Hermione stood on platform nine and three quarters surrounded by her peers. The peers she had nothing in common with; the ones she'd never interacted with before. Of her friends, she'd been the only one to choose to return to Hogwarts after the war for her seventh year. Harry and Ron hadn't cared about the whole situation, stating that a year out in the real world had been all the education they needed. No matter how much she huffed and puffed and whined at them, neither budged on the subject. Her attempts to change their minds had only stopped when Ginny had listened to enough of it. The moment the fiery redhead raised her voice and said "Hermione, if you don't drop it right now, I'll hex you into next year. Neither of them want to go and they're ok with that. Stop pushing your agenda on other people" had changed everything for the trio.
Harry had stared at his girlfriend with a gob smacked expression while Ron cowered away from both the witches. The friction between the two girls had been so thick ever since the event, not even a severing spell could have cut the tension. Harry and Ron had been left between a rock and a hard place. Harry couldn't give up his best friend, nor could he let go of the love of his life. In the end, he chose to be as neutral as possible but distanced himself from Hermione. Which left her with Ron. When the girls had first had their altercation, Ron had tried to pretend nothing was wrong. But, Hermione couldn't help feeling resentment rolling off him. After the victory at the Battle of Hogwarts, they had been dating. Kind of. They'd gone on a few dates and shared a few kisses. Every time they did more than a peck here and there, Hermione felt as if something was missing. She felt no spark. At least not like she had the first time they'd kissed. As Ron became more and more persistent that he wanted more than a snogging session, Hermione became more distant. In the end she'd broken off their blossoming relationship.Shaking the memories of the past few months from her mind, she looked around the train station to see if there were any friendly and familiar faces on the platform. She easily spotted the Weasley clan ushering Ginny, and possibly Luna, onto the train. A twinge of longing coursed through her. These last few weeks had felt like torture for her. She started walking towards the group but stopped in her tracks when she saw Ron staring at her. The look in his eyes told her two things: he wasn't okay and he did not want her near.Hermione hung her head down and wiped away a tear before stepping on the train. It was bad enough that she'd permanently erased her parents' memories - now she'd lost her adoptive family too. Sniffling slightly, she found an empty carriage and sat down. Hermione was completely lost in her own thoughts and never noticed the blond loading his trunk into the carriage. She sat still, staring out the window, with silent tears streaking her cheeks.
"Granger, why are you sitting here bawling? Where are Weasley and Potter?" the silken voice of Draco Malfoy asked. Hermione just kept on looking out the window, ignoring the Slytherin. "Fine, be that way," he said as he sat down at the other end and cracked open a book. The two sat silently until Ginny burst through the door."You bitch!" she screamed, staring Hermione in the eye, "Ron has been in a right state because of you. All he wanted to do was make you happy. But was that good enough for the know-it-all princess, no! You decided that because I told you off, he had to suffer. 'Different goals' my arse."Hermione took the verbal assault like it was what she deserved. Not once did she interrupt, nor did she attempt to make excuses. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Malfoy standing up with his wand drawn, stepping closer to the hot tempered witch as she screamed. "Weasley, I suggest you shut up. You are interrupting my last moments of peace and quiet before I get stuck in a school full of idiots again. I might be tolerating your family these days, but I will not let my alone time be disrupted so blatantly."Ginny went to turn on him and give him an ear full when her mouth got spelled shut. Not a word had escaped anybody's lips, yet there she stood unable to even part her lips. "Get out," Hermione whispered, so quietly that neither of the people standing in front of her heard her. She said it again with more confidence and urgency, "get out!" Ginny crossed her arms, planted her feet and looked at Hermione with a 'what are you going to do about it' look. Hermione was no longer sad, she no longer felt guilt or depression or anxiety. All she felt was pure anger. As she balled up her fists, she felt an intense amount of energy surge through her. The hair on her head felt like it was standing up straight from the amount of power about to erupt. "I SAID GET OUT!" She bellowed, her wandless hands suddenly in front of her. The carriage door opened and Ginny flew into the hall, her arms and legs flailing about. "Damn, Granger, remind me to never piss you off like that," Draco murmured right before her world went black and she fell to the floor.-*-*-*-*-The world was dark around Hermione but she could feel people near her. She could hear snippets of conversation, "it sounds like she over exerted her magic and drained herself of power."A slight sniffle was heard before she heard Molly Weasley's voice, "will she be okay?" A warm hand enveloped hers, clutching on like she wasn't there. "Yes, Minerva and I expect she will be to her old self in a few days. She just needs to rest and regain her energy." She was subconsciously trying to place the voice. It was familiar but held warmth she'd never noticed before and it was confusing her. "Thank you Severus, for owling us. We've been so worried about her." Molly said, holding onto Hermione even tighter. She then heard he familiar swish of his robes, his heavy steps and the door opening and closing behind him."Granger, you can stop pretending to be asleep now." She heard Draco say as a weight shifted onto her bed. Letting out a groan she didn't even know she was holding, she slowly opened her eyes and raised a hand to her face.Suddenly she was being held close to Molly's chest. Molly's heart was beating rapidly; the death grip she had on the young woman could have put a boa constrictor to shame. Hermione noticed the small smile on Malfoy's lips as she sputtered. "Good to see you're still alive," the blond chuckled as he stood up and walked out the hospital wing. Hermione felt awkward having Molly fuss over her. Everybody hated her. What did Molly mean when she said they'd been worried? "Molly, stop," she gently said as she placed her hand over the older woman's. Molly had meant to tuck Hermione in, but she had to draw a line somewhere. "Please, I'm fine. I'm sure you have more important things to worry about than me," she croaked.Molly slowly shook her head. "No, you're like a daughter to me. I will not leave you right now."A small, feminine cough was heard from across the room. Hermione finally noticed Ginny laying there. Ginny was outraged by what she’d heard her mother say, "what about your real daughter? Mum? She flung me into the corridor without a second thought!"
Molly stood up, walked over to her daughter and whispered something in her ear. Suddenly, Ginny went very pale, "but...Ron said...they never..." Molly came back and took Hermione's hand. She was confused beyond belief.
"Hermione, dear, when you unleashed your magic, you lost the baby," Molly whispered. Hermione shook her head. "No," she whispered, placing her hand over her abdomen "I can't have been pregnant. Ron and I never..." Hermione fell quiet as Molly got up and hugged her close.
"When I told him about the baby, he told me what he did to you when you broke it off." Moly whispered bringing the girl as close to her chest as possible. She gently rocked the distressed girl until there were no more tears to be shed.-------Author's note: 1. Snape survivded the war. Idk why but he did. I just can't let go of him.
2. I'm reposting this. I took it down so I could fix it up :) (I also had a major case of self-doubt-itis!)
