The pensive swirled and they were transported to a terrible scene. They looked to be behind the HogsMead Tavern. There was a family corned against a cobbled wall and the tavern. Where the corners met was a man with slightly frizzy hair and the Hermione shuddered “that’s Dad” he was unconscious. A burn on his chest. A woman was back against what seemed to be a garden wall not 3 metres away from him. In her arms she cradles an infant. Tears were streaming down her face “Tom…please…why…Geoffrey..” she looked to the man who was unconscious and the dark haired man put his wand under her cheek “You’ve got more pressing problems Faith” He was cold then angry “Where is she? Where’s that so called brave Gryffindor” He was yelling so loud the baby cried” Well, well seems none of you girls can keep their opinions to themselves. The women was terrified “Please Tom…” He laughed “Now you pay attention” he was sneering “too late” He looked at the child and the women near went to pieces “It’s a smart one, might change that oblivi..” He didn’t get to finish. A blast knocked him flying. It was extremely powerful and the sight of the witch who cast it “awesome” Ron whispered “You coward!” She hissed. The wizard laughed, “Kill them!” Suddenly Death eaters were everywhere. A light emanated from the witch creating a shield absorbing the blast. It was only when the two witches where near each other could you see the resemblance. The one generating the shield went to the unconscious man. She shook him “Geoffrey, Geoffrey! Please wake up. I…” She was distracted and the shield faltered. She was hit but instead of being propelled forward onto the unconscious man she was dragged back into the arms of the dark wizard. He ordered the Death Eaters “Fall back” but his focused was clearly on the witch pinned between him and the wall “Give yourself to me and I will spare them” She stopped fighting his grip and he kissed her and her hands went behind his back. Suddenly a pocket watch appeared. Hermione was entranced. Next thing she stamped his foot and kneed him. The shield reappeared and she apparated. The dark Wizard turned and sneered at the family trapped and protected. “Death Eaters hit them with all you got” Hermione started to shake and both Ronald and Harry held a hand each. Suddenly “Sirius and Malfoy” Ron was incredulous. Sirius Black and Lucius Malfoy arrived. They attacked the Death Eaters from behind and the witch reappeared with the family and the dark Wizard swooped but she was ready and had him cold, then a blast from a dark alley hit her Hermione cried out “Peter” and it was. Peter Pettigrew had hit the witch from behind and her wand went flying. She seemed to cringe but stayed on her feet and a light came from her hands throwing the Dark Wizard back hard. He noticed something. It was the pocket watch that must have been dropped. The witch looked momentarily shocked as he picked it up, but then whispered something under her breath and the Dark Wizard was thrown violently out into the street. She looked at the watch, which now was some distance away and ran back to the family. Three brooms appeared. The women with the child frantically shook her head. Next thing Sirius and Lucius appeared by her side. “Get them out of here” She dragged the woman and child over to the unconscious man and the women cried “Please don’t sphlint us” The witch looked at her “Never I would rather die first” With that they were gone but it wasn’t over. The dark wizard hit Malfoy who got up and retaliated. The battle wasn’t going to good for the Dark Wizard. He yelled to the Death Eaters “Get the Potters.” Lucius yelled to Sirius “Go to James. The bastard’s trying to kill our kids” Lucius was outnumbered but fought valiantly. He was left battered and the Dark Wizard encased him in a bubble. He laughed “I’m going to kill Potter then I’ll come back for you. You think being a father’s so great.’ And the wizard cast a spell “If I don’t kill him you will” Lucius was consumed by a green glow and the dark wizard left. Lucius cried out in agony and Narcissa appeared. She reached for him and the bubble burst. She held him and they apparated. Next thing all three were back in the room were they all sat down stunned. “Here” her Aunt handed each a cup of hot chocolate. They were all shaking. Finally Hermione spoke “That coward” they all nodded “I’m showing this sometime during the debrief to show what kind of person he was and I did not want you to have to worry about blowing your cover.” Harry frowned “What about Lucius” Colleen nodded “One battle at a time, but that explains a lot. He hasn’t killed Draco…yet” Harry frowned “Can he go to HogWarts early?” Colleen shook her head “Don’t panic Harry, Lucius and Narcissa are confined and will be until Draco leaves for HogWarts. I hope to show him this tonight” Harry looked deadly serious “He outghta know” .She knelt in front of Hermione. “Are you okay, I mean can you handle another pensive. It’s not as graphic as that. You know he stole that memory off Peter so it might have haunted Pettigrew. Ron asked an obvious question “Those two in there are you and Hermione’s mum right ?” she nodded “But you look so different “We both altered our appearance to escape. I’ve altered mine as up to a few months ago I was still wanted for my parents murder. Riddle did it of course but I was found guilty and I didn’t want to go to Azkaban so they were hunting for me. Arthur sorted it for me when he got access. He’s a good sort.” They sat in silence “I’m hungry ” said the older witch suddenly and they had a bite eat. After about 40 minutes they looked nervously at the next pensive. The three friends held hands and found themselves in the Gryffindor Common room.

A flash and the witch appeared slumping to the ground. They saw Professor McGonnagall look to the side and then run over to the girl “Colleen” She helped the girl up and the young witch started shaking. My sister had the baby and …” Professor McGonnagall paled. “He found you” The girl nodded “I got them out but Geoffrey’s in a bad way. He won’t wake up.” She tried to hold back a sob “I apparated them but Riddle’s going after the Potters and…there were dozens of them…” she looked at the professor pleading “I need help but if the Ministry finds out you …”Professor McGonnagall cut her off “You can perform a memory charm…” the girl gasped “But…”

“I trust you. Let me help.” The girl nodded “But…a pensive…please professor I don’t won’t to take…” Professor McGonnagall nodded. “Alright I’ll do that” they watched the young witch as she got out Hermione’s pocket watch and a small bag placing the item and instructions with it. The witch chanted “For the one of our family line so that she may use time, sleep til then and til she’s here just tick along from year to year” She clapped her hands together and it glowed. McDonnaggal appeared and an explosion was heard. “They’re looking for you” Colleen nodded “I need the enrollment book”. McGonaggel didn’t answer merely holding her hand out. The book arrived “When the time is right go and call, the Wilson child to HogWarts Halls, Whatever name you are given, hold it dear ‘til age eleven. Send the owl of the Wilson clan who shall find her in this very land of parents who seem muggle born, these are those of the house no more. The name has died but the spirit’s strong, a new name will be sent along. Ut phoenix, ex cineribus resurgam” The room glowed and the girl nearly collapsed. Professor Mcgonnaggel steadied her and handed a basket to the girl. The witch looked up at the Professor who had finished storing the incident, absolutely crest fallen; “I’m so sorry professor ‘Obliviate’” and with that she disappeared. Movement in the corner of the room caught Ron Harry and Hermione’s attention. Albus Dumbledore appeared and Professor McGonnaggel jumped as a huge commotion could be heard. ”They’re here for Colleen, we can’t let them get her…” A piece of paper appeared and Dumbledore showed McGonnagall. Tears formed in her eyes “That beautiful family…”

The three of them sat on the couch stunned. And Colleen addressed them “I was running from Azkaban” Harry looked at her then Hermione and he got up and hugged her “Thankyou for saving my best friend” The older witch sighed “Thank you” She turned to Hermione “I give you a little time to digest this” she looked at the friends. I’ll take Professor McGonnaggel’s pensive with me as I won’t show that at HogWarts.I’m sorry Hermione but I’ll need in my office at 7 if that’s okay” Ron spoke “What was in the basket?” Colleen smiled” Stuff to heal Geoffrey with. You know I never realised that Dumbledore was there. He was great” Harry agreed. “Okay then, good night people” They all looked at her “Goodnight”

Ronald jumped up “I’m hungry” Hermione groaned “ ‘course you are.” Hermione smiled “knock yourself out” Ronald gleefully hopped on the computer “Thankyou for being here” Harry put his arms around her shoulders. “That’s what friends are for” An hour later Hermione was home alone. McGonnaggal’s Pensive was gone. The galleon warmed and she read it “are you alone?”

“Yes”

“I’ll come over” With that her Aunt appeared. “Do you think we should show him?” Hermione looked at her Aunt “We should. It’s his life too and he might have some insight” Her Aunt smiled “I’ll summon him”
