"I see that Rodolphus and Rabastan were right about you Peverell Potter boys," he said in an oddly...curious tone, looking from one to the other. "You are two very cool customers, aren't you? But this is hardly a game, boy."
Roark's eyes immediately sparked with fire. "Number one, Riddle, NOT a boy. Two, we are Counter-Intelligence Officers. There is no other way for us to be, and no, this is DEFINITELY not a game. It has NEVER been a game, nor did I ever say that it was."
His tone had Riddle's brow arching. "Actions speak louder than words, and your actions...Ah well, no matter. Shall we go inside?" Riddle turned to the side, hand held out for them to proceed him into Warehouse thirteen.
Once inside, they saw Kody immediately, tear tracks on his cheeks and two VERY big men standing guard behind him, one of them had a hand on his shoulder. As soon as Kody saw Roark and Harry, he turned, drew his foot back, and gave the man holding him a mighty kick to the shin. The man swore sharply, releasing him.
"You...little...BRAT!" the man growled as Kody made a run for the safety that was Harry, Roark, and the other Counter-Intelligence Officers with them. Roark caught him against him, hugging him to his side as Riddle suddenly let loose a bellow of laughter.
"Well, he's got spunk, I'll say that for him," he said once he was back under control, though he still chuckled. "Rogner, DO stop dancing around. You're acting like he broke your leg."
"Are you alright, Kody?" Roark asked softly as Riddle scolded his man, Severus, and the others moving to surround them. Severus immediately kneeled to check him for any injuries. "You're not hurt?"
Trying to put on a brave face, he looked up at him with tear-bright aquamarine eyes. "I'm okay, Mr. Roark, but she," he pointed to Bellatrix, "killed my puppy. I'm tired, too. Thirsty, and a little hungry. I want to go home to Mama."
"I'm sure you do, Kody," Harry told him, giving him a reassuring smile, "and you will be doing just that very soon. I promise. We'll also see about getting you a new puppy. Now, I want you to do me a favor. Go stand with Severus and the Durins while Roark and I deal with this vile...thing. We would rather you not be in the line of fire if it can be helped."
Kody gave a nod, leaving Roark's embrace to go into Severus'. A father himself, he hated seeing the fear that was in Kody's eyes. the tear tracks on his dirty face. Reaching down, he drew a small bottle from his belt along with a square cotton cloth from his medical bag at his side.
Wetting the cloth, he then passed the bottle to him. "There's not much in there, but it should be enough to sate your thirst until we can get you home," he told him gently, beginning to clean his face.
Kody looked around him at the other Officers, drinking from the bottle, surprised that the water in it was still cold. "I recognize you," he said as his eyes stopped. "You were with Mr. Roark the first time I ran into him."
Payton smiled. "That I was. What a good memory you have, Kody. I'm Lt. Payton Durin. This one here is one of my elder brothers, Captain Ethan, and that one there is one of my younger brothers, Lt. Logan. These two here," he pointed a finger at the two just to his right, "are my cousins, Captain Fili and Lt. Kili, then finally, we have another brother, Lt. Dylan, and his partner, Captain Charlie Weasley."
"Hello, Kody," Charlie stepped forward with a smile, "it's a pleasure to finally meet you. Now, we are going to be protecting you while Roark and Harry deal with Riddle. Would that be alright with you?"
Yes, but Mr. Payton and Mr. Kili are hurt," he said as he looked at them.
"Don't you worry about these little scratches. As soon as we're out of this mess, Severus, and another of Payton's brothers, Doctor-Major Sebastien will fix us right up."
"Just how many brothers do you have?" came the curious question as he looked up at Payton, letting them lead him a few steps away.
A chuckle. "In total, I have fifteen brothers, but there are two sets of twins and a set of triplets. I also have lots of cousins. Dad had three brothers, and each of them had children."
"Wow," he said, and being careful not to hurt his injured side, he hugged him. "I wish I had a brother...and cousins too so I had someone to play with."
"Alright, I think that will be quite enough. Let's not go making that boy any promises you won't be able to keep," Riddle suddenly interrupted them angrily. "You have all, especially the two of you," a furious glare at Harry and Roark, "caused me no end of trouble, damage, AND money. As soon as I take care of you, things can get back to normal around here."
"Now THAT, Riddle, would be where you are wrong. You may have captured us, but there are more Counter-Intelligence Officers out there, as well as a full detachment from the Garrison."
A wave of his hand. "I'm not worried about that, as I am sure they will all be dealt with eventually," he turned his head. "Isn't that right, Rodolphus?" his head turned. "Rabastan?"
"Of course, Tom," they said as one, their tones bitterly cold.
Roark very nearly smiled, hearing the slight edge of disgust in both their tones, even if no one else did. "Think you're that good, do you, Rodolphus? Tell me, has no one told you, Terminator, that there is a match out there for all of us? Eventually, you and your brother will meet yours," a sudden grin, "if, that is, you haven't already."
Amusement flickered briefly through the Lestrange brother's eyes, though thankfully, no one on Tom Riddle's side saw that, but that was only because none of them were looking at them. They were trusted implicitly. THAT was their first mistake, and very probably their last.
"Indeed, Peverell Potter," he snapped as Bellatrix suddenly frowned, her dark eyes narrowing on him as he began to move, crossing the stone floor toward Roark. "But not today, and certainly not you, Lieutenant."
"As if the pair of you could EVER be a match for us," Rabastan growled at them with a glare.
"Oh...I don't know. I thought we made a pretty good match over the last yahren {year}. We managed to keep up with the two of you rather nicely, wouldn't you say?"
Sneers, or so it looked like, from them. "Not nearly as well as you seem to think," came his quickly snarled response.
"Oh dear, it seems you have gone and annoyed them. Not a good idea to annoy the Lestrange's. They tend to get very...deadly."
Arched brows. "REALLY?" came together.
"They're already deadly, so it hardly matters, now does it? I guess we can die happy to have provoked SOME kind of reaction from them, even if it IS only annoyance," Roark said, a grin on his lips as he looked up at Rodolphus.
"You aren't going to be grinning for long, Peverell Potter," came his deep growl as he reached his side, his thoughts and feelings not nearly as well hidden as he seemed to think they were. Both Kili and Ethan suddenly frowned, worried expressions surfacing in their eyes. "You, Lieutenant, are about to die a very painful death," he told him, noticing the looks from both Ethan and Kili as he pulled Roark's pistol from his belt, sliding it into his own.
Rabastan having reached Harry's side, drew his own laser from his belt. "Are you ready to die, Hadrian Peverell Potter?"
