Hello again every one! Thank you so much for your reviews. They really do keep me going. Not much to say about this chapter other then this one is just Hermione's POV because she is meeting with the Weasley's so there is a lot of plot. The next chapter will be all Draco because he is having dinner with his mother. As always let me know me what you think, and responses are at the bottom.
“’Mione, it’s just my parents,” Ginny said for the umpteenth time. “They aren’t going to care about what you are wearing.”
Hermione looked at herself in the mirror again. “I know, but I don’t want them to think I’m different or something.”
It was Saturday morning and Ginny and Hermione were getting ready to go down to Hogsmeade. Hermione had been anxiously waiting for today since she got her letter on Monday.
In fact, the only time she didn’t think about today was on Tuesday when she was at her apprenticeship. She was going to be working in The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures for the time being. Hermione wanted to test the waters in a ll departments before making her final decision.
Her first day went well. Everyone wanted to shake her hand and say hello. Hermione was glad the her boss, Mariah Andrews, treated her like a normal person instead of a war heroin. The only other person that treated her normally was Kingsley, who had escorted her back at the end of the day.
“We are still awaiting your reply, Ms. Granger,” he had said, “in regards to what you would like us to do concerning your parents.”
“Yes, Minister,” she had replied. “In all honesty, I haven’t read it yet.”
“Oh? And why not?”
“Because I am unsure if I want to know the results.”
Kingsley laughed. “My dear Ms. Granger. I can tell you that it is good news. But that is all I will say, you need to read the letter.”
“Earth to Hermione.” Ginny snapped her fingers in front of Hermione’s face, pulling her back to the present.
“Are we ready?” Pansy asked, peaking her head in.
“Yes, sorry.” Hermione replied as she grabbed her wand and the letter from the Ministry.
The three girls descended the stairs and were greeted by the rest of the eighth years, excluding Ron and Daphne, with Harry, Draco, and Theo at the front.
“Finally” Blaise said sarcastically. “Can we go now?”
“We told you to go,” said Pansy.
“Right. We are all a group now so we all stick together, though,” Blaise said defensively. “I just didn’t think it would take this long.”
“Oi!” Draco said putting his arm around Hermione. “Some people have other things on their mind besides getting sloshed at ten in the morning.”
Hermione giggled leaning into Draco. “You do drink a lot, Blaise,” she said before standing on her tippy toes to give Draco a kiss. “Thanks for waiting” she added as they lead the way out of the portrait.
“You are most welcome.” Draco replied pulling her close. “You look beautiful by the way.”
Hermione blushed. “Thanks.” She pulled out the letter and began to open it.
“Finally,” said Ginny. “We get to find out about your parents. What’s it say?”
Dear Ms. Granger,
We are pleased to inform you that we have found your parents in Australia. They
Are very much alive, well, and unharmed.
We have been able to observe them for quite some time, and have noticed that, while they are happy, they seem to notice a certain something missing.
If our accusations are correct, we believe that they do miss you.
As you may have already guessed, it is not often that we perform reversal Memory Modification charms, primarily because they original caster had all of the memories that were taken in the first place.
We are more than willing to give their memories back, if you would like, or you can do it when you have some time. A third option would be to send us the memories you took so that we can properly give them back.
We eagerly await your reply.
Sincerely,
Wicksworth McDoogle
They had reached the Entrance Hall now. “What are you going to do?” Ginny asked.
“Write back when we get back to the castle.” Hermione stated. “I’ll think about it more later.”
“One issue at a time right?” Harry said smiling.
“It will be okay. I promise.” Draco pulled her closer as they walked.
Everyone chit-chatted about what they were going to do today.
Once they entered Hogsmeade, everyone went their separate ways as Draco, Ginny, Harry, and Hermione made their way to Hog’s Head.
“Oh, remind me to get more ink and quills before going back,” Hermione said to Draco.
He laughed. “As long as you remind me to stop by Honeydukes.”
“Deal.” Hermione smiled.
“You guys are so cute together” Ginny said smiling. Hermione’s smile increased.
They rounded the last corner and almost walked straight into the Weasley’s. Ron was already with them.
“Hi, mum,” said Ginny.
“Oh, Ginny dear!” Mrs. Weasley exclaimed pulling her into a hug. Next was Harry, then Hermione.
Before anything else was said, Draco stuck out his hand to Mr. Weasley. “It is a pleaser to see you, Mr. Weasley. How has work been?”
Mr. Weasley was shocked, to say the least. “Very well,” he replied shaking Draco’s hand. “How has school been?”
“Wonderful, as always.” Draco didn’t miss a beat. “I was actually just offered a Potions apprenticeship that I will be starting next week.”
“That’s very good to hear.”
“Mrs. Weasley,” Draco said turning. “You look lovely.”
Mrs. Weasley blushed. “Thank you Mr. Malfoy.”
“Well, I am going to take my leave, as this is family business. Plus, Theo and Blaise want me to go to Zonko’s with them.” Before he left, he kissed Hermione’s forehead and hands and said, “I will come by in about an hour to see if you are all finished so we can do our shopping.”
“Okay,” Hermione smiled. And with that, Draco turned the corner and left.
“Shall we?” Harry said breaking the silence and pulling Hermione from her thoughts. Oh, how she wanted Draco here with her.
Ginny bumped her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile.
“Thank you,” she said to Harry and she stepped inside.
“Well, this is a pleasant surprise,” said the man behind the bar.
“Hey, Ab,” Harry said. “Hope you don’t mind. We have some family matters to discuss and figured this would be the best place.”
“Not at all. Make yourselves comfortable, and I’ll be right over.”
Once they were all settled with their drinks, Mrs. Weasley looked at Hermione with sad eyes. “Dear, I want you to know that you will always be a part of our family. I am hurt that you even thought otherwise.”
“Well, Ron did a good job at pointing out that I’m not one of your biological children. And given that who I am with, I wasn’t sure if you would still want me around.”
“It was a bit of a shock, but he seems to be doing whatever is asked of him.” Mr. Weasley said. “And you seem to be happy.”
“Happy doesn’t even begin to describe it.” Ginny said.
“Well, Harry,” Mr. Weasley said. “You have been around them. Care to fill us in?”
“Of course. Where would you like me to start?” Harry asked.
“How about over the summer, while everyone was at Grimmauld.”
“Mum, I already told you everything. I promise I didn’t lie.” Ron said.
“Hush, you.” Mrs. Weasley looked at him sternly and he quieted right down.
Harry told the Weasley’s everything he had observed over the summer, and continued into the start of the school year. He made sure to tell every detail of the incident on the train and in the common room, when Hermione told him about Draco, and about the many times, he had to drag Ron away from groups of girls.
“Draco has treated Hermione with unwavering respect. I know he is good for her. I’ve talked with him on multiple occasions. Ron is my best mate. I want him to be just as happy. And he seems to be okay with this new girl.”
“New girl? What new girl?” Mrs. Weasley asked.
“Daphne Greengrass,” Hermione stated when Ginny, Harry, and Ron started to exchange looks. The three of them looked at her. “I’m not blind. I’ve seen you two together a lot. Starting when Harry dragged you into the library and she followed behind.”
Ron just starred at her. “That doesn’t bug me though. What does bug me is that you are so quick to be rude to Draco when some of the things Daphne has said to me over the years are worse then what Draco said and did to you.” Ron just continued to stare at her.
“That is an excellent point, Hermione,” Mr. Weasley said.
“I want it understood,” Mrs. Weasley said sternly, “That everyone sitting at this table is family. I have my reservations about Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Greengrass because of everything that has happened in the past, but would like to get to know them a little better. Lastly, Ronald, you need to apologize to Hermione and Mr. Malfoy for your actions.”
“Sorry, ‘Mione.” Ron said looking at his hands.
“Apology accepted.” Everyone relaxed and continued chatting away.
LadyShire: I'm glad to hear that you are going to see this story through to the end. Of course, I will write more, but I'm not sure about a sequel as of yet. I haven't gotten that far lol. I love the love that is brewing between them as well. And I am glad to know that I make you smile. I'm interested to hear what you think about this chapter since it's more about what the family is thinking now. And about the letter concerning Hermione's parents.
staar: I love them together too. There will be more fights in the future but not for a while. Not all relationships are sunshine and rainbows :). I really think that she is honestly opening up to Draco, even though she has Ginny as well, but communication is always a key factor in any relationship and they are working on building this relationship up to it's highest.
Thunderbird: LOL, yes it did. I remember how you took my suggestion in SMN, and it turned out amazing. You are a big reason to why I started posting this on here to begin with so it seemed only fair. You are still my role model when it comes to writting fan fiction. I feel like Draco still has a lot to prove to Hermione when it comes to this relationship because of everything that he did to her in the past and having him take some of the Veritaserum was a good start to it. If you hadn't of suggested it, I probably never would have thought about it so thank you.
I hope Daphne is good for Ron to. Astoria is the carzy one lol. I haven't quite figured them out yet, but I do know that they were, at some point, become a part of the group that is forming between the Slytherin's and Gryffindors.
Yes, I am feeling better, finally. It took about 5 days for me to get back to normal. Life is always throwing some kind of curve ball, good or bad, just to keep us on our toes. I look forward to your review as always.
