Leaving Crabbe, Goyle and Blaise passed out on the common room sofa, I hauled Draco upstairs to his now empty dorm, stumbling slightly through the darkness as I supported his flaccid body against my own. His height and weight had seemed to increase tenfold due to his semi-immobility in comparison to me and my average stature, and it took me more than a little effort, with the occasional pause along the way, before I was able to deposit him at last, atop the covers of his bed.
‘Alright you,’ I sighed as I pulled out my wand and lit a nearby candle with the glowing tip, illuminating the dark room in a dull orb of light, ‘stay there and I will be back in a few minutes. And try not to suffocate yourself in the pillow whilst I’m gone please.’
Draco laying sprawled out in front of me, half on his side, half on his belly, his flushed face half buried in the pillow, one leg hanging off the bed.
‘Draco?’
‘I won’t...’ came the low, muffled groan. Placing my wand down on my bedside table, I picked up his spare pillow, tucking it alongside his back to prevent him from rolling all the way over the bed and onto the floor, before I swept quickly out the room.
I returned a few moments later with my spare potions cauldron, a couple of hand towels and a small glass bottle of ginger and boswellia pain pastilles retrieved from my trunk. Tucked carefully under my arm, I juggled also a large glass of water and a sprig of fresh mint from the windowsill planter I kept in my own dorm room. Setting it all down on the bedside unit, I squatted down next to the bed beside Draco who was by now, laying on his side, curled into a semi foetal position, his eyes shut, his dishevelled blonde hair flopping across his brow, his breath coming low and slow.
‘Hey,’ I whispered firmly but softly, giving his arm a gentle shake, ‘come on...wake up. I need you to have a drink and take something please.’
‘I just want to go to sleep...’ came his slightly slurred reply, his eyes flickering wearily open to meet mine.
‘I know...and you can,’ I responded, pulling the cork stopper from the vial and shaking 2 of the amber pastilles into my hand, ‘when you have taken these. You will be a whole lot worse off in the morning if you don’t. Now come on...sit up please.’
With a thin smile, I offered him the tablets with one hand and the glass with another and waited as he hauled himself slowly, heavily, up onto an elbow then gingerly took them with somewhat shaky hands.
‘I think if I swallow anything else, I'll just throw it back up,’ Draco groaned, his eyes squeezing shut painfully, the dull light of the candle clearly even too much for him, ‘and I don’t want to be sick in front of you.’
‘I’ve seen you sick before,’ I replied, shaking my head, ‘it’s all the same to me. And if you are sick, my spare cauldron is here for exactly that reason. Now come on baby, you have to take them please. Take them, have a big drink, then you can go back to sleep.’
I waited and watched as Draco downed both tablets with the water, before draining the rest of the glass in one long gulp, offering it empty back to me and then flopping weakly sideways and collapsing back into the pillow with a long low groan, his eyes falling shut again.
‘Oh god...’ he groaned dully, keeping his eyes shut, ‘my friggin’ head is pounding...why am I so damn thirsty? I’ve just drunk my fucking body weight...’
‘It’s because you’re dehydrated,’ I replied simply, tenderly stroking a loose lock of sweat dampened hair from his brow, ‘because the body weight of Firewhiskey that you've just consumed is likely the primary component of your bloodstream at the present time. And alcohol, of any kind, dehydrates a person. My mum sees this all the time, when she is nursing Muggles. Many of them quite enjoy a bit too much of the ol' drink too. Granted, it's not Firewhiskey, but it can do just as much damage.'
Reaching over, I retrieved the mint spring from the bedside unit.
‘Here...’ I said, plucking a couple of leaves from the stem and putting them under Draco's nose, ‘take these too...put them in your mouth and chew them.’
‘What’s that?’ Draco queried, his brow creased and curious.
‘It’s just peppermint, you great lump,’ I replied with a smile, ‘chew it. It’ll help clear your head and make your tummy feel better too.’
I watched as he scrutinised the leaves closely for a moment before smiling thinly at me.
‘God...you’re so smart...’ he murmured as he took the 2 leaves and slipped them into the side of his mouth, chewing them slowly.
‘Yeah… tell me something I don’t know,’ I replied sarcastically, glancing down as I placed the empty cauldron beside him on the bed.
‘You’re so beautiful...and so good to me too.’
With a crooked smile, I gave a slow shake of my head as I kept my eyes lowered.
‘Now that’s where you’re wrong...’ I replied coyly, pulling at a loose thread on one of the towels.
‘No… you are...’
At his response, I raised my eyes back up to be met by Draco’s slightly dazed yet riveted grey gaze, locked to mine.
‘You’re just...just wonderful,’ he purred and even through his lingering drunken daze, I could tell that every word he was speaking was heartfelt and genuine, ‘why?’
I tipped my head curiously to the side, my brown furrowed.
‘Why what?’
‘Why...are you so good to me?’
‘I’m just being a good girlfriend,’ I replied, forcing out a thin smile as I gave a dismissive shake of my head, ‘anyway...I couldn’t have very well left you stumbling drunkenly around the corridors for the rest of the night, as much as I may have wanted to, could I? And I highly doubt Snape would have been all that impressed at your state if he had been the one to find you instead of me.’
‘I don’t just mean now though,’ Draco continued, ‘you’re always so good. Always so patient and kind. You put up with all my shit, all the time...and you don’t have to. Why?’
I smiled shyly.
‘Because I want to,’ I answered, shrugging slightly, ‘because, you know, I actually rather enjoy your company...when you’re in a more balanced, coherent, vertical state.’
Draco returned my thin smile.
‘I’m sorry.’
‘It’s fine, really,’ I said, shaking my head, ‘please, do stop apologising.’
‘I’m sorry,’ Draco slurred again and we both couldn’t help but smile at his response as we continued to gaze at each other, silence now falling around us.
‘Merlin’s beard, you’re a pillock,’ I said softly, brushing back another lock of hair from his brow as I slowly shook my head, ‘what the hell am I going to do with you?’
‘I dunno,’ Draco purred, sliding his hand out from under the pillow to take mine, ‘but whatever it is, I will still love you.’
I smiled softly, as he raised my hand to his lips, planting a series of soft sucking kisses to the back.
‘I will always, always, always...love you...’
‘Alright you, come on,’ I said shyly after the 6th kiss, stroking my other hand gently down his hair as I slowly rose to my feet, sliding my hand free from his hold, ‘you’re getting all emotional now and I think the Firewhiskey is starting to speak on your behalf again. It’s time for you to get some sleep...and time for me too as well.’
I waited whilst Draco nestled back down and was silent once more. After picking up his discarded shoes and jacket from the floor, laying them at the foot of his bed and reminding him of the nearby proximity of the cauldron and towels, I was just about to turn for the door, when Draco murmured my name, checking me.
‘Y/N...’
I glanced back. ‘What?’
He said nothing for a brief moment, then slowly opened his eyes again, reaching his fingers up to brush the tips of mine as he cast me a soft, dreamy smile.
‘Really...I love you.’
I knew that it was indeed the alcohol still speaking to a certain degree but I couldn’t help but smile as I heard Draco’s affectionate, heartfelt words, his grey gaze, soft and adoring as he stared at me from beneath his hooded lids.
‘I know you do,’ I whispered, giving his hand a gentle squeeze, ‘but save it for the morning, my love. Your words will mean more then. Now come on... go to sleep.’
And with that, I gave his hand one last squeeze, then blew out the candle and made my way to the door, pulling it ajar behind me, leaving him to his slumber.
Back in my own dorm, I lay in bed, snoozing and waking sporadically on and off throughout the early hours, my head still busy from the evening’s events and a part of me still, albeit it secretly, quite concerned for Draco’s condition, despite how aloof or angry I may have initially appeared upon his raucous arrival back to the common room several hours before. I lay in the comforting darkness of my bed, the heavy curtains drawn around me, my eyes shut, listening carefully to both the soft sounds of my roommates sleeping around me and any hint of noise or movement from the boys’ dorms across the landing. I knew Draco would still be on his own. There would be no way any of the other 3 lads would be capable of making it upstairs tonight. They were absolutely and utterly down for the count.
I lay for a long while, drowsy but awake, wondering if I should sneak out and check on him despite the strict rule against the mixing of genders in the dormitories at night. Draco was, for the most part, a highly intelligent and astute individual. But, as was the case with many boys his age, when he decided to indulge in a tipple or 2 or 3, all vestiges of common sense, reasonable and sensible behaviour and the ability to resist drinking further became nigh on impossible.
I buried my own face into my pillow, making a mental memo to have a frank conversation with Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle in the morning for encouraging him, not that, if truth be told, Draco really needed all that much encouragement, especially when he got in with his squad of mates. It was then I heard the gentle, almost silent pad of faint footfalls on the floorboards outside the dormitory door, followed by the soft, tell-tale creak of the door itself being pushed slightly open. A moment later, I felt the cover being lifted behind me and the mattress beneath me dip as Draco slid his long lean body into my bed, snuggling up behind mine with a soft sigh.
Initially, I didn’t speak. I didn’t even look at him, keeping my eyes shut and my back to him, pretending I was asleep. Almost instantly, I felt him wrap his long limbs around mine and pull me back to him in a tender, almost desperate embrace, like he was trying to meld his body together with mine, his lips pressing gently into the back of my hair. There was a long silence before Draco finally spoke, his voice a low, tentative whisper.
‘Y/N?’
I thought about ignoring him for a moment before I answered in a short, monosyllabic grunt.
‘Mmm?’
‘Are you awake?’
‘No,’ I whispered shortly, keeping my eyes shut, ‘and neither should you be. You know you’re not meant to be in here, babe.’
There was another long pause of silence before Draco whispered again.
‘Can I have a hug?’
‘You’re hugging me already,’ I answered, still not looking at him, ‘you hug me any tighter, you’ll be constricting me.’
‘No… I meant, can you hug me back? Please?’
It was then I felt him trembling against me. Whether it was from being in the slightly chilly dorm or the lingering effects of the alcohol, I didn’t know. All I knew was that in a split second it unnerved me greatly and no matter how much I may have
wanted to maintain my indignant mood for a little while more, all resentment and annoyance disappeared in a heartbeat as I felt the man that I Ioved shaking against me, his hands chilly against the bare skin of my arms as they seeked my hold, making the hair on me prickle in goose bumps, his normally warm lips, cold and quivering against the back of my neck, his breath low and shallow in my ear.
Reaching over my hip, I took his searching hand firmly but gently in mine, threading my fingers together with his.
‘Hey, what’s up?’ I whispered, squeezing it tenderly as I glanced over my shoulder, ‘you’re trembling.’
‘No, not really...’ came Draco’s flat reply, ‘...my head’s still banging and I just threw my guts, and probably a vital organ or two, down the toilet.’
‘Oh... lovely,’ I answered as I rolled gently over to face him, our bodies pressing together as we laid parallel, the tips of our noses almost grazing with the proximity, our hands, our fingers remaining joined, ‘but it’s probably the best thing. Most of the booze is out of you now, by hook or by crook. As it were.’
‘Doesn’t stop my head from feeling like someone crushing it with their boot though,’ Draco groaned.
From behind the curtains that surrounded us, I heard a muffled rustling of bedclothes, followed by a soft snore and short sentence of incoherent muttering. Draco froze at the sound, listening closely before looking back at me.
‘It’s okay, it’s just Millicent.’ I whispered, ‘she’s still asleep. Talking to Pansy again.’
Draco smirked slightly, rolling his eyes.
‘As for your head...I'm not surprised, sweetheart,’ I whispered, stroking the pad of my thumb across his pale cheek, ‘your poor brain’s probably gone into panic stations over the amount of Firewhiskey that you chose to pickle it in.’
Draco offered me another lopsided smirk.
‘You put it so articulately.’ He murmured sarcastically and I couldn’t help but smile back.
‘Well, I could have said you got spectacularly and idiotically drunk, but I’m trying to be sympathetic now. You know…be a nice girlfriend.’
‘Don’t give me any sympathy,’ Draco groaned, ‘I don’t deserve a single bloody word of it. I’m a prize-winning idiot.’
‘Yeah, you are,’ I confirmed with a smile as I shifted my body against his, our bare feet entwining and rubbing affectionately together beneath the heavy duvet, ‘but you’re my idiot. And anyone who says a word against you, will have me to deal with.’
‘Mmm,’ Draco purred, raising one arched brow ironically, ‘lucky them.’
‘No, definitely not lucky them,’ I replied, smirking, ‘you, my gorgeous man, are the only one who is lucky when it comes to me...’
I wriggled an inch or so closer, grazing the side of his long nose with mine.
‘...And no matter how stupid or stubborn...or drunk you may be at any given time, I will always, always, always...love you.’
I saw Draco smile softly at my use of the very same line he had delivered to me only mere hours before, in a way, finally returning his declaration of affection.
‘Still...’ he said softly, ‘...I’m so sorry...really.’
‘Oh, please…’ I sighed in feigned annoyance, ‘…what the hell do I have to do to shut up your “sorrys”? Snog your face off?’
Draco flashed me yet another curled smirk.
‘If you like...’ he purred, raising a suggestive arched brow as one large hand slid down the curve of my hip, down to the top of my thigh, pulling me even closer against him, ‘...and you don’t have to worry. I brushed my teeth after throwing my guts up.’
I couldn’t help but chuckle.
‘Oh… you put it soooo articulately my dear,’ I teased, smirking again as I leant in to receive his waiting kiss.
We kissed deep yet slow for a long moment, neither of us in a hurry to end our embrace, before Draco gave an abrupt, almost involuntary jerk backwards, breaking the lock of our lips suddenly, hissing a murmured curse through his gritted teeth as his eyes squeezed shut again.
‘Fuck…’
‘Head still hurting you?’
‘Mmmm….’ Draco groaned as he moved his hand up to clutch at his forehead, ‘…like a hippogriff whose just been told he looks like the back end of a mountain troll. Sorry. Fuck.’
‘Hey, hey, hey,’ I soothed as I raised myself on my elbow, ‘it’s fine. Calm down, you’ll make it worse. Do you want me to get you another tablet?’
‘No thanks, it’s fine, really,’ Draco replied, raising his eyes back up to meet mine, ‘I’ve just got to ride it out...again, it’s my own stupid fault. Don’t give me an ounce of sympathy.’
‘Yeah, it is your own stupid fault,’ I confirmed with a smile, ‘but it’s done now.’
It was then I had an idea and carefully, I sat up.
‘Alright you, shift...’ I said, patting his thigh through the duvet as I leant over him, reaching an arm out for my wand, ‘...I need to get something out of the drawer.’
‘What are you up to?’ Draco asked curiously, turning his face away as the tip of my wand became illuminated, bathing the darkness around us in a faint, hazy orb of light that barely illuminated half of my double bed.
‘I’m going to treat you...’ I whispered, opening the top bedside drawer in which I kept my vast cache of essential oils, ‘...to my favourite headache remedy.’
Pushing my way past all of the other contents of the drawer, I carefully pulled my oils storage box from the very back. Sitting back against the pillows, I rested it in my lap, flipping the brass clasp and lifting the carved wooden lid, my fingers scrolling along the corked and capped tops of the small glass vials for a moment before I found the one that I was looking for. Peppermint and lavender, the emerald green glass shimmering even in the ashen light.
‘Alright you,’ I said, leaning over to rest the box back on the bedside table as I pushed the duvet off of my legs with my feet, ‘pop your top off and come here and lean back against me. Nox.’
‘I dread to think what you’re going to do to me,’ Draco teased, smirking as he kneeled up and gingerly pulled his t-shirt up and over his head, dropping it carelessly to the floor beside the bed, leaving him kneeling before me in only his fitted black boxers, ‘I still remember what happened with the basil and cucumber ones that time. I was left smelling like a salad for two days afterwards.’
‘Do shut up,’ I retorted in mock offence, ‘and you did not smell for two days. It was only one. And you smelt lovely.’
‘Okay, day and three quarters then...’
I tipped my head to the side, squeezing out a forced smile.
‘Just shut up and lay down please.’
I waited as he moved up to me, nestling his long lean body down between my parted legs, reclining back against me as I had told him to, his back coming to rest against my belly, his shoulders against my chest and his head just beneath the curve of the front of my neck and chin. I could smell the faint scent of his shampoo rise from his hair and the almost invisible, yet ever lingering aroma of his icy, fresh cologne radiating from his semi naked body.
‘Alright... I give up,’ Draco purred, ‘what is it?’
‘Well,’ I said, pulling the tiny cork carefully free from the top of the vial before I wafted it slowly backwards and forwards under his nose, ‘what does it smell like to you?’
‘Like someone squirted toothpaste around a flower garden.’
I could pretty much hear the mocking chuckle in his voice as I nudged him warningly in the thigh with my elbow.
‘I’ll ignore that,’ I said flatly, ‘but though I hate to admit it, you are correct... in a way...’
‘What?’ Draco asked, glancing back over his shoulder to smile up at me, ‘in the way that it’s peppermint? And I think… probably lavender…and eucalyptus too?’
‘Alright, you can shut up now, you smart arse...’ I said coolly, but still unable not to smile at his seemingly perpetual cheekiness, even when he was feeling less than brilliant, ‘...close your eyes and be quiet.’
Dabbing a spot of the fresh, fragrant oil onto the ends of my index fingers, I warmed it a little, rubbing it with the pads of my thumbs before I gently cupped Draco’s head in my hands, pausing only to stroke a few errant locks of his hair out of the way before I finally began massaging the oil into his temples with my thumbs in slow, short, lazy circles. I was rewarded after only a short moment or two by a long low sigh and soft throaty groan from Draco as he tipped his head back further, almost like he was pushing back into my touch and I couldn’t help but smile, shushing him softly as I pressed a tender kiss to the top of his head.
‘Hmmm, so I think we can safely say that you now like me and my litany of stinky oils, hey?’ I whispered as I continued my slow, sensuous motions, the tips of my other fingers roaming and stroking through the sides of his hair and across ridges of his brows.
‘Hate them deeply...’ came Draco’s sarcastic, almost purring reply as he kept his eyes shut, his head lolling further and further back against me.
‘How’s the pressure? Not too much? Not too little?’
‘It’s perfect,’ Draco sighed, still keeping his eyes shut, ‘so...how does it actually work to knock a headache on the head... so to speak.’
I gave a soft chuckle.
‘Nice one,’ I said as I moved my fingers down and began gently stroking some of the oil down the sides of his sharp jaw-line and behind his ears as my thumbs continued their motions of his temples, ‘well...you’re Snape's boy in potions. You should have a fairly good idea. The lavender calms and relaxes, while the mint has a slight numbing effect which, when you’re trying to get rid of the pounding head feeling, is probably a good thing. The eucalyptus also helps with reducing inflammation as well as clearing the head and opening up the sinuses so you can get more oxygen to your pickled brain. And the mint, lavender and eucalyptus together also help ease nausea.’
Draco gave a soft snort.
‘Sounds like you should be the one teaching potions with that degree of knowledge. Best not tell Granger. She’ll start blubbing if she thinks someone is trying to steal her bookworm crown.’
‘Hey,’ I gave his ear lobe a gentle, reprimanding flick, ‘be nice. How’s your head feeling?’
‘Mmmm...much better already,’ Draco sighed, closing his eyes again as he leant his head back against me once more, ‘I don’t know where you learnt to do this, but don’t feel the need to stop anytime soon.’
‘Oh, I’ve learnt many things in my short but colourful years on this planet,’ I sighed wistfully as I stroked my fingers back up to trace the outlines of his pointed ears, back up to his temples, ‘as I am sure you have.’
‘Hmm…I think we both know you know a few of them already, love… ’
I rolled my eyes as I felt him begin to stroke across my exposed thigh with one long finger.
‘Heeey...hands to yourself please,’ I chided, giving him a gentle nudge in the arm with my elbow, ‘or I may think about prodding and grabbing hold of yours...’
I heard Draco give another soft, low snort.
‘You wouldn’t dare...’ he teased, and though I knew instantly that he was baiting me, goading me to react, I couldn’t resist playing along with his lure, his voice soft and deep as we kept our voices at a whisper, his tone teasing and tempting.
‘Oh...wouldn’t I now?’ I whispered, keeping one hand moving against his left temple
as I stilled the other and instead, began to slide it slowly but purposefully downwards, down his bare chest. I paused only briefly to tickle the toned, pale skin before I kept slipping it lower and lower until I met with the waistband of his boxers, my lips lowering to his ear, the very tips just grazing the lobe as I finally slid my hand slowly beneath the dark fabric and found the soft yet firm shaft of his cock, ‘well...do tell me, my love. Just what makes you think...that?’
On the last word, as I gently but firmly wrapped my fingers around his length, I captured his ear lobe between my lips, giving it a soft, sucking kiss and a gentle nip with my teeth. Draco’s response to both ministrations, my hand on his cock and lips on his lobe, was unequivocal as a long, low groan rose from his throat, making me smirk to myself with an undeniable sense of conceit.
‘Go on then,’ I purred, still playing along, but now very much being the one who was in control as I moved my hand slowly up his length, lathing my thumb gently but firmly across the head, ‘try me. I dare you...’
I sucked his earlobe back between my lips as I give his cock a firm but gentle squeeze, eliciting another deep guttural groan.
‘Oh, and by the way, I forgot to tell you,’ I whispered, smirking against his ear as I continued to kiss it, planting slow sucking kisses up the outer edge, ‘giving you a good and proper wank is another highly effective, natural headache remedy that we could have used...but I thought, no, the oil smells so nice after all...why waste an opportunity to use it?’
Smiling, I gave his length another gentle squeeze drawing another soft, deep groan of pleasure from Draco.
‘Sssshhh,’ I purred, ‘they’ll hear us…’
‘You’re a brazen, teasing wench,’ Draco growled softly, ‘I hope you bloody well know that...’
I gave a deep, throaty chuckle.
‘If you say so, my love...’ I cooed playfully, brushing the tips of my lips against the side of his neck as I continued to slowly stroke him, ‘but hey...I learnt from the best. You.’
‘I’m not a tease...’ Draco growled.
I smiled devilishly.
‘Well…neither am I...’ I purred, pressing soft sucking kisses to the side of his neck again and again as I spoke, my hand continuing to slowly masturbate him, bringing him to partial erection before I moved my lips back up to capture his ear lobe once more, ‘...I just like fucking with you. And you can take that comment...any...way...you...want.’
Opening his eyes to me at last, Draco’s gaze met mine, his normally slatey grey eyes now deep, dark and smouldering as he stared at me through the shadows, the point of his nose nearly grazing mine, our faces so close I could feel the heat from his breath on the tips of my lips, to the point where it made my skin tingle, my stomach drop and my centre begin to flood.
‘I can take you...’ he purred, his gaze not leaving mine for a second, ‘...any...way...I...want.’
Slowly, I raised a curious brow, my lips curling into a coquettish smile, my hand gently releasing his length as I realised our teasing and calling of each other’s bluff’s had worked out exactly how I wanted it, with me bringing the challenge back around on him and leaving him no option but to take me at my teasing proposition, quite literally.
I flicked my brows, furthering the challenge.
‘You wouldn’t dare...’ I whispered.
No sooner had the words left my lips than Draco had captured me in his arms, flipping me over and under him, planting me flat on my back amongst the pillows and the rumpled bedclothes, his body pressing against mine, his hands grasping my wrists, pinning my arms out to the side, making me surrender to him as our lips crushed and ravaged hungrily together in a deep, fervent kiss.
It didn’t take either of us long to dispose of the meagre clothing that we were wearing, his hand cupping and massaging one of my breasts as he rid me of my night shirt and himself of his boxers, leaving us naked, tangled in each other’s embraces, our bodies pressing together. A moment later he slid into me and from then on, the whole act couldn’t have lasted longer than a few short moments, but I didn’t care.
All I remembered and all I really cared about was feeling the sensation of the returned warmth of Draco’s body melding into mine as he moved against me, the soft, warm duvet tenting us both, his scent, so masculine yet so comforting, mingling with the fresh scents of the linen, the cool clean aromas of peppermint, lavender and eucalypt, swirling around us, filling my nose, making my head start to swarm and swim. Our whispered words and soft groans of pleasure continued through our tender kisses, our lingering caresses and our desperate grasps rippling and surging through each other’s bodies as our heart-rates continued to rise higher and higher, our motions gradually become faster and more desperate as we made silent, impulsive love only mere meters away from my sleeping dorm-mates.
Our mumbled grunts of exertion, our gasps of desperation, our groans of gratification against each other’s faces continued to rise, higher and higher, almost to fever pitch before we both eventually fell over the edge of the precipice of release within seconds of each other. Draco’s body shattered against mine, his head dropping down to the crook of my neck as he thrust hard into me, filling me with the hot flood of his release, his restrained groan of climax so powerful I felt his chest rumble against mine as I exploded along with him. My body coiled, my head arching back and I drew in a deep silent gasp as I gritted my teeth and clasped him desperately to me, riding the shuddering waves of pleasure along with him, never letting him go. Only after the very last ripple had dissolved did we both finally fell back to sleep, still wrapped in each other’s arms, completely enamoured and utterly spent.
