Title: Both Sides now:
Disclaimer: I know that I don't own anything but the plot. No money is made so don't sue me.
Note: This is a sequel to 'One Side of the Coin' You have to read that first, otherwise you will not understand much. I don't have a beta (would someone please ?!?) so there will be mistakes as my mothertongue isn't English. Originally this was one big fic but while giving it a once over this weekend, I desided to make a cut after Harry's arrival at Severu's door. There will be POVs of both main character from now on (still with main focus on Sev), so it will take a different pace.
The last part will be named 'Mending'
I hope you will enjoy my story, please leave some advice, comment or critic.
Both Sides Now
Chapter 1
‘Good evening Prof-’ a tiny break - ‘Severus. I hope Lierin is well?’
Severus Snape thought of himself as a highly intelligent person and thus he didn't need long to realize that damn Harry Potter was the other half of Lierin's parentage. But other than this disturbing realization his numb brain refused to provide coherent thought chains for a while.
Not too long, though.
"Quite well, thank you very much and no thanks to you, I might add."
The Potions Master leaned against his doorframe and blocked entrance for his unwelcome guest but Harry was able to get a glimpse of child equipment and heard a faint gurgling. He looked stunned.
"Excuse me?" Expressive green orbs stared into onyx ones.
"Leaving her in a cold hallway was highly irresponsible or should I say potterish?" Not to mention with whom you left a defenceless baby girl. The second part of his accusation was only voiced silently in his head. A pity that the wretched boy wasn't an impressionable first year anymore.
But Severus had returned to old habits while he tried to digest the news. Anguish, bad consciens, when glimpses of the situation which, without a doubt, had led to the creation of the child now sleeping peacefully in his chambers surfaced. The occasional swear words chased themselves behind his forehead while he dished out his sarcasm.
"Don't be ridiculous." Nope, Harry Potter wasn't a pupil anymore and answered in a very annoyed tone he wouldn't have dared to use only one year back. "I applied a warming charm and waited out of sight until you opened the door and apart from the obvious reason that I have no liking for your company (Severus had to surpres a flinch) I didn't want to answer questions. Filch nearly ran me down. Now, may I PLEASE enter and see my daughter?"
He slipped around Severus' outstretched arm. Snape beat him to the cradle and pressed the now not so tiny anymore girl rotectively to his chest.
Harry's eves were glued to the small head, which was securely tucked under a defiantly raised strong lined chin.
"Now, Potter—"
"I have no intention to snatch the girl and disappear to god knows where, so stop making a scene."
That was exactly what Severus had thought he would do. Harry's stance and calm expression where a shock for him. No pupil cowering before him anymore indeed. The young man made no attempts to come nearer, he just observed his surroundings.
Snape knew that there were some bets going on about the looks of his personal chambers and wondered if Potter compared reality to imagination.
Not that he or his sidekicks would have placed a bet containing brightly coloured baby items.
On the other hand, now wasn't the best time for such trivialities.
Neither man really knew what to do next. Again pictures of their last encounter in a dirty dungeon cell made Severus press the sleepy girl more closely to him. Harry had similar thoughts, most likely.
Why was the Gryffindor back now? Maybe this was a good point to begin
an overdue conversation. Or he could—
"Should I say ‘thank you' for the enlightening letter that accompanied this little surprise?" On the other hand, that was probably not a good way to start; it just came out of his mouth with the
typical Snape tone.
"What should I have written instead?" Potter was trembling. Out of rage, fright or nervousness?
"Oh yes, I should have put it like that: Hey Snape! Remember me? This is your most hated ex-pupil, Harry Potter whom you raped some ten months ago. And this is the resulting offspring.
Yes, I know: I am male but hey, things happen. Take care of her (name's Lierin by the way) not that I wouldn't want to do it myself
despite the other half of her genetic pool, but your ex-Lord, and at least three dozen other mad villains, would love to shred me to
pieces and it's too dangerous for her to be with me.
Unfortunately yours,
Potter."
Rage, definitely.
Well, Severus couldn't really blame him.
Both man glared, red in the faces out of embarrassment and fury.
And both forgot the third party in this little encounter. And Lierin made clear that her dislike for loud, angry voices and being woken up unceremoniously hadn't gone away in the last three months. She screeched and cried angrily, forcing her parents to focus on more important matters like soothing a distressed baby.
Severus was now quite trained in handling his daughter, he calmed down and for one moment ignored his visitor who stepped nearer, concerned about Lierin. Harry tried to stroke over the small head and was rewarded with another angry whimper and a little fist shoving away his hand. Lierin hid her face in her father's robes.
Severus got a glance of a defeated looking Potter before the other man turned away. It made him bit back a comment like ‘Now look what you have done'.
"Come on Lierin, take pity with my sensitive eardrums. Shhhh."
None of them heard another person enter the room.
"Ah your little one really has inherited a good measure of both your temperaments. Good evening Severus, Mr. Potter it is a pleasure to see you again, well and healthy. You had us concerned. Your godfather nearly camped ouside my office, demanding more measures to find you."
Albus Dumbledore, Severus really wondered about the omnipresence of the old wizard, had entered the scene. He was his usual happy self, clad in a canary yellow robe with orange cloak (with little dazzling stars at the hem), which should be forbidden by law if Severus Snape had something to say about it.
The ancient headmaster ignored the tension in the room and threw some powder in the roaring fire, summoning a sleepy looking nurse who gasped at the sight of Harry Potter but at a wink of Dumbledore she bit back her comment and instead took the baby girl in her arms.
"Madam Pomfrey will look after the young lady here and we will have a nice conversation in my office. This Place isn't really equipped for a good conversation. Really Severus, you should buy yourself some decent armchairs."
How does the man always manages to make him feel again like a second year who had been caught red handed, ‘borrowing' some firefly eggs out of his old Potions Master's storage room?
Bot Severus and his visitor both knew that complaining wouldn't help them when Albus Dumbledore wanted something. It never did.

Thank you for the review! Yes, I posted this on ffnet but since then two more chapters have been finished. I started my first year at University in September, therefore I will not update much but the entire story is written down already ( but not typed down) so it WILL be finished.
