Zuria walked into the pub....bar. I had to get used to thinking of the words in the American sense. I was going to be here for another month. I walked up to the bar and grabbed a stool. I nodded as the bartender came up and I laid a sickle down.
"Start me off with a fire whiskey," I said.
The bartender nods and scurries off, taking the sickle with him. I look around and see the bar is fairly full. I nod. The patrons vary, from witches and wizards, to, I swear, a demon in the back booth. I watch the demon and see a younger witch back near him. I watch, sipping my fire whiskey when it arrives. I see the witch bend over a bit and talk to him, but I can't see what she says. I can see him though. Wearing a black leather jacket, over a white shirt that was just a little tight. His jeans were slung artfully low on his hips. His hands were broad and, I saw, bore talons. His face, I gasped when he turned after sensing my gaze, was handsome. A demon with skull features, that you could just barely see the actual look of his face under. I watched, as the woman leaned in closer and he returned to her, showing his boredom. I saw him say no thanks, but couldn't hear it. I watches as, what I thought was exasperation, darts across his face as the witch persists. The witch grabs his jacket and I launch up. I grab my glass and the bottle, smirking as I walk over. My white button up shirt is covered by a black leather support. my long legs are cased in black jeggings and heels on my feet, which clack as I approach.
"Didn't your mom ever teach you to take no for an answer," Zuria asks. The witch turns and glares.
"We are just fine here," she insists.
"Really? Because from what it looked like, he was turning down your generous offer," Zuria observes.
"And who called you over? You're just a half-blood! Leave us pure-blood witches to our men," she sneers.
I smirk and sets the bottle down, before pulling my wand from my cleavage. As I do so, the low lighting glints off of a ring on my right ring finger. If looked at closely, one would see a shield bearing crossed wands with a Coronet around them. I raise my wand as my eyes glow gold.
"If you do not want to end up in the back alley, having no idea of who you are or how you got there, I would leave this man alone," I snarls, pointing my wand threateningly.
The witch gulps, twitches, then leaves quickly. I return my wand to my cleavage and look at the man...demon. I smile.
"I do apologize about that. They don't raise them properly here in America. Now, if you were in Britain, you wouldn't have had that happen. May I sit," I ask, my voice lilting heavy towards a British accent, gesturing to the seat across from him. He nods.
"No apology needed. She wasn't yours to deal with. What is your name," he inquires as I sit, pouring myself another glass.
"Zuria. Zuria Prince. And they call you," I trail off, looking at him.
"Agmos," he says, before returning to his drink.
I stared. Agmos. I knew demons were masters of three things. If I had to guess from his expressions, and the incident with the younger witch, Lust was one of them. I was enthralled though. This demon reminded me of my ex-fiancee, Regulus Black. He was dark and mysterious, but also calming and protective. I smiled as I drank. I deliberately took a gulp of firewhiskey as the memories assaulted me for a moment. my hearing of my betrothal, meeting Reggy, falling in love, hearing about his death, mourning at his closed casket burial and plot. Maybe I would give him a chance. But, I decided, not to be too eager like that witch. I smirked as I decided to be a puzzle to him.
We talk, I have cast a barrier spell to prevent any other women trying to throw themselves at him. We talked of inconsequential things as the night went on. Every time he tried to ask personal questions about me, I deflected them. As the night grew late, I noted the time and stood.
"I've got to get home. I have work in the morning. It was nice to meet you Agmos. I'll see you around," I walked to the door. Not too far behind me I sensed him following my. I slip outside and pull my wand. Raising it, I twist to apparate, catching his intrigued expression as I leave.
Agmos' POV
Sensing the magic nearby in the wards, I head to the building. Generally, most other mortals with magic tend to leave me alone. Walking in, I head to the back, taking a booth. The waitress sees me and brings me a bottle of bourbon, indicating it is on the house. I smile at her and pour myself a drink, before sipping. I watch the patrons of the bar and smirk quietly. After being there for about 30 minutes, a young witch walks up to me, trying to act all sexy. I roll my eyes and sigh.
"hey, hot stuff, want to go to my house? I bet I could make you happy," she says, arriving.
I snorted. "You couldn't handle me if you tried," I comment, taking a drink.
The door chimes again as another patron walks in. I don't pay attention first, as I'm busy with this witch, who has now bent over my table.
"Are you sure? I am the heiress of the most prominent purebloods here in America, I always get what I want," she says, dragging a hand down her chest.
I go to speak, then feel eyes on me. I turn and see another witch at the bar, holding a glass. She gasps, allowing me to see the sharper than average canines. Vampire, I amend my earlier thought. I smirk and turn back to the twit in front of me.
"No, thank you," I sigh, annoyance flashing across my face. I could easily handle this chit, but suddenly the sound of clicking heels is heard heading our way. I look up, unseen, as I see the vampire approach.
"Didn't your mom ever teach you to take no for an answer," she asks. The witch turns and glares.
"We are just fine here," she insists.
"Really? Because from what it looked like, he was turning down your generous offer," the vampire observes.
"And who called you over? You're just a half-blood! Leave us pure-blood witches to our men," the witch sneers.
The vampire smirks and sets the bottle down, before pulling her wand from her cleavage. As she does so, the low lighting glints off of a ring on her right ring finger. I look at it closely. I saw a shield bearing crossed wands with a Coronet around them. I raise my eyebrow as her eyes glow gold.
"If you do not want to end up in the back alley, having no idea of who you are or how you got there, I would leave this man alone," she snarls, pointing her wand threateningly.
The witch gulps, twitches, then leaves quickly. The vampire returns her wand to her cleavage and looks at me. She smiles
"I do apologize about that. They don't raise them properly here in America. Now, if you were in Britain, you wouldn't have had that happen. May I sit," she asks, her voice is lilting and... is that a british accent i heard? I nod.
"No apology needed. She wasn't yours to deal with. What is your name," I inquire as she sits, pouring myself another glass.
"Zuria. Zuria Prince. And they call you," she, Zuria, trails off.
"Agmos," I say, before returning to my drink.
I see her purposely take a gulp as memories affect her. I leave her to her thinking and run my finger around the rim of my glass. I contemplate the meaning of her name in French, white and lovely. She surely was that. Her vampiric attributes adding to her natural beauty, made her breathtaking. I look at her as she is determined and have a thought occur. Why did she save me? I didn't need saving. And, another follows, Why isn't she afraid of me? I'm the demon of Mischief, Lust, and Anger. Everyone is either afraid of me or lustful towards me. I watch her pull the wand again and wave it, before feeling magic settle beside the table in the aisle, but can only guess at what it does. We talk generally, nothing specific about us. I can tell she is curious, but it's making me curious what she is curious about. My curiosity deepens as she steers any questions about her away from the topic without answering. The night passes and it gets late. She casts a spell that shows glowing numbers of the time in the air. She smiles.
"I've got to get home. I have work in the morning. It was nice to meet you Agmos. I'll see you around," she says, getting up and heading to the door.
I contemplated a moment, before rising and following, determined to see her to her car. The magicals here use cars more than magical transport. She senses me, I can tell. She raises her arm, with her wand, before spinning around. She smirks right before a crack is heard and she disappears. The last thing she sees of me is the open expression of intrigue. I have got to get to know about that vampire and find out what is happening to me.
