Chapter 10: The Truth

Riley sat on the edge of the bed in Mike's hotel room. He just told her everything. He was sitting far away from her because he didn't know how she was going to act. After they came back from the interview he pulled her aside and told her that he had to tell her something. So now here they were. Sitting in silence, not knowing what to say.
"So, you're telling me that we've been brain washed for the last five years?" She asked and Mike nodded.
"So, Danielle?" she asked not wanting to look at him. He sighed, "She some how involved in this. We've all regained our memories back. But for some reason you can't get yours back."
"How do you know?" she asked trying to hide her anger.
Mike took a deep breath and let it out, "You tried to remember a few times and you ended up getting headaches. Once time it was really bad, and you ended up sleeping for about ten hours. That's when Kelsey tried to use the antidote but you went into a seizure. We don't know what it is. But we have a feeling if you try to remember anything, it could kill you."
"Huh," was all she said. After a few more moments of silence, "So Hermione?" Mike tried to hide his smile, "She's real. What you feel for her is real. What she feels for you is real. She's been with you this entire time, you just didn't know it. She loves you, and you love her. You always have."
Riley sat there for a few more minutes and looked up at Mike, "This is a lot to take in," she said standing up, "I need to think about this," Mike stood up and walked over to her not knowing what to do. Riley walked up to him and hugged him, "Thank you," she said and he hugged her, "Hey what are brothers for," he smiled and they let go of each other.
"Don't let anyone find me for a while. Please?" She asked him and he knew she was serious. He just nodded, "I'll let them know," he said in almost a whisper. With that she walked out of his room. He sat back down in his chair and let out a long breath he didn't know he was holding. He hoped he did the right thing.

Hermione was in the lobby with everyone else waiting to find out how Riley took the news that her life was a lie for the last five years. How does someone react to that? Are they relieved? Are they angry? Are they happy? Five years is a long time to be lied to. It's a long time to be living a life that you thought you had. Hopefully Riley will be happy to know that the truth finally came out.
Mike finally walked into the lobby and everyone was expecting Riley to be with him, but she wasn't there. Hermione of course was the first to notice, "Where's Riley?"
Mike looked at her, "She needed some time to think about everything. I mean, it was a lot to take in." Hermione nodded, and Harry and Draco came up to her for support. "But I did tell her that what she feels for you is true and vice versa. I told her that you're real and that you've always been there for her. So she knows." Hermione smiled and Mike just wrapped his arms around her. Something he hasn't done in a long time.
"Come on, Sirius invited all of us for dinner," Harry said. They all nodded and started to follow Harry. Mike took Hermione's hand and they both walked together behind everyone else. No one knew what to say. Their friend was trying to figure out what was real and what was a lie. It wasn't any surprise that Riley wanted time alone. Who wouldn't want time alone after that news.
They came up to the restaurant and saw Sirius sitting at a round table. He waved them over and he stood up. He gave them each a hug and told each of them it was great to see them again. He came up to Hermione and smiled a soft smile, "Oh love, it will get better soon, I promise," she nodded against his chest and his kissed her on top of her head.
Once everyone was seated the waiter brought over menus for them to look at. He took their drink orders and then left. "Where's Riley? I was hoping to see her tonight too," Sirius asked looking around the table. Everyone looked at each other as if they were silently discussing who was gonna be the one to tell him what happened. They all finally settled on Kelsey. He just nodded and took in a deep breath and looked at Sirius, "She found out a lot tonight," he began to say.

Riley sat on the beach listening to the waves softly crashing on the beach. It was the sound of calm for her. She didn't know what to think at this point. She didn't know what was real and what was a lie. She knew that with Danielle it felt off, like something was missing. She knew that with Hermione it was complete. Hermione felt safe where as Danielle felt forced. Like she was obligated to be with Danielle. But with Hermione it felt like it was meant to be.
She stood up and brushed off the sand from her jeans. She put her hands in her pockets and sighed. She knew what she had to do. Even if it meant she would end up dyeing she needed to get her memories back. But for right now she needs to let out some frustration and she knew exactly how to do that.
She took one last look at the ocean and sighed. She turned her back to the beach and started to make her way back up to the hotel. She knew how to get rid of the frustration. A smile came to her face when she walked up the steps that led to the hotel.

Dinner was finishing up and everyone declined dessert, because they were too full to fit anymore food into their stomachs. Kelsey asked for the check and Sirius told him that he was on him. The two went back and forth until they both decided to split the bill in half.
Hermione whispered something to Harry and she stood up and walked away. Draco watched her leave and leaned over to Harry, "Is she okay?" Harry nodded, "She's just worried about Riley like always." Draco nodded and sat back in his seat.
Kelsey and Sirius settled the dinner bill and then everyone stood up. Sirius offered to walk them to the lobby so that way he has some more time to catch up with them. They weren't too far behind Hermione. She could hear the guys chatting behind her and she smiled. Her friends were behind her always supporting her. But this time she didn't know if they could fix this void in her heart. Just when she thought it was filled, it ends up being empty again. She didn't know what Riley was feeling.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard some say, "Riley?" she looked up and saw just the tail end of Riley turning down a hallway. Everyone rushed to keep up with her, but when they turned the corner she was gone. "Where did she go?" Draco asked.
Kelsey chuckled, "Listen for music and you'll find her," Harry looked at him confused. "Music?" He asked.
"When she needs to think she likes to dance. It takes away some of her frustration," Eric explained. Harry nodded and started to listen for any music that he could hear.

Riley walked into the hotel's ballroom and turned on the lights. She smiled at the empty room. She walked over to the stage and placed her portable stereo and turned it on. She opened the CD holder and placed her CD that said, "DEMOS" on it and before she selected a number she took off her sleeveless hoodie and placed right next to the stereo. Now she was in her tight black t-shirt, slightly baggy jeans, and her black sneakers. She adjusted her hat and put it forwards so that the bill was covering her eyes.
She didn't lock the door to ballroom but she also didn't want some one to know who she is. She selected the number she wanted to dance to and smiled. She's been working on the choreography for this song for a while. She could never bring it to the guys. She didn't know how they would take the new sound. But she knew one day these songs would make their way into the world some how. She stretched for a few moments and then hit play on the stereo and then she walked to the center of the dance floor and waited for the music to start.

"Hey guys I think I hear something," Ryan said and they all started to follow him and the music started to get louder. They came up to a set of doors and heard music coming from inside. Ryan reached for the knob and it turned to open. He put his finger to lips telling them to be quiet. He slowly opened the door and they all slowly made their way into the ballroom.
Once they were all inside the saw Riley dancing to the music and they could also hear her singing along to what sounded like her as well. Kelsey listened closely and he couldn't believe she actually kept this song. This was supposed a song for some one else because it didn't really fit their sound. But he had no idea Riley would like something like this.
They were all watching her dance and nodding their heads along with the music. They forgot how amazing Riley was at dancing. Sometimes it was as if she didn't have any bones in her body when she moved. Her footwork was like she was on ice skating. She was just gliding all over the floor, as if it was she was on the clouds and nothing was holding her down.

Mike was actually surprised he was liking this song. It wasn't something he would listen to, but he liked this one. He knew Riley was working on some stuff for other artist, but he didn't know it was something this good.

Hermione couldn't help but smile watching the woman she loved look so care free and enjoying what she loved so much. She knew Riley loved to dance. She remembered watching her in the Room of Requirement once. It was after her mom and her brother and sisters were found. Riley got up that night and left. Hermione found her in the Room of Requirement just dancing her troubles away.

Harry watched as Riley danced and sang along to the song. Something about it seemed familiar and he didn't know why. But he couldn't help but some what dance along to the song.

"Think we found our next video," Eric whispered to Ryan as the two of them were tapping their feet to the beat of the music. They loved it. The sound, the lyrics, everything about it. It was different.

Draco gave Hermione a small nudge when they heard the words to the next verse. He winked at her and she blushed. He chuckled and put his arm around her as they watched Riley continue to dance to the song.

Sirius was too caught up in the music to not notice it was over. Kelsey tapped him on the shoulder and put his fingers to lips and then, pointed to the door. Sirius nodded and started to turn red. He was so busy dancing and getting lost into the song that he didn't know it was over. It was a good song and he would listen to it again if he could.
They all left quietly and started to walk down the hall with smiles on their faces.
Riley turned around after turning off her stereo. She could have sworn that some one opened the door. But she didn't see anyone. She grabbed her stereo and then her hoodie. She walked towards the light switch to turn off the lights, then she walked out of the ballroom.
Once she was in the hallway, she pulled out her phone. She had to do something else. Something big, she had phone calls to make.

The next day Riley was no where to be found. Of course her friends were in a panic. She wasn't in her room, the ballroom, the lobby, the restaurant, the places they shot the video, they couldn't find her.
Just when they were about to ask the hotel security, they saw people rushing towards the beach. They were cheering and shouting "OUTSIDERS" with a confused look Eric stopped one of them, "Hey what's going on?"
The teenage boy looked at Eric with wide eyes, "OH MY GOD! You're Eric!!!" He held up his phone and took a quick picture, "Shouldn't you be on the beach?!" he said and then started to run towards the beach.
He looked back his friends and they were just as confused as he was. Without any words being said they all started to follow the crowd. But they kept getting bombarded by fans. Asking for autographs or taking pictures. Harry and Draco were trying to protect Hermione. Apparently there was a picture of her that was released now people know what she looks like.
Sirius came running up to them and started to guide them towards the beach, "BLOODY IDIOTS!" He shouted pushing through the crowd. They finally made it to the beach and they saw what seemed to be a platform that was between the ocean and the beach. They saw Riley standing there in all white. White sleeveless hoodie, tight white t-shirt, skinny white jeans with rips, and white high top sneakers. Also her hat was on backwards and it too was white.
There were also four girls dressed in white shirts just above the knee, white tank tops, and high top white sneakers as well. Once they reached the platform/stage, Kelsey climbed the steps and walked up to Riley, "Riley what the fuck is going on?"
Riley just smiled and hugged Kelsey, "Trust me and just watch," she whispered in his ear, "Thank you" she whispered then let him go. Kelsey went back down to where everyone was standing.
"What did she say?" Draco asked, "To trust, to just watch, and she told me thank you," he said. Now everyone was even more confused. Just then the camera crew that was shooting their music video showed up. Their director went up on stage and talked to Riley for a few minutes.
After their talk he walked off stage, then another guy came up and hooked up a hands free microphone to Riley. After a check with the sound guy he rushed off stage. Riley and the girls huddled up and after a minute or two they broke apart.
Riley came up to the front of the stage and smiled, "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to this exclusive performance. I've been wanting to do this for a very, very, very, very, long time. Most of you don't know is that I love to dance. I've actually choreographed a few music videos for some artists. But this time I'm doing this on my own."
She looked down at her friends, "Now this would not have been possible without my band mates, my best friends. I do hope it's okay for me to use Outsiders since each one of them had a hand in helping me making this track." Her friends looked at each other confused.
"Mike, for laying down the drum beats for this song. Eric, for finding the right beat to go with this track. Ryan for getting a kick ass bass line to keep the beat going. Finally, Kelsey, for helping to produce, and write this song. Come on every one give up! If it wasn't for these guys this song would not exist!"
The crowd cheered loudly and the guys just smiled and waved. "One more thing, I want to thank my inspiration," just then two guys came up to Hermione and started to guide her to the stage. Another guy put a chair in the center of the stage. Hermione walked up the steps and Riley took her hand. "I didn't know who I was writing this song for. But after what I found out last night, I knew exactly who this song was for. This isn't your traditional love song. Plus I'm pretty sure you'll know this song," Riley said with a wink. She let Hermione sit in the chair and then covered up her microphone.
"Do you remember the song from the warehouse?" Riley asked and Hermione nodded, "Do you remember the steps?" Riley asked, and again Hermione nodded, "Good, follow my lead and you'll be fine," She kissed the back of Hermione's hand.
"Riley what's going on?" Hermione asked trying to hide her nervousness.
"Trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet," she said with a wink and got up and started to walk towards the front of the stage, Hermione eyes went wide, Riley has said those words to her before. Five years ago. Why would she say them again?
Hermione sat there in her jean shorts, pink strap tank top, sandals and her hair was up in a ponytail. She didn't know what song Riley was referring to. She couldn't remember. She was trying to. She then heard the song slowly start up and then everything started to come back to her.
Riley nodded to the girls and they got in their places. Riley's arm went up and that was the signal for the rest of the music to start.

Eric, Kelsey, Ryan and Mike looked at each other with wide eyes, "Isn't this the audition song?!" Ryan asked and the guys nodded as they watched Riley and girls dance to the song.

Sirius again started to get lost into the music and started to dance. The crowd was going crazy, they were cheering and dancing along to the song.

Riley walked up to Hermione and took her hand and Hermione couldn't help but smile, all her nerves went away and all that mattered what her and Riley for the next few minutes.

"GO HERMIONE!!!" Mike yelled and everyone looked at him like he was crazy, "What? I knew we picked her for a reason," he said with a smile and started to fully dance to the song.

Riley went over to Hermione and brought her close, "You remember the next part?" She whispered and Hermione smiled and nodded. She started to walk to the back of the stage staying along with the beat. Riley wanted to watch but she knew she had to do a few more dance moves.

Riley turned to Hermione and nodded. Hermione smiled and rushed to Riley who lifted her over her head and the crowd cheered so loud Riley couldn't hear herself sing. Their friends were going crazy and cheering them on. Riley slowly let Hermione and they smiled at each other.

They finished the song and dance with Riley and Hermione's lips almost touching. For a few moments they forgot everyone was around. Hermione touched Riley's cheek and at that moment Riley couldn't help it she kissed her. Riley forgot about all the cameras and everyone that was watching. The crowd didn't care they were cheering loudly and they kept chanting "OUTSIDERS!"
Riley and Hermione finally broke apart and they looked out and saw the crowd cheering for them. Hermione laughed trying to hide her blush and stayed close to Riley. She just smiled and kept holding onto Hermione's hand. Riley invited the dancers to come up to them and they all took a bow.
"Thank you every one for coming out! Thank you to the lovely dancers we had here today, Also thank you to my muse, my angel, my saving grace, Hermione!" Riley said letting Hermione take the stage. The crowd cheered and cheered, Riley came up to Hermione and kissed her again. "Thank you again!!"
With that they all got off the stage and started to make their way to the hotel. Once they were inside they all rushed to Riley's room. The dancers went another direction to distract the crowd that was following them.
Eric was the last one to enter, "Riley that was amazing!" He said coming up to her and giving her a hug. Everyone gave her a hug and told her how amazing her performance was. They did the same time with Hermione.
"But you do realize what this means right?" Kelsey asked. Riley looked at him confused.
"Riley it means there's going to be rumors about the reason you broke it off with Danielle. You pretty much proclaimed your love for Hermione. So now the tabloids are going to have a field day. I hope you're ready for that. Especially since Hermione isn't a famous person either. There's going to be backlash. Plus, now that we're with Red Label again, I'm not sure we can afford a scandal." Kelsey finished his speech.
Everyone knew he was right. Hermione looked at Riley and she took her hand in hers. She looked at Hermione and she felt calm and she couldn't help but feel like she could do no wrong.
"Are you ready for this?" Riley asked Hermione. Hermione looked into Riley's crystal blue eyes. Those eyes she looked into five years ago and they made her heart skip a beat. Now here they were five years later and her heart still skipped a beat.
"As long as I have you, I'll be ready for anything," she said. Riley smiled and looked at Kelsey and then, Eric, then Ryan, then, Mike.
"I know this looks bad, but we've been together this long. I don't want to loose what our friendship has. We've been friends ever since we were teenagers. I trust everyone in this room. I love everyone in this room. You're my family. We've been through worse, I mean well I think we have. But all I'm saying is that if we stuck through everything the last what fifteen years, what's another few. We started with nothing, and I'm sure if things don't down the drain we'll still have each other. I know I want. My heart doesn't lie," she said that last thing while looking at Hermione.
She looked around the room, "We've been there for each other through thick and thin, and I'm not sure about you guys, but I want to go home and get my stuff out of Danielle's place and move somewhere else. I'm ready to take another step in our friendships, in our music, in our future. I want us to be okay. Are we okay?" She looked around at her friends hoping they would come around.
To her surprise Mike stood up first, "Riley, you're like a sister to me and I'll go where ever you go. We've been in this since the beginning and I don't plan on running away anytime soon." He gave her a hug and then gave one to Hermione.
"I'm ready for what ever's to come," Eric said with a smile.
"I'm with you," Ryan said smiling.
Kelsey was watching everything going on and he sighed, "God damn it! Who's gonna take care of ya if I leave," he said with a laugh.
Riley sighed with relief. She looked at Draco and Harry, "You guys have been incrediable and I hope you would join us as well," she held out her hand for them to shake. Harry and Draco looked at each then looked at her and they both hugged her. Everyone laughed, even Sirius joined in.
"Well I guess I'll be going back with you guys," Sirius said.
Harry looked at his Godfather in disbelief, "Really?" Sirius nodded and Harry took hugged his Godfather. Everything was as it should be. The only thing now was to try to get Riley's memories back.
