Looks like I made a chapter quicker than I thought I would. Here you go, Chapter 10. Also thank you to the two that have reviewed:AnimeEyes2 & Jojo. It really does mean a lot to me that I get them. I know this isn’t the most amazing story, but it is an outlet for me and I write it more for pleasure. It makes me happy knowing that there are some that can actually find entertainment out of it like I can.
Again. Thank you, to those who have read &reviewed. I appreciate it! <3

Draco was dumbfounded, absolutely stunned. Was Stephanie serious? She was literally going to just skip her classes, detention and think she could live to tell the tale? Well, she has spunk and a death wish, he gave her that much of a thought before turning to Adrianna. He didn’t know much about either of them nor any of their common interests, activities… the list could go on. All he knew is that he was in Slytherin, Stephanie was in Slytherin, and the girl beside him – was in Ravenclaw. Which of these things weren’t like the other? Of course, the Ravenclaw.
“I swear, ever since she’s gotten here she’s been having odd mood swings… First happy, then worried, then upset… then calm… then happy again – stress is obviously getting to her “Adrianna murmured to herself, frowning before her eyes landed on Draco. “What are you looking at?”
“Keh…nothing,” he narrowed his eyes towards the girl. “Come on, since you’re obviously not going with her… Unless you’re going to have a mental breakdown and go to Ravenclaw tower?” He finished thoughtfully before seeing a death glare in his direction from Adrianna.
“I’m going to class. I, for one, don’t want detention. As for Stephanie, she has enough detentions that I doubt she cares if more are tacked on, but… I don’t.” She quirked a brow in questioning; waiting for him to guide her to DADA. “You know I’m going to wait here until you go to Moody’s class… I’m not letting you follow her,she needs her time alone.”
“There’s no reason to follow that emotional wreck,” he huffed in irritation – catching Adrianna’s look of disapproval before rolling his eyes and walking towards DADA.
Really, why did he care for her so much? His father wouldn’t approve in the least… he had to get over his little fancy of the new student, and fast. The two made it to the class on time as he took his seat and Adrianna took hers – away from him, figured. He just had this class to deal with and Potions, then he had dinner… finally after that – he was free to do as he pleased.
- Back at the Slytherin Dungeon –
Stephanie slammed her door shut behind her, locking it as she flopped down onto the plush bed. It was amazing to not have a roommate, it was amazing to do magic, so many things were amazing – yet… her mood reflected that of, well… a lot of things. There were so many things coursing through her mind. She knew she was going off the wall with her emotions – flip flopping from this to that. It must have made her look bipolar – yet again, she was thinking that. It was true though… she had to keep her emotions under check; she wasn’t making a very good ‘spy’ out of herself else wise.
“Why me… why Adrianna… it makes no sense.” She whispered to herself as she closed her eyes. “This whole situation is so unrealistic… but there’s no way that it is a figment of my imagination. Nothing feels that real… this real… and is a dream or is imagined up on the spot.” She only stated this to reinforce the fact she was utterly sane and wasn’t going nuts. “Augh… I’m sure after I nap or something I will feel better...”
With that she curled up onto her side, not caring that the lights were on. She found that she was utterly exhausted, including after what happened the night before with Snape and Draco. Her cat jumped up onto the bed, she barely felt the shift of weight before pulling him close to her and holding him gently in her arms much like a child would a stuffed animal. At least she had him… not that Adrianna wasn’t something that she wanted to have around, but… she couldn’t always confide in Adrianna. Not to mention they had different view points on this and that, their personalities weren’t exactly similar, and… sometimes it was amazing they were friends – sisters in a way – but they never questioned it. If something was meant to be, it was meant to be. Which is how she should feel about the entire situation going on, but… she just found it difficult.
“G’night… Sess…” She mumbled tiredly before falling into a deep slumber.
- Back at DADA –
“And don’t forget, I want two pages on the Unforgiveable Curses by next week.” Moody exclaimed before sending the students on their way.
“Th…that was horrible,” Adrianna stated as she stood from her chair and began to absentmindedly walk towards the door.
While she had seen this in the movie, how Moody had showed the Unforgiveable’s… she couldn’t help but feel her heart twist for the poor thing. She hated spiders with a passion, but that was over-the-top… she had to agree with Hermione on that one. Yet, what was worse was the fact that Moody was going to make Hermione say the last curse, that asshole… he’s just posing as Moody – but I can’t tell anyone… who knows what could happen. Oh, no, she knew that it was the son of that one…guy that… was uhm… well he was basically using polyjuice potion to keep his shape as Moody – was all she knew. She completely forgot the guys name; it’d been forever since she last saw the movie.
“Aren’t you going to get lost, girl?” Draco didn’t even bother to call Adrianna by her name as he walked up behind her. “Potions is in this direction,” he pointed before promptly turning around and walking off, not caring if she followed or not.
“Oh,” she dumbly said… feeling stupid that she was lost in her thoughts. “H…hey, I have a name, it’s Adrianna. You can use it you know.”
“Shush, Ravenclaw…” That was what she was, nothing more and nothing less – it restated the fact for him not being so kind to her in the first place. “I’m only doing this because I’m sureI’ll hear an earful from Snape or Stephanie if I don’t. I’m a Slytherin, you’re a Ravenclaw… you figure things out.”
He didn’t even bother to look back, much less see the reaction the girl had on her face. He knew it would be one of fury, whether silent or not. Unfortunately he knew that she would more-than-likely be more verbal about her anger than most others. She did have a bad habit of opening her mouth at the most inopportune times, regardless of her intentions. Not to mention, her whispers were regular talking to a degree and her regular talking – well… he was sure he would lose hearing if he sat next to or around her. Granted she wasn’t always that bad, but he assumed she didn’t realize how obnoxious she could be – oh well, someone had to state it.
“Shut up, you befriended Stephanie– why not me?” She pried.
“Befriended? Funny term,” he scoffed – yep, she was a verbal one. “Before you go making bloody assumptions about who I am friends with and who I am not, shut your mouth andr evaluate yourself. For Merlin’s sake you’re obnoxious, annoying, and loud – just plain loud and verbal when you should be quiet.” He had stopped walking, turning towards her – his hands gesturing here and there. “I am not her friend, I will not be yours. You could afford to keep your bloody mouth shut here and there; you do not have to pipe in your own opinion at every chance you get!” He gave a frustrated sigh. “Even if I was friends with her, I wouldn’t be with you.” Was his childish ending as he turned back around and walked off.
Really, she wasn’t surprised he lashed out at her like this. She knew she was loud she knew she could be obnoxious… yet she didn’t care how others viewed her. Adrianna didn’t exactly think he had any right saying it to her either; he was just as obnoxious – with his high and mighty attitude and blatant lies. She saw how he treated Stephanie and it wasn’t on an acquaintance level. He would just have to deal with her, since she didn’t think Stephanie and her would be breaking up their friendship.
“Boys… really, you’d think they’d learn.” She followed him from a distance, at least she’d be rid of him after dinner – thinking of dinner, and maybe she should try to contact Stephanie if she wasn’t there? “I hope she doesn’t skip out just because she doesn’t want to deal with bumping into her teachers, “Adrianna chuckled at the thought – that was going to be interesting.
As the two entered the classroom and took their seats, again… away from one another the class finally starting as Snape walked in. Students were mumbling here and there and he reprimanded them, telling them to keep their mouths shut or he’d gladly give them detention with Filch. The kids quieted as he noted that one of his students were missing, that student was the one he had planned on talking to after class. His eyes narrowed as he looked towards Draco who only gave him a confused look of ‘I don’t know’.
“Well, class,” he couldn’t hold off the lesson. “We will be learning about antidotes. This is extremely important to learn, I expect everyone to pay attention to these lessons. You will be learning it all year round. If you fail to study hard, get good marks, and slack off you might find the antidote you make might not keep you alive…” He said coolly. “Before Christmas hits I might be poisoning a few of you, just to make sure your antidotes work.”
There were mumbles throughout the class of ‘He couldn’t do that’ and ‘He was bluffing’. Yet the look on the Potion Master’s face was that of someone telling the utter truth, which bothered Adrianna. She really wished Stephanie was here now; who knew what would happen if she made a habit out of skipping classes. She couldn’t have her friend poisoned! She knew Snape would go through with the threat, it was to make the students actually give a damn about the class – but she also knew he wouldn’t let that student die. She felt herself fidgeting in her seat as he went on with the lesson, taking down notes much like the other students.
“This is crazy… sometimes I wish I wasn’t here…” she groaned to herself in a whisper.
The class felt like hours before they were released to dinner, Snape promptly reminding them that if their antidote didn’t work – well, they wouldn’t be going home to their parents. They would be spending their Christmas in the medical ward until recovered. That fact made most of the students gulp in fear if not just quickly make their way out once told they could go.
“This is insanity, if any of my teachers back where… augh…” Adrianna had been speaking to herself, all the way down to the Great Hall as she stopped just to look over at Slytherin. “Stephanie… where are you,” she completely forgot about her utter frustration as her eyes continued scanning – no, no Stephanie. “Dang it all… knew she would do this…” Adrianna turned around and began walking to Ravenclaw’s table. “Knowing her she’ll just Accio something to her…” Adrianna snorted, well…looked like she was going to have a dinner alone.
“Why hello there,” a feminine voice spoke – almost in a sing-song voice. “You are the friend of that Slytherin girl, no?”
“I uhm.. ah… hello, yes… I am.” Adrianna didn’t expect anyone to come up to her, much less Luna – oh goodness it was Luna. “Why?”
“Oh, no reason… you know I don’t think I saw her, if you’d like I can eat with you,” Luna offered friendly.
Adrianna gave the girl an odd look. She was awfully friendly; of course she had met Luna previously. The girl drove her semi-insane, but it was good to have another friend here so she wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to get to know her fellow classmates. It would be easier to be introduced through Luna then going up to individuals and randomly calling them by name… shocking them… and feeling like a stalker. Adrianna gave the girl a nod in acceptance before they both sat down and began to eat.
- Back at the Slytherin Dungeon –
Stephanie stretched, giving a big yawn as she went to roll over and curl backup – to get more sleep, but as she did so she promptly rolled out of bed. With a yelp she sat up disoriented, holding her head from the sudden pain as she tried to untangle herself from her blankets.
“Augh, what time is it…” She muttered to herself, opening her eyes as they landed on the clock resting on her nightstand. “Oh, shit! It’s dinnertime,”she shot up and tried to straighten out her hair to look presentable before beginning to leave – in that instant she stopped, her hand on the handle of the door. “If…I go down there, the teachers eat up at that table and…I skipped class,” she groaned at the realization – she didn’t want to deal with that.
Stephanie looked around her; she didn’t really have any food with her. Though, she could Accio some food, right? After all, just because something wasn’t in the movie, didn’t mean they couldn’t do it… there must betimes when the students couldn’t make it to this place or the other, but maybe they could still use magic so they wouldn’t starve themselves. It had to be worth a try… at the very least. She picked up the wand that lay next to her clock, going through the motions very specifically.
“Accio applejuice.” It was pathetic she was using that spell to get food, but it worked – the juice appearing on the nightstand in front of her. “Well, what else do I want… guess…uhm…” She went through the specific motions once more, “Accio Chicken noodle soup!” Again, it worked – the soup right next to the juice as she gave a sigh of relief – “Accio spoon,” it was used once more, she wasn’t about to just drink it.
It was amazing what one could do with magic. Though, it felt a little ridiculous to be saying something like that out loud, much less summoning it. It felt a little like abuse…to the spell. She dipped the spoon down into the soup, before beginning to eat – she knew she couldn’t run forever. It wasn’t long before she was finished with both items, she would have to return them to the kitchen or somewhere…later or she could always keep the dishes and get some food in her room.
“Ugh, I’m surprised no one has bothered me…” Her eyes peered towards her door as Sesshomaru rubbed up against her back where she was sitting. “After all, I have detention right now…”
With that, it seemed she jinxed herself – there was a knock at her door and if that wasn’t unexpected enough they had the audacity to simply walk in. That little fact caused her to rise to her feet, the cat jumping up on the bed as she pointed her wand towardsher door. Just because someone knocked did not meant they had the right to come in without her permission – a few seconds more and her eyes would widen. Slag, slag… what the pit do I do – yes, she loved Transformers, she was sure she’d be using ‘slang’ that no one had particularly heard of… but that was beside the point.
“Well, Ms. Kirchner. It seems not only do you seem perfectly healthy, but you have quite the reaction time, ”Snape muttered. “Tell me, why did you skip today’s classes and not only that, your detention as well?” He gave her one chance to answer, one.
“I…I…” She stuttered, he was scary when he was upset. “I’m just overwhelmed, I know it doesn’t mean anything to you, but it does to me!” She huffed – she didn’t really have any ‘great’ reasons. “There’s nothing I can say that will seem ‘valid’ in your eyes to skip other than… I don’t belong here, I know I don’t, and I’m just…” She took a deep shaky breath. “Not handling it as well as Adrianna.”
She knew her friend went to class; the girl had a love for academics. Not to mention she knew Adrianna didn’t want to get in trouble, much less on the first day. So, Stephanie just had to come clean. She knew Snape had some idea of what was going on; even if he didn’t know the full story… he had to have some sympathy for her, right? She scrunched up her face somewhat at the thought, since when did he ever show sympathy – I’m screwed. He noted the look before walking forward, grabbing her arm and beginning to drag her off, much like their first encounter. At least she had tucked her wand into the waistband of her skirt – she’d taken off her coat when she’d slept.
“Whatever pathetic excuses you have for not wanting to go with me, you can keep it to yourself,” he drawled calmly –walking with her out the door. “I can’t waste time and neither can you, regardless of how you feel – you have to take responsibility and come to terms somehow.”
Well, that was nice – just drag her out and tell her ‘deal with it’. Maybe she needed that, maybe hearing that would make her work harder? Either way she found herself yanking her arm out of Snape’s grasp and marching down the stairs, past him in fury. Students were still in the common room, giving her an ‘ooh you’re in trouble’ look, they wouldn’t say it out loud though. Slytherin students, rather, talked behind your back – whispering things to others. That… that quality,Stephanie hated with a passion. Yet she was sure she’d be the talk of the night, if not a few more days to come. Her eyes finally landing on someone she really didn’t want to see, Pansy.
“Couldn’t you have done this at another time or contacted me.” Stephanie growled as they entered the hall – going toward Snapes quarters. “I’m going to be the talk of Slyth—”
“Silence yourself,” he commanded. “You should have come on your own, if you had done what you were supposed to do, this wouldn’t be happening.”He rounded the corner, quickly saying the password to his room and pushing her on.
She stumbled somewhat before balancing out as she took in the familiar surroundings. Draco was there with a scowl on his face, looking like the Draco she was more accustomed to. Why did he have to be here anyway for her to learn Occlumency? Harry didn’t need Ron or Hermione around when Snape was teaching him in…whatever movie that was. She frowned; it made no sense what-so-ever. Maybe Snape was using Draco as an informant and making sure she got around to where she said she was going? Stephanie really couldn’t put her finger on why.
“Why hello, glad you could finally join us – princess.” He sarcastically sneered before earning a whack to the back of the head by Snape. “Augh!”
“Draco,” he warned – he didn’t need a childish fight to ensue from his ignorance. “If you skip anymore classes,” he was now speaking to Stephanie, “I believe you’ll find yourself regretting it. Including in the weeks before Christmas rolls around, I’m not about to go through a personal lesson with you – that is your fault for not coming.”
She glared at him, crossing her arms – well, he didn’t have to. She could just ask Adrianna and everything would be done with. It didn’t take long for them to realize she wasn’t going to be making any excuses much less fight them on the matter as Snape went onto the next thing. He had to teach her how-to protect her mind.
“You know why you are here, you are to protect your mind – keep me out of your deepest secrets.” Snape began. “If you fail to do so, I will just continue until you do.”
“Oh goodie,” she rolled her eyes at the prospect of him finding out more about her than she wanted. “And why does he have to be here?” She gave a motion towards Draco.
“He is here because he will also be invading your mind,” he gave her an interested look as she seemingly paid more attention. “If you do not block your mind by the end of my lessons… I believe your secrets will be an open book to Draco.”
“W..Wait, you can’t do that!” She snapped, “Draco is in no way going to get anything from me!” She saw the sick and twisted smile on Draco’s face – it was horrifying, she had to… keep that from happening at all costs.
“Well, then, you better start learning…”
