A/N~ So I have been working on this in the background of Fate Falls... This will NOT (I think) be a very super long novel fic. It will be a chapter fic, but the chapters will not be as long as my novel fic. Short chapters. Have fun and enjoy. And as always reviews are greatly enjoyed. OH and where in cannon does this fall, Ignores Epilogue... Obviously... just after the downfall...

Chapter 1
A soft hand caressed the cold stone, dark and grey just like the mood. Eyes saw nothing but grey, wandering through stone halls, down stone corridors and down stone steps.
The hand slid against each cold surface of hardness, needing to feel something strong and sure. Harry Potter, savior of the wizarding world was numb. He had given up the power over Death, died for intents, and then survived to become a murderer. And yet the world rejoiced. He did not refuse them their joy, he just could not participate in it. The walls that surrounded him whispered to him. Conversations in his mind of days gone past. Years of laughter and torment filled his mind. Harry sighed, he needed space and time to adjust. He found himself in a very familiar place, his fingers tracing a cold silver snake. He whispered the words and slipped down. Opening the large door, he walked into the chamber that held a place in his memory. He sat down, the floor was wet, seeping into his clothing, sending a chill through him. Yet he did not care. In this private world, he let the tears fall. He was silent in his grief, no sobs or screams filled the room. Tears just streamed down in a steady flow as he shut his emerald eyes.
He let the visions of the dead dance across his mind. He would remember them all, remember their names, their lives, their smiles and their accomplishments. Harry stood suddenly, not once stopping the flow. He moved to one wall and raised his wand, etching the names in a glittering gold script upon the walls. He whispered some of his memories for each name.
"Remus Lupin, marauder, teacher, father and husband."
"Tonks Lupin, Auror, friend, wife, mother, and Metamorphmagus."
"Lavender Brown, Student, Gryffindor, bubbly and vivacious."
And so on... he remembered them all. He spoke their names reverently, softly and sorrowfully.
For the last and final name, he chose not to etch it upon the wall, but upon Slytherin's form itself.
"Severus Tobias Snape, Hogwarts Headmaster, Slytherin Head of House, Potions Master, Spy, Friend, Savior of us all."
Harry knelt in the puddle of water gathered, his tears the only heat his body felt.
He laid down in the puddle, letting the cold seep into him. He stared up at the cold stone ceiling wishing to be swept away like the sea in its tide.
Death it seemed was none too eager to claim him. A new warmth seeped into his bones, from the bowels of Hogwarts the heat sprung and what was once a welcome cold turned into a soothing heat. His muscles seemed to unbunch and loosen. His head felt like it was cradled, and he let his eyes close.
His mind drifted then, no nightmares presented themselves, only peace. His life was complete, he felt there was no more left to give. It seemed though, life was not done with him. He opened his eyes to the feeling of being watched. He sat up only to notice that somehow the sorting hat had found its way to the Chamber with him. He moved to pick it up, sitting in the warm water, his hands took the water to cleanse the debris and ash off the old hat. It seemed to preen under his touch. Out of curiosity he put the hat on, water dripping from its aged brim.
"Mr. Potter, the traits in you are rare. So often I place a person in one house because they belong there or are capable of achieving a valued trait. You belong to each one, you embody the elements prized by each house. Hufflepuff's compassion and inclusion, Ravenclaw's wisdom and intelligence, Gryffindor's loyalty and courage, and Slytherin cunning and resourcefulness. There is not one house where you would suffer to fit in." The sorting hat stated.
"Why now, what purpose does it serve to tell me now?" Harry asked sighing quietly, he just wanted to rest.
"You need to know, so you can choose." The Sorting hat replied.
"Choose what?"
"Choose to be the first who is worthy of a visit, or deny them the one chance to help you." The sorting hat merely whispered to him.
"I have nothing left... I won't deny anyone." Harry replied with as much energy as he could muster, which was not much as he sat with his back against the large stone mouth of Slytherin.
"Then rest... They will see you soon." And with that the hat dissolved off his head.
Harry's head lulled back and the warmth overtook his tired and worn body. As he slept, the waters curled around him, sealing cuts and healing bruises along the way.
