"He knew we'd move more quickly if he took Kody," Harry said with a worried glance at his brother. "I'm quite sure we were seen visiting him, playing with him and his puppy when we had a few spare centons {minutes}. Truthfully, any child would have done it, but this one...we've become close to Kody. By taking him, he's assured in making us angry."
"Which he has," Roark growled, his fire simmering just beneath the surface, though he held tight control on it."
"It shows just how well you've managed to control your emotions that you're not outwardly showing it," Ethan told him, then grinned when he looked him him with simmering silver eyes. "Or, not much anyway."
"Hum..." was all he said in answer as they continued to walk, their senses active for unexpected visitors the closer they got to the warehouses. He stopped suddenly, his head turning. "Warehouse twelve."
"What about it?" came immediately from Charlie, who walked beside Dylan.
"Rodolphus and Rabastan aren't far from it." He looked toward the three warehouses close together, though eleven was set a little apart from the other two. "I think they're in eleven, twelve, or thirteen."
"Rory, do you think we could ever get you to return to Saggitara?" Dylan asked of him softly. Though he already knew the answer, he felt the need to ask anyway.
His head turned, eyes locking on him. "No, Dylan, not if I can help it. Activate your beacons," he told them. "Better to be safe than sorry. Once we reach the warehouses, we'll split up, do a perimeter sweep," he reached up to touch the communication device, switching it on. "Jordan? Tyler? Aiden? Roan?"
"Reading you clear," came Jordan's immediate response.
"Same here," Tyler said. "These things are great."
Chuckling sounded. "We're headed your way right now," Aiden told him.
"Where are they, Roark?" came from Greyson.
"They're in one of three warehouses. Eleven, twelve, or thirteen are grouped close together. We're nearly there ourselves. Once we are, we're going to split up, so a perimeter sweep of all three."
"Understood. Be careful, boys, Severus," Alexei ordered. "If I have to call Dad, Uncle Thorin or Dacian and tell them we've lost any of you, I will kick your asses."
"If we're dead, how will you kick our asses, Lex?" came Logan's amused question.
"Trust me on this, little brother, I'll find a way."
Deep chuckles from several sources. "Alright, that's enough, you two," Harry said, a chuckle of his own escaping, but then he sobered as his eyes narrowed on the three warehouses now within sight. "Okay, let's split up. Char, Dylan, you're with me and Roark. We'll head for eleven. Sev, Logan, Ethan, take twelve, Fi, Ki, Pay, take thirteen."
Nods all around as they split up, each moving in the direction of the warehouses, Harry, Roark, Charlie, and Dylan moving toward warehouse eleven. It was, however, the closer they came to eleven, the stronger the feeling that they were moving in the wrong direction came.
Suddenly, Roark stopped, the other three stopping with him. "Rory?" Charlie asked softly.
"They're not in eleven," he told them. "The further away from thirteen we get, the more intense the feeling that we're moving in the wrong direction, gets."
"Hum..." came from Harry. "Come on, then, let's head back."
They turned, heading back the way they had come. It was just as they neared both twelve and thirteen that the sound of laser fire reached their ears. Looking at each other, they drew their own lasers, Charlie nodding to the alleyway to their left.
"We'll move around this side between the buildings to get us to the front," he told them quietly.
Moving into the alleyway, Harry and Roark on the left side, Charlie and Dylan on the right, they moved toward the forward. They soon found themselves in a small enclosed area that was obviously a break area. Harry pointed to the archway, and they moved to it quickly, but silently, using the bushes to cover them.
"Captured," Roark breathed, as they looked over the bushes. "Looks like Ki and Payton are wounded."
"We're nearly there," Jordan told them. "Do NOT move in without us."
"We won--" that was when Roark felt it. It was a very dark, very cold, absolutely MENACING presence behind them. He was up and and turning before anyone else could move, his laser up, pointed, as the other three turned.
"Well, how about this?" he murmured. "I do believe we are finally meeting Tom Riddle, no introductions needed. OH! Hey, that cackling harridan at his side must be Bellatrix."
"Well, she certainly looks and ACTS the park of a crazy bitch," Harry spoke up. "Rodolphus married her...why?"
"Well, well, well," came his voice, "what do we have here? Lt.'s Hadrian and Roark Peverell Potter, I do believe?" Tom Riddle stared at the two menacingly. "And you two would be...?"
"Captain Charles Weasley."
"Lieutenant Dylan Durin."
As the two introduced themselves, Roark glanced over at his brother as he felt his anger spike, then his gaze returned to Riddle. He was a tall, very thin man, his eyes an icy ruby red. His hair, for the most part, was black, except for the white at his temples, and interspersed throughout the black. His skin also did not look well at ALL, being very pale, with very light tinges of yellow. As he studied him, he relayed his observations to the others.
"Hum...sounds like his liver may be playing out on him, though the red eyes...probably from his prolific use of the black arts," Sebastien said softly in his ear.
Roark's eyes lifted to the men now moving in to surround Riddle, none of whom any of them recognized. Then he saw Rodolphus as he and Rabastan moved up behind and just to the left and right of Tom Riddle, their faces completely free of expression, though he and Harry caught the so very brief smirks.
"Bellatrix, do stop that cackling and stand still for Kobol's sake," Rodolphus growled at his wife, throwing a glare at her.
Roark looked over at Harry, then to Dylan and Charlie. Without words needing to be spoken the four holstered their weapons, turning to see that Severus and the others had silently joined them. Severus was examining Payton's side and Kili's shoulder.
"Severus?" he asked as he placed bandages on both the wounds.
"Just grazes," he answered with a glance at each of them, finishing up with Kili's shoulder, he then moved to them, drawing Riddle's eyes, smirking when they widened upon seeing him. "Well, Tom, I'd say it was nice to see you again, but I think we both know I would be lying."
"Severus," he said, anger sparking when he saw the uniform he wore, even though he had known. "When did you become a Counter-Intelligence Officer?"
"I've ALWAYS been a Counter-Intelligence Officer. Even then, we were trying to find a way to take care of you. Wily little bastard that you are, you slipped our net."
Fury lit his eyes as they narrowed on him. "You were an undercover officer."
"Undercover specialist. Boys?"
Harry bumped his shoulder against Roark's, a slow smile now beginning to twist his lips as Riddle's fury began to intensify, his face growing red. "I do believe, little brother, that we may just be in a spot of trouble."
That earned him several snorts of amusement. "A bit of an understatement, don't you think, Harry?" Charlie asked.
"Now why would you both say that? Looks like a normal day to me. Ki?" he asked, glancing over at him.
"Oh, I'm fine," he grumbled. "Dad's going to have a conniption though. Wounded twice in less than a couple of sectar's {months}. Same damn shoulder too."
"Payton?"
"Nothing too awful bad. Caught me in the side just above the hip. Stings like a bitch, but I've been wounded worse than this. Besides, by the looks of Riddle there," a nod toward where Tom Riddle was glowering at them. "It's not going to matter much. If looks alone could kill, we would have all been dead the moment he appeared."
"That bastard lays a hand on any of you," came the growled words in their ears, "he's going to wish he was the one who was dead."
"We need him alive, Lex."
"I said nothing about killing him, Aid, just that he would WISH he were dead."
"No torturing him either," came Jordan's laughter-tinged voice, nearly making them all laugh.
"Roan's on his way with the reinforcements. Be advised. He reports that Ardyn did not respond to the call to report in. He has, in fact, disappeared."
Harry nearly snorted his derision, but he managed to control himself as he looked at Riddle with narrowed emerald eyes. "Of course he has," he murmured. "He's either gone into hiding, or he's on his way here."
"If he does show here, we will deal with him the same way we deal with all traitors," he said. "As for the way he's looking at us...You may be right, Pay, but I have no intention of letting him have his way. Not now. Not ever." He arched a brow, looking at the man in question. "Well, then, Riddle. It is, apparently, your play. What is your next move going to be?"
