The Return

Alex and Cody looked up when they heard someone enter they room. Seeing their parents and little brother they tried to smile, but had trouble, as they felt awful for what they had almost done. Sure they didn’t like their older brother because of the pain he had put their parents through by not letting them be a part of his life, but that didn’t mean they wanted anything to happen to the babies.

“Could we really have done that with the spell we used?” Cody asked. He wanted his parents to tell him that Sirius was just trying to scare them, but judging by the looks on their faces he knew it was true.

“I am afraid so. You are just lucky the others acted so quickly as I don’t think Harry or Remus saw the spell coming soon enough to react with enough time.” Lily said thinking about the pain the two boys in front of her were going through. They really were good children, but they just got a little carried away. “No more pranks on those two until the children are born. You got that?” She said wanting it to be made clear that it wouldn’t be allowed.

“Yeah we got it.” Alex said. They would still prank them, but he would be sure they were safe to use on pregnant people.

“Good, now the two of you are grounded until the end of the break. No flying, praking, or going into town with your friends. You will stay in these rooms and will not leave them without permission until the rest of the students return. Understood?” James added to this.

The two boy’s faces fell when they heard their father say this. They thought they were going to get away with this without being punished. They didn’t know the trouble they would cause. When the two nodded everyone went back to doing their own thing.

Mitch had decided he would write Linda and let her know about the incident.

Severus woke up when he heard someone calling from their sitting room. Gently getting out of bed, trying not to wake his husband he walked in to see who was calling them. He was shocked to see Molly’s head in the flames.

“Severus, I just heard about what happened at dinner. How are Harry and the babies?” She had been terrified when she heard someone had attacked the two people carrying her first grandchildren

“They are just fine Molly, Harry is resting at the moment, and I think Remus is as well. The two were naturally shaken up when they found out that this could have caused miscarriage, but are better now that they know their children are ok.” Molly could see that Harry and Remus weren’t the only ones who were relieved the babies were ok.

“How are you doing dear?” Molly asked him.

Severus sighed before he answered her. “I don’t think I have ever been as scared as I was when I saw that curse flying at him. Then to find that it could have caused us to loose the twins, I think I wanted to murder the two brats right there.”

“Well you don’t have to worry. Harry is fine, your babies are fine, and you won’t lose them.” Molly said offering what comfort she could. “Well I need to get back and tell the others the babies are ok. I also have to call Sirius and check on Remus. I will talk to the two of you later.” She said with a smile before pulling her head from the flames.

Severus stood then, went back the bedroom, and lied down with his husband. Harry was asleep in his side so he spooned up behind him and wrapped an arm around him placing his hands on the bump that was his children.

“You need to stop worrying. We’re all ok, and you are the one to thank for that. I didn’t see the spell coming and had you not pulled me out of the way we would not have been so lucky.” Harry said as he turned in his husband’s arms.

“And you can honestly say you are not worrying about what happened?” Severus said as he looked into the green eyes.

“I am worried, but I will worry until they are born happy and healthy. I will worry that I am doing something wrong and it will affect them, but that is normal for a parent. You are allowed to worry too, but stop worrying when we are trying to sleep. I can sense the worry through the bond and it’s keeping me up.” Harry said as he smiled at his husband. When he saw him smile he knew his plan had worked.

“Alright I’ll stop worrying so you can sleep.” Severus said as he kissed his spouse. He then tucked Harry’s head under his chin and felt his husband snuggle closer. He knew Harry was right, they would always worry about their children, but they were safe now and that was all that mattered.

Linda looked up from showing her grandmother some of the things she had done in school when she heard an owl enter the house. Seeing one of the school owls she knew it had to be from Mitch as he was her only friend there. She smiled when the owl landed in front of her and quickly untied the letter. When she had finished reading the letter she looked at her grandmother and asked, “Grandma, is there a spell that can give people the stomach flu?”

“I don’t know, but I think your uncle Seth does.” Ruth said as she looked at her son who had just walked in and heard the little girl’s question.

Seth smirked at his niece and said, “Yes there it, it is quite nasty and makes the person sick for about a week.” He said wondering why she wanted to know.

Linda paled suddenly afraid to ask the next question. “What happens if a pregnant person where hit by it?” She saw the shocked looks on her grandmother and uncle’s faces.

“Sweetie, that is a nasty curse for a pregnant person. It can cause almost a month of the flu, as the person is weak from carrying the baby. It also stops the baby from getting the nutrition it needs and will lead to miscarriage. Why?” Seth asked his niece.

For once Ruth was afraid of an answer. She knew her son and his spouse were at Hogwarts and was afraid Harry had been hit by the spell and would lose the babies. She decided not to wait for an answer and left to find her husband. They would check on Harry and Severus themselves.

She found her husband in the sitting room with their daughters, “Linden, we are leaving.” When he just stared at her she added “NOW!”

“Mum, what’s wrong. What had you so upset?” Selina asked. She could see something had upset her mother and was worried.

“Nothing.” Ruth said and then saw the hurt look on her daughter’s face and said, “I just need to go to Hogwarts for a bit. We will be back soon. Linden let’s go.” She didn’t see the sense in worrying her daughters and her husband was complying.

When they had their cloaks on they apparated to the gates of the school and set off to find their oldest child.

Severus groaned when he heard someone banging on their door. He wanted nothing more than to stay in bed with Harry, but could tell the person wasn’t going to just go away.

Getting out of bed he started toward the door, and saw Harry was awake and following him out. He wished his husband would go back to sleep, but could see that wasn’t going to happen. So instead he wrapped an arm around him and lead him to the sitting room and over to the couch.

The banging continued “Yeah we hear you give us a second.” He said as he sat Harry on the couch. He could see his husband didn’t think this was necessary, but that wasn’t going to stop him. It was his job to make sure Harry was comfortable and safe.

Once his husband was safely on the couch he went and opened the door and was shocked to see his parents standing there. “What’s the matter?” He asked when he saw the worried look on his mother’s face.

“We heard about someone cursing Harry and had to make sure he and the babies were ok.” Ruth said as she pushed passed her son and went over to check the man on the couch over.

Harry was shocked when the woman began checking him for the slightest thing that might have been out of place. Severus, Sirius, Remus, and Molly had been the only people to ever do that, and he still wasn’t used to it when they did it.

“I’m fine, the curse didn’t even touch me.” Harry said as the two men walked in.

“Mum, he’s fine. The babies are fine, we already checked them.” Severus said, as he knew this was making Harry uncomfortable.

Ruth glared at her son, “So you went to a Mediwitch did you?” She knew the two probably just came down to their rooms so Harry could calm down. She would have done the same thing.

“No.” Severus said and then continued when he was the look on his mother’s face turn smug. “Harry is a mediwizard and checked the babies over.” He said with a smirk. He then went and sat next to his husband and put his arm around the man pulling him to his side.

“Oh, well why didn’t you say so?” Ruth asked

“Did you give them a chance?” Linden asked causing the others to laugh.

Severus’s hand fell to Harry’s stomach and he couldn’t hold back the smile when one of the babies rolled under the touch. He could see his parents looking at them and knew they could tell something had happened.

“If you want to know for sure if they are ok just put your hand on my stomach when Sev does. They seem to become more active when he is touching my stomach.” Harry said while smiling at his husband. He could tell Sev liked to feel the babies move.

“May I?” Ruth asked. She hadn’t been able to the night the two spent Christmas with them and had been disappointed by it. But she felt after having the children constantly touching his stomach he would want to be left alone.

“Go ahead.” Harry said. Severus lifted his hand to let his mother touch the bump and watched as her face fell. It was then he heard his husband’s voice, “They stopped.”

Harry was confused; they had been very active before. It was then he felt to hands and the babies were moving again. “I told you they usually moved for you.” He said to his husband.

The others just laughed.
