Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
AN: Here I am, once again at 3 am writing this just because I can’t get any sleep. These boys drive me mad with this story.
I started singing(in middle of the night too!) a song called Illusion and Dream by Poets of the Fall, and suddenly it fit into what I wanted to write.
Chapter 11
Harry felt like squirming, jumping, shouting. He was so giddy that he wouldn’t have believed possible. People turned to look at him as he was smiling like he was the sun that had came up just after a horrible storm. He had been doing some morning flying to settle his racing heart but it had done nothing to help with that. He was feeling more energetic now that he had when he had got up from bed. The broom in his hand swayed from side to side and he swung it dangerously around from time to time as he made his way to the Great Hall.
The smacked his broom down on the table, giving everyone near by a fright.
“Harry!” Hermione exclaimed as she lost the page she had been on.
“Hello my fellow Gryffindors,” Harry beamed as he sat down.
“What in Merlin’s name has gotten into you, mate?” Ron asked angrily as he looked for a new fork.
“I went flying,” Harry answered simply.
Ron huffed. “We can bloody well see that!”
“Oh live a little Ron!” Harry gave his best friend a little push. Ron still looked angry and went back to eating.
It was actually Hermione who took notice of his mood. “It seems you have a good morning?”
“Indeed I have,” Harry said as a matter of fact. “But I had even more pleasant evening last night.”
Hermione almost cooed, “Ooh, do tell!”
Harry flashed a big smile. “I start to understand why people who are in love act so strangely.”
Hermione’s eyes widened. “Are you saying you are in love?”
Harry kept on smiling. “Maybe but I just feel extremely good right now. We are going to win the game tomorrow, I am sure of this.”
“Harry, you must tell me what happened last night. Did it involve a certain someone?”
“Of course it did!”
She smiled just as widely as him now. “Oh, Harry, I am so happy for you!”
Ron grunted between them. He was not a morning person at all.

Draco sighed, leaning his forehead against the freezing glass of a window. For the first time he had some doubt about his plan. He had come this far, he couldn’t back out now. Tomorrow was a big day, he knew that much. Everything would change. Draco swallowed down the regret that tried to climb its way up his throat. He already could hear Harry screaming at him. He would have to come to terms with the probability that Potter would leave him. When he learned of his betrayal of trust and all there was good about their relationship. He had to live with himself. He was the one who cooked up this ridiculous way to get rid of the debt. He didn’t know if he wanted to do that anymore but his relationship with Potter had gone too far. The result might be just what he had hoped for even if he continued to pursue Potter or not.
He pushed himself away from the cool glass. His forehead was painfully cold now. His head hurt like hell but that was what he deserved. Maybe this was how Potter had felt at times when the Dark Lord had been inside his head. No, it had been worse he knew. This was just a fraction of that pain, he was sure. It was darkening already outside. It fit his mood like a glove into a hand. He felt like he was at the edge of the moment when it suddenly comes a lot darker than it was moments ago.
He closed his eyes and let the images and feelings from yesterday take him in. Harry in his arms had looked so blissful. Sweat clinging to his skin and making it taste salty. It had been the first time he had really noticed how brilliant those eyes of his were. They took you in and held you captive. There it was; the regret again, bubbling to the surface.
He gritted his teeth, opening his eyes. It was so dark outside that he could see his reflection clearly on the window. He didn’t want to look at himself. He was ashamed of how much emotion the raven haired git could draw out of him and all those emotions were not what he wanted to acknowledge.
There was anger, hurt, need, lust and something that was somewhat close to compassion. They hadn’t fought like they used to for months now. Not since the war. Something had changed in Potter. He looked at him in whole different way than he had used to. He wanted to know what he was thinking about when they were together. It did seem sometimes that Potter couldn’t decide whether to like him or not. Last night though Potter had proved to be something he’d thought he might never be able to see. Never had he experienced anything like that with anyone else. No one had been that raw with their emotions and letting them show. Potter had completely surrendered to his need. His emotions had taken him by surprise and when he had let loose too something had changed. He had felt complete.

The evening found Harry sitting in front of the fire place in the Gryffindor common room, scribbling down notes.
”Harry?” Hermione’s voice asked from behind him. ”Are you alright?”
”What? Why?” Harry turned to face her in plain confusion written on his face.
Hermione just had to smile. ”Harry, you have homework that is not due for months in front of you and you are humming while doing it. I would call that weird.”
”Bah! Hermione, this is nothing! I just felt like doing it now that I have the energy to do it and you know they say that what you can do tomorrow you can do today.”
Hermione chuckled. ”I don’t think the saying goes like that, Harry.”
”Whatever, Herm, I am doing it now. I feel so great!” Harry exclaimed, then turned back to his work and started humming again.
Hermione shook her head. ”Don’t forget to rest. Tomorrow is your Quidditch game,” she said and left her friend to do his homework in peace.

The student populace cheered as the game started between Gryffindor and Slytherin. The weather was the finest possible. The first snow had appeared during the previous night and Harry was enjoying it. Only one thing was shadowing his day; the fact that Draco Malfoy sat in the stands instead of playing against him. He frowned as he thought about it but the frown disappeared when he flew by the stand that held the former Slytherin Seeker. His platinum hair stood out against the black school uniformed sea of people. He was cheering along with his friends but Harry did not know who his was cheering for.
The game was easy one to win for the Gryffindors. The new Slytherin Seeker was nothing compared to what Malfoy had been. He was unable to bring out the full potential out of his broom. The Slytherin Seeker spotted the Snitch first but it was piece of cake for Harry to race past him and snatch hit right from under his nose.
The Gryffindor side of the stands exploded in cheering and applause. Harry circled the pitch as a tradition for the victory. He purposely flew by the Slytherin stand slowly. When he reached the stand Malfoy was in, he saw Malfoy signaling him to come over and he was supposedly shouting his name too. He flew in, a bit wary of the other Slytherins. Hovering right at the edge of the stand in front of the blond Slytherin, he offered Malfoy the Snitch. Everyone in the stand was quiet but Malfoy was smiling at him.
“Thanks,” Draco answered and took the Snitch. “Good game, Potter. Makes me wish I still played.”
Harry chuckled. “That new Seeker really does not have what you do, Malfoy,” he responded.
That made Draco laugh out loud. “Indeed,” he said, smirking. He took a step forward and beckoned Harry closer. Harry went closer, taking hold of the railing of the stand with his other hand. “What is imh--“ It was all he could say when Draco grabbed the front of his Quidditch robes and kissed him. He was so shocked that he didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t even push Draco away but he struggled his way out of the kiss.
“What in hell was--“ he was once again silenced by Draco who put a finger on his lips.
“Thank you, Harry, for the Snitch.” Draco smirked knowingly. “You should get back to your team. I’ll see you later to celebrate your victory,” Draco said, releasing his hold on Harry’s robes.
By the time Harry finally was able to push himself away people were whispering and murmuring eagerly. He knew he was just as surprised as the people around them but he would need to explain this to his friends. He looked Draco in the eye for a moment until deciding that saying nothing would be the best action now. He weakly nodded and flew off.
Shaking his head, he went to join his team mates on the ground.
“Mate, what were you doing there with the Slytherins?” Ron asked immediately he was close enough.
Harry landed, dusting his robes to gain more time to answer. “I just went to greet Malfoy, telling him that it was a bore game without him on the other side.”
“Mate,” Ron said in wonder. “We could have made him play if I had known you feel that way about it. I am sure he would have taken the challenge if you had presented it to him.”
Harry shrugged. “Maybe, but let’s celebrate now, shall we?”
They left the pitch to start their celebration.

Someone had smuggled loads of Butterbeer in the common room and added to that people were eating all kinds of sweets. Because of that most of people were already in sugar high by the time the party even seriously started. Most of the lower class students had been evicted to beds and the older ones plus the Quidditch team continued their party.
Harry was not as cheerful as the others. He sighed as he looked outside. It was already dark and he couldn’t see the pitch anymore. It seemed that the word about the incident had not spread yet but tomorrow morning at breakfast it was sure to reach their section of table too. He wondered where that blond haired devil was. He didn’t want to think that Malfoy was playing him but what he had done today was not something someone did without other person’s consent.
“Harry, come have some Butterbeer!” Ron was calling him from middle of the other players. “Mate, they will be gone soon if you don’t hurry.”
Harry smiled as he turned to face them. He should enjoy the party a bit. “I’m coming, Ron,” he called back and walked over to take a bottle that Ron was offering to him. He briefly thought about Malfoy again. Why was it that he wanted him to be here with him? For some reason he kept thinking that the blond would soon come through the entrance to celebrate like he had promised. It was out of sheer luck he saw an owl tapping behind one of the windows. He glanced at his fellow students to see that they were completely focused on some gossip and wouldn’t notice him leaving.
He walked calmly to the window and let the owl in, taking the letter when it sat on his shoulder. It was from Malfoy.
“Harry getting a love letter at this late?” Someone said from the circle around the table in middle of the couches and armchairs.
Harry waved the letter and said half heartedly, “Yeah some first year has a crush on me.”
There was a row of laughter. “Don’t go breaking her heart, mate!”
“She will soon forget about me,” he answered and read the brief letter. His brows lifted in surprise. The letter said that Malfoy was waiting for him outside the common room at this very moment.
