A/N: This one came to me rather suddenly. I had absolutely no intention of starting another story until I'd finished Benefactor but... I am weak willed. This will be a creature fic as well so if you don't like that please hit back. And yes, I know this first chapter is a tease but I'm already working on the next one and I didn't want this to give away too much too soon.
It was late; the clock tower had just finished ringing out one single chime. It was still early in the term and most students were in their common rooms sleeping after having stayed up late and catching up with friends. The corridors were utterly empty. Not even the ghosts or Mrs. Norris were wandering around. It was a somewhat cloudy fall night and that made the already dark interior of the castle even darker.
Violence rippled through the air of the empty classroom. Desks scraped across the floor and muffled cries of pain were mixed with the clear sounds of flesh being slammed against. The struggle continued and wood splintered angrily. More furniture toppled and there was an impact of something hitting the ground hard. Blood scented the room as the struggle continued for another few moments. There were grunts and cries but no words. Finally, the struggle ceased though the cries continued.
Wands flashed in the dark classroom just before it all went silent again. The echoes of violence still racked the room as a single figure slipped out and headed down the corridor at a calm, relaxed pace.
It wouldn’t be until the morning that the evidence of the violence would be found. A shriek of horror by one of the ghosts that had been passing through on her way to the Great Hall alerted the school. It didn’t take long at all for the news to spread like Fiend Fyre. Owls were sent racing through the morning skies as the Headmaster and several teachers levitated a limp figure up to Hospital Wing. In the Great Hall, students murmured and whispered to each other.
