After they showered and ate, Ron and Pansy began the short walk to Hogsmeade with Misty coming along with them.
The owl post was first. There ended up being almost forty five invitations to send. Ron paid extra to have them send immediately.
The market was next. Ron made arrangements to keep an open account that enabled Misty to do the shopping if needed. When the food for the reception was purchased, Misty took it back to the house while Ron and Pansy then turned to the jewelers shop.
It looked as dated as Ollivander’s wand shop, but Ron liked stores that had antique appearances. It meant that they were successful and knowledgeable and didn’t waste time with useless decorations.
“Hello. May I help you?” An elderly wizard approached them, and Ron was reminded of Filch, but Filch would never smile.
“We are getting married Friday.” Ron told him, slipping his arm around Pansy. “We need rings.”
“Ah, best wishes to both. Come, let me show you what I have.” They followed him to a counter, where he pulled out a black box. He pulled off the cover and revealed several wedding sets. Some plain, and others very detailed. Pansy leaned forward, and seconds later let out a gasp. While many of them had diamonds and various stones, she was focused on a simple set. Gold bands, with a small silver band on top. As he looked closer Ron saw the silver band, had written in perfect script, “Blessed Be My Love.” They were perfect.
They were spelled to the right size and put into a case. Ron offered her and engagement ring but Pansy refused. Her family saw engagement rings as displays of worth. They were often judged and scrutinized by others. She didn’t need a huge diamond from Ron to show his devotion or intent. His words and actions were enough.
Ron placed the rings securely in his pocket, sealing it with his wand. Clothes were next on the itinerary. It was going to be a casual gathering in the gardens, so dress robes were not needed. Pansy had more of a pretty summer dress in mind. Ron planned on a shirt and trousers to match her dress when she found it.
Pansy knew where she wanted to go. She went here a few times when she was a student. ‘Lacy’s’ had lovely dresses as well as dress robes. She was glad Ron was along. She didn’t want to show up with anything he didn’t like. She wanted him to like the way she looked on their wedding day.
She was beginning to get frustrated, not finding what she wanted, until she heard Ron’s voice, “How about this one?” He was holding up a dress from the display behind her. It was ivory, with a flared skirt at knee length. The hem border was black, as well the straps. The skirt was decorated with large black leaves and had shiny silver sequins scattered along the pattern. She could see that the bodice was fitted and would give her breasts a lifted look. She knew Ron would love that.
“Oh, that’s lovely.” With help from the salesgirl, she tried it on and had it fitted and hemmed to the perfect length. She stepped out of the room to show Ron.
He was speechless for a moment. The salesgirl smiled at his reaction. He stared at Pansy for several moments. “She’ll take it.”
Pansy glowed as they left the store, her dress carried by Ron. “Where do you want to go for your clothes?” She asked.
“I don’t know. What’s around here.” He said.
“You don’t have a store in mind?”
“I don’t shop for clothes, dress clothes especially. I need your help.” He admitted.
Pansy thought for a minute then smiled. “I know where to go.” She led him to a small shop not too far from the one they just left.
It seemed even smaller inside, until Ron saw that there was another room in the back. A young man came out of the other room. “Hello, I’m Aaron, can I help you.”
“We’re getting married on Friday.” Pansy told him.
“Lucky girl, this one is a dish.” Aaron said, giving Ron a wink. Ron blushed and smiled. He wasn’t insulted, Ron had no problems with gay men, but flattery was always embarrassing for him no matter who it came from.
Pansy shared a smile with Aaron, then unzipped her dress as Ron held it for her. “We aren’t wearing formal dress robes, but I was thinking maybe a nice shirt and trousers to go with my dress.”
“Oh, this is wonderful. You are going to look gorgeous, trust me.” He said, then looked at Pansy. “You’ll look great too, just come with me.” Pansy held in a giggle as Ron blushed harder.
In the back room Aaron had already pulled out a pair of black trousers and had a curtain pulled aside.
“Now try these on, then we’ll fit them to you.” Ron slipped into the room, while Pansy spoke with Aaron.
“Aaron, you’re not from England.” She noted, as she looked at shirts he was showing her.
“No. I’m from America. My mother moved her to marry her boyfriend a few years ago. I can’t leave, I just love England. The men here are just beautiful.” Pansy took him in. He had a light frame, and short spiky brown hair. Pansy noticed he had a tendency to lean to the side rather than standing straight up. His face was fixed with a perpetual smile, and it was contagious.
Ron came out of the room wearing the trousers and nothing else. Aaron and Pansy turned around to see a shirtless Ron. “You might have given a man a warning.” The obvious flirtations were becoming easier to deal with, and Ron just stood there as Pansy showed him some of the shirts.
Ron slipped on the ivory shirt, but when she saw it on, Pansy was less than impressed. Aaron suggested black shirt and black trousers, saying it would make the ivory in the dress stand out.
Pansy loved the look. Ron in all black was stunning. His red hair looked all the more vibrant in dark colors, and in all black, the dress would look brilliant. Ron smiled at her reaction and they left the store with another package in hand.
When they got home, Pansy hung their clothes in the wardrobe. She took a moment to admire the nice compliment they made to each other. Who says white is the only wedding color?
She moved to the front room to find Ron reading a parchment. His face was serious. She looked to the window and froze when she saw her parent’s owl sitting on the sill.
