Chapter Eleven: Names and More Names
Hermione opened a large book of names and looked over them. She didn’t want to give her children stupid names, or names in which that they would be made fun of. She also didn’t want her children named after the founders. Her husband entered wearing his Deatheater robes and she knew that he had been summoned.
“ Don’t be gone to long,” Hermione said.
“ I promise.” And he left.
“ SEVERUS,” yelled Alister. He groaned as he turned around.
“ Glad I caught you before you left,” he told him. “ I was wondering what your planning to do once your children are born?”
“ Oh yesss Alister,” he hissed. “ I plan to kill those that invented that stupid law.” Alister looked at him, but knew that he was joking.
“ Well just as long as you don’t use an unforgivable,” he pointed out. “ Anyway I want to give you advice on what will happen once they come into the world.” Severus didn’t want any more advice. He had already gotten it from the dark lord and from the Professors. He didn’t need it from an Auror. Of course he wouldn’t let him go until he spoke his mind.
“ Now they need love, support, and this.” He pulled out a small phoenix.
“ What in the name of the gods is this?” Severus asked.
“ Oh a little something that I’m giving your wife. You see you say something and then pressing it, it makes a sound and repeats what you just said.”
“ Oh the joy of self-talking toys,” said Severus sarcastically. “ Look just give it to her because I really need to get going.”
“ No problem.” And both men went their separate ways. The Deatheaters meeting addressed the soon-to-be birth of Hermione’s three children. A Deatheater that had just joined said thay chy child born from their union would be very powerful.
“ Good and a good member to my group,” Voldemort pointed out. “ Now I want you to teach them as soon as they can talk about what I expect. I want them to be just like you.”
Severus nodded and then he was allowed t. Wh. When Severus returned he reported what Voldemort wanted. Dumbledore half expected this.
“ He loves powerful people,” Dumbledore to him. “ However I have a feeling that he won’t live to see that day. However we have along way to go before the birth, which according to Madam Pomfrey will be in the middle of May.”
“ So what do you want me to do?”
“ Pretend that your following his orders, but inform Hermione so that she can inform her friends. We also must keep these three safe. They are in grave danger.”
“ Of course.” And he turned and left. As he promised he told Hermione what Voldemort wanted. She was horrified and then she cried. He wrapped his arms around her and let her cry in his shoulder. He hated it when she cried and he vowed that he wouldn’t let anything happen to their children. He loved this women and he loved his children.
In the middle of November her and her friends celebrated the three-month anniversary of not only the Snape’s marriage, but also the fact, as Ron put it, that she only had to carry the babies for six more months.
“ Thanks for the encouragement,” muttered Hermione. The next day it was back to work and Severus noticed that even though she was expecting she didn’t allow that to interfere with her schooling and he made sure that she had all the extra Potion lessons that she wanted. Professor Flitwick charmed her bag so that it would be as light as a feather.
“ Thanks,” Hermione muttered. December started with Hermione signing up to stay over the holidays. She wasn’t prepared to see her parents in the state that she was in. She didn’t think that she could stomach their reaction to the whole thing. During the last Potions lesson of the term Professor Snape told them all that starting in January they would be learning how to brew the Polyjuice Potion. Everyone, but Harry and Hermione were looking forward to this.
Soon the castle was empty, with the exception of the few students that chose to stay behind. Hermione was still thinking about baby names with five more months to go, until all of that would matter.
“ How about Charlie,” Hermione suggested. Severus was looking at his newspaper, but lowered it at the name.
“ There is no way that any of my children will be named after a Weasley and don’t you dare say that wantwant to name him Percy. Percy has a bigger head then Potter does.”
Hermione scowled at him, but then returned to her book. Soon however there was a knock on the door and when Severus went to answer it he saw Harry and Ron on the other side.
“ Saw Hermione from Gryffindor tower and wondered if she could spend time with us,” Harry said. Severus sneered at him, but Hermione abandoned her book and went to join them.
“ Don’t worry,” she told him. “ Why don’t you ophe bhe book and see what names you want.” And she left.
When the door closed he went over to the book and opened it. He looked over names and their meanings and soon the door re-opened and his wife re-entered.
“ I thought you wanted to spend time with your friends!” He said. She looked at him.
“ Severus I’ve been gone for four hours.” He looked at her and decided to close the book. When December came around she had to abandon her shoes and where ones that had been enchanted so that she could wear. She spent more time in the bathroom then in lessons and the only way that she could keep ahead of her studies was if they were brought down for her.
Professor McGonagall came around as usual and students who wanted to stay at Hogwarts for the winter break were allowed to. Hermione still couldn’t face her parents so she signed up to stay. Harry decided that it was time to talk to her.
“ Hermione your going to have to write to them,” he told her. “ You have to tell them.” Hermione bit her lip as though trying not to say anything.
“ I know,” she finally answered after a short silence. “ But I don’t know how they’ll react. My father hates changes. I was surprise that he had even allowed me to coere ere in the first place.”
Harry put his hand over hers and looked at her. She knew that he was trying to talk some sense into her, but so far he didn’t know if it was working.
“ Hermione just write to them and see what happens,” he suggested. She knew that he wouldn’t leave her alone until she did it. So she told him that she would and he finally got up and left. Hermione sat down and taking out a piece of parchment she started to write.
Dear Mum and Dad,
I hoped that this letter finds you both in good health. If you don’t know yet, the Ministry has made a law that states that Muggle-born witches must marry a pure-blood wizard. I’ve married Professor Snape and were expecting three children in the middle of May. I’m writing to you hoping that you will wish me all the luck in the world.
Sincerely,
Hermione Snape.
She waited for the parchment to dry and when it did, she gave it to her husband’s owl, Godric and it flew away.
