Harry stretched languidly as he woke up, frowning as he realized that the fire was still blazing in the common room. The light from the fire illuminated the bottom of his bedroom door and he yawned as he shook his head and sat up. Tossing back the blankets, Harry slipped from his four-poster bed and padded softly into the little kitchenette that was in Severus' quarters. The house of Hogwarts were truly Harry's best friends as they had stocked the kitchen with ice cold pumpkin juice. Gulping the cool liquid down, Harry set the glass back on the counter and then leant against it, his eyes going to the couch where Severus had fallen asleep while watching the fire.
Green eyes flickering up to the clock that read two-thirty in the morning, Harry walked over to the couch and stared down at Severus Snape. There were quite a few words that could describe the sleeping man: grouchy, snarky, ugly, cold, cruel, mean, but as Harry stared down at the older man only one word lodged in his brain. Beautiful.
"Merlin, Dumbledore is rubbing off on me." Harry muttered as he took a blanket and spread it over his bondmate. With a final look at Snape, Harry retreated back to his bedroom.
A few hours later Severus snapped awake from the awkward position that he found himself sleeping in. The blanket that had been lightly spread across him was a new addition to his vision, and he smirked lightly, knowing that it had to have been Harry who done it. Agh, we're going to grow into that mushy gay couple that everyone hates being around.
Casting the blanket to the side, Severus rose, his bones popping in protest, and went to the bathroom to take his morning shower. Pushing the door open, Severus' eyes widened as steam rolled out to meet him, and a blurred image of a very naked Potter leered out at him.
The Death Eater was about to leave the boy to his privacy when he stopped. WAIT! This is my lavatory! Silently, Severus stripped and then opened the door to the shower.
Harry spun around, green eyes wide, as he hadn't expected company in the shower. That was exactly the reason he'd risen so early to take his shower.
"What are you doing in here?" Harry asked, a red flush gracing his cheeks.
Snape raised an eyebrow, "I'm fixing a leaky faucet." He snapped sarcastically.
Harry snorted, but was determined to be just as stubborn as Severus, and so he continued to wash, pretending as if the other man weren't present. Although ignoring Severus was proving to be more than hard. It was amazing what robes could hide. Whereas most men Severus' age were hitting their middle-age spread, and working up a beer gut, Severus' body was finely toned and chiseled. Probably from being a Death Eater... ARGH! Why am I even thinking about his body?! Harry scrubbed vigorously at his hair with a handful of shampoo.
"Don't pull it out, Potter, I'm not fond of bald men." Snape murmured in Harry's ear with a gleam in his dark onyx eyes.
The Boy Who Lived shot his Potions Professor a withering glare before rinsing the shampoo out. Harry was moving around to exit the shower when Severus stopped him, "Don't move." Snape commanded as he squirted conditioner in his hand and then began to carefully work it through Harry's hair, always careful not to let it drip down into Harry's eyes.
When he was finished Severus dropped his hands and let the water from the shower clean them off, "There." Severus said simply, and then returned to washing himself.
Looking through the steam that the hot water created, Harry felt his heart hammering in his chest. Professor or no professor, Snape was simply beautiful and even more so with the water pouring down his chiseled body. "Like what you see, Potter?" Snape drawled, causing Harry to look away with a blush.
Harry's blushing intrigued Snape, even with all that Harry had been through, his cheeks still colored a light pink. Stepping closer to Harry, Severus murmured huskily, "I like it when you blush." Snape kissed Harry's cheek softly and suckled at the water that had trailed down Harry's cheek.
Snape's hands slid to Harry's hips and he could feel the younger wizard tense at his touch. Snape sighed and stepped back from Harry, causing the shorter man to look at him in surprise, "Do I look like Dursley?" Snape questioned suddenly.
Harry, eyes wide, shook his head, "No."
"Then why are you so afraid of my touch?" Snape demanded.
Harry's chin rose a bit with determination, "I am not afraid of your touch."
Snape reached out a hand to touch Harry and involuntarily the Boy Who Lived stepped back, "You're not?" Snape knew that he had proven his point.
The wizard sighed his eyes studying the tiled floor and the way the water rushed over it before spiraling down the drain, "In my mind I am not, I can't help the way I tense up." Besides, it was Snape, his professor, of all people. Surely Snape didn't expect him to be so comfortable so soon.
Snape opened is mouth to argue the point but then snapped it shut.
"Fine." Snape finally said, "I will not touch you unless you ask me to do so, but I give you permission to touch me any time you like."
Harry was surprised by the deal because he'd never known Snape to compromise about anything, "Why are you doing this?"
"Because as strange as it seems, I don't like forcing you to do things, I want you to do them on your own because you want to." Snape, unlike most Death Eaters, just didn't find crying people, beaten into submission, to be a turn-on.
"Oh." Was the only word that Harry could find.
Severus finished washing and then left Harry in the shower. By the time Harry got out and finished drying off Severus was already dressed and he poked his head into Harry's room for just a moment, "I'm going up, don't be late for class." With that the door was softly shut and Harry was left on his own.

Harry sighed, tired after another day of hard classes, as he walked in Dumbledore's classroom to find the welcoming chairs and fireplace gone, replaced with a large soft mat.
"Professor?" Harry questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Right here, Harry." Dumbledore said, appearing in a pair of midnight blue robes, his long white hair tied back, his sleeves rolled up and his wand in hand.
Getting the feeling that they would be dueling, Harry deposited his books to a far corner and took the time to roll up his own sleeves as he withdrew his wand from his pocket and stood to face Dumbledore.
"We're going to spar Harry, but it's not going to be a nice, polite wizard’s duel. I want you to fight me as if I was the enemy and I'm going to treat you the same. When we duel we are no longer friends, and I am no longer your mentor. I am what you fear most, and you are likewise unto me. Understand?"
Harry didn't know if he liked the sound of that because Dumbledore was much more experienced with magic and battles, but he nodded his head in agreement and then stood, tensed and waiting for Dumbledore to move.
When Harry was blasted back against the wall he crumpled onto the ground in surprise, barely hearing Dumbledore's words over the ringing in his ears, "Never let your opponent have the first shot."
Harry scrambled out of the way and fought to clear his head as another spell whizzed past him and exploded upon an old statue behind him. He's going to kill me if he doesn't watch out. Harry thought as he dived behind a chair and did a quick bit of transfiguration.
Dumbledore grinned as Harry walked out from behind the chair. "Giving up so soon, Harry?" Dumbleodre questioned as he blasted Harry with a full body bind. Only to find his own feet lifted from the floor as he was slammed against the wall.
The real Harry appeared from behind the chair and he grinned slyly, proud that the coffee table he had transfigured had been a good enough likeness to fool Dumbledore.
"Most admirable use of transfiguration, Harry, Minerva would be proud." Dumbledore said as he sent a stunning curse in Harry's direction and scrambled to his feet.
The stunning spell hit Harry squarely in the chest and he grimaced as he was knocked from his feet once more, the back of his head collided roughly with the edge of a table. Groaning from the hurt, Harry rolled to his side and scrambled to take cover behind something. As much as it had hurt, Harry had endured much greater pain from Voldemort and still managed to escape.
It was then that a bell rang and Harry sighed in relief. Class was over.
"Okay, Harry, that's good for today, I'll see you back here tomorrow." And with that the Headmaster walked from the room as if they'd just had a pleasant conversation for the past hour and a half.
Harry grimaced as he got to his feet, collected his books, and pocketed his wand. His body was screaming from where he'd been slammed up against the wall of the classroom and his head was throbbing from where he'd hit it over the table. Harry dreaded what he would have to endure in Occlumency because it was sure to simply add on to the cuts and bruises that he'd received from Dumbledore.
When he walked in to Snape's classroom he caught the look of surprise on his bondmate's face and he inwardly felt a bit satisfied to see that Snape did in fact seem to take notice of his well-being.
"Rough class with Albus I take it?" Snape said as he came out from around his desk and approached Harry.
"Something like that." Harry said as he sat down at one of the desk's and cradled his head in his hands, freezing when he felt one of Snape's hands on his neck and head, checking for bruising and cuts. The Potion Master's fingers were soft and cool, a welcome touch to the throbbing taking place at the base of his skull.
Snape frowned at the swelling he felt at the base of Harry's head and with a few murmured words he touched his wand to the area and was satisfied when it healed and returned to normal.
"Better?" He questioned.
"Yeah."
"What else is hurt?" Snape questioned and Harry found their entire situation awkward. It was like asking Snape to kiss it and make it better.
Harry sighed, "My whole body hurts; I was slammed into a stone wall." Harry noticed that Snape apparently didn't care to know the details because when he'd finished another healing spell on Harry's body he cleared room, leaving a large space for him and Harry to work.
"Let's begin your occlumency lesson." He said simply and with a groan Harry rose to his feet and once again withdrew his wand from his pocket.
Snape slammed Harry with a rush of memories so fast that Harry felt he was drowning as he tried to shut his Professor and bondmate out of his head, but to no avail. When Harry opened his eyes it was to find Snape standing over him with a look of irritation on his face.
"You really suck at this Potter." He commented.
Harry made a face at him and then slowly rose to his feet, "Again."
Snape walked back a ways and then before he'd even turned his back Harry felt the man delving into his mind, but this time Harry was better prepared and as pictures of Sirius falling through the Veil flashed before his eyes he growled and shoved Snape from his mind.
Finding himself once again on his knees, Harry growled and stood, sweat causing his shirt to stick to his back, "Again."
Snape's eyebrow raised as he tooked in the defensive stance of his bondmate. Harry's shoulders were set, his fists clenched with determination. The first time they'd tried occlumency Harry had not shown an ounce of real determination or desire to master the art, but the way he was driving himself this time was almost admirable.
"Legilimens!" Severus hissed with a snap of his wand.
This time Harry's anger and frustration were a blessing and a curse as he thrust Severus from his mind, but also produced a stunning curse as well and blasted his Professor from his feet and sent him sprawling on the floor.
Harry looked at Snape with shock as he hurried over to help him to his feet, waiting with baited breath for the cursing and lecturing that he would receiving, but he was highly surprised to find that Snape awarded him with neither.
"Very good, Potter, that's what you were supposed to be doing the last time we tried occlumency, but you shouldn't have to get angry to be able to keep someone from your mind. Try concentrating on something, one thing, and then the intruder in your mind will only see the picture that you hold in your mind and will be able to get no further." Snape said and then snatched Harry's wand from his hand, "Although you won't need your wand this time ... I don't want to end up on the floor again."
Harry nodded and retreated from his mate and returned to the other side of the room, and with his back still turned to Severus he managed to pick up the word "Legilimens" as Snape had whispered it softly.
Picturing a brick wall, Harry fought to keep the image up in his mind, but with each poke and prod that Severus made towards breaking the wall Harry growled and grew more irritated, and then finally he growled back, "LEGILIMENS!" Thrusting out his hand in Snape's direction Harry found that the curse reversed itself and he forcefully broke through the wall surrounding Snape's memories and thoughts.
With a great sadness of heart Harry watched as a memory from the day before played over. It was the argument between Harry and Snape when Harry had told Snape that he was a hooked-nose git, and what really surprised Harry about the memory was that he could feel Snape's hurt over the comment.
Then with a thrust he was jerked from Severus' mind and at the same time sent sprawling onto the ground. Blinking up at the ceiling, Harry panted for air, and looked over to see that Snape was doubled over, his hands on his knees as he too gasped for air. Harry also saw that the man avoided looking in his direction and Harry assumed that he was embarrassed over the memory that Harry had found in Snape's mind.
"You had no right in my mind, Potter." Snape spat between gasps for air and then he walked from the dungeon and slammed the door behind him.
Harry stayed where he was until he regained his breath.
Leaving the potions classroom he trudged to the room that he and Severus shared and entered the portrait quietly, not surprised when he found the common room empty and the fire crackling loudly in the silence. Walking through, Harry dropped his books onto the couch and then continued to Snape's room. Pushing the man's door open he found it empty, and then he heard the sound of water against tiles and knew that Severus was taking a shower.
After a moment of deliberation, Harry stepped into the bathroom and quietly undressed. Padding silently to the shower he slid the door back and stepped in behind Severus, knowing that the man knew he was there but was refusing to acknowledge his presence.
Severus had his arms braced on the shower wall and was allowing the water to pound over him. He'd known the moment Harry entered the bathroom, but he'd hoped that the Gryffindor would continue on his way. Severus was not in the mood to play the role of a loving and supportive mate, but fortunately for Severus, Harry was.
Harry wrapped his arms around Severus' waist from behind and kissed the older man's shoulder, "I'm sorry. When we do occlumency I have little control over what spells I cast. I hate it when people get into my mind, and I promise that I'll stay out of yours. It won't happen again."
Severus nodded to let Harry know that he accepted the apology, but remained silent and Harry knew that it would be the closest thing to acceptance that he would get. The Death Eater's pride had been wounded and Harry only hoped that he really took the apology to heart and would get over the incident fairly quick, because Harry was becoming all too aware of the fact that he was becoming dependent on the strength and wisdom of his bondmate.
