Hello readers, this idea has been incubating in my twisted little brain for some time now, of course this is just the prologue, nice and sweet no hint of what's to come, enjoy.

Prologue
“Can you believe we’re going back?” Hermione smiled as she looked through the window of the Hogwarts Express, the tree line dancing quickly past her eyes.
“You know, I thought skipping that year to search for Horcruxes would give us honorary degrees at the very least.” Ron said gloomily. “Of course mum said I had to go back to look after Ginny and finish.”
“Well, she’s right you know, someone in the family needs to get a good paying and respectable job.” The other red head in the compartment sighed and crossed her arms.
“I don’t think anyone ever had what one would call a respectable occupation in my family.” Luna stated in that all too matter of fact way that was all hers.
Harry on the other hand had remained relatively quiet through out the entire ride reading the latest copy of The Quibbler. He did want to finish his magical education, he just no longer knew if he wanted to become an Auror, he very much felt as if he had had enough adventure for a lifetime. He needed a calm, quiet occupation, perhaps even one that would have him working mostly with non-humans. That general population didn’t seem to care that he was the boy who lived, ... again. He turned, closing the magazine on his lap and decided to join the conversation.
“Just please promise me, no one get into any trouble, of any kind this year, I can’t take it. I just want a normal, quiet year.”
“Oh come on mate! When has it ever been quiet with the three of us?” Ron thought Harry was joking, and punched his shoulder.
Sighing Harry looked at him. “I’m serious, I want to study this year, choose my career, begin a real life, not the life of the chosen one.”
Hermione smiled at this.
“Of course, I’ve been telling the two of you for seven years to listen to me. As soon as Professor McGonagall gives us our schedules, I’ll make the two of you color coded study tables.”
“Hermione! We haven’t even gotten to Hogsmead yet!” Ron whined, astonished.
“I’d appreciate one of those as well Hermione, if you don’t mind.” Neville piped up, he had been engrossed in a herbology book for the majority of the ride, adding his two cents as he saw fit. “I want to do better in all my subjects, not just herbology.”
“I suppose I might as well join in on all the fun.” Ginny sounded defeated. “You don’t mind do you Hermione? I’m just going to try out for every Quidditch team possible when I get out, but having good grades as well will help.”
“What about you Luna, would you like one too?”
“Yes, thank you, that would be delightful, although I’m not sure I’ve ever really studied before, I’ve always just sat down and let the answers come to me. I especially find that technique useful after a thunder storm.”
“Schedules all around then.” Beamed the bushy haired brunette.
The compartment fell silent and everyone went back to what they were doing, until a knock on the door was heard, which slid open without anyone inviting the person in.
“Better get your robes on Potter, conductor says we’ll be there in five minutes.”
All eyes stared at Draco. Was that civility that just escaped his lips?
“So? What if we don’t want to put robes on, suppose I fancy a stark naked stroll ‘round campus?” Ron answered sarcastically.
“Then that’ll be 5 points from Gryffindor for indecent exposure, courtesy of the Head Boy.”
“Like bloody hell you’re head boy!”
“Ron, quit it, he is. I told you this last week when we received out letters, Draco and I are both heads, don’t you remember anything?” Draco was still standing in the door way. Hermione raised an eyebrow at him, daring him to say something else. She also briefly wondered why Harry was not pointing his wand at Draco’s throat. “Thank you Malfoy, you can close the door after you.”
Draco turned with a flounce to rival that of Professor Snape’s robes billowing behind him despite the lack of wind. As soon at the compartment door clicked closed, Ron turned to Harry, seething.
“Well?”
“What?” Harry ventured.
“That was Draco the former Death Eater being... I don’t know, nice, and usually you’re the one to insinuate that he would be up to something...”
“Ron! Everyone has been through hell and back. Draco isn’t up to something. He’s here just like everyone else trying to finish and graduate, that’s all. His parents are in Azkaban, the Malfoy fortune is no more, he’ll need a job just like you do by the end of June. Furthermore, he only took the Dark Mark, he was never truly a Death Eater.” Hermione sighed and continued. “Just give it a rest will you. You can’t even honor your best friends wishes.”
Ron of course had the decency to look thoroughly chastised.
“Mione’s right, it’s a clean cauldron for all of us.” Neville agreed. “Besides, he’s the only Slytherin from our year to return.”
They didn’t need to be reminded of what happened to Crabbe and Goyle. Harry sighed, not even at the station yet, and already things were heading south. For just this once, couldn’t the school year be uneventful?
