Chapter 12 - Of goodbyes and mirrors.
The next morning in the great hall there was much whispering among the students of Hogwarts, the headmaster had not shown for breakfast, not only that but said meal arrived spoilt and ruined, it looked as though it had been on the plate for weeks.
Albus Dumbledore was currently at Gringotts wizarding bank, he had a meeting with the head goblin to see about extra funding for Hogwarts, or more likely his pockets. Unbeknown to him however the Hogwarts funds were now at the discretion of the heir.
By the time the headmaster returned to Hogwarts he was furious, somehow his lemon drops kept vanishing and everything else he ate turned into a not so lemon drop. He was starting to crave his candy. Not only that but Hogwarts had locked him out of his office this morning, and now even the portraits had stopped moving completely. To top it all off his staff, or should he say Harry’s staff kept sending him dirty looks. Not only that but he was locked out of the Hogwarts vaults.
Meanwhile whilst all this calamity was going on, in a room warded away from the rest of the castle’s population a rat like man was busy gathering intelligence for his lord. He was surprised that no one had found him by now but then he figured with the rest of the castle breaking down that he would be safest in one of the more damaged areas.
He had crept about through the halls in his animagus form of a rat and spied on the spy, he had even kept a close eye on the heir. Smirking to himself he felt proud, this was going to be easy, he thought.

Down in the kitchens all chaos had broken loose, it seemed that the preservation charms that kept the food fresh has worn off causing the food to rapidly spoil. Harry was in there now talking to the head house elf.
After he had finished it was established that the house elves would buy food on a daily basis until the castle was fixed. He made his way from the kitchens to the founder’s portrait room needing to speak to them.
It took a while but Harry finally made it to the portrait room only to receive the shock of his life. Albus Dumbledore was already there, and by the looks of it he was none too happy. Albus raised his wand in the direction of the founder’s portrait not knowing that our resident hero was standing hidden behind him. “This is all your fault”, the demented man spat at the portrait before he waved his wand casting reducto at it.
To his complete shock and Harry’s the portrait shattered, usually magical portraits had protection spells on them, but then he figured that the founder’s must have been so confident that they were invincible that they didn’t need them.
Harry stood there rooted to the spot, he was in complete shock, the founders were gone…..
Harry remained in the same spot for a split second before raising his wand in extreme anger at the old man. “STUPIFY” he bellowed. Dumbledore even though startled managed to dodge the attack and started to run surprisingly fast towards the entrance hall hoping to make his escape as he knew he would never win against the heir of Hogwarts.
Harry chased the headmaster through the castle, rushing past Severus who was just about to give detention to whoever had pushed him aside when he saw who was running and who he was pursuing. Severus shocked rushed after Harry to make sure he didn’t blow up the entire castle with them in it.
Dumbledore was just coming up to the main doors of the castle when an extremely powerful reducto sent him flying and blew a mini crater in the floor. The noise had brought out the students and staff from the great hall where they were eating their evening meal.
Harry spoke up loudly and clearly, “I Harry James Potter deem you Albus Dumbledore, current headmaster of Hogwarts to be unfit for duty, as heir it is my duty to remove you from your position and banish you from our prestigious halls”. As this was intoned magic from the ancient grounds the castle was built on swirled up and hit the former headmaster in the chest.
Harry blinked, Dumbledore was gone, the castle had banished him to the front gates with all his belongings including his lemon drop supply, which was quite large. Dumbledore looked up smugly, he had known this would happen and he had been prepared, in one swift and decisive move he waved his wand casting an unknown spell into the wards.
Harry was brought out of his musings by a loud screech, he rushed outside alongside the other members of staff to see that the wards surrounding the castle were failing completely, it was only a matter of hours before the castle would be vulnerable.
Harry rushed back inside on his way to the founders portrait room in the dire hopes that it could be fixed when he noticed in another picture was Merlin. Harry rushed over to Merlin in a panic. “Quickly heir you must make your way into the heart of Hogwarts”, Merlin rushed.
“The what”? Harry asked confused.
“The heart of Hogwarts, the founders and I wanted to wait until you had spoken to the castle before you used it, but there is no time for that now, if you don’t do something quickly the entire castle might be destroyed”.
“But what can I do there”? Harry asked in fright.
“You must use the heart to show you of the room before time”.
“Have you been sucking on those lemon drops”? Harry asked, “they do have a habit of rotting your brain and teeth you know”.
Merlin sputtered indignantly, “there is no time for this heir, the room before time might just let you save everyone inside this castle.”
“Ok and how do I get to the heart of Hogwarts”? Harry queried.
“Go to the founder’s portrait room, there is a door in there that will lead you to it and hurry”.
“But there is no door”, Harry pointed out confused, before blinking, Merlin had faded away.
Making his mind up he rushed to the founders portrait room and to his immense surprise there was indeed another door on the far wall that he had never noticed, shrugging he ran towards it and flung it open. Spying a long dark passageway he lit his wand with a lumos and hastily made his way to the large circular room at the end of it, in the middle of that room lay a large mirror, not dissimilar to that of the mirror of ERISED. This mirror was about ten times bigger though and instead of being made of glass it looked to be a large swirling vortex.
“Lady Hogwarts hear my plea,” Harry intoned, “Let me save the people residing within your hallowed halls, allow me to keep them from harm and allow me to help you.”
Harry felt a large rush of magic run through his body in response to his request, in an instant his heart lightened, he knew now what had to be done, and he knew that the Lady Hogwarts was always fighting for him. With a large complicated wand movement he transported the mirror up to the great hall where it replaced all of the house tables and only just fit.
Harry then apperated to the great hall himself before casting sonorous on himself. “YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE,” he began, “IT IS APPARENT THAT WE MUST EVACUATE HOGWARTS, ONE AT A TIME PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY INTO THE GREAT HALL AND STEP INTO THE MAGICAL MIRROR BEHIND ME”.
“Harry are you sure this will work”? Severus asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes Severus, I know of only one place safe enough for them and a place I can learn how to fix Hogwarts.”
The first years made their way into the mirror first followed by the second and third years, the fourth years then followed, just before the fifth years could step through a loud explosion could be heard, the wards had failed and the entire castle shook, towers fell to the ground and ceilings collapsed.
“EVERYONE THROUGH NOW,” Harry shouted.
The fifth, sixth, seventh years and the staff all stumbled through the mirror, with Blaise and Harry bringing up the rear. (no pun intended).
Harry opened his eyes just in time to spy chaos. “WHAT THE HOLY FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?” A loud gruff voice boomed.
Well, there you have it, im working on the halloween special chapter 13, so hopefully ill get it done in time, im actually surprised this one is finished.
