They returned to Aquarian Colonial Headquarters as soon as they finished unpacking, each of them noticing that their things had been thoroughly searched. As they had been expecting that, they had left nothing of any importance behind, instead carrying them on themselves. Not trusting that there were no listening devices within their apartmrnts, they decided to talk on their was back to the base that not only housed the Colonial Headquarters, but the Colonial Garrison.
As they entered the Atrium, Roark expressed a quiet concern. "Do you think it was on Ardyn's orders?" he asked them as they headed for the stairs instead of using the lifts.
"Hard to say at this point," Severus told them quietly as they began the climb to the third floor where their offices were located. "I think it is definitely a possibility. We really need to talk to Logan, Fili and Kili. Find out what they may have seen, what they've been hearing."
They left the stairwell, entering the hall that had six doors. "Lt. Tristyn said they'd be back in a couple of centars. Harry and I can make a start on this," he held up the file as they neared the doorway to the third room on the left, the door sliding open with a slight hiss as they approached. "Are you going back down to the Medical Wing, Severus?"
"You know very well that I am. I want to see what kind of incompetent idiots they have working here. Check out how they're supplied, what they have on hand and what state their potions are in. Then, if I get that done, I'll take a walk around the Base, see what I can hear," a smirk. "My com will be on channel 8 if either of you should need me for any reason."
Roark turned on the threshhold of the doorway. "You'll be careful?"
His brow arched. "You know, before I had to retire from undercover work, I was one of the best. Now, of course, the two that we have stationed here can be considered to be the best, given just how long they've been in place without getting themselves caught...or killed. The point is, I'll be just fine," he then gave them a very stern look. "you two are to behave yourselves."
"We will certainly do out best. We'll see you tonight?"
"Perhaps," he said, Then, after one last look at the two of them, he turned and headed back toward the lifts, to take one back down to the ground floor.
Once he was out of sight, they turned to enter the office they would be sharing for the unforseeable future, Harry reaching out to set his palm to the light plate, "Lights medium low," he ordered
Once the lights were on, they looked around the office they had been given, saw that it was much bigger than the one they had shared on Virgon, and it was just as bare as they one on Virgon had been. There were only a few basic things like two fairly good size desks setting before a half wall, with a the other half being windows, the blinds closed to the afternoon sun that would have flooded the office had they been open.
On the left corner of each desk sat a lamp, on the right a full size desk top computer. There were six comfortable looking chairs spread around both desks, and against the right wall sat a matching couch beside the empty sideboard. Empty that is, until they had a chance to go shopping to pick up a few things.
Moving further into the room, they heard the door slide closed behind them as they crossed the carpeted floor to the desks, Harry moving around the one on the left, while Roark moved around the one on the right. Setting the file down, he reached out for the lamo, switching it on. That was when he heard Harry chuckle, and turned to look at him.
"What?" he asked as he saw the amusement lighting his emerald green eyes. "What has so amused you, dear brother?"
"Oh...oo, not much. I was just remembering how, on Virgon, our office was quite a bit smaller than this one is, AND we had to share it with two others," he told him as he pulled out the comfortable looking, dark brown leather chair. "And these chairs..." he sat. "Oh YEAH. Way more comfortable then the ones we had there."
Roark had to chuckle as the memory of the two of them, and the two others in that cramped , tiny office they had had on Virgon. The four desks had been in the center of the room, sitting corner to corner, and those chairs...He gave a shudder. Those chairs had been horribly uncomfortable. He shook his head as he pulled the leather chair out and sat.
"Oh, YEAH," he said, looking over at Harry, a smile twisting his lips. "DEFINITELY more comfortable, but we'll see after sitting in them for a few centars. So," he turned the chair to face him, "how do you want to handle this?"
"Hum...mm," he began as he got to his feet. "How about if I go to the market while you look at the file?" he frowned suddenly. "I get a feeling we're going to be wanting some tea...or coffee, once we really get started."
Roark nodded. "Get some hot chocolate, too. Some snacks wouldn't be too bad, and some sandwich makings too, though Severus is likely to grumble about that not being nutritious enough. Will you need some credits?"
Harry laughed. "So true that. I can hear him now, telling us we need to eat something much more substantial than that garbage, and only if you want me to stop at the local art and craft outlet, to see if they have any new cross stitch patterns."
"HA!" Roark said with a grin as he reached for the leather wallet that he kept his gold, silver and bronz credit chips in. "I know you want to go to the book outlet to see if they have any of those new sci-fi thrillers you love so much. Get me any of the new patterns they have, and some floss too. You seem to know what I like better than I do."
"Hey, you have your way to unwind, to relax, and clear your mind, and I have mine," he told him, taking the credits he passed to him and adding them to his own wallet. "Be back as soon as I can."
