Here’s Chapter 11. Finally…. In the new 2012 year. I’m sorry that I’ve been absent so long. My creative fairy kind of left me for awhile, it might again – but at least I popped out a chapter.
So, please review if you can! It really does mean a lot to me that I get them. I know this isn’t the most amazing story, but it is an outlet for me and I write it more for pleasure. It makes me happy knowing that there are some that can actually find entertainment out of it like I can.
Again. Thank you, to those who have read &reviewed. I appreciate it! <3

By the time they were done it was nearly midnight and sweat rolled down her brow; her skin discolored a ruddy color as she shook her head signaling she didn’t want anymore. Granted, Snape hadn’t cared in the first place whether she wanted to continue on or if she wanted to stop. He just kept going at her like she should be used to it. Yet, this time he did stop and her head lifted up as she glared at the Potions Master. The asshole basically knew everything about her in those four hours they spent. She was getting better at closing him out, but she couldn’t keep her mind closed for long.
“I hate you,” she hissed and looked away out of shame.
Draco, at this point was amused and curious. What had Snape seen that she loathed him for, cried about when he saw it, or even made her smile? There were obviously things in her life that she had suppressed, by his assumption. The fact that Snape had gotten to them had just set her off like a firecracker. What would she do? How long until she would just give up? Draco seriously wanted a chance at her mind and he wanted to see her deepest secrets, but he knew that it would probably not happen. He was just the incentive for her to actually accomplish what she was supposed to.
“That hurts,” Snape stated sarcastically as he pulled her up from her chair and pushed her towards the door. “Your lesson is over for the night… I’m sure I don’t have to remind you about other things, do I? Such as coming to class and detention from now on…”
So that was that? He’d look at her darkest secrets like it was nothing and push her out like… it was nothing, “No.” She sternly muttered as she stormed out of the room. “Asshole,” she hissed under her breath.
Who did these people think they were? Granted she was asking a lot of questions in her mind, but seriously… did they have any common courtesy or even a sliver of compassion? Apparently not. Having to relive that… those memories… much less him figuring out who she was outside of this ‘world’. She was fuming and was in no mood to let the ferret trail behind her to throw taunts.
With that in mind her pace quickened with each step until she was running. She didn’t need Mrs. Norris catching her out and about and then go to Filch himself and tattle on her even if she was out of her dormitory with Snape’s permission. When she got to Slytherin dungeon she quickly stated the password and slipped in unnoticed.
She wasn’t too keen on sleeping any time soon, but that wasn’t up to her. She was in her room in no time and noticed the current hour – groaning. She sluggishly made it to her bed and plopped on in it, closing her eyes. “Have to sleep, can’t be late to classes tomorrow…”
Though, the words came out more swiftly than her slumber. Tossing and turning ensued, she couldn’t get things that she’d suppressed out of her mind. It pained her to have scars re-opened, not particularly for the world to see, but they didn’t have to for her to feel the pain. It took her about another hour before she fell into a disturbed dreamland.
-------------------------------------------------
An alarm sounded too soon. A groan came from the girl beneath warm covers; her cat trotting along her back as she went to swat awkwardly at it. “No, bad kitty…” Sesshomaru popped off the girl and trotted away; almost insulted she didn’t want him around. “Augh, don’t want to go to class.”
She sluggishly got out of bed, getting dressed and ready for the day. What was she going to do if she didn’t go to class today? She couldn’t do all the make-up work. She was sure her teachers would also get on her case about skipping out and might not even give her make-up work to do, thus it would hurt her grade. She couldn’t have that happen. She had to level out her emotions, she was a train-wreck.
Taking a few deep breaths she walked towards the door, opening it and leaving, but not before patting the tuxedo cat on the dresser beside her in apology for her previous outburst.
“What the hell…” as she descended the stairs she noticed Slytherins staring at her venomously.
Whatever they thought of her, she wasn’t in the mood to hear it, much less even take the attention she was currently getting. Sure, she came in late, but how did anyone know? Was someone awake when she arrived and did Draco follow in shortly after? Stephanie shook her head and swiftly walked out of the Slytherin common rooms to eat breakfast. They could deal with their own problems.
------------------------------------------------------
“What a slag. Why was she with my Draky-poo!?” a pug-nosed black-haired girl hissed.
“Calm down Pansy,” Blaise smirked. “I think we can use this to our advantage.”
Eyes roamed over to Blaise as Pansy frowned. “How so Zambini? This better be good. She came in way too late last night to have not gotten in trouble, points aren’t taken away from our house and Draco came in not too long after!” She snapped.
A group of Slytherins looked their way, but quickly ignored the two as they all went along their merry little way.
“Oh, it will be.” He crossed his arms. “He doesn’t need to hang out with that low-class slag. He’s my best friend Pansy.”
“He’s mine anyway….” She confidently spoke. “She’s just jealous and wants to take him away.”
“Oh Pansy…” Blaise rolled his eyes somewhat, the girl beside him was such a slag, but he didn’t like Stephanie so the lesser of two evils would have to be taken out before he could care about the girl beside him. “Well, here’s the plan…”
------------------------------------------------------
“Steph!” A hand shot up, “Steph – here!”
Her head snapped in the direction of her name and she noticed Adrianna sitting at the Ravenclaw table. Weary looks were sent her way, but she walked over none-the-less with a large forced smile upon her face. It wasn’t that she was upset to see her best friend, but she wasn’t in the mood to really see anyone.
“Mornin’ Oddy,” she sat down when her friend motioned her to, stomach grumbling.
“You doing okay?” Adrianna looked concerned, “Draco told me you might not even come down to eat, but he seemed smug about it – like he was hoping I’d get worried…. and I did, but…. but….” Adrianna stopped as a hand covered her mouth.
“Shhh,” Steph sighed. “Don’t worry about me, it was an extremely tough night last night and I’m fine. I’m here. It’s a new day.” She removed her hand, picking up a muffin and biting in to it, almost devouring it once she had a taste of food.
“Ah…”
“We’re going to have an awesome day, before it goes to shite.” She admitted to her friend, wanting to make the best of her days before all the detentions she had, she’d need it. “I really need you right now… I’ll explain things to you once we’re more… alone…”
Adrianna nodded, understanding the problem with talking publicly. Everyone talked behind each other’s back. It was almost sickening. The Ravenclaw’s eyes then settled upon two Slytherins waltzing on in as though they were up to no good. Pansy was uncomfortably close to Blaise, they had a look of accomplishment upon their face and it scared Adrianna.
“Did you upset anyone in Slytherin, Steph?”
“Not that I know of… I was out late last night at detention.” She admitted, “HE was there. I didn’t notice anyone when I walked in… but I didn’t really even check.” She tried to keep names out of it as she picked up a bowl of grapes, devouring those as well.
“Well… watch your back, I have a bad feeling.”
With that said, classes were about to start and they couldn’t be late. She got up and scurried off, Adrianna not too far behind.
------------------------------------------------------
The day didn’t go as well as Stephanie had expected, but things would just get worse anyway. She had the sneaking suspicion she was being followed. It was unnerving and she didn’t know if she should tell Snape or just let him find out the hard way that things were going to get around the school. Though, it came to her attention that teaching him a lesson in that way wasn’t really going to affect him, it would hurt her more than anything.
“Fuck…” she dropped her Potions book as Pansy pushed past her in an empty hallway.
“Oh, I’m so sorry…” Pansy chuckled as she kicked Stephanie’s book across the hallway as she strode past her fellow house-mate. “I’m sure the position to pick your book up is one you’ve been in enough, slag.” Pansy entered the classroom not too long after her jab.
“Why you….” Stephanie balled her fists, glaring at the raven-haired girl. “When I get my hands on you, magic isn’t going to fucking help you….” It was hard to put her muggle version of fighting away because she was raised like that obviously before she got stuck in this predicament.
Stephanie quickly bent over to pick up her book and trailed in a few moments later, giving herself time to cool off. She took a seat and Snape looked up from his desk, ready to start class. He looked at her with an odd expression, but it faded just as quickly as it appeared. This was going to be a rather long period for her. . .
. . . . . . . . .
“You will write a rather long and extensive paper on veritaserum… If you bore me with your paper, I will fail you automatically. Got it? Now get out.”
Groans were heard as kids shuffled out, all but two… then three…. and four.
“Come on Draco.” Blaise motioned for his friend to come. “It’s time to eat.”
“Drakey-poo, I’m sure –” Pansy was cut off.
“Didn’t I say get out Miss Parkinson and Mister Zambini?” Snape glared at his house students. “Out, Miss Kirchner and Mister Malfoy are staying behind for something that has no concern to you. Out, before I give you detention with Filch and possibly take points.”
“But…” Pansy started, but was then drug out by Blaise as they left to avoid losing house points, although rare for Snape to take from his own house, and getting a detention on top of it.
“The hell is their problem…” Stephanie looked over towards Draco. “What did you tell them you prat!?” She accused, holding her hand up to strike the boy, being held back by Snape.
“Miss Kirchner, such primitive violence is not needed.” He warned, “I believe Mister Malfoy should give his side of the story before you jump to conclusions.”
She yanked her hand away from the Potions teacher and crossed her arms across her chest so she wouldn’t get any ideas. Yes, he needed to explain himself, but if he told her it wasn’t him – then how could she believe? Sure he seemed to like her, seemed to be a friend of hers, but Slytherins back-stabbed. She was worried. Would he take the cause of Voldemort more seriously than her life? Her eyes examined the boy as he looked taken aback and upset.
“I told them nothing, you idiot. I can get in just as much shite as you for letting this loose. Not only from them, but from…. well you know!” He bellowed. “So before you go accusing, take a close look in the mirror. Maybe you didn’t see something when you arrived, I certainly didn’t, but it seems they did.”
Slytherins certainly weren’t below sneaking around and airing out the dirty laundry in front of everyone. If anything, it made them more formidable in a way. If they were going to get to the top, they were taking people out with them that were above them. She gave a worried expression at the fact that Draco seemed to think the same thing, that the two that just left were up to something.
“Well what do we do, we can’t have them finding out…” her voice was barely above a whisper, broken, almost as though she’d burst into tears.
“I will be taking care of that Miss Kirchner.” He raised a brow, “Miss Kirchner, you should have known this could have been a possibility….”
Snape seemed almost cryptic in his words, at least to Draco, as Stephanie looked up towards her teacher. Sure, she knew Slytherins could be this nasty to one another, but she could get killed over this – even Draco could. Her family, friends… his family…. and whatever friends he had. It was all at risk. How could she have not seen this before? Even though Malfoy was a huge prat, he was putting his life on the line to do this with Snape.
“Fine…. Well, we should eat before tonight’s detention.”
“Yes, now go. I will expect you to be here on time. You know the consequences Miss Kirchner, Mister Malfoy.”
“Yes Sir…” She turned around and headed out the door, Malfoy trailing behind.
------------------------------------------------------
Dinner went far too quickly for Stephanie as she got up from her table and said her good nights to Adrianna and Luna. It seemed Adrianna had made a good friend; hopefully Stephanie could get to know Luna more now that Adrianna had introduced them. She seemed like quite the odd character, but still a loyal and rather awkwardly intelligent girl.
“Let’s do this…” she marched herself right down to where her detention was, right on time – finally.
As she opened the door she noticed Draco was already there, how he had gotten there before her was a miracle, she knew he was being grilled by Pansy and Blaise as to why he had been so distant lately. That whore Pansy bad-mouthed her the entire time and he just went along with it like it was nothing, it was rather painful to overhear.
“Malfoy…” she acknowledged.
“Hn…” he shrugged and looked over towards Snape. “How much longer do I have to keep up with this? The others are getting suspicious, they said so at dinner. Pansy will not let this go, stupid girl is like a….”
“…gold-digging lap dog and slags everything around her with two legs? Yes, that’s Pansy for you.” Stephanie finished his thought for him. “We already know they’re up to something, we already determined that before you had a chance to get grilled by them!” she slammed her hands down on a desk in front of her. “What I want to know is, what do they know?”
“Well if you’d shut up you stupid girl I could tell you that they saw you arrive late in Slytherin dungeon and then me not too long after. They wouldn’t tell me why they were out… they even said that we’d been spending an odd amount of time together and with your background of your family not originally being Slytherin – well… they don’t take kindly to that.” He snidely remarked. “A lot of Slytherin sees you as no better than a -- ” he didn't even finish his sentence.
“How!?” She was about to rant more but Snape wouldn’t have it.
“You can discuss this later. I’ve heard what I’ve needed to hear. Now let’s get on with why we are here. I don’t need to waste my time any longer.” He motioned for Stephanie to sit down so they could begin their session that was likely to last an hour or two.
------------------------------------------------------
“Fuck!” she cried out as Snape pulled out of her mind. “Dammit, mother –”
“MISS KIRCHNER. Before you continue that slew of terms, I’d like to remind you that I am a teacher and you will watch your language in front of me.”
“I’m sorry…”
She now felt more comfortable letting Snape into her mind. It wasn’t like she could hide anything anymore. It was getting less painful than the first time, but it still hurt. While he was finding out new things about her every so often, she was able to block him more than the last time. So it seemed to be working. The looming threat of Malfoy being around was certainly one that helped her continue on in this. She’d be damned if she let that boy into her mind. Whether she was interested in him or not.
“Psh… can I go now?” Draco chimed in. “I do nothing but stand here, I’m tired. I don’t even know why I come…”
“Because you will need to learn this as well, don’t think she’s the only one that needs to learn this. In order to keep this from the Dark Lord you will have to keep him out of your mind as well…”
“What!? I never even asked for this… and now you think I care?” Draco was furious.
“Don’t question me Mister Malfoy. Be quiet before I reduce your house points and get back to the dungeons, sleep and it will be your turn tomorrow. The same threat looms over you, Miss Kirchner will get to see your memories if you do not show improvement at least the second day and cannot block out people by the time you are finished with this training. Good night.”
Snape left the room they were in, leaving the two bewildered as Stephanie stood up from her chair and began to leave. She wasn’t about to question why he had left, he said he was going to take care of the two misfits for them – so she assumed that’s what he went to do.
“Well, Malfoy… guess you’re not the only one.” Stephanie smirked. “Bye.”
“Fuck…”
------------------------------------------------------
This was too good to be true. She entered her room and lay down on her bed, stretched out and comfortable. She’d finally be able to get a good night of rest tonight, unlike last. Yet, she was almost giddy at the thought of being able to use magic to pull Malfoy’s deepest and darkest secrets.
Their plans and his realization…
Well…. only time would show how the events would unfold.
