Title: Not My Momma's Fairytales
Summary: Charlie Swan is a down to Earth kind of guy. His life is real simple, real basic. He goes fishing with his best friend Billy, but he has no idea that Billy's son, his own surrogate nephew, is a Werewolf of sorts. His teenage daughter has finally come home where she belongs and Charlie's trying to build a relationship with her; he has no clue her boyfriend's a Vampire. When a British man moves into the old Crenshaw place two houses over Charlie has no idea that he's going to be sucked into a fairytale all his own, one that has him questioning everything he ever believed-about the world and about himself.
Main Pairing: Charlie Swan/Harry Potter
Minor Pairings: Edward/Bella, Carlisle/Esme, Rose/Em, Alice/Jasper, Billy/Luna
Warnings: As listed, Magical Creatures out the wazoo, moments of angst, light Bella/Edward bashing in general, Charlie getting pissed off and arresting a small group of people for hate crimes on charges that would never stick in court, crap like that. Americanisms of course, lack of Brit picking, minor culture clashes (in a happy way), more will be added as needed. My timeline is thus-story takes place in 2005, Harry is 25, Charlie is 35, Bella is 16, Jacob phased early (Twilight age, not New Moon) and is 15. War is over. Thoughts will be in italics. Always.
Chapter One: Two New People In One Year's Gotta Be Some Kind Of Town Record
Charlie Swan read over the report on his desk intently, as he did every report that crossed his desk. He took his job as Chief of Police very seriously; even in a small town like Forks, Washington where people were mostly too afraid of what the neighbors would say to break a law. Setting the three page report saying that nothing of note happened that day except Dale saw a teenager in an awfully short skirt, Charlie glanced at his clock. He had twenty minutes before his shift was over, but he figured he'd stay an extra hour.
He wasn't sure who Bella thought she was kidding, having that boy over after school but having him leave before Charlie got home. They had neighbors. Still, it was nice she was socializing so he figured he'd call and let her know she had an extra hour or so with the boy, and he'd keep playing stupid.

Harry Potter had been modeling for seven years; at the age of 25 he was nearing 'old' for his chosen profession. He'd never really wanted to be a model, it had sort of fallen into his lap after he was emancipated and left the Dursley's after the war ended his sixth year. Modeling wasn't a life long dream, it was just something to do to keep busy. He didn't need the money, and he'd not been after fame or glamor. Harry knew more than anyone how much hard work went into the glitz of being recognized; he just hadn't wanted to be in the hypocritical Wizarding World any longer.
Harry looked over the deed in his hand again, not quite believing his offer had been taken. He'd have paid double for what he'd seen in Luna's Pensieve, but he'd only put in twenty percent above asking price. There was a photo attached, and Harry let himself get lost in thought as he stared at it. It was a pretty little fixer-upper, and Harry had always been good with his hands. Three bedrooms upstairs, one full bath upstairs and a half off the kitchen; the laundry hookups where apparently in the spot where the shower should be, which Harry thought was a brilliant use of space. Living room was on the small side but there was a separate dining room and an eat in kitchen. The basement was unfinished, but he'd been assured (by Luna, whose visions of the future were always perfect) that there would be no problems finishing it off and turning it into usable space. There were two external storage sheds and an attached one car garage. This sat on three quarters of a acre, whatever that meant, and most of that was wooded area.
It was the combination of rain and woods that had drawn him to this house at first, out of the thousand or so he'd seen in the past two years from agents all over the world. Funny that it had taken an Oracle to find him a house where a Realtor could not. Harry's back tingled at the thought of running through the woods, rain falling on his skin and the rich scents of nature around him; he shoved the thoughts away forcefully. Three weeks wasn't long to wait until he could move in, he told himself as he gently placed the photo in the folder containing his copy of the deed to the house. Three weeks was no time at all, and he'd use those three weeks to learn how to re tar the roof. Luna said it was only a matter of months before it started to leak, so he'd be proactive. Besides, he had a job that would send him to central Africa that last week.
*Three Weeks Later*
Charlie sat at the town's only diner waiting for his lunch order to be taken; meatloaf special, same as every Thursday. This day there was a bit of excitement in the air because someone new was coming to town any day now. Someone, and no one knew who, had bought the old Crenshaw place on Charlie's street.
Ok, so Charlie knew who, but he was it. He'd gotten a call at work three weeks ago from a British woman asking if the police department could recommend anyone she could trust; apparently Charlie's new neighbor had already sold his place in London and was going on a business trip so his assistant was looking to ship the man's things via Federal Express over the next several weeks. Therefore she needed to hire someone in Forks to accept delivery and place the packages in the house. This person would of course need a key, which is why they'd decided to call the police for assistance. Deciding to show some of the neighborliness Forks prided itself on Charlie offered to do it himself, free of charge of course.
While the diner buzzed around him, Charlie sat in thought. He was the only person in town who knew that this new guy, Harry Potter, was coming today. He was meeting Charlie for lunch, in fact, because Charlie had his key.

Harry was running late for his meeting with the Chief of Police by about fifteen minutes, but he'd been drawn to the woods off the side of the road and had to pull off for a few minutes. It started to rain as he pulled into town and Harry smiled at the thought of his new home; his first order of business after lunch was going to be exploring the woods around his house.
Pulling up to the diner where he was meeting Chief Swan, Harry got out and took his time walking to the door; he loved the rain on his skin.

Charlie knew when his lunch guest arrived by the sudden hush that washed through the diner. Charlie's back was to the window, but he kept his curiosity under control and refrained from turning to stare like the rest of his fellow townsfolk.
"Oh, my God. That's Harlequinn!"
Tina's voice was loud in the otherwise silent room, the waitress holding someone's lunch special near the counter. Charlie was surprised to hear the man's first name come out and wondered if he was some sort of celebrity Charlie wasn't aware of. A buzz went through the restaurant as those who knew began telling those who didn't exactly who this man was. Charlie figured it would get to him eventually...and then the bell over the door jingled and Charlie looked over.
Author's Note: Not sure how long this will be, but I got the idea in my head and had to start it. Let me know what you think? I've never seen this pairing before...This Chapter Sponsored By: Migraines and the Caffeine that dispels them. And cigarettes and the annoyance that causes me to smoke them.
