Title: What I Did During The Summer

Rating: R

Summary: Hermione is due to start her seventh year at
Hogwarts. However, she has a little surprise for Harry and Ron, one that will
test their friendship.

Chapter 10: Acting Like A Slytherin

�� Hermione
told Remus the good news and he, like Severus, was delighted in hearing that
Hermione was going to be a mother. However, he agreed with Severus that they
would have to keep the baby a secret until at least Severus retired from
teaching.

�� And then we can
let the whole world know,� he added.

Hermione smiled at that.

�� Hermione
got two letters the next day. One from her parents and the other from Mr.
Weasley. Both said that they were delighted that Hermione was expecting and
that they wanted to be there when the baby was born. Hermione wrote back
telling them that they were more then welcomed.

�� So when will I
find out what gender the child is going to be?� Hermione asked Severus when he
returned to finish adding the last part of the shop together.

�� In a month,� he
answered.

Hermione stared at him, shocked. He laughed.

�� You should know
that it takes shorter to find out the gender of a magical baby then a muggle
one.�

Hermione went pink. For the first time, she didn�t know
something.

�� July ended
with Hermione doing something for the first time since she started at Hogwarts,
not getting Harry a birthday present. She told Remus that he was a waste of her
money and that she had better things to do with what she had. Remus figured
that she hadn�t forgiven Harry for not defending her. When August started the
next morning Severus announced that he had four months left before he said
goodbye to all the dunderheads.

�� Should we have a
small party?� Hermione asked him.

�� No,� he said. �I�m
not having people wishing me luck and then the students celebrating not having
to look at me. They�ll be seeing plenty of me when they come into Hogsmead.�

Hermione laughed at the image of Ron and Harry running away
when they caught sight of her husband.

�� Hay, did you hear
that Bellatrix gave birth to a girl,� Hermione said, waving the Daily Prophet
in-front of him.

He took it and saw the image of a baby being handed over to
some unknown hand.

�� Nope, but I
figured that she would get herself banged up before having to return to
Azkaban,� he said coldly. �God, I hope that child doesn�t have magic.�

�� Severus, that�s a
bad thing to say,� Hermione said sternly. �Anyway, who says the child is going
to be anything like her mother. She might have been adopted
to loving parents and grow up loving everyone.�

�� And she might be
with twisted parents and she grows up to be just as twisted as her mother,�
Severus pointed out.

Hermione sighed.

�� Well I like to
think the child won�t be evil.�

�� We can only bet on
that,� Severus said.

Hermione nodded.

�� So did you hear
that Bellatrix gave birth to a little girl?� Professor McGonagall asked
Dumbledore.

Dumbledore nodded.

�� Who adopted her?�

�� I believe the
Neville�s gran did that,� he said.

McGonagall stared at him, shocked.

�� But
why?�

�� Well, she doesn�t
think that the child will grow up to be evil,� he explained. �She believes that
a child grows up like that if their around evil parents. So if she raises
Bellatrix daughter to be good, then it might break the Slytherin cycle.�

McGonagall looked at him intently.

�� Do you think it
will work?�

�� We can only hope,�
Dumbledore said. �Oh, I�ve got something of interest that I think you�ll find
amusing.�

McGonagall looked at him and then he handed her the part of
the Daily Prophet that had wedding announcements. He pointed to the last one
and she read:

Alicia
Spinnet, Pureblood married Dudley Dursley, Muggle in a church wedding.

�� What.�

Dumbledore grinned at her.

�� I think that this
is one thing that you should tell Harry about,� he said. �Give him a good laugh
knowing that his cousin has married a witch.�

�� Do you think Dudley
knows?�

Dumbledore shook his head.

�� I believe that
Alicia is in hiding from the last of Voldemort�s supporters,� Dumbledore told
her. �That means that she isn�t using her magic. I think I�ll go and visit her
tomorrow.�

She stared at him.

�� Do you think it�s
wise?�

�� Of course,�
Dumbledore said. �And maybe I�ll find out a thing or two about this marriage.�

�� Good luck.�

Note: I know that a lot of you weren�t expecting that, but hay;
I think its poetic justice. Next chapter: Dumbledore visits the Dursley�s and
Harry gets a good laugh.
