Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Harry's heart started beating louder and louder, he could hardly believe what he was about to do but ever since he read that Quibbler interview the idea stuck to his head like a parasite, permeating the entirety of his thoughts.
Thankfully he learned since before his first year that he had the ability to change forms, to shapeshift (it was going to be useful for his plans). A well ingrained sense of wariness and precaution thanks to his life with the Dursleys meant that he was about to start his fourth year of schooling and only one other person knew what he was capable of.
What he was.
A metamorphmagus.
In hindsight, practicing his talents in the second-floor girls' bathroom, with the hope that no one would have any reason to parade around there was pretty dumb. At least he could've gone to the chamber and which, while lacking in illumination and mirrors (not to say it also contained the dead carcass of an enormous basilisk), was certainly the most secret place in Hogwarts he had access to.
He could only thank his lucky star that the one that found out was Astoria Greengrass.
While he still held a healthy amount of suspicion towards the green and silver house, he knew and understood that, at the end of the day, they were merely children trying to get their magical education done. That some of the 'professors' were no more competent at teaching than a dying flobberworm was another matter entirely.
Back to the point. Despite being the younger sister of one of the most unapproachable students in Slytherin, Astoria was like a mini sunshine on the clear skies. She wore her feelings on her sleeve, unafraid of voicing her opinion and unwilling to fall into the herd mentality of 'us against them' that pervaded in her house. Yes, she was cunning and ambitious but, Harry thought to himself, if there ever was one particular student that could bridge and unite the four houses, that student was Astoria.

Little Tori found 'him' while in the middle of changing forms, he was already proficient in changing his body shape, height, weight, complexion, hair length and color, eye color and shape (a happy discovery after reading a bit about ocular conditions that led him to 'fix' his vision once he understood the problem), muscle mass and much more. He could look as a completely different person in matter of seconds.
However he was experimenting with changing something a tad more complicated, genders. Reading all he could about male and female bodies, their reproductive organs and even an introduction into endocrinology (thank the heavens Little Whinging had a local library at walking distance from the Dursley's), Harry felt confident he could try and change into a female. He, however, waited until Hogwarts just in case something went wrong. Madame Pomphrey was an excellent medi-witch after all and his sudden sex-change could easily be explained as a prank-gone-wrong or a malicious curse.
Still, to better judge the changes, he decided to go full naked for it. Visualization was an important aspect of a metamorphmagus' abilities and if he could see the change happening he could gain experience from it.
So there he was, stark naked on the second floor girl's bathroom, standing in front of the many mirrors available (thankfully, Moaning Myrtle had been absent for a number of days, not that anyone noticed) changing his sexual organs, to and fro, getting used to the sensation and improving the time of his changes bit by bit.
So focused was he in his own reflection that he never noticed the younger Slytherin that had been watching him with equal amounts of concentration.
The two stood in companionable silence, one ignorant to the other's presence, until Harry did one final transformation, changing into his (her?) female persona, her (his?) hair growing long, almost reaching the hips, acquiring a deep, dark red color; the facial features sharp and enticing, with a small nose and high cheekbones, her eyes predominately blue with a greenish tint. Her breasts a bit smaller than those of Susan Bones' but still considerably larger than the rest of the 3rd, 4th and even 5th year girls, her skin tone turned into a nice honey (a big contrast compared to his usually pale complexion).
Her body height remained the same, her torso became just the tiniest bit smaller, giving her longer legs, her feet and hands looked delicate, pristine, unspoiled.
Finally, in place of her penis there was now a nice, perky vagina. Maybe it was because of the changes or maybe because of the arousal that watching he own reflection elicited, but it was currently moist, strands of pre-cum already dripping into the floor.
In comparison, her butt was proportionately big for her body, perky and (if the spank she gave herself was any indication) firm to the touch.
Overall, she looked like a seductress, a young seductress but one nonetheless.
"Wow..." she said as her hands started roaming her body, posing a little bit so she could better see her new figure.
"Wow indeed" Astoria said, too transfixed in her figure to care about stealth. "I can't believe how well you managed to pull it off, Harry. You look...you look amazing."
"Thanks-" she started before realizing she was not alone anymore "How... who... what are you doing here?!" the still female Harry Potter asked in a panic, her hands immediately covering her (new) lady parts, looking to regain any amount of modesty possible.
Astoria watched her in amusement "Well, I had to run to one of my classes so I was a bit winded up so I came into the bathroom to freshen up a bit and well..." She took a couple of steps closer, her eyes scanning every inch of the metamorphmagus' body "I wasn't expecting anyone here... Certainly not a naked boy looking at a mirror, and for certain not you, Harry" she finished with a smile.
"I...I didn't mean to..." the boy tried to explain "the bathroom is usually empty so I…"
"And you never thought about a locking charm to the door?" she asked, now standing right next to him.
Harry gulped "Well, I assumed no one would come here anyway so..." he quickly realized the foolishness of his actions.
"And so you decided to train your metamorphmagus abilities in 'privacy'" Astoria nodded sagely.
"Meta-what now?" Harry asked, his hands no longer covering his (her) body, confusion overriding the sense of shame.
Astoria stared for a minute, then a minute longer, then grabbed at her belly, trying to contain her laughter.
"You mean... You don't even know what you are... And still managed to do a complete gender switch?!" her chuckles turned into full-blown laughter at that point.
Harry remained confused, thinking on her words. He never saw any reference to a magical ability that allowed one to change shapes (excluding the animagus transformation) surely it must be a rather obscure bit of knowledge... And yet, it seemed as if the smaller Slytherin, who was currently laughing like a hyena, knew about it.
And thus started the beginning of a wonderful friendship.

Through Astoria, he learned more about the magical side of things than he ever imagined, how politics worked, the who's who of the political landscape, history and ancient traditions (that were still practiced by some families), tips and tricks that, apparently, all pureblooded children knew even before starting Hogwarts, about the different magical schools in the world (or at least the most prominent ones) etc.
Through Harry, Astoria learned about the muggle world, the different fields of study available, how (he understood) government worked, innovations and technological achievements of the last century, History, (Harry was flabbergasted to learn that traditional pureblood families were mostly ignorant of the two World Wars). Of different foods and entertainment one could get in the muggle world and much, much more.
Of course that wasn't the only time Astoria saw him naked either, Tori reasoned that she was the only person (besides Harry) that knew of his secret, it was her duty, she told him, to help him step up his 'womanly' act. If that meant she would have to be the one teaching the pubescent teen all about her new woman parts (including but not limited to pleasuring another woman and oneself), she was more than ready to sacrifice herself.
(They didn't knew yet just how far their 'petting' sessions would take them one day).
Truly, having Tori as a friend, confidante, pseudo-sister and something resembling lover (friends-with-benefits-with-added-feelings, maybe?) was a godsent during his horrible third year. The stress of having a flock of Dementors flying around Hogwarts' grounds, the fear when he finally realized just why Sirius Black might have been looking for him (and wasn't that a kick to the bollocks? It wasn't until the first month of classes had gone by that he somehow found out what everyone else and their mothers already knew!). Between his increasing stress and the fallout following the 'firebolt' incident, coupled with Ron's constant whining about his pet rat and the usual Snape/Malfoy attitude, he quickly reached his wit's end.
He was of the mind of exploring the castle at night, ignoring the curfew and all the warnings just so he could catch the Black, the git that managed to screw his life up so splendidly. Surely dying at the hands of the deranged man would be a mercy compared to what he had to deal with everyday.
Fortunately for him (though not for his arm which was relentlessly beaten), Tori found out his plans, intercepting him just as he was stepping out from the Gryffindor's common room, immediately giving him a piece of her mind. Harry was surprised to find that such a cheerful girl could get so incensed at him. Finally realizing the folly of his actions, and remembering that there was someone he could ALWAYS count on, Harry broke down sobbing, the stress of the whole situation and the realization of his stupidity finally getting to him.
That night ended with the two of them cooped up in one of the many unused classrooms of Hogwarts, a blanket (and his invisibility cloak on top of them) an improvised barrier that shielded them from the screwed up world that surrounded them.
Waking up in each other's embrace, Harry realized something. He loved her, he truly loved Astoria Greengrass. Not only did she bring him to his senses but she also brought him peace. Unknowingly to him, Tori had the exact same thoughts running through her head.
The rest of the year went by in a flash, Harry and Tori's secret rendezvous now happening almost daily. It wasn't long before Harry and Tori became inseparable, not even the presence of the Dementors could manage to dampen their moods.
It wasn't long before they both realized that calling their relationship a mere 'friendship' wasn't enough to describe it, Harry was tempted to say they were a couple but some of his remaining insecurities always prevented him from doing so. Tori quickly realized what made him hesitant and decided to take do something to help him out.
Through their 'exploring' sessions, Tori managed to show her affection towards him. He never took notice, however, that she showed more care and loving whenever he was in his female form, slowly but surely setting the idea in Harry's subconscious that his female form was preferred over his male one.
As the end of the year drew closer, Harry got more and more anxious. He knew that the Black was out there, somewhere, just waiting for his chance to strike. And he couldn't shake the feeling that it would all come to a head sooner rather than later.
In another world, in another universe, Harry would've felt the compelled to save Buckbeak, the Hyppogryph. This was not the case, however, as Malfoy's attempts to have the noble beast executed were thwarted by an impassive Samuel Greengrass (Daphne and Tori's dad), who accurately argued that young Draco's injuries were a direct result of his own actions, say what you will about the Greengrass patriarch, but his little daughter had him wrapped around her fingers.
It was entertaining, to say the least, to see the first ever howler directed towards the Slytherin table (that anyone knew of, at least), on the claws of the Malfoy's post-eagle. To hear the composed voice of Lucius Malfoy berating and reprimanding his own son, not only for lying about the whole hyppogryph incident but also because of the political favors he incurred trying to get the beast executed, followed by the almost hysteric voice of Narcissa, promising severe consequences towards the recently-fainted Draco Malfoy, felt like a delayed christmas gift for all of Hogwarts' student body.
To say that Draco's influence inside his house became non-existent was putting it lightly. Some of his housemates, intimidated by his family name, gained enough confidence to 'air' their displeasure towards their disgraced peer. It got so bad for him, so quickly, that he barely ever left the safety of his dormitory, always followed by a group of reluctant 'protectors' (appointed by Snape) when he went to and from classes and meals.
Because of his nightly meetings with Tori, Harry never had the time to closely look at the Marauder's map, never finding Peter Pettigrew's name on it. Snape never took it from him, Lupin never found out about his supposedly deceased friend still roaming around. Harry was not present (or in any position to help, really) when a deranged-looking Sirius Black 'kidnapped' one Ronald Weasley, neither did he witnessed when Scabbers the rat turned into Pettigrew.
Unfortunately for all parties involved in that episode, without external help, the high amount of emotion felt by the unlikely trio acted as a bacon in the night for the surrounding Dementors, ending with all three of them being rushed and subsequently soul-sucked by the foul creatures.

After finding the corpses, Professor Sprout immediately informed the DMLE. To say that the director, Amelia Bones was incensed was an understatement. Discovering the soulless husk of Peter Pettigrew was more than enough evidence to put Sirius' supposed culpability in doubt. Her investigation was close to being halted, thanks to the combined efforts of Minister Cornelius Fudge and a coalition of 'upstanding citizens' amongst whom names such as Nott, Carrow, Parkinson, Goyle, and Crabbe.
Normally, that would have been it, the fact that Peter Pettigrew had been alive buried under enough red tape that no one in the next three centuries would ever find the truth. Unfortunately for the Fudge administration, Amelia was looking for blood, also unfortunately for them, Amelia knew the right people at the ICW to launch an audit on the entire Ministry.
The results were appalling. Blatant corruption, nepotism, discrimination, harassment, unsanctioned arrests and even a couple instances of Ministry-mandated assassinations. Half of the ministry workers' ended up arrested, charged and sentenced to various lengths of time in prison (by ICW bylaws, a sentence in Azkaban was technically considered as a form of torture, so they were sent to several different facilities all around the ICW signatories), except those that committed crimes against the Goblins, those (who were almost half of the arrested due to the Goblin definition of 'crime') were given to the Nation for them to punish appropriately (usually execution).
It is interesting to note that, in one final act of defiance towards the ongoing ICW investigation, Minister Fudge gave a speech on the wizarding wireless, where he along with Undersecretary Umbridge called for the citizens of Magical Britain to stand up in arms against the 'foreign scum'. The minister was about to finish his speech when, suddenly, all over the country people who were listening at him could hear his immediate capitulation when an ICW taskforce managed to barge inside the minister's office.
At the end of the day Cornelius Fudge made history. His name plastered all over the world in history books, remembered as the minister that led the shortest revolution in the wizarding world (his speech lasted almost half an hour, the time between the ICW breaking the charms to the minister's office and Fudge's surrender was merely 10 seconds).
(And, if later on one particular joke store founded by a pair of entrepreneurial twins launched an extremely popular line of paraphernalia making fun of the deposed Minister, well, kudos to them).
By the end of the month, Britain had a new minister for magic in the form of Amelia Bones, Sirius Black was given a posthumous pardon, with a hefty compensation given to the closest, viable, next-of-kin. Harry Potter was extremely surprised when he received that particular letter, quickly entering a bout of depression that left just as quickly thanks to the Greengrass' unprompted invitation to spend the rest of the summer with them.
Compensations were also given to the Weasley family for the untimely death of Ronald, although public opinion became somewhat ambivalent towards them once Remus Lupin explained the continued survival of his once-upon-a-time friends revealing their unregistered animagus status. It wasn't hard to put two and two together and soon people realized that the Weasleys were harboring the actual traitor and incognito Death Eater Peter Pettigrew for, at least, 9 years.
Ironically enough, Ginevra Weasley was the first one to put the whole tragedy behind her, even if she was the closest to Ron in age, she was closest to the Twins and Bill. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Molly and Arthur never stopped mourning their little boy.

Back to the night of the tragedy, just as Ron was getting his soul sucked by a Dementor's kiss, Tori seemed determined to suck the life out of Harry with a kiss of her own. As the term was coming to a close, Astoria decided on a... blunter approach to make it clear to Harry that they were a couple, maybe secretly and not by name, but a couple nonetheless. By that point, Harry took to subconsciously switch into a woman whenever he (?) approached the rendezvous point, much to the delight of little Tori.
"You know, love" Astoria started after being unsuccessful in sucking his tonsils out, "you need to look for a new name, can't keep calling you Harry while, you know..." one of her tiny hands gave one of his(?) breasts a small squeeze, earning an eep from Harry and a mocking glare.
He put the fact that he switched genders involuntarily to the bottom of his mind and just continued as if nothing weird was happening "Yeah, I have been thinking about that for a while but... I'm pants at naming stuff..." he finished shyly.
"Hmm, let's see..." Tori put one finger in her chin, thinking "We could go for the feminine form of 'Harry', which would be Harriet..." she noticed the frown on his face "yeah, let's not pick that one... nor any variation of it, please" he said disgruntledly.
"Right, so nothing close to Harry... We could go historical or we could look for one with a particular meaning... " She eyed Harry's cloak, carelessly rumpled on top of a desk "If only we could somehow sneak into the library…"
Harry rolled his eyes but smiled at the suggestion, thankfully they were not too many floors away from it, so that gave them plenty of time for their research (and if they happened to indulge in a bit of snogging in between the bookshelves, who were they to complain?)
/-/CM/-/
"I can't believe it!" Tori leaned over the table to show Harry her latest find.
Harry had to admit that this one was a doozy.
The title read 'Witchcraft: A History' and the author was none other than the famous historian and authority on the subject, Mirriam Slughorn.
"So, what do you think?" Tori asked him, the excitement evident in her voice.
"I think we should use this as our last resort, I haven't even heard from the author before, and had she been any good, I believe Hermione would have mentioned her at some point..." Harry tried not to sound too skeptical, failing miserably.
"That's ok, we can have it as a back-up plan... " she said, already pulling another book from the shelf, "Let's see... 'Arithmancy for Mothers: Success or Failure determined by names' seems like a good one if a bit wonky on it's premise... Then there's 'Wizards and Witches throughout History', apparently it has one tome per century and there are... 45ish tomes? Not sure we'll be able to look through all of them... Oh what's that one?!" She picked a book that looked... well.. ancient, even by the library's standards "No name on the cover, check. Bindings almost completely worn out, check." As she opened the book, a trio of ancient looking moths (if the slow way they moved was any indication) flew from it.
"…"
"…"
"Right... Ancient Peruvian moths, check. Yup, this book is REALLY ancient."
"How do you know they were Peruvian Moths, though?" Harry asked, now genuinely curious.
"Well, all the other moth species like to eat paper, I also knew they were ancient because young Peruvian Moths are said to be as fast as Snitches."
"... Ok... Do I wanna know why you know that?"
Tori shrugged "two years ago there was a moth infestation in one of my family's houses... There was no way to call for exterminators and so, we all had to do a bit of research…"
"But..." Harry paused, "what does Peruvian Moths have to do with witches and wizards?"
"It's just a bit of trivia I learned, they were more prevalent a couple of millennia ago and, because they hang around magic so much (some people said they were actually feeding on it), their lifespan is extremely large, even by human's standards". She looked at the moths that were barely one feet away from them "And based on their speed, they must be around six to seven hundred years old..." she finished with a nod.
"... Ok then." Harry shrugged, over the months he had learnt to just roll with Astoria's idiosyncrasies.
"Let me see if I can find the book's name" she opened the book once again, at the beginning this time, stared at it, paused and closed the book, sighed in frustration, took out her wand and cast a spell at it, then opened the book again. "Thank Merlin the translation spell worked... Sometimes with really old texts, it does nothing and unless you spoke Old Norse we would have stayed here for a long time…"
"Well, at least we found something" Harry said, already looking at the title of the book, "Magical Influence in Western Religions written by... 'Áleifr Kneen'?"
"The last name sounds familiar... although I think it had something to do with Quidditch? Sorry, that's not my forte."
"Neither is mine, Ron's the one that's a Quidditch fanatic, I bet he knows all about it's history... and yet he's never bothered to pick up a book on any other subject, not even for assignments" he grumbled the last part, remembering the many times he begged for help when writing an essay.
Tori continued to skim through the book pages "Wow, so like, there's a lot of references to biblical figures and events whether they were based on real events or they themselves were magical in origin... Huh... Apparently Delilah did exist and actually was the one that killed Samson... when she wasn't paid for the job she just blew the whole place up, who would've thought."
"Alright, first off, nice. Secondly, you never told me your knew about Christianity. Thirdly, I think we just found my name."
Astoria snorted "Please, haven't I told you just how big the family library is? Besides, it's not like my family buys into the whole 'wizards are better than muggles' rhetoric, we have plenty of muggle books, they certainly got us beat in the entertainment department..." She retorted "Also, it's hard to understand why the Statute of Secrecy came to be if you don't know about the Witch-Hunts and to truly understand those, you have to read at least a bit about Christianity."
"Ok, I'll concede the point on that one..." Harry took the book and placed it back on the shelf "So, what do you think, Delilah sounds nice, doesn't it?"
Tori nodded "Yeah, it does. I think we can find another name if we continue searching for it but, if you like it, I don't see a reason to continue looking for one" she finished with a wink.
"Nice" The newly christened Delilah smiled, grabbing her young lover by the waist and spinning a couple of times, Tori laughed at her partner's enthusiasm, genuinely happy for her.
For Delilah it was as if a puzzle she never new existed was about to be completed. She could feel there was something else missing but felt content in the knowledge that she was heading in the right direction.
Only an extremely dire event could bring the two of them out of their elation.
