  • Chapter 10: The Greasy Git

"I'm doing the best I can do, Miss Granger." Albus said with a worried look on his face as he sat at his desk. "I've been trying to get in contact with my older counterpart, but am finding it extremely difficult if not impossible."

Hermione stood on the opposite side of Albus' desk, a stormy look in her eyes and her hands on her hips. She'd come to him first thing this morning in hopes that he could assist her.

She'd been checking with him the past few days, intent on returning to the future before anything more happened. She was starting to feel herself losing control and in all the wrong ways.

So far, nothing had been done to reach to the future. They were all stuck here until they rotted away. She was never actually going to live her life. This was beyond depressing.

The classes she attended went well, her Professors liked her, (Not including her Potions' professor...seemed some things never changed.) and she was getting brilliant grades. Lily wasn't talking to her, but she tried not to let that affect her, and Severus...well....

"Thank you anyway, Headmaster." Hermione suddenly said briskly, turning on one heel and rushing out the door. Albus watched the door shut behind her and shook his light head, wishing he could do more for them.

Hermione had been completely ostracized from the Gryffindor students. The boys had heard she was in mix with Severus and the girls thought she was horrid for kissing James behind Lily's back. If only they understood.

It was a horrible mess, and Hermione wished she could just explain what had occurred to Lily. Surely'd 'd understand! But no, Hermione had tried time and time again to speak to the red head, only to have doors slammed in her face or a flash of red hair in her mouth as Lily whipped away from her.

Now Hermione made her way to the Library, having carefully avoided James and Severus all this time. She had to think of a plan...She had to think of a way to get Lily and James together.

    But how?

She suddenly spotted some benches by a large window and sat on them, looking to her notebooks and thinking up a plan. She was there a few moments, tapping her hand against her chin absently.

Perhaps I tell James that I will go to the dance with him. She thought intensely, her nose wrinkling up in thought. Some Gryffindor's passed her and frowned deeply, whispering about her as she blushed in embarrassment.

She felt bad for Lily; the poor girl was really enamored with James. And James...she supposed he was only acting this way towards her because he didn't believe Lily reciprocated his feelings or he was trying to make her jealous. What a tangled web.

Alright, I tell James I'll go to the dance with him...Then...then I'll get Harry to find a date for Lily...then we'll meet up at the dance...Brilliant. She smiled inwardly, knowing that this plan had to work. I'll get Lily and James alone together somehow...and they'll fall in love and the rest is history...perfect.

She beamed as she gathered her books, wondering where she'd be able to find James when he slid onto the bench next to her. He was wearing his Quidditch uniform and looked as if he'd just come out of the Quidditch field.

"Hello Hermione." He said gently, looking to her through his thin glasses, his smile charming as usual. Hermione tried not to grimace at the knowledge that this was her best friend's father, and instead forced a smile on her face.

"Hello James," she said shakily, "How are you?"

    "Fine. Yourself?"

"Actually," Hermione said shakily, forcing herself not to look disgusted as she spoke. "I was.... I was thinking that I'd like to go to the dance with you."

"You would?" James said hopefully, his smile brightening. His arm slid around her shoulders as they sat on the bench and Hermione prayed that no one saw them.

"Yes...if the offer is stilld."d." Hermione said with another forced grin. "It was awfully rude of me yesterday...It was just unexpected."

"Oh." James said with a smile, "Brilliant. I'll pick you up at seven then."

"Sure." Hermione said nodding, relieved as James moved to stand. Suddenly he leaned over, preparing to kiss her once more as she leaned .
    .

"Uh...let's save that for the dance." She offered weakly, putting her finger to his lips to stop him. He smirked widely, nodding and walking away from her with a bounce in his steps.

"Good Lord." Hermione muttered under her breath as she lifted her book bag onto her shoulder. She honestly couldn't see what Lily liked so much about James. He was a braggart... a snob even. But, they had created Harry who in turn defeated Voldemort.

She began walking down the hall to the common room, her mind wandering as she passed several students. She was a bit perplexed a how how she was going to get Lily and James alone together against their will. What if they screamed at each other?

She'd been prepared to walk back to her room to devise a more thorough plan when she felt her arm being grasped roughly.

She felt herself being dragged and before she could even scream out in panic she'd been tossed into the lavatory with the door slamming harshly behind her.

The lavatory was empty as far as she could tell, and for a horrible moment she was petrified at the fact that it was us gus grasping her. She'd never make it out alive.

Her mouth was covered by a lean hand from the figure behind her. She writhed against it until she felt familiar and soft lips at her earlobe making her shiver. She leaned against the young man behind her, her eyes falling shut as her heartbeat slowed.

"Don't scream." Severus murmured silkily, his hand lowering from her lips and sliding down her throat gently. Her heart was slowing its pounding in her ears as he placed a charm on the door of the lavatory.

    "Don't worry, it's just me."

Hermione turned slightly, enough for Snape to gaze down at her with a smile. She leaned against the cold wall of the lavatory, thankful that it was rather clean.

"I haven't seen you in a while." he said softly, almost in a sulking tone. Hermione nodded, looking to him in earnest. Her pulsating neck entranced him; he saw the ticking in the hollow of her throat where her heartbeat hammered below. Did he truly frighten her? Or was she excited?

The tension crackled between them, Hermione found herself fixated with Snape's lips as he stared at her. A blush made its way up her neck as she remembered their last encounter.

"Are you avoiding me, Hermione?" he suddenly implored, guiding hends nds to the wall at her sides, holding them in place as he pinned her to it with his hip. She was shaking, but from fear or from want he couldn't tell, nor did he really care.

He had a very careful plan all laid out. Seduce her, ask her to the dance and...Lucius' plan would be carried out. He'd worked too hard in getting into the Dark Lord's army and he couldn't have this little Mudblood getting him off the right track. She was proving to be an ample distraction.

"No." She lied, and shivered as the tipSnapSnape's forefinger found it's way to her bottom lip, tracing the outline of it in mild intt. Ht. He watched her with his head tilted, his dark eyes holding her own.

"Are you sure?" he teased lightly, his hand sliding over her clothed breasts as her nipples pebbled instantly in his hands. She wondered idly if he was hypnotizing her with his voice and caress. This thought disturbed and aroused her, but she forced herself to remain in control of her body.

"Yes." She finally uttered, forcing her eyes open to see Severus nodding and looking to her blouse. Achingly he moved to the top button, slowly undoing it as he smirked at her response.

She was transfixed with his lean fingers, she wanted to tell him to stop but found it impossible. Slowly, one by one her blouse buttons were undone, leaving him staring pointedly at her creamy breasts encased in her bra.

His teenage hormones nearly drummed within him, pulsating him all over as he looked to her swelling breasts, lightly licking his bottom lips as he descended.

She turned her head to stop his gaze, her eyes squeezing shut as his lips lowered to her neck, gently nibbling and sucking at it. She felt her knees buckle and felt herself sliding down the wall slowly.

Severus pulled her up, trapping her body against the wall with his own and continued his downward exploration. Sufficiently pleased with the trail of love bites he'd started on her neck, he slowly moved down to her collar, teasing it with the tip of his tongue as she moaned above him.

Suddenly he stopped, knowing she was in a state of lust and care. He looked down to her, holding her face in his hands and placing a small kiss upon her lips.

"Come to the dance with me." he said hoarsely against her reddened mouth, wondering why it was so hard to ask her. He didn't mean it, it was just part of the plan. He supposed perhaps a small part of him wanted to go with her, but ignored it soundly.

"I-I can't." she stuttered, her hands still trapped under his own. He jerked his head up swiftly, his dark eyes growing cloudy as he looked to her flushed face, her swollen lips sealed together tightly as she looked to him.

"Why?" he asked lowly, his frame suddenly stiffening and his hands dropping from her face. Hermione herself was trying not to tremble. What if he was angry with her? Should she tell him the truth?

"James already asked me." She said stonily, watching as his jaw clenched. "And I've accepted."

Severus drew away from her rapidly, turning on his heel with his back to her. She saw he was stiff, and knew he was stewing about in anger. It sort of reminded her of Ron in fourth year, getting mad because he hadn't been fast enough to ask her to the dance.

"Tell him no." Came the sulking tone from Snape. He'd never admit it but he was beyond jealous at the fact that she was going with Potter. Him of all people. Why? She was too good for him!

"I can't." Hermione said shakily, doing her shirt back up as he whirled around, his eyebrows down in frustrated anger. She was his, not Potters. She'd wanted him. His eyes stayed on her chest that she started to cover in embarrassed worry.

Rapidly he strode over to her, moving her arms from in front of her. Suddenly he tore her blouse open, buttons going everywhere, before she could protest. He ripped her blouse down her arms and pushed her with his body against the wall of the lavatory, burrowing himself in her neck as she yelped.

"No." she pleaded lowly, trying in vain to push him from her. He was too rough, too angry, too aroused. He didn't listen, his lips sucking at her sensitive neck as her knees threatened to buckle. She tried to wrench from him but found him all too powerful.

"You're mine." he murmured against her cheek as his face was lifted, kissing her temple softly as she whimpered against his rough frame. He felt her trying to break free.

"I'm not anybody's." she said breathlessly as Snape kissed the corner of her mouth repeatedly. She tried still to wrestle from him in this state, a bit worried but enchanted at his touch. She'd too easily forgotten the strength and dark power of a Deatheater, especially one in his prime.

His hips ground roughly against her own; her body pressed to the hard tile behind her had no choice but to nestle against his throbbing member through his clothing. She moaned as he thrust against her most sensitive and private area, something he'd already explored.

"Oh yes you are." he said darkly as Hermione finally succumbed to him, realizing it was useless to fight and findshe she just wanted to kiss him, to feel him. Perhaps he'd be gentler now. His lean fingers found the straps of her bra, lowering them over her shoulders as he gazed at her.

Rapidly they went down, exposing her creamy breasts as Snape grasped one in his hands, kneading it as his tongue found the other, licking it as Hermione's fingers found their way into his dark hair, finally feeling it and she moaned. He moved quickly, sucking at each one as Hermione shuddered, feeling as his free hand made it's way to the back of her head as he came up for a lingering kiss.

"We have to stop." she finally uttered breathlessly, pulling the straps of her bra up as Severus watched her, calculating the next moment he would strike with precision. She pulled back her blouse, fixing it a s a simple spell before looking back to him.

"Tell me why you're going with Potter." Snape said gently, holding her in his arms and stroking her hair absently. She felt so sweet and soft against him, nothing like the whores and unwilling women he'd come across during the raids. She liked him.

"I have to." she said gently, her dark eyes looking to him as he looked to her. She could tell he was angry, perhaps even hurt at her actions, and this truly pained her.

    "Why?"

    "I can't tell you why."

Snape growled loudly, smashing his fist against the tile a few feet from her head as she looked to him in worry. He wasond ond furious. This wasn't going to plan. She was supposed to go with him to the bloody dance.

"Fine." he said angrily, preparing to stalk off when her small voice called out to him urgently and he couldn't go on.

"No, Severus." she said breathlessly, grasping onto his arm as he turned from her. He felt his body rndinnding and wanted nothing more than to capture her against him. "Please don't go like this."

"Why shouldn't I?" The headstrong teenager asked, looking to Hermione with obvious anger in his dark eyes. Hermione saw the older Severus in those eyes, and it frightened her.

It seemed almost strange to hear Severus' voice, so deep and thundering even when quiet, coming from his younger frame. A smooth face, full lips and eyes that read and calculated everything. A young man that she was desperately falling for, and wanting nothing more than to tell the truth to.

"Because...I want to tell you...I want to tell you everything." Hermione said on the verge of tears. "But I can't tell you. It'd ruin too much.." she took a deep breath.

    "Severus...I'm not from Longbottom Academy."

"No?" Severus asked in surprise. "Where are you from then?"

"Someone close and yet...so very far." Hermione answered almost truthfully, not able to tell him the whole truth. He was giving her a quizzical look as if she was mad, talking in riddles and such.

    "That's rather ambiguous."

"I know." Hermione hesitated, trying to find the right words. "All I can tell you Severus is...is that going to the dance with James will eventually save some lives."

Severus was silent the whole time, watching Hermione's sorrowful face as she retold her tale. He felt her anguish as she spoke, but couldn't understand her cryptic speech.

    "Will it?"

"I know it doesn't make much sense." Hermione said in a solemn voice, still holding onto his arm tightly, feeling that he was tensed and ready to spring off.

    "But...please trust me."

Snape didn't answer at first, he was completely muddled up. Part of him wanted to scream at her for this choice of action and another part wanted to trust her. To believe her. Perhaps the plan could change a bit...

"Just remember," Snape hissed as he came closer to her, "Every time he touches you, every time he kisses you that night...You'll know its betrayal against me. You're mine Hermione Granger, whether you like it or not."

And with that small speech he gathered Hermione tightly to him in a rough embrace, placing a rough and demanding kiss on her lips, showing just how powerless she was against him, before he broke away.

"Save a dance for me." He stated simply, watching as Hermione nodded slowly. He nodded, tracing his fingertip along her jaw once more before unwarding the door and walking out leaving Hermione breathless and suddenly worried.

    * * *

"Alright." Harry agreed as he and Hermione sat in the three broomsticks a few nights later over some butterbeers. She'd managed to drag him away from James and the gang for at least that much.

He was agreeing to the plan for he too had heard his father mooning over Hermione. Harry had been beyond repulsed at the start, wondering what had sparked it.

He'd tried to talk James out of it, had tried in complete honesty to try and turn him off of Hermione. He'd even tried telling Lily that James liked her but found that she couldn't stand him.

"Whom do we set her up with?" Harry asked in earnest, knowing the plan Hermione had presented. She gave a nea nervous look, worry intermingled with moderate horror.

"Oh no." Harry said, making a face and trying to shake his head even more than he was at the current moment. "Never. Are you mad? I am not going to take my ruddy mother to the dance!"

A few heads turned to look at them as Hermione and Harry ducked their heads in embarrassment. This was turning out to be a harder thing to seal than Hermione expected.

"It's nothing so horrible." Hermione insisted, almost glaring at Harry as he looked to her in disgust. "You don't have to kiss her. Just escort her there, we'll get she and James together and fate will come into play. Do you want to live or not?"

    "Isn't there someone else?"

"Who?" Hermione asked irritably, "Almost every other boy is taken."

    "But I'm already going with-"

"You'll have to break it off."

Harry made a face, looking to Hermione with minimal loathing. He knew this was the right thing, he knew he'd buggered up History. He himself had been feeling rather lightheaded these past few days, he'd been retiring early in hopes of rejuvenation, but inside he knew it was cause of this rift in history.

    "She hates me though."

"She hates James." Hermione insisted, shaking her head at Harry's moronic attitude. "She'll be bowled over to have you take her to the dance."

Harry was quiet a moment, his face bearing that of complete uncertainty. He was beyond repu at at the thought that something may happen that would scar him for life. What if his Mum got sloshed?

"You promise?" Harry finally asked nervously. "I won't be able to survive if anything else happens."

"I promise." Hermione said, raising her glass of butter beer as Harry took note and did the same, a dark and pensive look on his face.

"To the future." Hermione chirped happily, a weight being lifted off her shoulders. Harry nodded and clinked his glass against her own, a small chiming sound echoing through the pub and catching a certain young man's attention.

    "To the future."

    * * *

Hermione made her way back from Hogsmeade a day later, her head heavy with fatigue. It hadn't been easy staying away from James and Severus. Mostly Severus though.

James was always talking about quidditch with Remus, Sirius and Harry.... Hermione had noticed of late that she hadn't seen Peter. This unsettled her.

But Severus. He was a problem indeed. He'd come gliding down the hall, brushing past her in an empty hallway. She'd think she was safe from his lusting until he had her pinned against a nearby wall, kissing her roughly and breaking away without a word.

It hurt her in a sense, feeling that he only saw her as a possession but knowing with that look in his eyes that it was something different. He yearned for her as she did he.

One night she saw him in different robes than he usually wore, dark gloves on his hands. She looked to him strangely as he lifted the hood of the cloak over his head, not seeing her. She wasn't sure, but she knew something was wrong with this picture.

"Where are you going?" she asked tentatively as he jumped at her voice. He'd been sure he was alone in the hall. He whirled around to see her pale face, worried for him. He knew he had to hurry; Lucius was waiting outside for him.

"None of your business." he uttered resolutely, pushing her gripping hands from his cloak. He couldn’t taint her by telling her the truth. He didn’t want her to thi this side of him right now. He’d put it off as much as he could.

But Hermione knew. Harry had told her of such robes and gloves. She knew what went on in those meetings. She was trembling, as she looked to him in moderate fear. This was Severus Snape. The demanding lover, the volatile teenager, the reckless power within him that would be calmed in age. She was suddenly terrified of him.

    "You're going to a...meeting for...?"

"None of your concern." Snape hissed quietly, searching her face and finding only pain and anguish. She was trying not to angrily cry, petrified that he was going to get himself killed.

Hermione, he's survived in the future, obviously he'll survive now.

"You have to be careful." Hermione insisted nonetheless, moving closer to Snape and trying to see his face hidden in the shadows of the cloak. He knee cae cared for him; no one else would have bothered questioning him or telling him to be safe.

She suddenly hugged his tall frame tightly, her cheeks against the rough fabric of the cloak. He looked down to her in surprise and gently moved his sinewy arms around her smaller frame, hugging her tightly to him.

"I will be." he uttered then before his mind had urged against it. Before he could help himself he'd dipped forward, placing a gentle kiss upon her lips, feeling the tears she’d shed against his cheeks, before tearing from her and out the front door.

Hermione replayed the memory a moment and then shook her head. She was certain he'd returned to school, and he had been safe. She knew that much. Severus Snape was powerful, even as a young man.

She'd been away from the school that day, knowing that Harry was going to be asking Lily to go to the dance. Hermione had decided it'd be better if she was rather far away from that occurrence.

She had her dress robes for the dance under her arms; it was just a simple black dress robe she'd deemed suitable for such an occasion. She was actually quite distracted, wondering what Severus would look like.

It was quite easy to refer to him as such now that he was younger. Severus. She'd never dream of merely calling him 'Snape', or 'Professor' whilst in the future she'd thought of calling him nothing but. How time did change a person.

She found her recollection of Professor Snape to be fuzzy. And why shouldn't it be? He had just been her overbearing Professor. Nothing more and nothing less. She really tried to remember his older looking face...pale, haggard on occasion. How bizarre to think that he'd been so charming and passionate and attractive in his youth.

Now this presented a problem. If she did make it back to the future, would she only see Professor Snape as Severus? Would she look at him and feel her heart beating wildly? Would she want to kiss him?

It was at that moment Hermione wasn't sure she wanted to leave.

"I mean if I'm in love now..." Hermione trailed of slowly, walking slowly up to the steps of the castle. "It only makes sense to stay here."

She was trying to process her emotions in total detail. Was it love? Was it lust? How could she tell? She'd never felt love before, nor had she felt lust this overpowering. She knew she wanted to be with Severus all the time...but would that fade in time? Would he grow to resent her?

"No." she reprimanded herself as she rounded up to the common room, joyful squeals emitting from inside. "I'd completely bugger up history if I did that. I can't stay."

She went to say the password when the portrait swung open to reveal a smirking Draco. He looked to Hermione with a supremely smug look on his pale face as he noticed her, standing a few feet from him.

"Hello Mudblood." he whispered snottily, looking her up and down before brushing past her. She didn't care to know why he'd been in the common room and made her way inside.

Lily was there, surrounded by all her friends that glared at Hermione when she entered. Lily didn't look to Hermione, instead immersed in loud giggles that Hermionen'tn't privy to the sources of.

Lily suddenly made a face at Hermione, not hiding her disdain one bit. She looked back to her friends gathered around her as they squealed in excitement.

    "I can't believe it!'

    "He's so handsome!"

    "I never would have thought!"

Hermione rounded her shoulders in sorrow at being excluded and prepared to make her way up the stairs when a wide-eyed first year came rushing up to go to her own dormitory.

"Hey." Hermione whispered fiercely to the young girl who looked to her in awe. She was Snape's girl. "What's all the commotion about?"

"Haven't you heard?" said the younger Gryffindor shakily, looking to Hermione in moderate awe. She was nervous to be speaking to a young woman marked with a most powerful seventh year.

"No, I haven't." Hermione said irritably. "What's it all about?"

"Draco asked Lily to the dance."

    * * *

"This is a problem." Snape said worriedly, his hand lowering the small picture onto the desk as he sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose in agitation.

"I know." Albus said in a worried tone, gathered up a few things and placing them on his desk. He was casting a nervous look to Severus as the irritable Professor awaited his instructions.

"Well?" Snape finally said grumbling, "I thought that you hadn't made contact."

    "I have."

    "Why the delay then?"

"I just did a few minutes ago." Albus insisted, looking to Severus severely. His wrinkled face was neutral, and he tried to convey the sense of authority that almost always surrounded him.

"We were both trying to contact each other at the same time, and in turn were voiding each other's spells."

"Indeed?" Snape asked boredly, looking to Albus with his arms crossed lazily over his chest. This charade was getting to be an utter bore as well as tedious. All he wanted to do was travel back, get the kids, come home, reprimand them and go to bed.

"Yes," Albus insisted firmly, "And in the end I got into contact with the younger Albus. We just finished setting up the dual port key for you to travel through." his face shone with worry. "Are you quite ready Severus?"

"I suppose." Snape said moving forward, looking to the small key on Albus' desk before looking to him. "Do you have any idea of when I'll be appearing on the other side?"

"I believe the night of a school function. A dance." Albus said with worry, "There will be many students milling about and so I warn you to be on guard. Try not to run into your other self."

"I think I can handle myself Albus." Snape said severely, looking again to the key and frowning. It hadn't been that long to him since the brats had gone. Not even a week in their time. He had sort of relished the break.

"Wish me luck." Severus suddenly muttered sardonically, looking to Albus in boredom. He picked up the small key on the desk and within a second he was gone, twenty years ago to face his demons. Albus looked to the dark room and now empty room, his voice cracking.

    "Good luck m'boy...you'll need it."
