Hello one and all! Thank you to everyone who has posted reviews during my absence from putting up new work--I've been reading every single one of them! Life has been crazy for this past year. But just because I wasn't posting, doesn't mean I wasn't writing. So here is a new story! Enjoy! And as always, please review.

Chapter One
Leaving the party early had been for the best, Hermione thought, as she was walking towards her flat. Seeing Ron and Luna so happy, no matter the fact that she was the one to break up with him, hurt. She had known that he would be happy and would find someone quick enough, but she didn’t think it would have only taken one month to do it. Hermione ended up going straight over to the Three Broomsticks.
She ordered a bottle of fire whiskey and took up the table in the corner of the room. Hermione had been sitting there for all of five minutes when it felt as if she were being watched. Trying to ignore it, she went back to drinking her whiskey.
“Miss Granger, you would have been the last person I would have thought to go out drinking all by yourself.” She looked up into the obsidian eyes of one Headmaster Snape. “So where is Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley this evening?”
“At Ron’s engagement party, if you must know,” she murmured. “And what may I ask are you doing here?”
“He is here to have a drink with me,” Lucius Malfoy told her as he walked up next to his friend.
“Mr. Malfoy,” she sighed, feeling as if her day had gone from worse to absolutely horrible.
His brow arched. “Miss Granger.”
She downed the rest of her shot, pouring herself another one as she said, “Would you two gentlemen care to join me for a drink? I’m drinking crap, but it accomplishes the task.”
“Allow me to provide the drink then,” Lucius murmured as he waved down a server. “A bottle of top shelf Old Ogden’s Fire Whiskey.” Severus and Lucius sat down in the chairs near Hermione. “To what are we drinking to?”
Hermione thought it over. “I was only getting drunk. But if you wish to find a reason to do so, how about not getting married to a Weasley?”
“I’m all for that,” Severus said, handing her a new glass of whiskey.
“Thank you,” she murmured, looking at the dark amber color of the liquor in front of her. “Here’s to not marrying Ron Weasley.” She took a sip of her drink. “I’m happy for him, but I’m telling you staying at the party was like getting dung rubbed in my face.”
“Just how much have you had to drink, Miss Granger?” Severus asked her.
“I don’t know. Let me see.” She picked up the bottle and looked at it. “That much.” She handed the bottle that was a quarter empty. “Why?”
“Just curious,” he replied, looking over to see Bill at the bar watching over her and had been from the looks of him since she had gotten to the pub.
Frowning she looked over to see what he was looking at. Rolling her eyes, she looked back over to Severus. “What is it with Weasley men? Overprotective and good people, and yet the moment you open your mouth and tell them how you feel, they either fuck anything that breathes that isn’t you or they tell you they’re gay.” She took a sip of her drink. “Where is the justice in that?”
“Is that so?” Hermione looked over her head and found Bill glaring down at her.
Her face broke out into a grin. “Bill! I didn’t see you there.”
“Hmm, you don’t say.”
“Yes, I would have added that Percy is a prig, the twins are narcissistic, and you have ‘trust issues’,” she said casually, listening to the two former Slytherins chuckling from next to her. She let out a little belch. “Have I mentioned I’m drunk?”
“Charlie isn’t gay,” he told her.
“He told me he was. So he’s either lying to you or to me. And seeing as I had his cock in my hand when he said it and he wasn’t doing much of anything other then lie in my grasp, I think its you he hasn’t told the truth to.”
Bill let out a growl and was about to say something when Hermione stood up. “There is no way I’m going to be shackled to a possessive, closed minded…” She shook off Bill’s hand and snapped, “Enough! I’m not interested.” Taking a deep breath, she said, “Why don’t you go off and find Lavender Brown again? You seemed really comfortable the last time I saw you with her.”
Bill’s face went a vivid red, as Hermione walked away to the loo.
“Really, Mr. Weasley,” Severus said casually. “If you’re involved with another witch, why pray tell, are you acting like a possessive ass?”

Hermione sat in the bathroom stall, wishing she could hide from the world in that moment. She rubbed at her temples, wishing she had not come to this place. Her hands covered her face even as she admitted to herself that there were so many things that she wished were different. She wished she could be better at relationships. Her arms went tightly around herself, feeling more alone than ever.
The door to the restroom opened quietly. Within the next seconds so did the door to the stall she was sitting in. Hermione didn’t look up as she felt two strong arms lifting her up and taking her out of the facilities. She felt another hand brushing over her face, as she felt the rumbling of a voice as well as heard another one close by.
Her arms went around the man, pressing her face into the crook of his neck. Hermione felt the man stiffen when she did so, but soon he relaxed and even felt as he pressed a kiss to her head.
“We’ll be home soon, love,” he purred against her forehead.
Soon they were disapperating, but to where she didn’t know or care. Hermione felt motion, but didn’t pay any mind as to where they were going. She was being set down and the next thing she knew was given sober up potion.
“They are swine.” She looked over to see Lucius Malfoy watching her intently. “Why else treat a gem such as you as they have?” He reached out and stroked her hair away from her face.
“I don’t know. What have I been doing wrong?” she asked.
“I couldn’t say.” It was Severus who said as much.
She looked from one to the other, squeezed her eyes shut and asked hoarsely, “Why did you bring me here?”
“You needed a friend,” Lucius told her.
“And you want to be my friends?” she asked, genuinely confused.
“No,” Severus told her. “Merlin no! But seeing as we both owe you a life debt...”
“And frankly we like you better than most,” Lucius put in. “We thought to help you.”
Blinking owlishly. “How?”
“We are going to help to get someone for you,” Severus said, totally unbelieving that he was saying what he was. “You want someone. It’s obvious.”
She nodded. “I’m straight.”
“A man then,” Snape muttered. “Whatever the case, we are going to find you a man.”
“Weasleys need not apply,” Lucius drawled, going over to his desk and taking out a quill as well as a parchment. “We need to know what you’re looking for in a man so that we don’t make the same mistakes you are.”
“You’re serious?” She leapt to her feet. “You finding me a-a…what? A husband? A lover? What?”
“Both of those things and more I would hope,” Severus said casually.
“We want to find you a soul mate,” Lucius stated.
She looked at them in disbelief. “You’re out of your minds!”
“Why?” Severus asked her.
“Because you two are the last people on this planet I would go to in order to find me so much as a-a pet!” She held up her hand to stop them from interrupting her. “Mind you, if I had plans for world domination, you two would be the first on my list.”
Before they could say anything more, she turned and left the sitting room. Hermione was well on her way to the front door when someone caught her arm and pulled her into the room she was passing. She found herself being pulled down a corridor straight back over to the room she had left! Or at least she thought it was the same room. They weren’t very imaginative in the decoration, she thought, even as she spun around to blast whomever it was who pulled her there.
Draco Malfoy was leaning against the door of the room, tossing the key in his hand lightly as he watched her intently.
“I have to say that I never would have expected you to be a part of my father’s and godfather’s little games,” he murmured, tossing the key away and quickly forgot about it as he walked deeper into the room.
“What games are you talking about?” she asked him. “They want, Merlin help me, to play the matchmaker for me!”
That stopped him short. “What?”
“You heard me!” she snapped. “It’s so weird! Since they both owe me a life debt they feel it’s their duty to find me my soul mate!” She let out a hiccuping sob. “My life is so pathetic!” She sat down hard.
“Granger, you’re exaggerating,” he told her as he went over to sit down next to her.
She looked at him. “If you had those two telling you that they were going to try to find your soul mate, would you or would you not be calling your life pathetic?”
“Desperate perhaps, but not pathetic,” he murmured, reaching over to comb a curl out of her face. “Mostly on their parts, I might add.”
She slumped onto the lounge, crossing her arms over her chest. “You know the sad thing?”
He moved so that he was sitting closer next to her. “What?”
“There’s a part of me that thinks I need them to find a man for me,” she told him. “I can’t seem to do it myself.”
“You know what you need?”
“For my best friend not to be gay?” she whispered.
“Thank you, dear heart, but I didn’t mean that,” he said casually putting his arm over her shoulders. “No, you need confidence…”
“And to get laid,” she said with a nod.
“That wouldn’t hurt either,” he sighed.
She looked over to him. “They want to save me from spinsterhood, yet it never occurred to them that I would want to be a part of a sandwich with them.”
“Hermione, you don’t mean that. You just want one man.”
“Yes, but at this point I’m willing to take both of them just to be able to say I’ve had an orgasm,” she muttered, resting her head on his shoulder. “What am I going to do?”
