A/N: Again, thanks to ninjette72“Stupid asshole! Why can’t we just get along and love each other?” Draco asked of no one in particular.
He and Higgs were on their way to a Death Eater meeting, and taking their sweet time about it as neither was looking forward to it. Higgs just laughed and clapped him on the shoulder.
“Malfoy, loving doesn’t mean getting along. Sometimes the person you most want to kill is the person you love. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that the more you love someone, the more you want to kill them.”
Draco just looked at his companion with one arched eyebrow. “Are you kidding me? You have lost your mind.”
“It’s true,” Higgs explained matter-of-factly. “They bring out the best and worst in you and can push your buttons like nothing else. Love and hate go hand in hand. Sometimes, I just want to hit my girlfriend over the head with a bludger, but that doesn’t mean I love her any less.”
Looking at the guy walking next to him, Draco thought about what he had said. He hadn’t known Terence Higgs very well when he had been at Hogwarts. They hadn’t exactly been friends after he had taken Terence’s place as Seeker on the Quidditch team. He had been surprised when Higgs turned out to be a spy for the Order as well. Still, there was no denying that he had a point. Hadn’t the relationship he was thinking of sprung from some petty rivalry?
“Look, if he drives you up the wall, then you need to go after him and talk to him. Chances are, he feels the same way…” Terence said as he slipped inside the door of the Death Eater meeting.
