Reunited
The wait
The three days passed and the full moon approached. Remus fled to his shack and locked himself inside. Painfully, he changed into the werewolf and tore his way out of the confined area into the woods. The moon didn’t seem the same though. He looked to his side, expecting to find Padfoot at his side. There was no Padfoot though. Whimpering, he curled up in a ball on the rock he and the dog had always met on and cried. Not once did he howl to the moon. He rarely moved. The only movements he made were purely for food or water. Even then, he hunted only for small mice. The stream wasn’t too far away, so that wasn’t much movement at all. He just didn’t feel right.
Sirius’ time wasn’t all that pleasant either. He found himself turning into Padfoot at night unconsciously. He sulked around Remus’ mansion after the full moon came up. He really couldn’t stay that long at Harry’s. He didn’t have any willpower left to keep back his anger. He didn’t want to have to yell at his godson for being a hormonal teen. He couldn’t keep Remus from being as delectable as he was. The man was sexy.
Sirius had his own battles with himself to figure out. He still hadn’t decided whether or not he would return to the werewolf’s arms. He drew out lists of the good and bad, but they never ended up conclusive. He spent most of his day thinking about him, never coming to a conclusion.
The week had passed. Sirius had left the mansion the day before and stayed in a nearby hotel room. He still didn’t answer himself on whether or not he would return. He decided that if he left before sunset, he would go back to him. He would let his heart lead him.
Tired, sore, and hungry, Remus returned home. He didn’t sleep or eat the entire time though. He sat in his bay window of his living room and watched the driveway, hoping to see Sirius walk up it. He stayed there until sunset without seeing anyone pass by or walk up his drive way. Tears flooded his eyes as he pulled the thick curtains shut, blocking the purple, red, orange, and pink sun ray from entering his house. Never would he be able to watch another sunset.
He curled up on his bed, crying out loud. He had ruined his entire life with the only person he had ever truly loved. He buried his face in his hands and cried.
"Am I too late?" a low voice came from near the doorway of Remus’ room.
Remus lifted his head from his hands. Sirius was standing in his doorway, his eyes teary as well.
"I didn’t think that you were coming back," Remus whimpered as he sat up on his bed, wiping tears from his eyes.
"Remus," Sirius slowly made his way to the bed and sat next to Remus. "How could I ever leave the love of my life?" He wrapped his arms around Remus and pulled him into a tight embrace.
Remus buried his face in the crook of Sirius’ neck and cried, his arms wrapping around his waist and hold him as close as possible. He could hear Sirius crying as well. He knew that his one and only love was there to stay with him.
