Disclaimer: I don’t own Harry Potter. I do not gain any profit or benefits from writing fan fics of any kind. The only thing I own is any original characters you don’t recognize from Harry Potter. |
CDGaymer: You’re going to see just how Ginny will be served and pissed.
Tee: For some reason, Lucius Malfoy makes me think of a lawyer. Scary sight.M-Lee: Thank you very much. It’s hard to look away once you start reading. I’ve been writing for longer than I can remember. I can still remember how silly my writing was back when I was younger. I hope you enjoy this new chapter.starr: Oh, be assured that Lucius won’t be holding back any punches from Ginny. The way I see it for Hermione’s behavior is that she’s a first time mother and I imagine she would nervous about every little thing. You know, the type of parent that hovers and freaks out about a paper cut. I was actually originally planning to have a shouting match between Draco and Harry, but decided the make out would be more Draco’s style.moodysavage: Ooh. Accidental fire caused by a nightmare? Hmm. I hadn’t thought about that one. Hmm… Glad you liked the chapter title. All those factors playing into Harry retreating. Because I agree. A younger Harry would have defended himself, finding somehow to prove it. But I figured everything else going on would hurt him more.djaddict: I didn’t want to be predictable and have it be Severus or Draco that got Harry to talk. Glad you enjoyed the chapter.ChaosLady: Thanks!cullengal101: Thanks and I sure will.Chapter 11Sweet and Sour
It had been a quiet two days. A reluctant Draco had left on an Unspeakable mission to parts unknown. Meanwhile, Severus had traveled with Harry to Malfoy Manor to speak with Lucius. The Malfoy patriarch had explained the legal proceedings with Harry and discussed the charges they should press on with against Ginerva Weasley. It turned out that wizarding court cases were a bit more difficult than the average cases you saw on the muggle television show, Law and Order. It had been intense during those visits. Harry had been forced to take several breaks in between their discussions. He felt horrible for what he was about to put the Weasley’s through, especially when they had just enough money to live comfortably. The pain eased a bit when Lucius told Harry that Ginny had been working the past two a half years as a Chaser for the Holyhead Harpies; she could afford a good lawyer. Now the only guilt was with Thanksgiving looming close.Right now, Harry was sitting up on a work bench in Severus’ Potions lab. Harry frowned. Draco had assured him he had permission to call the two Slytherins by their first names. It would have been especially hard for Harry when both Malfoy’s were in the room.“If you frown any further, your face may get stuck that way.”Harry smiled. Severus was brewing some potions for the apothecary in Diagon Alley. His potions door was open and he had permitted Harry to sit on the table where he could hand him ingredients. Harry looked down at the paper in his hands. Harry had nearly broken out into tears when Draco had given Daniela’s drawing to him.“What are you working on?” Harry asked, without looking up from the drawing.“A simple Blood-Replenishing Potion and a Pepperup Potion,” Severus answered.Despite his low aptitude for potions, Harry remembered that the two potions were both simple. This was probably why Severus was okay with Harry being in the lab and sitting on the table. Harry glanced down at the table and spotted the vial with his potion in it. He put the drawing gently aside before carefully picking up the vial. He held it down in his lap, swirling the contents with the twirl of his wrist.“I thought I had made the potion the way I wanted it,” Harry murmured.Glancing over at Harry’s bowed head, Severus put down his ladle and cast stasis charms over both cauldrons. He rolled his shirt sleeves back up to his elbows as he walked across the lab to Harry. He stopped next to the table and bent his head down beside Harry’s. His gaze wavered between Harry’s face and the potions vial.“Was it your intent to go to sleep, never to wake again?” Severus asked.Harry sighed. “Yes. I hoped to brew it so I had nothing but good dreams. My body was supposed to shut down faster the longer that no one found me.”So the potion had had a time release on it. Once Harry had ingested it, his body would deteriorate faster. It was a potion that would have ensured his success, had Kingsley not been prompt in finding him. Truthfully, out of a variety of ways to leave this world, Harry’s potion was a more peaceful way to go.“There’s nothing wrong, Harry, with wanting good dreams. How have your dreams been lately?” Severus asked as he gently took the potion from Harry.Severus raised an eyebrow when he saw a blush spread across the younger wizard’s face. He murmured that his dreams had been okay. Severus straightened up to give Harry his personal space, but he still laid a hand down on Harry’s knee. His other hand came up to sweep Harry’s hair away from his forehead.“No nightmares?”Harry shook his head. Actually, the last couple of nights, he had dreamt of nothing but that kiss Draco had given him. It just replayed over and over in his head. Harry mumbled under his breath, but Severus was unable to hear him.“Say again?” Severus asked.Harry mumbled a little louder. This time, Severus was able to catch snippets of “Draco” and “kiss.” Smiling, Severus resisted the urge to chuckle. Before leaving on his mission, Draco had bragged to him about getting the chance to kiss their little lion first.“Did it upset you that Draco kissed you?” Severus asked.Even though the kiss was what contributed to convincing Harry to come home with them, Severus wanted to make sure he was okay. The last thing he wanted was for them to rush Harry too quickly.“It was…nice,” Harry admitted.Severus stepped closer to press a kiss to the top of Harry’s head.“It’s okay to be nervous, Harry. We’re not going to push you. And if we do anything you’re not comfortable with, you only need say so and we will stop,” Severus told him.Harry bit his bottom lip. He seemed to be contemplating something so Severus brought his hand down from his hair. He laid his hands down on the table on either side of Harry. After thinking for a few seconds, Harry lifted his head to lock eyes with him.“Can I…ask for things, too?” Harry asked.Severus noticed that Harry was wringing his hands together again. The Potions Master had surmised that it was something the former Gryffindor did when he was extremely nervous.“Yes, we will gladly give you things as well. If it is in our power to do so,” Severus answered.Severus sighed when Harry dropped his head back down. It was obvious the brunette wanted to ask for something, but his anxiety wouldn’t allow him to ask freely. Severus hoped they could work on that together to break the lion out of his shell. Severus didn’t want to force Legilimency on him so he had to deduce for himself what it was Harry wanted. He thought about Harry mentioning the kiss with Draco and wondered if he was going out on a limb with his thinking. Taking a leaf out of Draco’s book, Severus tipped Harry’s head up with a hand under his chin. Seeing a small twinkle of fear in the emerald orbs, Severus leaned down and closed the distance between them. Harry’s eyes slowly slid closed as their lips connected. The kiss was very different from Draco’s. This kiss was light and slow. Severus allowed Harry to set the pace. After a second or two, a small tip of a tongue tapped his lips and he opened his mouth. It was a slow exploration of the older wizard’s mouth as the Potions Master weaved a hand back through thick, brown hair.Harry couldn’t hold back a small groan. He couldn’t help it with his tongue being sucked on simultaneously with a hand gently raking over his head. His body relaxed and he relinquished control. They traded the kiss back and forth. It was a wet kiss, but Harry thanked every god above that it wasn’t like the wet kiss with Cho.Before long, the kiss ended. Severus leaned his forehead against Harry’s, their lips not far apart as Harry lightly panted.“Is that what you wanted?” Severus whispered.Harry smiled sheepishly. Severus chuckled before pressing a kiss to Harry’s forehead. It was right where his famous scar was. Harry shivered with tingles up his back. Despite him not liking people touching it, the scar always felt nice when someone else touched it.“How about a treat today?” Severus asked.“What kind of treat?” Harry asked.Severus smiled.“Seeing as it is a weekend, I’m sure Albus doesn’t yet have lunch plans. I know he’d like very much to see you,” Severus said.It took a moment of silence before Harry gave his response.“I’d like that, too.”/……/
Kingsley stood silently outside the wards of the Burrow. He had access to walk onto the Weasley’s property, but he was having a hard time going. He knew that the Weasley family was sitting down for lunch and that Ginny was home for it. Finally, he summoned up the courage and crossed over the wards.
Arthur met him at the kitchen’s small half-door. He opened the door with a big smile as he greeted his old friend with a hug.“Kingsley, so good to see you. It’s been what? Two months. Sit, sit. Join us for lunch,” Arthur told him.Kingsley managed to force a small smile to his face as he glanced about. Sitting around the table were the George, Molly, Ron, and Ginny. Charlie was still in Romania with the dragons while Bill worked days in Gringott’s. He wasn’t sure what Percy was up to. The only Weasley daughter sat the closest to where Kingsley stood.“No, thank you, Arthur. I’m here on official Auror business,” Kingsley explained. As predicted, Ron snapped to his feet in an instant. Kingsley held up his hand.“Not you, Ron. I’m here for Ginny. I have a court summons,” Kingsley explained, pulling a folded paper out of his robes.Ginny huffed loudly as she lazily reached out to take it from him. She rolled her eyes as she started unwrapping the ribbon tied around it.“It’s probably that fan again that accused me of whacking a bludger towards him in the game last month,” Ginny said.Molly frowned as she put down a bowl in the center of the table. She picked up a tablecloth to wipe at her hands before walking down the side of the table to her husband.“If it involved the team, wouldn’t the summons go to the team lawyer?” Molly asked.Arthur was wondering the exact same thing. He touched Kingsley’s arm, urging him to turn around to speak to him again. However, before either man could speak, Ginny suddenly exploded.“WHAT THE BLOOD FUCKING HELL IS THIS?!”Ron and George stared in horror as their sister continued to curse up a storm. She threw the summons down as she pushed back from the table. She jerked to her feet with a fierce look to kill on her face.“Ginerva Weasley, you curb that tongue of yours. That is no way to speak at the lunch table,” Molly scolded her.George bravely reached out and snatched up the court summons. He flipped it open to read it while Ron looked over his shoulder. Ginny glared at her mother before turning her lethal look on Kingsley.“You have to be bloody kidding me,” Ginny growled.Kingsley shook his head.“I’m not. I suggest you get a good lawyer. They’ll need to appear in court in three days for opening arguments. You yourself don’t need to be present for that first day,” Kingsley informed her.Kingsley did the unthinkable and glanced away from Ginny. Ron was gone from the table while George was staring down at the papers with an unreadable expression. Kingsley thought he heard Ron on the floo in the next room.Probably speaking to his wife, Kingsley thought.“Ginny.”Ginny snapped her head around with a growl of, “What?” George slowly stood up from the table while holding the papers up.“Are these charges right?” George asked.Ginny planted her hands on her hips, very similar to her mother’s actions.“How dare you ask me that?! I gave him my best years and now he sues me. I ought to counter-sue him back for daring to smear our family’s name like this,” Ginny snarled. Both Molly and Arthur stared at their daughter in surprise. They had never seen their daughter this enraged before. Not even during the war when Harry had run off with Hermione and Ron, but not her. Sick of his sister’s behavior, George threw the papers down onto the table. He glared fiercely at her.“That doesn’t answer my question. Are these…charges…right?” George demanded.“They are,” Kingsley interrupted. “And there’s proof.”Ginny let out a wordless sneer over her shoulder at him. George nodded his head to Kingsley.“Thanks, King. Mom, Dad, I have an owl to go write. I’ll come over for lunch another day,” George apologized before leaving the room.Fed up with not getting any information, Molly flew around the table. She snatched up the paper before Ginny could dive for them. She held up her hand to keep her daughter back. Her gaze flew across the paper. Kingsley thought of slipping away while he could, except Arthur was blocking his closest exit.Molly gasped. Oh shit. Too late now. Molly apparently had reached the part of the document where it listed the person suing as…“Harry?!” Molly gasped.Arthur lowered his eyebrows. “Harry what?”Molly and Ginny shot him annoyed looks. He gave them a startled look of confusion. Kingsley patted Arthur’s arm.“Harry is the one suing Ginny,” Kingsley told him, calmly.Arthur’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “For what?”Molly looked back down at the document and read the charges out loud.Conspiracy against more than one pureblood family.Providing false testimony to government agencies.
Extortion.
First-degree Arson.
Murder in the Fourth Degree (Creatures, Magical and Non-Magical).
“Why is Harry doing this? Ginny would never do any of these things,” Molly gasped.Ginny crossed her arms over her chest and sulked.“I’m sorry, Molly, but I can’t discuss an ongoing case. If you have any questions, have Ginny’s lawyer contact Lucius.”Molly’s eyebrows shot up and Ginny spun around with her arms slapped down by her sides.Oh double shit, now he’d done it.“MALFOY? HARRY HAS LUCIUS BLOODY MALFOY SPEAKING FOR HIM?!”/……/
For the fifth time in the last half hour, Harry found Albus smiling at him. The three wizards had ate lunch up in the Headmaster’s Office and now they were walking along the grounds. It was a Hogsmeade weekend so there very few students looming around the campus. Severus had explained to Albus all that had happened recently with Harry adding a few tidbits. The Headmaster’s smile had brightened more when he had heard the younger wizard speaking.
As they came down to the y-shape with Hagrid’s cottage off to the left, Albus pointed over to the greenhouses.“You’ll find someone there I’m sure will be happy to see you,” Albus told him.Trading a glance with Severus, Harry walked down the path to the greenhouses. He spotted a figure in the second greenhouse and went inside. The greenhouse was full of a thick variety of plants. He found the figure tending to a smaller, potted plant. He was speaking softly to the small plant which was swaying like a ballerina. When the wizard turned around, Harry smiled. The wizard glanced up and gasped when he saw Harry. Slowly, he put the pot down and took a few steps forwards.Harry chuckled. “Hi, Nev.”Neville’s face lit up as he stepped forward and threw his arms around Harry. The brunette stiffened for a moment, but then relaxed when he remembered it was only Neville. When he pulled back, Neville clapped him on the back.“It’s so good to see you, Harry. I haven’t seen you in years. I guess Albus told you I was down here.” Neville chuckled. “Albus. I can never quite get over calling him that.”Harry chuckled.“I know the feeling. How have you been, Neville?” Harry asked.Neville was evidently very good. After the war, he had finished school and gone on for his Mastery in Herbology. He went on to study with Professor Sprout and was soon added onto the staff as co-teacher for Herbology. He taught years one through four and Professor Sprout taught the upper years and NEWT-level students.Harry noticed a wedding band on Neville’s hand.“Who’s the lucky witch, Nev?” Harry asked.Harry’s eyebrows flew up when Neville told him he was married to Luna Lovegood. They had married a few years ago, during the time that Harry was traveling.“We’re actually expecting right now,” Neville said, glowing with great pride.Harry had a dense Gryffindor moment and asked, “Expecting what?”Neville broke out laughing. It took a few moments for Harry to realized what Neville had been saying to him before he laughed, too. After the two of them had a good laugh, they calmed down and had a seat down on a bench in the greenhouse.“We’re expecting a little boy. He’s due in January. We were…we were hoping you’d be the Godfather, actually,” Neville said, blushing.Harry was stunned speechless. He had done such a piss poor job being a Godfather to Daniela. He wasn’t sure he’d do much better with a boy. Neville was quick to reassure him.“We don’t need an answer right away. Think about it and let us know,” Neville said.Harry agreed to think on it. He stared off as Neville started talking all about his job./……/
Harry had been quiet since returning from his visit with Neville. Severus had wanted to question him, but decided against it. If Harry wanted to tell him, then he would. He turned the page he finished reading when he heard the toilet flush. He heard the familiar sounds of someone washing their hands, drying them and leaving the bathroom.
He expected Harry to climb onto the bed, but instead the shorter wizard walked around to his side of the bed. Severus kept his gaze on his page, waiting for Harry to speak first. He didn’t have to wait long before Harry spoke.“Neville married Luna. They’re going to have a baby after Christmas. They’ve asked to be the Godfather.”Severus marked his place and set his book aside. He took Harry’s hand in his and pulled. Harry allowed himself to be pulled sideways to sit on Severus’ lap. Harry laid his head down on Severus’ clothed chest and closed his eyes when the large, gentle hand started running through his hair. Severus gently pulled apart tangles and scratched gently at the wizard’s head.“That’s very nice of them to consider you for Godfather of their firstborn. But how does that make you feel?” Severus whispered.Harry trembled on his lap. Severus reached his free hand under his pillow for his wand. He flicked his wrist at the covers so they would come up to flow across Harry’s lap. Then he returned his wand to its safe hiding place.“I…I’m not really sure. I love Daniela and I know it wasn’t my fault with the fire.” Harry paused. “But what about my enemies? The ones still out there. They could target Daniela and Neville & Luna’s child, because I’m their Godfather.”Severus was pleased to hear that Harry wasn’t blaming himself for the fire. His concern was a valid one, but considering who the parents were of each child…“I don’t think you should worry about your friends. Like you, they are all survivors. They can handle anything or anyone that comes at them. And you would be surprised how protective a parent can be over their young cub.”Harry’s chuckle died out with a jaw-popping yawn. He nuzzled his face against Severus’ chest. Severus smiled while pressing a kiss to the top of Harry’s head.“I’ll think on it. Thank you…Severus.”The side of his mouth twitched into a bigger smile. It warmed his heart to hear Harry address him by his first name, not his family name. Harry stole his breath away when he lifted his head to give a soft, sleepy kiss. Severus returned the embrace and snuggled down into the coves with the smaller wizard quickly descending into the land of sleep.Spreading his legs apart, Severus allowed Harry to fully lie on top of him. Hearing a steady heartbeat under his ear and the up & down motion of his pillow lulled Harry off to his sleep. Having the heavy weight on top of him and the feel of soft hair through his fingers, it didn’t take long for Severus to follow him./……/
As the wizarding world drifted off to sleep, one witch was cursing up a storm in her flat. Ginny was frustrated beyond all belief. The team’s lawyer had refused to take the case, citing that it wasn’t team-related. How could it not be team-related when her good name would be dragged through the mud by the papers and the team name, too?!
She screamed in frustration. Her wand flicked towards a priceless painting, incinerating the frame and ripping the art into shreds. Now, because of her ex-husband, her family was divided.Bill and Fleur believed that Harry shouldn’t be suing her, both agreeing that if Harry has a problem then he should speak privately with Ginny. George had taken her off the wards around the shop and refused to speak to her. Owls from Charlie and Percy had come back with no reply; she didn’t know what their thoughts were. Ron was shockingly quiet about the event after having spoken with Hermione. Her parents….her parents were on somewhat even ground. Molly whined about why was Harry doing this and why couldn’t he have talked to them. Arthur pondered over what Ginny was being charged with.Did Harry have a pet? Is that where the Fourth Degree murder came from? For the extortion, had something happened during the divorce proceedings? Arson – what had she set fire to that would make it First Degree? And what about the false testimony and conspiracy?Ginny had forced a grin to her face to keep from screaming at her father. She slammed her wand down on the kitchen counter top as she grabbed a drink out of the fridge. She popped the bottle open, snatched a glass out of the cupboard, and poured herself a generous amount. She threw it down nearly in a single cup before slamming the glass down hard. It was a wonder the poor glass didn’t crack. On the next sip, it was slower and calculated. When she brought the glass down slowly to the counter, her hand pulled away to lift her shirt. She ran her hand across her stomach. A wicked smirk passed over her face.“If that’s the way you want to play it, Potter…then so be it. Say goodbye to that peace and quiet you wanted so badly. Because I’m about to turn your world upside down.”End of Chapter ElevenSweet and Sour
