Hermione winced as she tried to shrug her coarse black robe on to her sunburned shoulders. The Hogwarts greenhouse had been particularly stifling today, and she'd opted to do her extra-credit Herbology project in shorts and a slim-fitting tank-top. It was apparent that the blistering sun had scorched her normally smooth, white skin to a rather serious degree. She whimpered to herself and gently attempted to maneuver the robes onto her lean body once more. She hissed under her breath as the fabric painfully scraped over her skin; "I think it's time for a visit to Madam Pomfrey" she muttered, gathering her books and heading back into the castle proper.

Severus Snape strode down the corridor; his black boots clicking steadily on the smooth, marble floors. It was an uncharacteristically warm day for this time of year, and although the stone walls of the castle deflected much of the heat, he still felt unpleasant. Though his shoulder length black locks were tired back at the nape of his neck, stray tendrils had escaped and were curling slightly near his face. He scowled and swiped at the small beads of sweat on his forehead; it was definitely time to retire to the cool dampness of the dungeon. He continued down the corridor and rounded the corner. "Oomph" he gasped as he ran headlong into a student, sending her sprawling across the floor. He looked down into the face of one very flushed, young Griffyndor. "Granger," he spat, "I can only assume that in your haste to solve some fanciful new secret, you've forgotten how to watch where you're headed". Hermione lay on the floor, her warm brown eyes glazed with confusion and pain. She shuffled up onto her elbow "S..sorry prof..professor". Snape's head snapped up to take in the state of the girl. Her normally frizzy hair was soaked and hung in heavy ringlets. Her face was red damp and her breathing slightly laboured. He crouched beside her curiously. "Are you quite alright, Miss Granger? You seem.." he pursed his lips "rather out of sorts". He used his wand to lift the shoulder of her robe away from her body. Bright red burns stared back at him angrily. He laid a smooth, cool hand across her burning forehead. She winced.
"I.. was in the greenhouse" she stammered, shakily. Snape shook his head and let the robe drop back to her skin ; she groaned with discomfort. "I need to see Madam Pomfrey" she whispered. Snape shook his head almost imperceptibly. "I think not" he murmured. "Madam Pomfrey is overrun with patients after an unfortunate accident in Slughorn's potions class. At the very least, you have heat exhaustion, possibly heat stroke. You need fluids and a cool place to rest. I'll take you to the dungeon". Before she could protest, he slid one hand under her knees and gently slipped the other behind her back. He grunted as he lifted the teenager off the floor and headed for the spiral staircase that lead to his domain.
Hermione rested her head against Snape's chest, closing her eyes against her increasingly blurry vision. She breathed deeply as they descended into the cool dungeon air, her small body beginning to shake. "You appear to have the chills" Snape said, calmy, his voice reverberating through his chest and against her ear. She put on a brave face "I'm fine. J..just thirss.ss.ssty". She couldn't see Snape roll his eyes, but she could almost feel it. "Granger, you may be brilliant but you haven't an ounce of common sense". He descended down the last few stairs and rounded the corner to his office. "Lilium Bulbiferm'" he muttered, and the door creaked open. He stepped inside and allowed it to close behind him.

Hermione felt herself being gently placed on a leather sofa, the cool surface soothing her overly warm face. She opened her eyes and looked up into the scowling face of her potions professor. "Stay here," he said brusquely, turning away towards his store room, "and don't. Touch. Anything". Hermione winced at his tone of voice, and gritted her teeth and she attempted to sit up. The cool air had cleared her vision and she took in her surroundings. The walls of the room were dark green slate, the floor and ceiling tiled with a creamy coloured marble. A multitude of sconces ran about the room, casting warm firelight onto every surface. The leather couch she sat on was adjacent to a matching wing chair and small polished side table. As she watched, a glass magically appeared beside her, and began to fill with water. She lifted the glass to her lips, grateful for the cool liquid inside. She drained the glass and smiled as it refilled itself. She went to take another sip but was interrupted "Slowly, Miss Granger," advised the low, smooth voice of her professor "you'll make yourself ill".
The sudden reappeaance of Snape startled Hermione, and she jumped, dropping the glass to the floor. Shards of crystal littered the floor, laying like iridescent pieces of ice in the spilled water. Hermione raised her hand to her mouth, "I'm so sorry" she whispered between her fingers. Snape sneered slightly "My fault. I should have realized you'd need a sippy cup." With that he, flicked his wand and conjured a toddler's spill-proof drinking cup. Hermione hung her head, blushing in humiliation. "I think that's unnecessary, sir" she muttered. Snape rolled his eyes once more and poured a beaker of translucent blue potion into the children's drinking vessel. "Actually," he said, closing the lid carefully "this recovery potion requires a very exact dose. I can't have you spilling a drop or it will be ineffective. And frankly," he continued, handing her the plastic cup, "I haven't the time nor desire to brew you any more." She attempted to take the cup from him with shaky hands. It was apparent that no new cup was going to make this a simple task. Snape exhaled in exasperation and lifted the spout to her lips. He laid his free hand on the back of her head and tilted the cup towards her.
She groaned as she swallowed the potion. It felt that it was somehow warm and cold at once, like her favourite muggle treat, fried ice cream. She felt her faculties returning to her; her heart slowed and her hands steadied. She reached up to take the cup from Snape's hands, her small fingers bushing his lightly. She swallowed the last of the mixture, licked her lips and sighed in appreciation. "Thanks" she said, looking gratefully into Snape's liquid black eyes. Snape regarded her quietly for a moment, then spoke a single word:
"Disrobe"
