She muttered incoherently as aloud ringing woke her from her dreamless slumber. She had rolled herself on her side, her hand lazily searching for a button – pressing down on it she sighed in relief, silence. She had rolled back over to her stomach once more, snuggling into her warm blankets as an arm wrapped around a random stuffed animal. It didn’t seem odd, not at all, that she had an alarm going off that didn’t sound anything like hers – Wait, she thought.
“What the,” the girl slowly began to sit up, rubbing her eyes as she let out a tired yawn, stretching. Well I’m taking my sweet time to know why the hell there was a ring instead of song, she sneered in her head.
She adjusted to the light, seeing almost drunkenly for a few seconds. Then there it was - an ear piercing scream that could’ve woken up any neighborhood. Had it not been for the huge house she sat in that could be considered the neighborhood within itself. She cursed softly under her breath, regretting the decision immediately as one – one… what the hell was that. She grimaced slightly at the sight of the weird creature; she’d only seen one other and thought she was going nutters by thinking anything of the sort. Wait, seeing it made her nuts already, didn’t it?
“Wh…what the heck are you, “she questioned softly as she backed up further against the wall – away from it. That’s right, become even more psychotic by talking to your imagination. Haha, this is one screwy dream!
“Missus, do not be alarmed, Tuffi --” she cut the creature off as she shook her head, babbling “no,” repetitively to herself.
“A… a house-elf, this is great. I’m in bloody freaking Harry Potter!” She shrieked and got out of bed. She walked around endlessly in a circle, thinking out loud.
“THIS… this cannot be possible,” she noticed the house-elf was still in her room. “Uh, Tuffi, was it? You’re excused.” She had to get rid of it, this was just too much to handle. They weren’t real, magic wasn’t real – it just wasn’t real.
The house-elf bowed and popped out of her room. She was left alone, alone to wonder – wonder what the heck was going on. She huffed angrily and walked over to a dresser that was placed on the far side of the room, opposite of her bed. This room was larger than her actual house, painted black – how creepy. She proceeded to open the dresser, having no need to look in the mirror that adorned the wall as she picked out a few pieces of clothing. She was in her pajamas after all, she might as well dress. A soft sigh emitted from her seconds later as she looked at the size,
“Medium… at least they have my– ” …size, she was going to say, but she had read ‘children’s size’ across the tag. She couldn’t fit in that; she was in the teen section! She looked around before her eyes landed on the mirror, jaw dropping. Ho…HOLYSHITE! Whe… where’d my chest go!?
She whined out loud, “It took me years to even get much! What’s going on? Why am I like this, what’s going on!?” She paced around the room, stressed.
“STEPHANIE!” a male voice boomed loudly, coming closer it seemed.
She snapped her head towards her door, shaking slightly. Oooh god, what if they want to kill me? I’m going to die, die! This... this isn’t possible. She scrambled around, trying to find – A CLOSET! She was in and hiding within seconds. She sat as still as possible, yet amazed at the sheer size of the closet.
“Stephanie Anne Kirchner…” the sound of the voice was in her room now, irritated. She hadn’t even heard the door open to the room as she kept herself quiet. “The train leaves in a few hours, you’re supposed to be up! Get your arse out here, NOW!”
Train, for what…? She frowned slightly. The only thing that was making sense was actually Harry Potter; this was an alternate universe of the damn series. This wasn’t good at all. She’d only read the first chapter of the one book and set it down to instead watch the movies and read fanfiction. She nearly drooled in her head at the thought of the pictures strewn across the internet of a certain lot of Slytherin, hetero and yaoi alike. She shook her head quickly and closed her eyes, what was she thinking!?
The closet door opened up as a wand pointed straight towards her ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ was the only thing she heard before being moved over to the opposite side of the room where she’d dropped her garments. “PUT ME DOWN, NOW. YOU JERK!” She screamed, her face a deep scarlet red from embarrassment, she could walk!
“Stephanie. You – DO NOT talk to ME like THAT. I am your Father and I expect to be treated as such, now get dressed. You are going to be late, we raised you better than this,” he explained as he dropped her down and crossed his arms – speaking once more, “You will be a Gryffindor, everyone in the family has been and I know you will make us proud!” It really wasn’t a request or a forced choice, just simply was.
She frowned to that, “I don’t think I’m cut out to be a Gryffindor. I’ll probably be Ssss – ” all she had to do was make the first sound and her ‘father’ was glaring daggers at her.
“You most certainly will not be a Slytherin, anything but Slytherin! You may be a pure-blood but there are things in our family that he-who-should-not-be-named cannot get a hold of. You will be safer in any other house.” There was more of a demand in his tone as he then walked off for her to get dressed. “There is a book sitting on your bed, read it, that should enlighten you to issues,” he continued calmly as he then shut the door behind him.
“Crazy… well at least my family isn’t loyal to that arsehole.” she murmured.
Walking to the bed she sat down, picking up the book he said would be there. It had a picture on it, a baby looked like it was laughing and in the arms of its parents – now that was interesting, moving pictures. It must be her – that was the only explanation. She opened it up, reading the first page. Hopefully this would be informational; she needed it to be, desperately.
Name: Stephanie Anne Kirchner
Born: 11-01-1982
Father: Damian Nathanial Kirchner
Mother: Vivian Marie Kirchner
“Weird, 82’ that’s 8 years earlier then I was actually born – judging by my body I’m still young. Also Harry Potter started Hogwarts like… when I would’ve turned one. So 1991,right? What year is it now… that’d tell me what year I’m starting... Wait I’m starting first year, duh! I haven’t even been sorted yet.” She stood up and searched around the room for some sort of calendar though, it’d be nice to know the day and month.
Luckily enough she was able to find one. Hm. 1994? Where does that put me? Means I’m 12? She noticed it was on ‘September’ and a huge star was placed on the 1st. No, I’m 11, at least for two more months. She took a deep breath; this wasn’t going to help her one bit.
She grimaced, since she hadn’t been placed yet, she was ultimately a first year – dang birthday curse. Her birthday alone in her own school district made her one of the oldest in her class year, only because she was born like maybe 2 months and a few days off of the cut-off-date to be registered into Kindergarten. This case was no different it seemed, she’d be one of the older ones of her year, oh well – her interests of possible relationship material had at least two years on her if not that.
A soft knock shook her out of her thoughts, the book – now in her lap – still opened to the first page, “Stephanie dear, are you okay?” This time a females voice rang through the barrier of the door, worry laced in her voice.
“U…Uh. Yes, Momma,” she stuttered slightly. This was going to be strange, she had no idea how her relationship was with this family. The one in her actual world was pretty crumbled, yet she still loved them.
“Alright, well be dressed and ready to go in the next ten minutes. I hope you’ve been packing! We need to get to the Hogwarts Express soon!” The woman exclaimed.
She heard, moments later, footsteps retreating. Packing? Holy crap! She had so hoped that there was already a suitcase packed for her, but also she was afraid to have seen what she’d packed if there was!
There it was: a rude awakening, a confused girl, and a suit case that needed to be found
