Chapter 11 A Familiar Feeling
When she did not respond to his order, he placed his fingers under her chin and tilted her face. Her eyes were closed, but he could see the tears still leaking from their corners. She did not look scared. She looked defeated.
“Sky, look at me.” He told her more gently. “Open your eyes.”
Her eyes opened but they did not meet his. But he could feel her emotions; the hurt, the despair, they were the strongest.
“It was you at my bedside. You came and removed the curse. Why? You knew there was a good chance you would be caught but you still came?
Tell me why you did that.”
“You were hurt, in pain. I could stop it, so I did. Just as you healed me. Why did you do it?”
“I had no choice in the matter. I was sent to find you and bring you back here. I could hardly hand a corpse over to the Headmaster.”
“Maybe it would’ve been better if you had.” She told him.
She meant it. If he’d just left her in that place a little while longer, none of this would have happened. She loved Rowena, Sal and Helga. Godric seemed nice too, though she didn’t really know him yet. But she only had a couple of months left with Helga and then six to do with Godric. ‘Then what? Would she be on her own again? They taught her so much, but what was she meant to do with all she’d learned?’ And tonight, Shannon made her come out in the snow wearing next to nothing and lay on a stone slab while that … thing ogled her. It was going to … She shuddered. It didn’t bear thinking about what might have happened.
When she shuddered, Severus assumed she was cold. He removed his cloak and wrapped it around her.
“Why are you out here at this time of night with no shoes and your robes torn?”
“Shannon, she made me. But the thing came and it had a huge … then it went and Shannon left me. Now you’re here so why don’t you just do what your going to do and let me go. Please, just get it over with.”
His jaw dropped at her words. She had just offered herself to him, literally. So why could he not take her? Even out here in the snow, she would let him. But now, he could not bring himself to do so.
“I have come to take you back with me.”
“No. Not there. I can’t go back there.”
“You can and you will. It would appear the hat was mistaken. The headmaster would like you to come back.”
“No.”
Sky was starting to fight back. She would put up with anything but she would not go back in that castle. She had been humiliated, rejected, thrown out like a piece of dirt on the word of an old tatty hat.
“No. Wont go. Never.” Her words became stilted and broken as she became agitated. “Not in there. Bad place. Bad people. Hate Sky. You hate Sky. Say Sky, stupid, evil. Every day you tell I; Not wanted, burden, detest Sky. You do nice thing then hurt Sky. Say Sky’s fault. Never say what I do. Never tell. You hurt Sky here.” She slapped the palm of her hand against her chest. Each time you say bad, you hurt Sky. No more. Sky not evil. Sky got family now. Stay with family.”
“You have family, where? Where have you been staying?”
“Wall. My wall. My house. Sal and Rowena and Helga my family. Soon Godric family too. No Headmaster. Sal teach me. Say you ‘pain in the arse’. Teach me potions. Say I better then you. And Dark Arts. Rowena say you bad man. Do bad things to Sky. Try put thing in me. Well Sky adult now. Eighteen. I stay here.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Severus was so shocked at her outburst, he said and did nothing as she pushed past him and disappeared into the wall. He tried to follow, but there was nothing but blank wall in front of him.
“SKY.” He shouted. “SKY, COME OUT.”
He knew she would not come. He had not even been going to do anything to her. Something in him made him want to protect her now.
“Fuck!” He trudged back to the gates and realised she still had his cloak.
‘How the hell do I explain this one to Albus? And what had she meant Sal, Rowena, Godric and Helga. Shit. The Founders.’ He took the grounds at a run and went straight up to Albus’ office. He banged on the door until the old man got out of bed and opened it. Barging straight in with out waiting for an invitation, Severus spewed forth his story.
“She lives in the bloody wall, Albus. Actually in it. She’s been here all the time.”
“So that is why she always disappeared in the same place. But why can we not find a way in?”
“I don’t know but there’s more. She told me she has family in there. Guess who it is, Albus. Go on, guess.”
“Severus, it is one thirty in the morning. I do not feel like playing games.”
“Just bloody guess will you.” The Potion Master shouted.
“”It could be Merlin for all I know. Can you not just tell me?”
“The Founders. She’s living with the schools bloody Founders. She told me. Sal, Rowena, Helga, Godric. She called them her family. I have never told her the first names of our Founders. Have you?”
“No. But one of the others may have. She could be making it up.”
“No Albus. I know she was telling the truth. Do not ask me how, I just do. They’ve been giving her lessons too. She‘s been having lessons from the Founders of this school for almost a year and a half.”
“Severus, I am curious. How do you know all this?”
“I found her. Tonight. She was running half naked across the hills like a mad thing. She was fleeing from something and the only way she could get back was through me.”
“She is here then. You have her.”
“No.” Severus looked a bit embarrassed now. “She got away. But at least, we know where she is and what she is doing. And I can sense when she leaves that place, Albus. Every time she comes out I can feel her. though I admit she is not too happy at the prospect of returning here.”
“Well that is understandable after the way we treated her. But I am sure we can change her mind once we have her back with us.”
“I somehow doubt that Albus. I would also like to know what she was running away from. She was naked apart from a torn robe. I gave her my cloak but she took it with her. And she admitted that she was here that night. She was the one who removed the curse. Though I did not get a chance to discover how she got in and out of the school.”

Shannon cackled to her self while the other Hogwarts elves shied away from her nervously. It was unusual to hear their matriarch laugh.
Shannon had seen the Potion Master waiting for the girl. He thought she hadn’t, but she had. He thought she had gone. But Shannon was stood beside him all the time, invisible to them both as the girl came into view. Shannon stood and watched her come flying over the rise. Her eyes took in the look on his face, the glitter in his eyes when he saw the girl falter and stop. Shannon tuned herself to his thoughts. He had no idea she was in his head. Shannon knew he dreamt of the girl nightly, knew the dreams had changed. He still wanted her. But now he wanted more. He wanted her love, he just didn’t realise it. He was beginning to care for her, wanting to show her something other then pain. The Potions Master was confused. Shannon stayed where she was until the girl was safely back inside the wall. The girl thought Shannon deserted her and had given up, offered herself to him. Things were going well.

Sky slammed the door closed behind her and leaned against it, slowly sinking to the floor. Rowena called her from the living room.
“Come in here, Sky. What happened?”
Pulling herself back to her feet she made her way through the door , took one look at Rowena and burst into tears again. Now that the tears found their outlet, sky could no longer stop them.
All Rowena heard for the next half hour was a few choked words in between the sobs.
“Shannon … Thing … Left me … Big … Waiting … not go.”
Eventually, Sky cried herself to sleep on the sofa. Rowena was heartbroken as she watched her. Sky’s breath hitched as she slept and Rowena wanted nothing more then to put her arms around her and hold her, comfort her. But being a portrait that was impossible. She left her frame and went to talk to the others.
Sky woke next day to find Sal, Helga and Godric in the room along with Rowena.
“Oh. What is it? Why is everybody here?”
“We were worried about you. Rowena came to get us after you fell asleep last night.”
“Oh Sal, it was terrible. Why didn’t any of you tell me what was going to happen? That … that thing. She called it and it came. Then when it went she left me. Why did she do that? Then Sir was waiting and no one came.”
“Because it had to be done.” Sal told her. “You were blessed last night. Blessed by the Original, the first ever magical being. You are the only direct descendant of the Original.”
“How am I? I might not be. There might be others.”
“The stone around your neck.” Godric put in. “It can only be worn by the first born female of each generation of his line. You have worn that stone since the day you were born. It has a twin that lays in the tip of your wand. Do you know the history of your wand?”
“Not much. Mr. Ollivander was mad that it came to me. I tipped his desk over. He told Sir something but I couldn’t understand what he was saying, something about blood. And when the wand came, it put its tip at my stone.”
Helga spoke next. “You have the ‘Wand of Bloods‘. To some it is only a legend. Very few believe it truly exists. Only those who have given their own blood know of it’s existence, and most of those are now dead. The ‘Wand of Bloods’ gains its power from the blood it contains that, the stones and you.”
“The wand was crafted many years before wands came into common usage. It is not like the wands you see today. Your wand was crafted from the leg bone of your forefather. The Original. The stones that grace your neck and wand are the eyes of your forefather.”
“Oh Rowena, that’s horrible.” Sky looked disgusted.
“Together, blood, wand and stones, combine with you to create a special magic. Blood, dark earth, elemental, sympathetic magic, every kind of magic known to wizard kind comes through you and these treasured items. None can work at full power without the other. The wand has waited for you Sky.”
“But why Sal? Why me? And why now?
“As Godric has told you. You are the last. And now? That is another tale. One you are not ready for yet.”
“Well what does it have to do with Sir? Why do I have to heal him? I know it does. But what?”
“Once again, you are not ready.”
“But Shannon told that thing I wasn’t his to take. Believe me, I’m glad about that. But there was something about the way she said it. Tell me. I know you know.”
“In time, Sky, in time.”
They would tell her nothing more and when three of the four left, Rowena told her to go take a soak in the bath. Her lessons would restart that afternoon.
By the time she was dried and dressed, she felt much better and sat down to look at her presents. Sky had not really had a chance the day before. An hour later, she closed the second of the two books Rowena had given her, the unmarked one. Sky started writing down her feelings and memories from as far back as she could remember. Every day, she would take time to write her diary and then add her feelings to the second book. Her ‘life book’ she called it.
She also discovered that if she liked a particular song on the wireless she could save it to play again by saying Servo musica.
I save music
Five times she had been to heal Sir of the curse, some times were worse than others. Once he was bleeding badly. He had been lashed. Sky knew what that felt like. She still had the scars to prove it.
Sir no longer tried to stop her when she left him. He didn’t try to force her to stay, or make a grab for her. He simply looked at her, a strange expression in his eyes.
The last time she had gone to him Sir had spoken to her.
“Thank you.” He whispered to her before closing his eyes and sleeping.
It was the first time he ever thanked her and she was shocked. When his eyes closed, Sky ran the back of her hand over his cheek tenderly.
“You’re welcome Sir.” Was her reply before once more returning to the wall.
Two nights before she was to leave Rowena, Sky woke with the now familiar feeling that Sir was in pain. Getting out of bed and crossing to the mirror, she pointed her wand. She saw him. But instead of being in his bedroom or office as he usually was, Sir was on the ground writhing in agony as a tall skeletal, lipless man held his wand at Sir and laughed.
Sky didn’t know who the horrible man was but he was causing Sir pain. He was the one who caused his pain the other times, how she knew she didn’t stop to wonder. Instead, Sky threw a robe on over her nightdress and pulled on her boots before running into the living room and to the ever present door.
“Sky? What on earth are you doing? Where are you going?” Asked a half asleep but very startled Rowena.
“Sir. Hurting bad. Must get. Bad man.” That was all the explanation Rowena got as Sky shot through the door and closed it behind her.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Dark Lord laughed as the Potion Master jerked and his body twisted impossibly under the curse.
“Crucio!” Shouted the Dark Lord again and again.
Others, masked and robed, stood around Snape’s pitiful form, laughing along with their Lord, hoping they were not next.
Sky closed the door quietly behind her and looked round. She was in a large room. The walls and floor were made of stone and there were no windows. Manacles were dotted along the far wall and stains covered the wall and floor.
Sky didn’t want to think what caused those stains. To her left, she could hear them laughing and looked over. There was a large chair, ornately carved, in front of it stood the skeletal man. He had his back to Sky but the others, the ones with mask, they were facing her. As yet, no one noticed her standing in the shadows.
Keeping her back against the wall, she edged forward, crouching low as she went. When the skeleton man shouted ‘crucio’ again, she moved more quickly. The stone at her throat began to pulse with an eerie violet light. The wand gripped in her hand glowed with the same light. It caught the attention of one of the masked figures and he said something to the skeleton man and nodded in her direction. He in turn stopped cursing Sir and wheeled round to see who the intruder was. Sky knew her cover was blown, her wand and stone glowed too brightly for her not to be seen.
“We have a visitor. Come forward.” The Dark Lord hissed.
Sky stepped towards him, her eyes flicking from person to person as she went. The skeleton man held out his hand and muttered something. When nothing happened, he cursed and tried again. Sky was grabbed from behind by two of the masked men and dragged to the front before being thrown to the ground next to the unconscious Sir. One of the men moved to take her wand and jumped back with a cry when it burned his hand. Sky was shaking and still the stones glowed; the glow becoming more intense. Her wand tugged at her hand until it was aimed at the Dark Lord.
“Who are you?” He asked.
“Sky. Lea … leave him alone.”
He laughed at her but his red eyes flashed with a fire that chilled Sky to the bone. “You dare to come here and order me. Do you know who I am?”
“Bad. Bad man. M … make hurt.”
“That’s right little girl. I can make a lot of hurt. What are you doing here? How did you get in? And somebody take that wand from her.”
The Dark Lord shouted.
“No. Not take. I come for Sir.”
Sky was grabbed again but this time she was held to the ground. Once more a hand made a grab for her wand and once more the hand was burned.
“Useless fools. Take it.”
When no one could take hold of the wand, one of the men sat on her and held her wrist. His other fist connected with her face before he smashed her hand onto the stone floor repeatedly, trying make her drop it.
“No. Sky’s wand. Not take. No more hurt. Please.”
The skeletal man laughed and said something she couldn’t hear. The men began to pull at her robe, tearing it from her and then ripping at her nightie as the one sitting on her lifted his own robes and opened his trousers, revealing an erection. Her arms were held above her head and her legs pulled wide as the man on top moved between her legs and placed the head of his erection at her opening.
“Nooo.” She screamed, the wand and the stone at her neck flashed a radiant green that enveloped each and every man that was touching her.
As one, they fell to the ground, the one about to rape her slumping on top of her. She wriggled and pushed until he fell off and she got to her knees, pulling at the dead man’s robe so she would have something to cover herself. Voldemort roared his anger at the fact she’d just killed four of his followers.
He aimed his wand at her. “AVADA KED …”
Sky’s wand turned suddenly in her hand and aimed at the Dark Lord. Together with the stone at her neck, they threw out a narrow beam of yellow directly at his wand, causing it to burst into flames while still in his hand.
Voldemort screamed in rage and pain as he tried to let go of the wand, but it remained glued to him as the stench of burning flesh permeated the room.
Again, she was grabbed from behind as some of the temporarily stunned Death Eaters came to their senses and tried to halt the fiery curse.
But the beam zigzagged and turned on them, striking each one that held her with lightning speed. The other Death Eaters backed off and Sky crawled toward Sir.
“W … wake up. P … please wake up. S … ir.” She pleaded as she grabbed his robes and shook him. He cried out at her rough handling of him but didn’t waken.
Sky turned her wand on him, wishing he would get up. Slowly his limp body began to rise from the cold floor and she stood, holding on to his robe tightly. But Voldemort had shaken off the fire curse and was incensed. He was bellowing orders at the others, his own wand now nought but ashes and his hand badly burnt. But the others were now too afraid to even approach the girl.
Voldemort made to grab her, but before he could the stone at her throat gave off a dark shadow that encompassed both her and Snape as she pulled his floating form to the door. Each time the skeletal hand tried to make a grab for her, it bounced off the darkness surrounding them.
Amongst all the shouting and yelling Sky opened the first door she found and pulled Snape through quickly before slamming it closed behind her.
Before Rowena had chance to utter a word Sky pulled open the door again and pulled the Potions Master through into his bedroom. She placed him on the bed, climbed up and knelt beside him. As before, the wand and stone emitted their pale blue glow, intensifying the longer she held it on him until the pain left his exhausted body once more.
Only when the glow had gone and her arm fell to her side did Sky succumb to her own pain and exhaustion, collapsing beside him on the bed and tumbling to the floor unconscious.
