Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
The main characters in this story are Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix, the Lestrange brothers and Snape.
*******
Under the hot sun of Provence, the sprawling grounds of Chateau Lestrange smothered Lucius with heavy rose fragrance. In other circumstances he would complain of a headache and escape to England, but the subject at hand was too important to dismiss.
“The ancient custom must be invoked.” Rodolphus strode along the path between the towering rose shrubs. “We must preserve and foster the Pure-Blood elite.”
“Certainly,” Lucius agreed, following in his steps. “Some Pure-Bloods aren’t worthy of being named so. We, the true nobility, must outnumber them.”
Lucius watched his brother-in-law’s heavy frame with a keen eye. He knew that things weren’t so smooth between Rodolphus and his wife of five years, Bellatrix.
Oh, raven-haired Bellatrix, whose fierce eyes made Lucius long for her since his last year at Hogwarts. To his dismay, she had already been betrothed to the eldest Lestrange heir, and Lucius had to settle for clandestine meetings with his paramour. He trusted his most intimate secret to her, and only she could fulfill the desires of his body.
“The Longbottoms, the Prewetts - what traitors!” Rodolphus expounded. “Our leader, the true heir of Salazar Slytherin, is gone because of that Half-Blood Potter baby!”
It was clear what Rodolphus was angling for. Bellatrix was not interested in bearing an heir, while Narcissa had already borne a child into the Malfoy House. Narcissa was the ideal Pure-Blood wife, the pinnacle of the wizarding nobility. Lucius didn’t mind sharing Narcissa if it legalised his relations with Bella.
“I don’t think old Druella would object,” Lucius said. “She’s a fervent keeper of the Pure-Blood heritage.”
“After the shame brought by Sirius and Andromeda on the Black family?” Rodolphus’ laughter scraped Lucius’ ears. “She wouldn't be so stupid as to oppose."
They arrived at a gazebo sheltered in a cypress cove. A marble table with refreshments awaited them there. Cooling charms kept the summer heat away. Relieved, Lucius sat down and sipped icy lemonade as Rodolphus bashed the candidates for the position of new Minister of Magic in Britain. He barely listened to the elder Lestrange since his mind was preoccupied with the possibilities about to open up for him. Some traditions surely were worth revoking. The main trick was to keep it all under covers while maintaining the proper public face.
Rodolphus exhausted his verbal vigor, and his bulging eyes stared at the stately cypresses. His moustache seemed to have wilted from the heat. After a parting glass of fine Firewhiskey, Lucius left for Malfoy Manor. Although the long-distance Apparation always made his insides churn, his spirits were high. He resolved to see Druella as soon as possible.
******
Druella promptly responded to Lucius’ inquiry about visiting her. She was eager to see her beloved son-in-law before she departed to visit Arabella Zabini in Tuscany.
Lucius walked through the garden in the heart of Windsor until he came up to a fountain in the shadow of ancient oaks. As he touched the cold stone barrier, the trees receded and a mansion materialized out of the air. When Lucius ascended the wide porch, the entrance doors swung open. Druella had been awaiting him.
The old witch, dressed in lilac robes, reclined in a high-back chair in the small salon. Lucius remembered the room very well because it was where he and his then future mother-in-law went over the terms of the prenuptial contract. Lavishly painted rose bouquets adorned the moss-green wall panels with edges of pure gold. Flowery perfume saturated the air.
“What a pleasure to see you, Lucius. Wish my daughters remembered me like you do.”
Druella’s rouged cheeks jiggled as she talked. It was hard to believe that she was the mother of the two most recognized beauties in the Pure-Blood society.
“It’s always an honor to be in your company.” Lucius bowed his head and sat down in the other high-back chair.
“What kind of company am I who is so old and ailing?” Druella waved her hand, and her diamonds flashed sparks in the sunlight. “For such a dashing young wizard like you?”
“Pure Blood never grows old, Lady Druella,” Lucius assured her. “I’ve talked to Narcissa: she’s very open to the proposition.”
“As always, your speech is pure honey, my Lucius.” The witch fidgeted with her thick gold chain. “We must keep it confined to the family. The modern marriage laws are such a shame. Ministry of Magic wants us all to become like Muggles!”
“They take the ordinary wizards too seriously.” Lucius rested his head on the chair back. He was about to touch a sensitive topic but did not want to betray his anxiety. “Would Bellatrix be agreeable? Rodolphus has been vague about her.”
“She’d better be!” Druella gave her gold necklace a sharp tug. “You should be the one handling her, not Rodolphus. He’s full of hot air but when it comes to the male power –pfft!”
“I’ll do my best to subordinate Bellatrix,” Lucius nodded, careful to appear calm. “My friend, Snape, is excellent at making potions. She’d be with a baby in no time.”
“Severus Snape? I would never trust our sacred rites to a half-Muggle!”
“But we’d need help with potions. Bellatrix isn’t an easy case.”
Druella flicked her wand, and a house-elf appeared in the middle of the room. He was so old, he was bent almost in two. Unlike other house-elves, he was wearing a fairly clean floor-length black robe.
“Vessio is two hundred years old. He learned all the rituals from his grandfather, who safeguarded the old secrets for the younger generations of the Black family.” Druella motioned Vessio to turn to Lucius. “I’m handing you over to young Lord Malfoy to help him, Narcissa and Bellatrix rekindle the Pure-Blood power.”
“It’s a great honour to serve you, Lord Malfoy.” Vessio fell prostrate on the floor before Lucius.
“I have no words to express my gratitude, Lady Druella. I’m so glad there’s no need for Snape’s help. To be honest, I wasn’t very comfortable about letting him in on the secret either.”
Excitement tickled Lucius’ insides. Everything was coming together so easily, he could hardly believe it. Although Bellatrix had put up a show of rebellion with her husband, in a private conversation with Lucius she had agreed to play her part. Once the wizarding family marriage was complete, Lucius would be the one to reign over the whole clan.
“We, the true Pure-Bloods, live in our own realm! Woe to anyone who dares to intrude upon it,” Druella proclaimed, straightening in her chair. The necklace glistened in the expanse of her bosom. “Toujours pur!”
Druella carried herself like she’d been born a Black, not Rosier, Lucius thought, as he departed from the Black mansion. Although Pure-Bloods, the Rosiers were very much a second-tier family, who made their fortunes through the ever-popular love and seduction magic, and their name reflected it.
At home, Lucius looked Vessio over, while the house-elf stood waiting for his orders. “So, you know everything about the rites?”
“Everything you need, Lord Lucius! Marital magic, fertility rites, charms of Cupid,” Vessio rattled off.
The house-elf sounded more like a Rosier salesman. Given the fact that he had served Druella for the past fifty years or so, it was hardly a surprise, but if he could do the job, it was good enough for Lucius.

Narcissa fingered slips of fine parchment. Soft and velvety, the notes were soon to be inscribed with proper charms and sent to her new husbands.
Her heartbeat hastened when she thought of the possibilities unfolding before her. The birth of her son irrevocably instated her in one of the most ancient and pedigreed families.
Draco, who had recently turned one year, was now sleeping sweetly in his crib in the nursery suite. Narcissa’s fingers slid over her breasts covered with lavender silk of her peignoir. She looked forward to the moment when Lucius’s lips would caress them in their bed. It was much easier now that she did not have to nurse her baby often. Her libido had been ravenous lately, and her husband enjoyed it to the fullest.
“Have you made up your mind, darling?” Lucius, in his emerald dressing-robe, sat down in another armchair and crossed his strong legs.
“I wonder if three wouldn’t be too many.” Her eyes perused the names on a parchment.
Lucius’s laughter caressed her ears. She would be happy to say that she was in love with him but, deep inside, she knew there was a distance between them. Still, she played her part dutifully, submitting to her husband.
“You’re a daring witch. Such an appetite in you.”
Narcissa chuckled. She knew she had been a very lucky witch. Their marriage had been arranged with strict adherence to Pure-Blood traditions to ensure the perfect blend of the magical powers of the two prominent families. Although, as a noble Pure-Blood maiden, Narcissa was a virgin on her wedding day, she was not ignorant of erotic pursuits. Druella had passed on to her daughters the secrets of witch magic honed by many generations of the Black and Rosier families.
Now Narcissa was about to take part in the ancient rites. No one revered divine sensuality as highly as the Pure-Blood elite. The sacrament of the group marriage between the most influential clans had ensured the Pure-Blood progeny and power for many centuries.
“I see you sent Severus away. He’d been around here quite a bit.”
“Severus is only a Half-Blood. We must make sure he wouldn’t steal the sacred knowledge.”
“You’re right, he doesn’t have the pedigree.” Narcissa made sure to sound casual, although Snape’s brooding looks always stirred her. It was a relief not to have to consider her husband’s closest associate.
Narcissa remembered how she glimpsed her husband talking to Bellatrix in the back rooms the other day. No matter how mundane their interactions were, Narcissa could sense an affinity between the two of them. When she probed Bella about her relationship with Lucius, her sister divulged almost nothing. Still, Bella seemed to look forward to completing the rites. Very well. Narcissa could get some benefit for herself from the proposed arrangement, too.
“Is Rabastan going to join the union, too?” Narcissa recalled Rabastan’s dark eyes, and then his feverish mouth on her neck, collarbones, and lower, as they necked on the top of the Astronomy Tower during their last year at Hogwarts.
“Rabastan?” Lucius tapped the armrest with his fingers. “He isn’t married yet.”
“He’s Rodolphus’ brother, so he’s entitled, too.”
“You wish to say you want him more than Rodolphus?” Lucius gave his wife a squeeze on her bosom.
“Well, is he in or not?” Narcissa pulled away and shook her breasts playfully. A wry smile crossed her husband’s lips, which was good.
“You’re a smart witch, Narcissa, to go for the better-looking brother.”
“Of course,” Narcissa agreed.“Rabastan is far more handsome than Rodolphus.”
“You’re such a lady.” Lucius laughed. “We’ll include Rabastan then.”
“And I’ll find him a proper wife that you and Rodolphus would like.”
“Deal. As far as it isn’t renegade Andromeda.”
“Andromeda isn’t my sister anymore!” Narcissa demonstrated her righteous disgust.
They kissed and left for the bedroom. Narcissa swayed her hips back at Lucius, as she walked ahead of him. If she only could find out what appeal her bitchy sister held for Lucius.
******
The dark green and black swirls of the malachite walls seemed to flow in the shimmering candlelight. Only the select few were allowed in the circular room, one of several chambers deep inside the Manor. They were in the oldest part of the building, which had been used for magical rites since the time Sir Guillaume Malfoi took an oath of service to Salazar Slytherin. In commemoration of it small silver busts of Seigneur Salazar stood in each of the chambers.
Narcissa was gorgeous in her diaphanous gown. The silvery silk did almost nothing to hide her curves. She was a beautiful witch and could produce many a gifted wizarding offspring.
Like Lucius, Rabastan and Rodolphus were in plain long black robes and Lucius knew that they were naked and aroused under their coverings. He prepared to play the role of the lord, as was proper for a wizard of his standing.
Vessio was a master of his craft. He had bowls and vials with fragrant concoctions arranged on an ebony table which was as old as the room itself. The night before he had painstakingly explained the ceremony to everyone involved. As the tradition dictated, the house-elf was not to speak during the ritual since he was a mere tool in it.
Narcissa let her robes slip off her shoulders, revealing her full breasts and impeccably groomed body. Vessio surveyed her with appreciation.
“Are you ready, our beloved?” Lucius asked.
She pushed up her breasts with her hand, as she lay down on another oblong ebony table, one of the narrow edges of which looked like a deep inward curve. It had served many generations of Malfoy witches since the Middle Ages. In a moment silver bracelets appeared on her wrists, pinning her hands to the table above her blond mane. Her legs were parted wide, bent and bound with silver bracelets to the corners of the table while her buttocks rested on the curved edge.
Vessio poured a potion from a bluish bottle over her intimate folds, making them swell. Narcissa shifted her hips wanting to bring her legs together but her bonds prevented her. Lucius noticed that the eyes of Lestrange brothers were riveted to his wife’s body. He was proud of her beauty.
The house-elf’s deft fingers rubbed her breasts with flavourful oil. Narcissa moaned softly, as her breasts swelled and nipples darkened. Glistening juices began to cover her open pussy. Scents of vanilla and exotic herbs spread in the air, and the wizards’ breathing grew heavier.
Suddenly, Vessio pinched her nipples, and she yelped from the surprise. Lucius could see even more moisture in her pussy. His member hardened.
Vessio moved in between her legs, sprinkling reddish powder on her succulent lips and massaging them. Narcissa swayed her hips. The house-elf blew at her pussy, and she arched her body. Lucius thought she was about to orgasm, but Vessio prevented it by pouring something blue and cold-looking over her crotch.
“Darn you, Vessio!” Narcissa hissed, not content to be deprived of her pleasure.
“Be silent, witch!” Lucius commanded. He pointed his wand at her and his spell stung her breasts, sending her into a new round of moaning and swaying. “You’ll have it when the time is right.”
Rodolphus drew so close to the table, he was looming over Narcissa’s pearly body. Rabastan’s black eyes seemed to devour her, and a faint sheen of sweat covered his clean-shaven face. Their arousals were all the more evident under their robes.
Vessio continued his work in silence, coating her lusty pussy in fluffy cream, spreading it not only over the folds but also over the insides of her thighs. The cream mixed with her juices, taking on a slightly brownish tint and emitting a sweet fragrance. When her intimate parts were properly coated, Vessio returned to Narcissa’s breasts.
He covered her bosom with the same white cream, and mixed it with her milk, before he spread it down her abdomen. Narcissa breathed heavily, her body aroused and taut.
Vessio stepped aside and bowed to each of the wizards, almost hitting the floor with his forehead. Lucius, hardly able to contain his libido, came forward and held his wand low over Narcissa’s skin. He whispered the ancient verses of the ritual in a long-forgotten dialect as his wand made circles just above her bosom. He could see the heat radiating from the tip of it, and the cream crystallizing under it, tightening over her luxurious globes.
Lucius moved his wand over his wife’s body, and the Lestrange brothers chanted together with him until the cream became like glaze. New aromas, reminiscent of ripe fruits and fine brandy overpowered the subtle vanilla scent in the air.
“May you be always as sweet for your devoted wizards, as you are now,” Lucius proclaimed, tossing his robe on the floor. Rodolphus and Rabastan disrobed swiftly.
Lucius kissed Narcissa and her lips answered eagerly. He moved down her body to savour the sweet and tangy glaze, which covered her breast. Her nipple, big and tender, was a delight to taste. After him, Rodolphus kissed Narcissa, then shifted to her other breast, devouring the delicious treat, tugging and biting her sensitized skin.
Narcissa, restrained in her silver bonds, exuded lust in her every smallest move. As the wizards tasted their sweet treat, she grew more and more restless. Lucius put his palm on her chest, ordering her to be still. If she didn’t obey, she risked a punishment again. Narcissa drew a deep breath and stilled, her toes curling and uncurling.
Lucius caressed her pussy with his tongue. The taste of it was indescribable, making him want to enter her right away. When he tasted her juices beneath the foamy delight, he could not hold back anymore.
He pumped hard into her, not caring that Rabastan spent a little too much time kissing Narcissa on her lips. Vessio swiftly re-covered her breasts with the sweet cream, and Rabastan glazed it with his wand before ravishing her bosom together with his brother, as Narcissa shattered around Lucius’ cock.
She was so aroused that waves of orgasm rolled through her body the second each of the brothers entered after tasting her pussy. The sight of Narcissa, so beautiful in her erotic glow, mesmerized Lucius.
Then they stood around her, languid and spent, and her bonds disappeared. Narcissa shifted weakly, as Vessio cleaned her skin with his magic. Fine perspiration covered her forehead, and her blond hair was a wild mess. Lucius couldn’t help but wonder how Bella would look on the same table.
Vessio’s small dark figure emerged between the wizards by her side again, holding up an ornate silver cup decorated with rough-cut gemstones, the way they used to do it in the Middle Ages.
Slowly, Narcissa sat up, and took the ancient cup from Vessio.
“May we all drink from the vessel of Sucellos and Damara, blessed by Seigneur Salazar, to signify our union and my promise to bear strong sons and fair daughters.” Her voice trembled, as she recited another chant in the almost forgotten language.
When Lucius drank from the cup, the wine mixed with potion was like liquid fire, but he did not wince. When Rabastan, the last one to drink it, returned the empty cup to Vessio, and the rites were complete, Narcissa rested her head on her knees, her hair cascading down her shoulders and legs. The wizards put their robes on and left the room quietly, leaving her in care of the house-elf.
A few days later, the three wizards completed the same ritual with Bellatrix. Her raven hair blended in with the ebony table, making her look like a luscious cameo carved out of the table. Unlike her sister, she grunted when her hands and feet were bound, but, otherwise, she went along with the ceremony.
As Lucius took the silver cup from her hand, she whispered in his ear, “You’ll pay me for this, bastard.”
He glanced at the brothers but they didn’t seem to notice. Rodolphus stood with his eyes closed and Rabastan was deep in a post-orgasmic trance.
“Your will, my Lady,” Lucius whispered back. He quickly straightened up and swallowed his dose of the wine with potion. Only irreverent Bella was capable of such a thing, and he couldn’t wait for a one-on-one with her. Although Narcissa was a luscious beauty, it was Bella who thrilled him to the core.
*****
True to her new habit to come to the Manor when Narcissa was visiting at Chateau Lestrange, Bella appeared a few minutes after her sister’s departure.
“The chambers are ready, Mistress,” As Lucius had expected, it all worked out well.
“Is everything in place?” She looked at him from under her heavy-lidded eyes.
“Yes, my darling.”
“Since when am I darling for you?” Bella swept past him. “Come when you hear a bell ringing.”
“I will.” Lucius bowed. “Forgive me my slip of tongue, Mistress.”
Time seemed to crawl by, as Lucius waited by the fireplace in his studio. The more he thought of Bella in the far room, the more he craved her. She knew how to make him want her.
Soft tinkling of a small bell resounded in the air, and Lucius sprung from his chair. He made an effort to slow down his pace as he approached the coveted room since his haste was bound to make Bella mock him. He collected his dignity before opening the door.
“So, you’re here,” she greeted him, her legs in high-heeled knee boots crossed at the ankles. Her tight corset made her bare breasts look especially full and luscious. Her white skin contrasted with the black leather. “Brought your sorry excuse of a manhood, didn’t you?”
A large dark oak cross loomed behind her. A flat board, a little longer than a human torso, was affixed in the middle of the X-shaped device. An alcove in the side wall housed a bed with ornate mahogany posts. Heavy curtains were drawn shut, but swarms of candles under the paneled ceiling filled the room with golden glow.
“Yes, Mistress.” He opened his robes to offer himself to her. Although a Pure-Blood aristocrat was not supposed to act like this, nor was a proper Pure-Blood witch, nothing could compare to the pleasure they both derived from it.
Lucius approached Bella on her high chair. She studied his aroused penis. Her fingernails were long, curved and painted blood red. She drew them up and down his shaft slowly. Excruciatingly slowly. He watched her arm with the Dark Mark move and it thrilled him. Suddenly, she drove her fingernails into his balls, and he gasped.
“What a weakling!” Bellatrix laughed. “On the cross, my baby.”
In a moment, he was tied to the cross, his legs and arms spread, and his cock jutting out.
She brought her wand to his nipple. A spark flashed, making him wince. His cock twitched, and he arched, desperate for her to have mercy on him. More sparks, more torture for his nipples. He groaned and his forehead was wet with sweat.
With a wave of her wand, Bellatrix lowered the cross, leaning it against the wall, and brought her breast to his lips.
“You’d better please me, or you’ll be punished.” Her tone was chilly, and it drove Lucius insane with desire. “No coming before I tell you so.”
“Yes-s-s,” he moaned. The succulent red nipple was now in his mouth, and he did his best to caress it with his tongue and lips. Bella’s breathing hastened, and she pressed herself against his body. His cock hardened, about to erupt, but she noticed it in time. In a second, a cold stream poured over his tip from her wand, making him sway in his bonds.
“Bad boy.” She slapped his penis, and he winced. “You must hold it on your own.”
Her hand was around his cock, pumping it with vigor. Her mouth devoured his lips. She was like a black panther in heat, and very soon his cock was hard and strained again.
The cross now flat on the floor, she mounted him, grazing his cock with her wet pussy. He pushed his loins upwards, eager to enter her, but Bellatrix withdrew swiftly. Merlin, she was so good at teasing him.
She raised her wand, and his abdomen tightened up because he knew what to expect. A ring of blue light circled his penis, shrinking around it. The pressure made him feel like he was about to explode, and at the same time her pussy was over his lips, the back of his head pressed against the board. Her juices trickled down his chin, and every time he gave her an especially pleasant sensation, the magic ring eased its grip on his tormented cock. If he failed, the ring shrank, and he gasped again, making her chuckle.
“My Mistress, I can’t-” his tongue barely obeyed him. “Please, my Mistress…”
“Begging for mercy, aren’t you, such a proud Malfoy?” She moved down his body, and gave him a long kiss on his lips. Her tongue was forceful and insistent, and he submitted to her.
She mounted him again, and rode his cock. With his eyes half-closed he watched her breasts sway and hips rock. Her eyes were closed, as she used him for her pleasure, and he submitted to her, so ferocious and beautiful. Soon, they shook together in their orgasm. It was perfect.
Narcissa was taking her time, Lucius thought, as he watched Bella linger on the bed. The longer, the better. Rabastan surely kept his wife busy.
“Tell Vessio not to bring that damned fertility potion anymore.” Bellatrix fired a spell at a stray fly and it evaporated on the spot. “I’m in no mood for babies yet.”
“Just pretend that you drink it, my Mistress.” Lucius pressed his lips against her ivory shoulder. “Throw it away when Vessio is gone.”
“Rodolphus wants me to drink it in his presence.” Bellatrix pressed her wand to Lucius’ throat. “If I get pregnant, you’ll answer for it.”
“Rodolphus?” Lucius surmised he might have to call on Snape to help. “I’ll arrange to swap the potion for something else and make sure Vessio doesn’t notice.”
“Let me know how it goes.” She kissed him on his mouth and he submitted to her.
*****
Narcissa was beside herself. Rabastan slouched in a chair, his robes half unbuttoned.
“Why do you two absolutely have to follow every whim of my insane sister?” she yelled. “The Dark Lord is gone! Look at Lucius – he hardly remembers he used to be a Death Eater!”
“Enough!” Rabastan sprung to his feet and grabbed Narcissa by her shoulders. “We took an oath to serve the noble heir of Salazar Slytherin! He’s gone but we must save the Pure-Bloods! Bellatrix is a true Death Eater, and we must not shame ourselves!”
“That’s stupid, really!” Narcissa did not relent. “Why do you all have to listen to her?”
“Our Pure-Blood honour is at stake, Narcissa, can you understand it?”
“I hate this wizard marriage. You all fuck her like crazy, and she bosses you all!”
“Not me, Narcissa.” His lips were on hers, and he mumbled, “You’re my most beloved.”
Narcissa pulled away and laughed. “Your words make me want to slap you!”
“Then do it.” Rabastan opened his robes, baring his chest.
In a minute they were rolling on the floor, sweaty and messy. Her hands at his throat, she rode him fervently, relishing the treatment she was giving him. Never would she dare it with lordly Lucius. Nor would Rodolphus agree to such an infamy for a wizard.
“Stay out of it,” she whispered, as they lay side by side on the floor rug. “Aurors are determined to bring every active Death Eater down. Lucius has been mixing with the Ministry folks lately.”
“They’re all traitors in the Ministry,” Rabastan muttered.
“Let Bellatrix and Rodolphus get in trouble. We’ll do so much better without them, Rabastan.” Narcissa pressed her breasts against him, knowing how much he liked to fondle them. “Move out of the Lestrange home. You could stay here, if you need.”
“I’ll need to work it out with Rodolphus, “ Rabastan mused. “He’ll give me a hell, if I do it without his agreement.”
“I want Lucius to be stricter with Bellatrix. I’m trying to drive her out of the Manor, but she keeps coming, and Lucius does nothing to discourage her.”
“I’ll sort it out, my beloved,” he whispered, and Narcissa let herself believe him.
*****
Still, the trouble came. Along with other Death Eaters, the Lestranges were arrested for torturing the Longbottoms and the trial was under way. Lucius forbade Narcissa to show in public any interest in the fate of the Lestranges. She knew he was right, but she couldn’t stop thinking about Rabastan’s fate.
Why did they decide to torture the Longbottoms? Of course, the whole thing was conceived by Rodolphus and Bellatrix, and they dragged Rabastan into it. Lucius, being a true lord of his own, dodged it masterfully.
The only way Lucius permitted Narcissa to follow the court proceedings was by reading the Daily Prophet. But it was not enough for her, and she found a way around it.
A house-elf appeared and bowed. “Mr. Snape is here, Mistress.”
“Let him in,” she commanded. To hide her anxiety, she sunk in an armchair and opened a random book.
Snape entered, and his dark eyes set off flutters in her insides. Merlin, what did this man have in him that always stirred her?
“What’s the news, Severus?”
“Not so good. I’m afraid your sister is not quite in her right mind.” Snape handed her a letter. Somehow, he was able to see the Lestranges in the jail and exchange messages with them. Narcissa suspected he was one of the secret key witnesses in the trial.
The letter was long and rambling. Bella was mad and blamed everyone. Narcissa crumpled it in her hand and evaporated it with her wand.
“Any other letters?” she asked.
“From Rabastan?” Snape’s tone made Narcissa wonder how much he knew about her secret marriage to the Lestrange brothers.
“Yes, please.” It came out as a plea for help, but Narcissa felt it was no use to pretend otherwise with Severus.
“He sent nothing. I think he’s withdrawing into himself.” Snape straightened and his eyes bore into Narcissa’s face. “Apparently, the Dementors affect him a lot.”
“Could you pass my letter on to him?” she asked. “I’ll write it now.”
As her quill danced on the parchment, she was aware of his presence by the side of her desk. His long fingers rested on the polished wood surface, and she suddenly wondered how they would feel on her skin. But in spite of his intelligence, clearly superior to both Lestrange brothers, Severus was only a Half-Blood, and Narcissa knew she’d better keep her thoughts to herself.
Narcissa re-read the letter to make sure it wouldn’t betray anything to an outsider. She folded the letter and gave it to Snape. Their fingers touched, and, for a moment, his lips pursed as if he wanted to kiss her hand. But he didn’t, and Narcissa was relieved when he left the room.
She gazed into space, unable to muster herself to do anything. Earlier, she wanted to put Rabastan’s portrait on her desk, but now it didn’t seem to matter much. Although she kept thinking of her lover, her bond with him seemed to loosen a lot. She had never cared for Rodolphus much, though.
Thankfully, she hadn’t gotten pregnant from either of the Lestrange brothers. The powerful marital spells rendered any regular contraception potion useless, but Severus, an expert potioneer, was able to produce a far more potent concoction. He was so smart that Narcissa didn’t even have to explain the whole magical ritual thing to him. Never mind that his potions could taste outright strange. The last time she drank his contraceptive potion, it tasted of burnt leather, not of the usual peach and cardamom. When Narcissa demanded an explanation, Severus, in his impenetrable tone, said that he had run out of a certain ingredient and substituted it with something else. He assured her it wouldn’t affect the potency of the potion. That half-Muggle could be so annoying.
*****
The verdict came soon. Lucius had expected it from the start, and was relieved when the trial was over. The Malfoys had successfully avoided getting implicated in the crimes, and Lucius congratulated himself for his cleverness. His only concern was Narcissa’s reaction. He knew she still held a small hope of relief for Rabastan.
“The sentence is final. None of the family is going to appeal,” Lucius informed her during a dinner. “The Lestranges will spend the rest of their lives in Azkaban.”
Her face became frozen, but she didn’t interrupt her meal.
“I wouldn’t expect anything different, darling.” Lucius was glad Narcissa met the news with dignity, like a true Pure-Blood witch. “We are fortunate not to get implicated.”
“How good we and Draco are safe. You handled it so well, my Lucius.” Perfectly composed, Narcissa finished her wine. “I think I’ll go and see our little darling before it’s bedtime for him.”
Lucius refilled his glass with more Firewhisky. Indeed, the Malfoys were very lucky to extricate themselves from the prosecution.
He missed Bella but the raven-haired beauty had been increasingly difficult to deal with. While Lucius favored a more restrained stance, Bellatrix andRodolphus were outright militant in their Pure-Blood zeal. The issues got compounded by Narcissa’s open preference for Rabastan over his eldest brother, which angered the latter. What did she find in Rabastan, who had always been a tag-along since his Hogwarts years?
When the Lestranges launched their revenge on Blood Traitors, Lucius cut nearly all communication with them. When absolutely necessary, Severus acted as a messenger for him and Bellatrix. His lowly friend had enough cunning and smarts for several Pure-Bloods. Lucius was ashamed of how deficient some Pure-Blood families were when it came to defending the old wizarding ideals.
Snape was indispensable when it came to sever Lucius and Narcissa’s magical bond with the Lestranges. Lucius didn’t want to trust it to Vessio since the house-elf was certain to spill it to Druella. The distraught witch begged Lucius to rescue Bellatrix by any means, including an escape from the jail. Of course, Lucius had no desire to risk his or his son’s future for it.
Snape accomplished the delicate task excellently, without asking too many questions. Narcissa didn’t notice anything.
Very satisfied with himself, Lucius finished his Firewhisky and left the dining room. When passing by the door to Draco’s suite, he peeked inside. Narcissa sat with their son in her lap, and the boy tugged at her silver necklace. She was the epitome of a Pure-Blood mother. That what the Malfoys were to the world now: a respectable Pure-Blood family, perfectly in step with the modern times.
While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error. The AFF system includes a rigorous and complex abuse control system in order to prevent improper use of the AFF service, and we hope that its deployment indicates a good-faith effort to eliminate any illegal material on the site in a fair and unbiased manner. This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
