Watching the figures move on the grounds below the window, he turns and regards the empty room. Stepping into the firelight, his green eyes sparkle behind wire-framed glasses like twin emeralds in a shop window sitting in the sun. His black hair in constant disarray falling over his forehead to cover the telltale scar of who he is.
The Boy that Lived.
Or rather now, the Man that Lived. Leaning his head forward in a momentary slump, he lets the weariness wash over him for a moment. Taking off his glasses, he rubs his eyes gently before placing them back on his face.
"You should rest."
The voice comes from the area of the window where he had just been standing. Barking a laugh of rude derision, he spins to see the witness of his brief lapse into madness. "And what would you know about rest, Cedric? You have haunted me for years now. You don't know the rest of the grave and yet you tell me I should rest?" Shaking his head in bafflement, he walks toward the fireplace.
Wrapping his arms around himself, he shivers, feeling a chill in the room. "They're the ones that should rest. Out there." Turning briefly to regard Cedric, Harry motions toward the window. "The move on and on, never stopping unless I tell them to do so. He's coming you know."
"I know. All the more reason you should rest. Hermione and Ron are worried about you. They all are." Cedric's voice is quiet but clear as it cuts the silence left by Harry's quiet statement of fact. Voldemort was coming. They all knew it. The one thing they didn't know was that Harry was beginning to wonder if he would not only win, but also survive the coming battle.
"I'm scared. And tired. I just want this to end Cedric. End so I can go away and live the rest of my life in peace." Turning from the fire, he stares at the Seeker, dead now for years. "Is that too much to ask?"
"Nothing is too much to ask Harry. You just have to know when, and how, to ask the questions." Cedric walked across the room to stand next to him. Staring at him Harry sees how real he appears. The light hair framing his face just so, bringing out the fine lines there to show the soft beauty of the other man.
Turning from him, Harry shook his head briefly scoffing softly. "Now you sound like Dumbledore used to. Always talking in riddles." Turning back he stares at him, tears showing in his eyes. "I'm lonely. I have no one."
"You have Ron and Hermione. They both love you. You know that."
"Yes, they do. Ron is a brother in all but blood. Hermione is the same as Ron. I used to love her and she me but we realized what a folly that was." Harry shook his head as he recalled the stolen moments in empty classrooms at night, trying to vent their teenage anxiety in each other's arms. It would always end the same way, both of them even more tightly bound than before they started and crying against each other, lost in their misery.
Out of all the people Harry knew, Hermione was the closest that would ever come to knowing what it was like to not have your parents. Hers had been among the first Muggles killed as a result of the war. Long nights spent in each other's arms just crying for what was lost as well as what was never known.
Shaking his head as he came forward from the memory, and sank into one of the chairs facing the fire. Letting the soft, supple leather enfold him, he closed his eyes and sighed. "I just want someone to hold me and love me. Just once."
Harry sits there and listens to the rustle of clothing in the room. His eyes shoot open to see Cedric kneeling in front of him, his face lit in profile by the light of the fire, making his hair shine like burnished bronze. His eyes seemed to peer into the depths of Harry's mind.
As Harry watched, Cedric raised a fine, long-fingered hand to his face and cupped his cheek. Sighing in pleasure, Harry leaned into the warmth of the touch and brought his own hands up to hold Cedric's in place as he felt himself pulled forward softly. Opening his eyes briefly, Harry locks gazes with Cedric as he is pulled in for a kiss.
The kiss starts off soft and tentative, gentle and loving, like the whisper of a soft breeze. Soon, Harry leans closer and pulls the solid form of Cedric close, deepening the kiss as he does so. Tongues dancing in harmony, Harry revels in the taste of Cedric's mouth, sweet and hot. Pulling away, he pushes at the black robe Cedric wears and pushes him to the floor.
Once the fabric is out of the way, he leans down begins to kiss his way down Cedric's neck, feeling the pulse beneath this skin as he kisses gently on his soft skin. Working his way down to Cedric's chest, he claims one of his nipples and feels Cedric stiffen beneath him and gasp in pleasure. Rising long enough to remove his own robe, he pulls his shirt off over his head as Cedric makes for his pants, unfastening them and pulling the down as Harry stands to step out of them.
Glancing down, he sees that Cedric is hard and ready for him. Kneeling next to him, he reaches down and begins to stroke the other man gently, bringing forth soft moans and whimpers as he teases and licks gently at the hard shaft, tasting the bitter sweetness of him.
Moving smoothly, Harry straddles Cedric, using one hand to guide him. Leaning back, he slowly pulls Cedric inside and shudders in ecstasy and relaxes for a moment before feeling Cedric move beneath him. Opening his eyes, he leans forward as Cedric rises to pull Harry close.
As Cedric sits up slowly, Harry wraps his legs around Cedric's waist and throws his head back and he feels Cedric begin to thrust gently. He feels Cedric's mouth on his throat, nibbling and biting gently, as he begins to thrust deeper with every motion. Biting his lip to keep from crying out too loudly, Harry silently begs for more, and feels Cedric increase his pace. As if knowing that in this moment, Harry wants to lose himself in this one act and forget the world for short time.
Reaching between them, Cedric begins to stroke Harry hard and quick, in the same manner as his thrusts. Soon, Harry is gasping, his chest and face covered in a fine sheen of sweat as he feels his climax building. Crying out as his orgasm hits, he feels the world explode around him and cries out Cedric's name. He hears the soft answer of his own name whispered on Cedric's lips.
Collapsing to the floor, Harry leans against Cedric's damp chest and kisses it softly then turns to gaze at his partner. Smiling softly, Cedric brings his hand up and raises Harry's chin to kiss him softly. Pulling back, Harry smiles and thanks him. "Thank you for this night. I don't know how you managed this but thank you. Thank you for showing me that I can still feel."
"You don't need to thank me Harry. I was always here with you. You just weren't ready to see me." Cedric's voice was soft and smooth.
"I won't see you again after this will I?" Harry's question was a whisper, scared to speak too loudly, for fear of this brief moment of happiness to be chased away like all the others in his past.
"You might, if you need me. If you don't need me anymore, then no." Cedric paused, gazing curiously at Harry. "This bothers you doesn't it? Knowing that I'm not really here."
Not wanting to answer, Harry closes his eyes and feels a gentle hand on his shoulder. Opening his eyes, he sees the sun shining softly through the window and looks up to see Hermione standing over him, a soft smile on her lips. "Harry, it's time. They're waiting for you."
"All right." Harry nods as he rises from the chair he was sitting in. Heading toward the door, he opens it and stops. Gazing briefly around the room, he sighs.
"Harry? Are you all right?" Hermione's question causes him to smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine 'Mione. Just ghosts of the past, that's all." Saying nothing more, he turns and leaves the room, Hermione following behind him as he leaves his past and his pain behind, heading toward whatever future this day will bring.
END.
