Severus Snape had flooed to Diagon Alley, when he got up at eight am his dad was already on his second can of beer and arguing with his mother. At first he just tried to hide in his room and do his homework, but he realized he was running low on most of his ingredients. Severus was not sure he had enough for everything he needed, so he brought a list and was going to check out prices. He was about to walk into the Apothecary shop when someone ran into him.
"Hey," Severus was about to yell at this person. But then he saw the familur red hair. "Serafina?"
"Severus?!" Sera said shocked.
Severus could not help but stare at her, there was quite a bit of her skin to see. And for the first time he could see her chest area, it was larger then he had expected. Then he realized he was staring and looked up, he did not want to seem like a pervert, then he noticed that she seemed aggitated.
"Are you alright?" Severus ased.
"I ran into stupid Black on the way here," Sera said. "The slug for brains is running away and abandoning his little brother."
"Well we both know is an arse," Severus said.
"You don't just leave family like that," Sera said. Severus looked at her face, and realized it had more to do with her dead family. So he found himself pushing some of her read hair behind her hair, just wanting to touch her. She looked up at him. "So what are you doing in Diagon Alley today?"
"Potion ingredients," Severus said. "And to avoid my arguing parents. What about you?"
"A book I ordered from Borgin and Burkes is ready," Sera said. "And my wand decided to act funny today, so I was going to take it to Ollivander to see whats wrong."
"Your going to Knockturn Alley?" Severus asked, this girl was becoming more and more perfect for him. She nodded.
"Do you have time to come with me?" Sera asked.
"Yes," Severus said. "My parents prolly don't even notice I am gone."
"So will you come with me?" Sera asked.
"Of course," Severus said.
The two walked down to the much darker Knockturn Alley, Severus really wanted to hold her hand again. Part of him even wanted to pull her into a corner and kiss her, a lot. He held open the door to Borgin and Burkes for her, and they went in together. Sera had to show her recipt and mail slip, and even her wand to get her book. Severus's eyes widened when he the title of the book, "Magick Moste Evil", he'd always wanted to read that book. The book was at school, in the restricted section but none of the teachers woul sign his slip to get it.
"I thought you had be 17 to buy that book," Severus said.
"Not for a Tepes decendent," The man behind the counter said as he wrapped the book up. Severus just looked at Sera.
"Thank you Mr. Borgin," Sera said when he handed her the book. Then Severus and Sera walked out the door.
"You a decendent of Vlad the Impaler?!" Severus blurted out.
"Yes," Sera said. "Through Grandma Magda."
"Ollivanders next?" Severus said. He had other questions, but didn't ask.
"Yes," Sera said. "Crap I almost forgot. Black had me a frazzled that I dragged Karen into the Leaky Cauldron. She's waiting for me there."
"You left a muggle in the Leaky Cauldron?" Severus whispered as they went back into Diagon Alley."
"It's the stupid dogs fault," Sera said. "I told her not to talk to anyone. And if a waiter came by just to order Elderberry tea."
"Good thinking," Severus said. "Ollivander can take while with wands."
"True," Sera said. Then Severus held open the door for her and they walked into the shop.
"Ah Ms. Selwyn, and Mr. Snape," Mr. Ollivander said. "How may I help you today?"
"My wand is acting up," Sera said holding up.
"Hmm," Mr. Ollivander said looking at, then took it in his hand. "This wand is older then I am, Hornbeam and Vampire Fang 10 and 1/4 inches. Very old indeed. A family wand?" Sera nodded. Then he placed the wand up to ear. "Hmm, interesting. It says you have changed."
"What does that mean?" Sera asked very confused.
"Simply put, the wand does consider you its true master anymore," Mr. Ollivander said. "It will wait for you to have son, it says." He handed the wand back to her.
"Oh," Sera said. "What do I do now?"
"A new wand is in order," Mr. Ollivander suggested.
"I'll understand if you need to leave and finish up your shopping," Sera said to Severus.
"I told you before," Severus said. "I have all day." He then sat in the only chair in the store while Mr. Ollivander took measurement of Sera.
Mr. Ollivander next started to pick out wands here and there, most seemed to be made with Hornbeam like her first one. But even after twenty of those there was still no use. So he went to look the wands in the back, and Severus and Serafina started talking. A few moments later he came back out with one box.
"Beech and Unicorn Hair, 9 3/4 inches," Mr. Ollivander said. "Nice and supple." He handed the wand to Sera.
In that moment Sera felt a connection to this wand, a connection she had no where else in her life. Even Ollivander was excited to have picked this wand right. Sera looked over at Severus and he was smiling at her.
"How much?" Sera asked.
"5 Galleons and 3 sickles," Mr. Ollivander told her. Sera pulled out her bag and paid Ollivander the money. He wrapped up her new wand and then the two teens left the store.
"I never expect that to happen," Sera said just as the clock stuck noon.
"Now you have a Serafina wand, and not just a Sewlyn wand though," Severus told her. "And it looked very pretty." She raised an eyebrown at him. "Well at least in comparison to mine. Which is Ebony so its all black."
"Like your outifits," Sera said.
"Oh," Severus said, taking it as criticism. "I don't own any other colours."
"It's cool," Sera said. "Black is one my top three favourite colours."
"It is?" Severus asked hopefully.
"Yes," Sera said as her tummy growled. "Green, for Slytherin, and Blood red are my other two favourite colours. Oh and it seem its lunch time."
"So it seems," Severus said.
"I know," Sera said. "Since you said you had all day, and you hung out with me all day. Let me treat you to lunch, well that is if you okay that Karen is there too."
"It's fine," Severus said, really wanting to spend more time with her. The two walked to the Leaky Cauldron together, and got a surprise of a lifetime.
"Selwyn!" Sirius said sitting next to Karen. "So this is you sister. Oh look it's Snivillus."
"Leave it to a Gryffindor to ruin a good day," Sera said.
"Aww," Karen said. "Wait what's a Gryffindor. Sirius here is funny."
"Only a joke of a human would abandon his baby brother," Sera said. "I invited Severus to lunch."
"I'll stay too," Sirius said. "You two are too cute to leave with Snivillus."
"Is he always this much of a flirt?" Karen asked as Sera and Severus sat down.
"If you call that flirting," Sera said. "And the rich boy can only stay if he pays."
"That's fine," Sirius said.
"For all of us," Sera said. "Including Severus."
"... Fine," Sirius said.
The waiter came over and Sirius tired to order Fire Whiskey, but since he was only sixteen it was not allowed. So then they just ordered a round of Butterbeer, though Sera was worried about its affect on a muggle.
"Beef, Lamb and Guinness Stew," Sirius said.
"Specialty Chicken Sandwich," Karen said after looking at the menu for a moment.
"Toad in the Hole," Serafina and Severus said at the same time, and it made them both blush.
"Alright then," The waiter said and left them.
"So how does a Selwyn become related to a muggle?" Sirius asked. Sera glared at him. "Especially after the library incident, talking about muggles being dangerous. Though you are both lovely so it is believable. Oww!" Sirius glared at Severus.
"We are not really related," Karen said. "What happened?"
"Snivillus," Sirius said. "Jeez first that punch, my lip swelled up for a week and couldn't kiss anyone! Now you kick me." Sirius pouted at girls looking for sympathy.
"Did you hurt your foot?" Sera asked Severus. Both the boys were shocked at this.
"No," Severus said being honest.
"Good," Sera said. "I wouldn't want to have to curse dog boy infront of Karen."
"But it would be good time to try out curses from your new book," Severus said.
"Oh!" Sera said. "I never thought about that!"
"What new book?" Sirius asked.
"Should I tell him?" Sera asked with smirk to Severus.
"I would love to see his reaction," Severus said. Then the waiter brought over the Butterbeers.
"Magick Moste Evile by Godelot," Sera said once the waiter left. Sirius had been drinking some of his Butterbeer, and the book title caused him to spit it out.
"How?" Sirius asked. "What? That should not be possible. Your sixteen, too young for such a purchase."
"Not for a decendent of Vlad the Impaler," Severus said after a look from Sera.
"What?" Sirius asked again.
"I know that name," Karen said. "Doesn't he go along with the legends of vampires?"
"Legends?" Sirius said looking around the room. "There's two over their in that dark corner, with a Hag." Karen looked with wide eyes. "Sewlyn hasn't told her own sister about any of this?"
"Sera doesn't talk much about your world," Karen said.
"Why not?" Sirius asked. "You two are family right?"
"Sort of," Karen said. "The magical government of America placed her with us after her family... died." She changed the last word after a look from Sera.
"It's called the MACUSA," Sera said. "The Magical Congress of the United States of America."
"I heard they strictly limit and monitor wizard and muggle interactions," Sirius said. "My mother talks about, thinks its the best thing ever. But then how did you get placed with a muggle family."
"For-" Karen started.
"He does NOT need to know!" Sera stated. Karen looked at her oddly but shut up. That is when the waiter came over with their foods. "Leave it to dog boy to order the one thing that looks like dog food." Severus smirked.
"I'm sure Snivillus would love to know about your past too," Sirius said.
"I already know," Severus said.
"What!?" Sirius said. "Not fair!"
"Why are you so secretive to your friends?" Karen asked.
"Black is not my friend," Sera said. "And he is to rude to my actual friend."
Over the next twenty or so minutes they mostly ate in silence, there was the occasion stuff from Sirius. Apparently Sirius did not how to eat quietly, or just wanted to bother everyone else there. He also could not get over the fact that a Selwyn was being raised by muggle and would not tell him anything about why.
"Anyone up for dessert?" Sirius offered. "Since I am paying after all. The sticky toffee pudding is very good. And if you ladies need any help licking it off your lips I am here for you."
"I do not make out with boys I barely know," Karen said.
"Gross," Sera said. "I am not wasting my first kiss on a dog."
"Hey, I am the best kisser in all of Hogwarts," Sirius said. "Ask any of the girls."
"Why don't I ask Potter," Sera teased. "You two are so close I bet you two make out too." Sirius made a disgusted face.
"Why do you keep calling him a dog?" Karen asked.
"Because I am the dog star," Sirius said. "Sirius is the name of a star in the sky."
"More like because he's a dog with the females at school," Severus suggested.
"It's because he can turn into one," Sera said. Sirius choked on air.
"What are you talking about?" Sirius asked. Severus even looked confused.
"You turn into a large black dog," Sera said. "Like Pettigrew turn into a rodent, and Potter turns into a deer." Sirius stared at her wide eyed. "I like to stay in the background and just watching things. And judging by how much you try to deny this, you have not registered as an animangus."
"What do you want?' Sirius said dejectly.
"Fo you to leave me alone," Sera said. "Get your deer to leave Severus alone too. Don't tell anyone at school about my family. And actual be a brother for once in your life to Regulus."
"That's four things," Sirius said. "You only have three secrets."
"Regulus?" Karen asked.
"My little brother," Sirius said.
"Is he cute too?" Karen asked. Sirius just shrugged. "What does he look like?" Sirius looked like he could not answer the the question.
"Like a member of the Black family," Sirius said.
"Dog boy," Sera started. "Is Potter cute?"
"Of course he is!" Sirius said. "You should know you've seen him."
"Tell Karen," Sera said, testing him.
"He's awesome," Sirius said. "Round glasses, hazel eyes, the messiest head of black hair you have every seen." He continued with a full description. "Awesome right?"
"I see why Sera hates you," Karen said.
"What?!" Sirius asked surprised.
"I can understand not liking and even agreeing with your family," Karen said. "But you live with your little brother, but you dont even know what he looks like. Do you know anything about him?"
"He's a Slytherin, the worst house at Hogwarts," Sirius said. "And he wants to be a Death Eater, like our nutty cousin Bellatrix."
"Slytherin?" Karen asked. "Death Eater?"
"Wizards who want to kill muggles," Sirius said. "And Slytherin is one of the four houses, dormitries at school. Anyone who end up their turns evil."
"Liar!" Sera said.
"What do you mean sis?" Karen asked.
"I'm a Slytherin," Sera said. Karen's eyes widened. "And so is Severus. And we even had Merlin!"
"Merlin was real?" Karen asked. Sera, Severus and Sirius all nodded. "Wow."
"And he knows nothing about his little brother," Sera said. "They look like they could be near identical twins. Regulus just doesn't spend his time trying to flirt with every girl in the school. He actually sticks to himself a lot, unless hes at that meeting wiht Severus."
"He doesn't want to kill muggle," Severus said. " He wants to rule over them."
"Ohh okay," Karen said. "How is my sister knows more about your little brother then you do?" Sirius just shrugged. "I don't what is sadder, that you don't know your brother. Or that you just don't care."
"We are just two very different people," Sirius said. That's when the clock stuck two p.m. "It's that late already?"
"Who gets the bill?" The Waiter came over and asked. Karen, Sera, and Severus pointed to Sirius. So Sirius got up and went over to pay.
"Well, I need to go get what I came for," Severus said, though he was sad to be leaving Sera.
"I kind of feel bad," Sera said. "I dragged you my stores and now you have to go shopping alone."
"I don't mind waiting longer," Karen said. "Mom and dad wont be back till at least seven tonight." Sera looked at Severus.
"I don't mind you coming," Severus said, thought part of him want to jump for joy.
"Okay," Sera said as she and Severus stood. "I'll be back in a bit Karen."
Sera and Severus went back out to Diagon Alley, and headed into the Apothecary shop.
"Do you have enough ingredients?" Severus asked Sera. "For you summer homework?"
"I'm not sure if I am going to do my Potions homework," Sera said. "I do not believe I will get a good enough grade to continue on with Potions."
"I think you will," Severus said. "I am the one who helped right? So I should know."
"I dunno, but I hope you right," Sera said with a smile.
"You only need an E with Professor Slughorn anyway," Severus said. "And I will be in class with you. So I can help you even more."
"Thank you," Sera said.
"You better do you homework," Severus said.
"Heh, alright," Sera said. "Do you want to be teacher after you graduate?"
"No," Severus said. "I've actually never thought about it."
"You mean besides your D.E.T. mettings?" Sera said.
"Yea," Severus said.
Severus was now wondering how Sera really thought about the Death Eaters. He knew she wanted vengence against the muggle in America, who killed her parents. But that was different then dealing with regular muggles. Then he looked at that prices and realized he could not afford everything need, and just got the basic set so that he could at least do his homework.
"So if I have to do my Potions homework," Sera said. "Does that mean you will be willing to help me over the summer?" For a moment Severus lost his voice.
"If... if you would like me to," Severus finally said.
"Good," Sera said grabbing larger then just a basic set. "Just in case I have more accidents. Do you have an owl? Or well you dad is muggle right? Do you have a phone?"
"Neither," Severus said, but neglected to mention that his father was to poor as a muggle to have a home phone or any of those muggle things.
"Then I should get an owl," Sera said. "You wanna help me pick one out? Since you will be dealing with it too."
"Okay," Severus said and they both went to pay.
After that they headed to Eeylopes Owl Imporium, and looked at the many different owls. Strangely a lot of the owls did not like Severus, it looked like they would have to end up with one of the ones that bit him. Then towards the back there a small black barn owl all that was kept seperate from the other owls. It even looked like it had been beat up.
"Aww he's soo cute," Sera said to the owl.
"She," A employee said. "That barn own is a Female."
"Why is she over here by herself?" Severus said inching closer to her. The owl just stared at him.
"The other owls use to beat her up," The employee said. "She was rather small for a long time."
"Aww," Sera said. Then another employee bumped into the cage and it opened. The little black barn owl espcaped and fly around the store for a moment then landed on Severus's shoulder. Sera giggled as the owl just sat there, and petted the little owl. "I think she like's you."
"I guess so," Severus said.
"How much for her?" Sera asked.
"Well Barn Owls are 10 galleons," The employee said. "But this one, well she would be 7. And you should also know that she can not travel more then two hours. She is still rather young, so she wont be able to send letters home from Hogwarts just yet."
"That's alright," Sera said. "I just need to send letters to a friend that only lives about an hour way."
"Then that works," The employee said. Sera walked over to Severus and the owl, though she was really close to him.
"So what do you think?" Sera asked petting the owl some more. "You wanna come home with me and help me write to Severus here?" The owl hooted in excitement. "I guess that is a yes." Sera payed the shop employee and they got the owl back in the cage and headed out. "This was fun."
"Yea it was," Severus said.
"Well I'll send you the owl soon," Sera said.
"What are you going to name her?" Severus asked.
"Hmm," Sera said looking at her. "Europa. It's my favourite moon of Jupiter."
"Okay," Severus said. "See you later Sera, Europa." Then he stepped into the fireplace and flooed home. Neither his mother or father had noticed he had been gone for most of the day, infact that they seemed to be in same argument as when he left.
