Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: Let’s clear up a few ownerships here. I don’t own the characters of Harry Potter and the…, They were created, and killed for the most part, by JK Rowling. I’m making no money off of this now nor shall I ever. I also don’t own Good Charlotte or the lyrics to their song, Blood Valentine. This work of fiction in no way portrays their beliefs or personalities. And the plot line is completely mine, well as far as I know. I copied this from an original story I wrote. That being the case there may be subsequent chapters.
Note: Challenge fic for Chrissy’s battle of the bands. Uses lyrics, but is mostly story. Enjoy.
“Harry, tell me you aren’t planning on doing what I think you are!” Draco glared at the man in front of him.
“Maybe I am, maybe I‘m not. It depends on what you think I am going to do.” Harry refused to meet the intense silver glare.
Draco grabbed Harry’s wrist bring the attached hand to eye level. “There’s blood on your hands.”
Snatching his hand back, Harry turned around and walked away. He’d finish what he started, whether Draco liked it or not.
“Harry, get back here. I’m talking to you!” Draco stood watching Harry walk away as it started to rain. He ignored the police lights and sirens around him. A solitary piece of paper flutter from the sky, plastering itself to his shoe. Picking it up he read the note, balling it in his fist he screamed after the disappearing figure. “If you don’t want me to cry, you won’t do it!” His words went unheard.

Draco lay in bed staring up at the ceiling, he hadn’t heard from Harry in two nights. He didn’t want to think the worse but what was there to think. He remembered the sights vividly. The blood, all the blood, that washed away in the heavy rain. The illusion spell that shielded them from the authorities. The invisibly cloak that was pulled around the departing figure. Draco tried to understand, but he didn’t, he couldn’t, he never would.
He jumped when the phone rang. He must have dozed off, looking at the clock he wondered who would be calling him this early. Praying that it would be new of Harry, or even better, Harry himself, he answered.
“Hello.” Draco waited for a reply, getting nothing in returns for his efforts. “Hello?” Pulling the phone away from his ear he looked at the receiver. “Hello? Is anyone there? This isn’t funny you know.” Draco’s worry began showing through, causing his voice to take on a breathy tone. What Draco heard on the other end chilled him to the bone, he didn’t recognize the voice which could only mean bad news.
“Oh, my love. Please don’t cry.” The voice was a whisper, a foreign whisper.
“I’m not crying. Who is this and what do you want?” Draco shivered, those were the words in the stray note.
“ Come, don’t be that way. I have great news for you.” A soft chuckle accompanied the words, but it did nothing to ease the apprehension in Draco.
“I’ll ask you again. What do you want?” Draco tried to steady his voice but failed miserably.
“You know who this is. It’s over. It’s done. No need to mourn for what is lost.” The voice took on a harsher tone.
“This isn’t funny. Who are you?” Draco felt the fear enter his voice. He’d begun shaking.
“You know who this is.”
Draco looked at the phone again, as if it would reveal all the answers to the unasked questions. He frowned when he heard the dial tone. Shaking his head, he hung the phone up. Laying back he tried to clear his head and forget the cryptic phone call.
Draco woke up hours later, it was still dark outside but there was something or someone in the house. Getting up, he grabbed his wand and slid out of bed. Checking the rooms as he went he made his way to the bathroom. The door was closed and light spilled from underneath the door. Gathering up his courage he pushed the door open, wand at the ready. The sight that met him stopped him cold in his tracks.

Harry turned his head toward the opening door. Noticing it was Draco, an armed Draco but Draco none the less, he continued to wash his hands.
Draco watched the blood wash down the sink. He blinked as if the image before him would disappear. Dropping his wand he backed into the hall and slid down the wall to sit on the floor. Watching as Harry dried his hands on a towel, he sat quietly. He had so many question flying through his head he didn’t know where to start.
“But they found a body. How? Who?” Draco looked the man up and down checking for obvious injuries. “They said…and I assumed….” Draco threw his arms around Harry, tears began running down his face.
Harry rubbed small circles on his back. “Oh, Love. Please don’t cry.”
Draco pulled back and backed away. “What did you say?”
“Did I do something wrong?” Harry looked bewildered.
“You damn right you did something wrong.” Draco raised his voice. “You sneak in here scaring me to death and you’re covered in blood to boot. The you use that bloody line on me.” Draco began smacking him punctuating his words. “The headlines read a lover died, and you’ve been gone for two days. Two fucking days, Harry!” He dropped his head on to Harry’s shoulder, trying to control his emotions. “I find a note that tells me not to cry. And then I receive a two am phone call telling me not to cry and I don’t know who the fuck it is.” Draco looked up, his eyes blazing, “Of course you did something wrong! Where the hell have you been?!”
Harry digested the information that was thrown at him, in shouts and whispers. “Wait, you received a phone call?”
“Don’t avoid the question, Potter. Where were you? You had me worried sick for two days.” Draco ran a hand through his hair in frustration.
Harry chuckled. “Worry doesn’t look good on you.” He was trying to lighten the mood, delaying the inevitable.
Draco glared at him before stalking to the kitchen.
“What did you do?” Draco set about making a pot of coffee.
Harry sighed sinking down into a chair at the table. Burying his head in his hands he groaned. “I followed him home. I watched as he prepared for bed. He’d left his bedroom window open so I slipped through while he was out of the room.”
“So that was the body. You killed him. You killed some poor man and you don’t even regret it do you?” Draco leaned against the counter.
Harry slammed his fist into the table. “No you don’t understand. Him was me! I was him!” He let out a frustrated breath. “I can’t explain it, but as I stood over him, I was staring into my eyes. I was begging myself, but it wasn’t me. I don’t know how he did it but I killed myself.”
“Harry, you aren’t making any sense. How did you killed yourself? You’re here.”
“I did it!” Harry roared in anger, in confusion. “I ripped out his fucking throat and watched as the life faded from the green eyes I see every time I look in the mirror.” He let his head fall onto the table, he felt Draco’s hands on his back, rubbing gently.
“Harry. Why’d you do it? Who was it?” Draco trailed off in his line of questioning, he didn’t know how to phrase what he wanted to know.
“It was him, only it was me. He’s trying to take over my life, except I ended his. I don’t know.” Harry sighed in exasperation, before pushing away from the table and the soothing hands. “All I know is I did what I had to do.” He turned to look at Draco, he stalked across the titled floor pressing the blond man into the fridge behind them with his body. Looking into the stormy grey eyes he answered the unasked question. “Cuz’ I’m so in love with you.” He pressed his lips against the pale, soft ones, calming his fears and worries.
Note to Chrissy: Hey, it ended on a happy note, right? A story the ends in a kiss is always a happy story, ne? Well I told you I liked to cheat. I could build a beautiful plot around this, actually I already have. LOL, but as of now this story ends here. I know, I’m horrible. And it is so not a deathfic…a darkfic but not a deathfic. I’m evil. Sorrrryyyy!!!!
