Chapter 11: Secrets Are Not Meant to Be Kept
“I can’t believe he did that. Remus Lupin, Professor of Hogwarts high, gave Draco Malfoy, prince of the Slytherins, the sex talk. That’s just hilarious,” laughed Tom, sitting on one of the couches in Draco’s bedroom.
It was the day after Harry’s party and Tom and Draco were in the blonde’s room, waiting for the rest of their Slytherin friends to arrive. While waiting, Draco had told Tom about his encounter with Professor Lupin, and he regretted it almost immediately.
“And it wasn’t only him either,” said Draco as he sat on one of the other couches in a graceful slouch. “Professor Black was there as well.”
“I didn’t know Professor Black came to the party.”
“Yeah well… You wouldn’t, seeing how you suddenly disappeared half way through the party. Where did you go anyway?”
“That doesn’t really matter,” said Tom evasively, causing Draco to raise an eyebrow questioningly. “Continue with the story.”
“Well after Professor Lupin finished talking about what to do if I ever slept with Harry, Professor Black started telling me that if I valued my life, I will never sleep with Harry.”
“Lovely pair those two,” Tom laughed.
“Very lovely…,” Draco said sarcastically. “I’m only glad that Harry’s parents decided to go to the amusement park or I would have had to deal with them as well.”
“Well … at least you’re half way through. So I guess this means you haven’t gotten Harry in bed yet.”
“I told you already. It’s not about sex with Harry. I mean, the most we’ve ever done was kiss.”
“Are you all right Draco?” Tom asked worriedly. “It used to always be about sex with you. Usually you see something you want, you take it, fuck it and then throw it away. Like Pansy for example.”
“I told you, it’s different with Harry. He’s…”
“Special, I know,” Tom rolled his eyes.
“It’s like when I’m around him, I have this sudden urge to make him feel happy. Do you know what I mean?”
“No, I don’t know,” Tom said truthfully, though playfully. “Explain this happy feeling thing, of which you speak of, to me.”
“Don’t mock me Tom,” the blonde said, suddenly feeling very tired with their conversation.
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” smiled Tom as he received a glare from Draco. “So are you going to tell me why you’ve called me here?”
“I want you to help me get the other Slytherins to behave around the Gryffindors,” Draco said, choosing to get right to the point.
“That’s a lot to ask for,” Tom said thoughtfully. “And it’s going to take a lot of convincing to get them to bite their tongues when around the Gryffindors.”
“Not when I’m the one doing the convincing,” Draco smirked. “Besides, if it’s what Harry wants, then I’ll do all I can to make it happen,” he said before getting up from his seat.
“Wow, I’ve never known you to be so … generous … so considerate to someone else,” said Tom as he watched Draco walk over to the door. “It’s kind of … disturbing,” he admitted, watching as Draco’s hand touched the doorknob.
Suddenly Draco pulled open the door and reached outside. A second later, Draco’s hand came back pulling Molly Green into his room. Then he closed the door and slammed her against it.
“How much did you hear?” Draco asked.
“Enough,” smiled Molly and Draco glared at her. “Oh don’t worry. I’m not going to tell anyone if you don’t want me to.”
“It doesn’t really matter. I plan on telling the rest of the Slytherins when they get here,” said Draco as he let go of Molly.
Molly followed him to the couches as she continued talking to him. “So how long have you two been snogging?”
“Only a week…”
“I find this all very odd. Don’t you Tom?” Molly asked as she sat down beside the aforementioned brunette. “Draco Malfoy has fallen in love. I didn’t think it would ever happen. Actually, I didn’t think it could happen. But I can’t say that I’m surprised in the least that it was Harry who finally warmed up that cold heart of yours, Draco. He is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve noticed some of the girls staring at him … and some of the guys as well. Like this one day at lunch, I noticed Seamus Finnigan drooling all over him. Seamus looked like he was ready to jump Harry’s bones right then and there. Of course, I can’t say that I blame him,” she said in a rush, never even noticing Draco’s narrowed eyes at the mention of the Irish boy. “Oh my god,” she suddenly laughed. “Pansy will freak when she finds out she’s lost you for good. She’ll probably do something really nasty to Harry for taking you away from her.”
“If she does … or even thinks of hurting Harry, in anyway, she’ll regret it for the rest of her life,” Draco said calmly.
“You know you’re kind of sexy when you’re being over protective,” Molly smiled.
Draco and Tom rolled their eyes. The three of them sat on the couch, Draco and Tom silent while Molly never stopped talking, waiting for the rest of the Slytherins to arrive. After a few minutes of waiting - though to Draco and Tom it seemed like much more - someone knocked on the door. Draco got up from the couch again and opened the door to find Pansy smiling at him.
“Hey Dray,” said Pansy as she batted her eyes in a vain attempt to look alluring.
“I told you not to call me that,” said Draco as he walked away from Pansy. “It’s bloody annoying.”
“Dray… Why don’t you ever come over to the house anymore? I’ve missed you these past two weeks,” Pansy asked, ignoring Draco’s warning.
“I’ve been busy,” he said as he sat down on the couch.
“I hope not with that … Potter kid,” Pansy said suspiciously as she sat down beside him and wrapped her arm around his. “Why don’t you just let someone else deal with him so we can spend more time together, like we used to?”
“Woman, get her arm off of me,” the blonde said in warning.
“See that’s what you get when you bottle up all of that sexual energy,” said Molly as she smiled at Draco.
Draco just glared at her.
“She’s right you know,” Pansy whispered seductively into Draco’s ear. “Why don’t you send these two away, Draco, so we can have some time alone together?”
“Pansy, you little tramp,” laughed Tom. “You’re worse than Molly.”
“Hey!” Molly exclaimed.
“Sorry Molly dear. No one is worse than you,” Tom corrected.
“That’s right,” the girl said proudly, not once taking Tom’s words as an insult. “And don’t you forget it.”
Suddenly, there came another knock on the door.
“Pansy, get the door,” ordered Draco.
The aforementioned slutty girl - though not as slutty as Molly - pouted, but did as she was told. She reluctantly got up from the couch and opened the door to find Blaise Zabini, Theodore Nott, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle on the other side. After the four newcomers walked inside the room, Pansy closed the door, walked over to the couches and sat back down beside Draco, who stood up from the couch almost immediately.
“Okay, now that we’re all here, I want to talk to you guys about something,” said Draco as all of his friends were seated, with him and Tom being the only ones standing. “Now before I begin I want to make it clear that what I’m about to say is not a suggestion or a request. It is an order, do you understand?”
“Well what makes you think that we should obey whatever this order is?” Nott asked.
“Because you know if you don’t, I can make your lives a living hell.”
“What do you want us to do?” Crabbe asked, knowing he would do whatever his leader wanted.
“I want you to behave around the Gryffindors. That is to say I don’t want there to be any more stupid pranks, vengeance or any kind of hostility towards them of any kind from now on.”
A few seconds of silence followed Draco’s words before everyone started talking at once.
“Why not…?” Pansy asked.
“You must be joking!” Blaise exclaimed at the same time.
“Because I said so and I mean every word of it,” said Draco, looking coolly at each of them as he spoke.
“Why do we have to be nice to the Gryffindors?”
“Because of Harry, that’s why?” Molly answered for Draco.
“Harry Potter? What does he have to do with any of this?” Pansy asked.
“Draco fancy’s him of course,” Molly said, rolling her eyes as if everyone should have known this already.
“Molly, you’re totally out of your mind,” Pansy laughed. “Draco would never -”
“She’s right Parkinson,” said Draco, making Pansy snap her head towards Draco.
“What?” Pansy yelled, standing up as she looked at Draco in shock.
“Sit down Parkinson,” Draco said firmly.
Draco watched as Pansy immediately sat down. However, her eyes were wide and her mouth kept opening and closing - like she had suddenly turned into a fish - as she looked at Draco in horror. A few seconds later though, Pansy finally closed her mouth and her eyes went back to normal.
“So you mean we have to be nice to the Gryffindors just so you can shag Potter?” Pansy asked, figuring that was the only explanation.
“Don’t be so daft Pans,” said Molly. “Draco’s not in it for the sex. He’s in love.”
“Molly, don’t be so ridiculous,” laughed Pansy. “Draco would never fall for Potter. He’s too much of a goody-two-shoe for Draco’s tastes … and naïve. He thinks he can get two groups - who have been at each other’s throats since before we were even born - to suddenly just kiss and make up. He thinks we’ll suddenly become friends just because he wants it that way…”
Pansy would have continued talking if Draco hadn’t wrapped his fingers around her throat and started choking her.
“If Harry wants the Slytherins and the Gryffindors to get along then I will personally do everything in my power to make sure that it happens. Now, are you going to get on my bad side and cause trouble or are you going to play nice?” The blonde asked, his fingers tightening ever so slightly.
“Play nice,” Pansy choked out after a while.
“And what about the rest of you…?” Draco asked as he turned to his other friends, without taking his grip from Pansy’s throat.
After everyone agreed to behave, Draco loosened his grip on Pansy’s throat and dropped his hand to his side as he walked away from her.
“Good. Tell Millicent and the others about this as well. And make sure to tell them what would happen if they don’t cooperate,” he said, his eyes glancing at Pansy - who was rubbing her throat - before they traveled to everyone else.
“What about the Gryffindors though?” Blaise asked. “Will they behave around us?”
“Well they should,” said Theodore. “I mean, we’re the ones who usually cause trouble for them, not the other way around,” he said reasonably.
“Usually, but what about the Weasley twins…?” Blaise pointed out. “They’re always playing pranks on us.”
“And everyone else in the school,” Molly pointed out.
“All the same… Do you really expect us to stand by while we become the butt of one of their jokes?”
“Don’t worry about them,” said Draco. “Weasley said he would talk to the Gryffindors, especially his brothers.”
“Awe,” cooed Molly. “Harry must be a lucky guy to have you doing all of this for him.”
“Very lucky,” mumbled Pansy glumly, still rubbing lightly at her sore throat.

“Okay you guys settle down, settle down,” said Ron as he sat in Harry’s living room, trying to get his friends to calm down after talking to them about calling a permanent truce between them and the Slytherins.
“You can’t possibly expect us to be nice to those slimy scheming scum,” said Seamus, a little agitated.
“We can and you will,” said Hermione firmly. “Listen you guys, this feud has been going on long enough and it’s about time we put an end to it. Last night’s party proved to us that things have got to change, and they’ve got to change right now.”
“And why must we be the ones to change it? It’s not like we ever start half of the things that go on between Gryffindors and Slytherins. Why should we submit when they’re the ones causing the problems?”
“Yeah,” most of the Gryffindors said.
“It’s not like that,” said Ron. “I’ve talked to Malfoy and he assures me that he’ll talk to the Slytherins today about calling a truce.”
“And what makes you think you can trust him?” Seamus asked. “What possible reason could he have for calling this truce between our two groups?”
“Because he and Harry are dating,” said Sammy.
“You have got to be kidding,” said Lavender.
“You’re lying,” said Seamus.
“I knew it,” said Dean. “I knew there was something going on between you two,” he said to Harry, whose face had turned two shades redder.
“It’ll never last,” Neville said so softly that everyone almost missed what he said.
“It speaks,” said Ron, causing Hermione to slap him on the arm. “I think that’s the first time you’ve spoken since Harry moved here. Congratulations,” he teased, resulting in another slap from Hermione.
“A relationship between Gryffindor and Slytherin will never last. Our two groups are just two different to be friends,” Neville continued softly. “Let alone start a relationship. Malfoy will probably leave you once he gets what he wants from you,” he said to Harry.
“And what exactly is that supposed to mean?” Sammy asked, getting a little angry.
“It means that in all of the years that I’ve know him,” Neville said to Sammy, “Malfoy has never shown one piece of evidence that he cares about anyone besides himself. And if you’d known him as long as we have, you’d know that as well.”
“People can change,” Harry insisted.
“Not Malfoy,” said Seamus. “He will always be the same scheming conniving bastard he’s always been. And tell me, Ron … would you actually be willing to bury the hatchet with Malfoy, even after what he did to you last year?”
“What happened last year?” Harry asked curiously.
“While our grade was at the zoo, studying animals, Malfoy had this brilliant idea to set all of the animals free. Then, to make matters worse, Crabbe and Goyle held onto Ron so Draco could put a weasel down his shirt. Of course no bad deed goes unpunished. While laughing at Ron squirming around and trying to get the weasel out of his shirt, one of the ferrets decided to crawl up one of Draco’s pant legs. And he deserved it too, the slimy git.”
Harry sat there for a while, absorbing this new bit of information. ‘He lied to me,’ thought Harry.

A/N: Just a reminder that this will be the last chapter for a while. But when I’m done my other story, I’ll come right back and finish this one.
