A fallen snow
Warning: This is a yaoi fic so if you do not like it, do not read it! Everyone else is happily invited to read further and review. ^.^
And I should say that this actually is a bit strange. No magic only for the snow and . . . you will see. ^.^ The characters are different as well . . . some kind of.
Disclaimer: Sadly, only Ryan belongs to me and maybe the plot but everything else is J.K. Rowling’s. ˘_˘
Pairings: Harry x Draco like all of my other fics, are the main characters
Pansy x Neville
Hermione x Ryan
Summary: With the first snow, Draco was finally allowed to meet his charge and he wishes. Harry a happy Christmas. This is a story of Ancient Will-o’-the-Wisp.
Prologue
A/N: Every other story can wait! I wanted to write a Christmas-fic of the two of them.
So . . . this story is dedicated to everyone who loves Christmas as much as I do! ^.^
With all the snow and cold, cosy warmth inside and all the lights outside, with all the Christmas trees and hot chocolates to drink, with all the Christmas carols and delighted faces of loved ones who had gotten something they really had wished for. ^-^
Have fun.
Bicester; near Oxford; England.
It was silent outside. It was dark and cold. From some houses, light was shining out of windows but it wasn’t enough to lighten the dark streets of this little city in central England.
It was getting colder with every minute and water was freezing slowly as if it was to announce the first snow, which would fall soon.
Children were already anticipating the white soft wet and of course Christmas which was not so far away anymore. But momentarily they looked forward to play outside in the falling snow, build snowmen, and have some wild snowball fights with their friends.
Some of them stood in front of their windows even when they were supposed to be in bed sleeping, nevertheless they watched outside how the sky darkened more and more and waited for the first flake of white that would fall down and melt on the ground.
They knew as soon as the first snowflake would come others would follow and cover the streets and houses under their white mass.
Chapter 1
Harry felt strange today but he could not put his finger on it. He was restless and just a tiny bit annoyed but felt grateful and happy as well. Why his feelings were mixed like that, he did not know but it was driving him crazy constantly.
He was just grateful because this horrid week was finally over and he could rest for at least two days. And he felt happy because he had done all this terrible Christmas shopping . . . yes, and that was why he was annoyed too. Because, he HATED shopping! And he felt restless because work was still hunting him down! Yes, that was it . . . or at least he thought so while he marched along the street in fast steps.
His arms were full of presents for his friends and he could not even see his way. How he wished for the warmth of his little house. But he only had half an hour left. It was just enough to drop all these packages down and hurry over to Ryan, were he would meet with him and Neville.
He wasn’t sure, why his friend suddenly felt like cooking for them . . . only the three of them . . . Harry shook his head slightly; he would see when they met. He panted shortly because of his almost running down the streets and in this goddamn cold but still didn’t even bother to look at his surroundings.
Until he run straight into one who was fallen to the ground and his presents went flying all around.
“Watch were you going!” he almost shouted out in sudden anger.
“You should try to watch too.” come a soft reply and the raven-haired man looked down on his impact victim.
It felt strange but he inhaled sharply when he looked down to this beauty. He really had not expected to meet someone like this some day. But why now, when he had no time for it or in this case, him.
Shining silvery eyes looked back at him and examined him silently. Not that he minded after all he did the same.
He noticed the smooth pale skin with pink cheeks from the cold and the soft full lips, which were slightly parted while he still huffed from their impact he thought. He could see his breath puffing out uneven in small clouds.
“Oh my . . . I’m sorry.” the blond god (snicker… god… snort I like it) gasped and hopped to his feet lightly. “Let me help you.”
And just then, he started lifting his packages while Harry watched with wide eyes until he understood that he should now help the blond god instead.
Huffing still out of breath the blonde balanced a few boxes in his arms and looked at the man in front of him. A tiny smile graced his lips while he waited to hear what the man would finally say. He waited so long and wanted to hear this voice finally near him not miles away.
“Come on. Show me to your house so I can let this stuff falling down again.” he smirked after the man had not spoken one word until he run into him.
“Oh . . . of course! This way please.” Harry groaned embarrassed and wished to bang his head on a wall . . . hard!
With a shake of his raven locks, he marched away again. He heard the blonde pant behind him but he did not complain, which was somewhat strange because their pace was so fast.
“I’m . . . I’m sorry but . . . can you tell me your name . . . please.” Harry finally heard but furrowed his brows. He had expected him to ask if they could go a little less fast please but not this.
“Harry Potter!” he replied shortly without looking back at the blonde following him huffing and panting.
“Nice to meet you . . . Harry Potter. My name is Draco if you had . . . asked yourself that by now.” Draco sniggered, out of breath, because of the manners or lack of them the other man showed. He only earned a short nod for this and shook his head with a little sigh. He had a lot of work to do it seemed. “Oh come on! You pushed me down into the snowy mud not the other way around. I’m the one who should be angry now not you.” Draco cried after the man and hurried to keep his pace.
There he heard a low chuckle and looked up surprised and he met startling emeralds briefly before Harry turned his head to the street again. He tried to take a deep breath to calm the fluttering in his heart and was grateful that the other could not make it out. After all, he was already huffing like a locomotive.
When he looked up again he had to stop sharply and stumbled a few times to keep all boxes in his arms. Harry had halted right then and balanced his presents on one arm while he used the other to unlock his door.
Sighing he marched in and right into his cosy warm living room and dropped everything on the floor. He would bother with these ones later. Putting on a grin he rushed out again and past his new companion to shut his door tightly and keep all of this damn cold out of his house.
“Nice to meet you Draco . . . “he finally said and took the packages from the blonde to drop these to the floor as well. “What’s your surname?” And he was a bit puzzled when he watched the others silvery eyes went wide.
‘Oh, oh!’ Draco thought almost panicky. What should he call himself now? ‘Quick! Think fast!’ He stumbled slightly over his words when he finally answered this troubling question. “Malfoy.” he almost shouted out and was relieved that the raven-haired man did not ask why he had to think about such a simple issue.
“Okay then Draco . . . do you want a coffee or something else as a little excuse for me pushing you down and a thanks for helping me get all this stuff home somewhat safe?” Harry asked and shook his head dismissingly. Who was he to ask stupid things, which weren’t his business?
The blonde nodded quickly and sighed again in relief. He really did not want to use his magic already. Smiling he followed the other man into the kitchen to watch him making coffee for the both of them.
“Have you just moved in or something like that because I haven’t seen you once before and I spend already all my lifetime here in Bincester.” The emerald-eyed man asked him over his shoulder and concentrated then again on his hands.
“A few days ago. I needed some tapestry change if you know what I mean and I think in this surroundings I’m more able to write than in London. This little city looks so cosy and friendly you know.” Draco smirked unnoticed by Harry. He was so proud of himself! So many facts and they really sounded plausible.
“You’re a writer? That sounds really great . . . and not so stressful.” Harry replied absently while he concentrated on his task.
‘You wouldn’t believe it!’ Draco cried inside but only smiled calmly at the other man when he looked at him.
“What do you do for a living?” Draco tried to change their conversation and motioned with his hands without a specific meaning.
“I work at the police station in this little city. However, sometimes it really is boring here. Almost no criminals if you get what I mean.”
“And that’s a bad thing?” Draco asked quizzically and looked at him with a lifted eyebrow.
“You know a friend of mine asks me that constantly.” the raven-haired man laughed and shook his head with now sparkling eyes.
“And . . . “the blonde stressed the word just a bit and earned himself a low chuckle again.
“Don’t know. But sometimes I need a little more action here just to keep myself busy.” Harry replied smirking evilly and waddled around a bit for fun.
Draco laughed delighted and shook his head in contempt. It got better then he had thought and maybe Harry would grant his wish sometime . . . soon.
“Here you are.” he heard the other man say and was ripped out of his thoughts. Grateful he took the given mug and followed his host back into the living room.
“You mentioned that you don’t like the cold?” he inquired softly and plopped somehow elegantly into a seat.
Harry watched amazed that someone really could sit down like this and smiled friendly at the other. “Yeah because . . . well it is just cold and not warm and comfortable and . . . you know.”
“I love the cold and the snow. I love watching children play outside in the winter and have some fun with snowball fights and all that.” the blonde explained with a gentle smile. “It gets me laughing all the time.”
“Yeah this might be the only good thing of the winter.” Harry remarked darkly and looked out of the window back in his past.
“What about Christmas? As far as I know everyone loves Christmas.” The blonde tried to cheer him up again after all it was his fault.
“No, not really. Back in school, some guy described how his family celebrated Christmas and I remember thinking that this must be what everyone tells me about it. That’s how it has to feel but I never experienced something like that.” he denied the asked question in an even darker mood.
“I’m sorry.” Draco mumbled and lowered his head. He felt like hitting himself. He should have known if he had thought about it! He wanted to ask why this was but understood shortly that it was way too early for that talk. The raven-haired one had to come to talk about it by himself, he knew and . . .
But what could he do to brighten him up again? He did not know. However, someone seemed to show mercy to him and let Harry’s phone ring in an annoyed sound. Silently he looked towards the sky and thanked his . . . boss and friend for this interruption.
“Yes?” Harry almost shouted into the phone and got Draco jerking in his seat.
“Whoa Harry! No need to rip my head of!” Ryan answered confused and waited a while. “By the way . . . where are you. My cake is almost as cold as the temperature outside! Get your arse over here!” the other man now cried into his end of the phone and Harry sighed defeated.
But he heard Draco snigger on the sofa and looked at him in amusement. “Yeah . . . I’m almost there. No need to rip my head of.” he replied smirking and received two laughs, one from the blonde in his living room and one of his friend.
“And Ryan . . . I’m going to bring someone with me.”
“You do? Oh my . . . let me check my house . . . I think I need to clean up first.” his friend cursed and Harry could imagine him looking around frantically to set up everything okay. He laughed delighted and hung up, his conversation with Draco forgotten.
“Come on Blondie! There is a cake waiting for us.” he chuckled and motioned Draco to the front door of his house. Amused he watched the blonde’s wide unbelieving eyes when the man didn’t even protest of a treatment like this, so shocked he seemed to be.
Draco shook his head in disbelieve! Why should he rescue him and push him right into the next problem. ‘Did he just call me Blondie?’ the smaller man asked himself and shook his head again. ‘Nothing of the sort with it’s going better! Ha!’ he thought and tried his best not to panic.
He did not even have enough time to make up the life he somehow had not lived. And . . . ‘Oh god! No!’ His insides screamed at him frantically and he did his best not to twitch around next to his charge. ‘Blaise! You idiot!’
But Harry didn’t seem to notice his fights and frights and pushed him out of his house carefully to not let him slip on some evil ice, which had chosen his doorstep to freeze on.
***
Harry manly pushed Draco towards Ryan’s house and wondered why the blonde was suddenly so
. . . nervous. After all, it was just Ryan and not the queen herself!
Draco didn’t even notice that he was being thrust through the door, as his mind was racing to set something together and . . . oh god!
He barely could hold himself to not panic and whimper every now and then a little mantra to himself and hoped that the raven-haired man could not hear him at least not good enough to make out his words or fright.
But, when Harry stopped suddenly, he all but wanted to run away and almost did, but the emerald-eyed one’s hand on his shoulder hold him in place. He tried to squirm himself out of the grip but was not even strong enough for some little think like breaking free.
Then the door ripped open and Ryan planted himself before them with a stoic expression on his face. “Where have you been?”
“Blondie here tried his best to halt us. You should be proud of me because I got here with him.” Harry mocked and petted the blonde’s shoulder without noticing it.
“Yeah, yeah. By the way Neville brought someone too and I . . . somehow I meet someone too and wanted to . . . you know.” the brunette stuttered suddenly nervous. But, Harry only laughed and shook his head. The three of them were some!
“What now. Do you want us to freeze in front of you door?”
Ryan jumped out of his thoughts and stood aside to let them come in. “Kitchen.” was all he said back in his thoughts and Harry shook his head again.
Silently he motioned Draco to take off his shoes and follow him.
Wordlessly Draco forced himself to walk and entered the comfortable room full with four more people but his eyes went wide when he saw . . . “Pansy! Hermione!” he cried disbelievingly and stared at them in shock. It only was a good thing he could not die or he would have had a heart attack by now.
“Draco! . . . Oh my . . . Believe me we were or are as shocked as you are.” the black haired girl cried out and embraced him tightly.
“She’s right. But I think Blaise has something to do with it.” the hazelnut colour haired girl said with already a lifted brow.
“Oh stop it Mrs. Research. Just be happy about it!” Pansy shook her and brushed a strand of her black hair out of her brown eyes. But Hermione only rolled her eyes and embraced the still stunned Draco herself.
“I think Mrs. Hazelnut is right somehow. I fear Blaise pushed me into this problem which suddenly isn’t one anymore and . . . I don’t know. I feel confused now.” he mumbled and looked at his friends with yet wide eyes.
“Come and think of it! Me too.” Harry interrupted their frantic talk with a puzzled look on his face. If he was not that bad in reading his friends expressions, they were too.
“Oh my . . . We almost forgot!” Pansy suddenly wailed and looked around as if in search.
“Uhm . . . we’re old school friends and . . . you know.” the blonde trailed of with even wider eyes now. ‘Argh . . . what a mess!’
“Of course.” the raven-haired man nodded and went out of the kitchen to find himself a seat. He didn’t notice the worried expressions of these three old school friends.
A/N: I know it is short but somehow it felt right to stop things here. What do you think? Please tell me. I hope you liked it. I already thought out a little sequel to it but maybe it will be the epilogue . . . I don’t know.
Oh . . . I almost forgot. This story somehow flew to me when I listened to Enya’s “Amid the fallen snow” and “It’s in the rain”. Maybe you get to listen to it too, who knows.
