"Don't even think about moving, unless you want to be hexed into oblivion!" The voice was tinged with fury and was coming from the hempeempered redhead standing at the side of the bed.
Draco blinked blearily and covered his eyes with his forearm to block out the harsh morning sunlight that was temporarily blinding him. When he was finally able to focus, he became aware that the bed was surrounded by four very angry and suspicious looking Gryffindors, their wands drawn and pointed at himself. Okay Harry, now would be a good time for you to wake up and explain things to your friends here, Draco thought. It wasn't that he was frightened, but he was at a definite disadvantage being wandless and outnumbered four to one, and the natives appeared to be getting ress. ss.
"Harry," he whispered hoarsely, "Harry, wake up. We've got company." The only effect this had was that Harry rolled over and wrapped himself tightly around Draco, burying his face in Draco's neck.
"I thought I told you not to move!" Ron shouted. His face was turning red, and he had stepped forward to press his wand under Draco's chin. "I want to know what spell you've put Harry under, because he certainly wouldn't want you in his bed." Ron pulled the wand away from Draco's throat, waving it menacingly and getting very impatient in the process. "I asked you a question, Ferret Boy, and I expect an answer!"
The painful reminder of what had become known as the "Amazing Bouncing Ferret" incident mortified Draco, and his face coloured slightly at the memory. He recovered his dignity quickly, however, and smirked. "Well, since you rely on Granger for your knowledge, there are only three possible spells, Weasel…" His words were cut short when he felt Harry's hand slide down to his thigh and give it a light squeeze. "Erm, right. Weasley." Draco forced the name out slowly and closed his eyes in thought. "But that's beside the point, I don't actually have him under any spell. Did you ever consider that he just might have fallen for my obvious charm?" Draco couldn't help but give a pouty smirk to demonstrate how obvious his charmre.
re.
Not satisfied with Malfoy's answer, Ron's eyes narrowed further and he decided to ask his friend what was going on. "Harry? What the hell is Ferret Boy doing in your bed? What were you thinking?" Ron shouted at Harry in the hopes of waking him up and getting an answer.
Fuck! What in the hell are they thinking? Harry sighed loudly. He was really quite comfortable nestled in Draco's arms and was reluctant to leave their warmth. When he finally opened his eyee foe found Ron with his wand pointed perilously close to Draco's throat, and Dean, Neville and Seamus encircling the bed with their wands drawn as well. "Erm, I'm thinking that the Imperturbable Charm wore off overnight?" He raised himself up on his elbow and grinned down at Draco. "I'm sorry, they tend to get a little over-zealous when they think I'm in danger." He turned his head to face his friends. "You lot can drop the over-protective roommate routine now, I'm fine. Draco is here because I want him here. And don't call him Ferret Boy." He gently pushed Ron's wand down so that it no longer posed a threat to Draco.
The mouths of all four friends hung open as they gaped at the pair that had finally risen and were sitting side by side in the bed, their hands entwined. All of them were startled into silence by the thought that Harry would actually want to be in the company of Draco Malfoy, and they were somewhat reluctant to lower their wands. Neville was the first to finally speak.
"Harry, are you sure you're not under the influence of an Entrancing Enchantment? Or perhaps he slipped a love potion in your pumpkin juice last night? I mean, what other reason could there be for you to have the son of a Death Eater in your bed?" Neville noticed the look of pain that flashed across Draco's face at the dig about his parentage and he felt bad about it. He also saw Harry gently squeeze the hand that he was holding in his own. Perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye, he mused silently.
Harry sighed deeply. He was getting tired of being treated as though he were a fragile china doll that should be wrapped in cotton wool. Why couldn't they understand that he was no different than them, that he had the same dreams for a happy life, and that he wanted to find love and happiness much in the same way that they would? It seemed that wheneve did did things that were not considered typically "Harry", it was always assumed or implied that he must be under a spell of some sort, for he could never, ever make a choice like that on his own. He shook his head sadly.
"Neville, I appreciate your concern." He let his gaze rest on the other two boys and nodded slightly. "And that goes for the rest of you. However, you should trust that I know what I'm doing. I'm not under a spell, and Draco did not slip a potion into my pumpkin juice, or anything like that. And you've all got to realise that Draco is nothing like his father." He sighed again and scooted closer to Draco, then turned to face Ron. "Do you three mind if I speak with Ron alone for a few minutes? I really need to explain things to him."
Dean, Neville and Seamus all nodded quietly and headed toward the common room. Seamus turned to face Harry at the last minute and said "We'll be right out here if you need us," then disappeared through the door, closing it silently behind them. Draco made a motion to get up from the bed and leave as well, but Harry gently pushed him back down. "Not you. I want you to stay here with me." One look in Harry's eyes told him that things would be all right, so Draco sat back down and grabbed Harry's hand again.
Harry's attention focused back on Ron. "Ron, before I start I want you to put your wand down on your bedside table." Ron balked at the idea, but Harry made it clear that if he wanted any kind of explanation he'd better do as Harry asked. And so it was with great reluctance and apprehension that Ron placed hisd dod down on the table and began to listen to what Harry had to say. "You remember over the summer when I met you and 'Mione in Diagon Alley and told you about Glenn?" Ron nodded, so Harry explained to him how the letters had continued after they had returned to Hogwarts. And how, after many letters, he had longed to know Glenn's true identity.
"Trelawney and her dotty methods of Divination are what finally brought it all together for me. When she brought up using the apple and the mirror on Samhain to find ones true love, I finally decided that it was time for me to find out who Glenn really was. I didn't know it at the time, but Draco was watching me in Trelawney's class and he somehow figuret wht what I was going to do." Harry's eyes sled led as he recounted the tale of how he left the dance early to come back to the dorm to carefully set everything up, and how when he opened his eyes, Draco was standing behind him. "Imagine my surprise when a real person appeared behind me, not to mention that this person was Draco Malfoy." He chuckled at the memory of last night's events.
"Oh sure, laugh now. You weren't laughing when you were hurling accusations and insults at me last night." Draco quirked an eyebrow at Harry and smiled. "But it all worked out for the best in the end," Draco patted the bed beside him for effect, "and here I am."
Ron eyed the pair suspiciously, fighting the urge to pick up his wand from the table. "How do we know you're tel the the truth, Malfoy? Your father is a known Death Eater and he's rotting in Azkaban right now for trying to kill Harry for You-Know-Who. Let's face it, Malfoy. You've never been remotely nice to us and have always gone out of your way to harass us, and now you expect us to believe that you spent the summer writing love letters to Harry Potter? I'd be more inclined to think they were death threats," Ron intoned.
Draco shot up from the bed, furious at Ron's allegations and ready to defend his actions. He didn't get far before Harry grabbed him by his waist and pulled him back down on the bed. "I don't have to sit here and listen to this crap, Weasley. This has absolutely nothing to do with the past or how I treated you, it's about what I feel for Harry. Sometimes things are not what they appear to be! If they were, we'd have to assume that based on your looks, you are as thick as a post. Oh, wait, you are." Draco was shaking with rage and it was all Harry could do to calm him down.
"Shh, you know that I don't think about you the way that Ron does, Draco, and I know that your intentions are good." Harry stroked Draco's hair gently, silently willing him to calm down, and Draco finally relaxed under Harry's soothing touch. "Ron, you of all people should know that you can't judge a person by who their father is." He leant over and placed a soft kiss on Draco's shoulder.
Ron nearly gagged at the obvious display of affection between the two young men. It wasn't because he couldn't imagine Harry romantically involved with another man; he had had all summer to accept and come to terms with that. It was mainly because he did not trust Draco Malfoy as far as he could throw the git, and based on how tall and fit Malfoy was, Ron seriously doubted he could throw him even a few feet. He was still very wary about what Malfoy was up to and decided that he would make it his business to find out.
"Well, then Malfoy," Ron sneered. "You claim that you are the person that Harry knew over the summer as Glenn deWedlour, is that right?"
"Yes, that's right." Draco's jaw was clenched tightly in anger. He didn't feel that the Weasel deserved any answers from him, but he wasn't doing this for himself or the Weasel. He was doing this for Harry, in an effort to make Harry happy.
"How do I know that you're not just saying that you are this Glenn person so you can get close to Harry in order to turn him over to You-Know-Who?"
"Damn it, Ron! That thing," Harry spat out, "has a name, and that name is Voldemort." Ron flinched at his friend's casual use of the name. "I thought by now that you would be able to actually use it! And Draco is not planning on handing me over to that bastard!! Believe me when I tell you Ron, Glenn and Draco are one and the same."
Draco watched the interaction between the two friends curiously. He was glad that Harry did not doubt him, and decided he would make an effort to help clear this mess up. "I know I've never given you any reason to trust me, Weasley, but if you never believe another word from my mouth, please believe this. I care very much for Harry, and I would never do anything to hurt him. If need be, I am willing to subject myself to Veritaserum to ease your mind."
Harry gave Draco a pointed look and shook his head. "You will not be subjecting yourself to Veritaserum, not if I have anything to say about it. Ron, I'm sorry that you don't believe Draco, but I will not stand idly by and let him be treated like a common criminal. I just wish there was some other way that I can prove to you that Draco is Glenn."
During the time Harry was talking to Ron, Draco noticed the gift he'd given Harry for his birthday. He also remembered that when he'd bought it he had two spells put on it, one of which had been activated already. That left the second spell, the one he was originally going to use to reveal his identity to Harry before Harry got impatient and decided to follow Trelawney's advice. With a big smile on his face, he nudged Harry in the side to get his attention.
"Harry, I know how I can prove it without using the Veritaserum." He got up from the bed and walked over to a small table whehe ghe galaxy in a globe sat. "When I purchased this for your birthday I had a spell put on it to show you flying amongst the stars, as you can clearly see." He directed the last comment at Ron; then looking over to Harry, he continued excitedly. "I had not planned on revealing myself to you until the Yule Ball." He walked over to Harry's desk and wrote something down on a piece of parchment, then handed it to Harry. "The spell that made you appear in the globe was not the only spell I placed on the globe." The smile on his face reached all the way to his eyes. "I was going to send you a letter with the incantation on it; that's what I just wrote on the parchment. I used my memory of you speaking to key the spell to respond to your voice alone as you read the incantation, so no one else could activate it. Now, if you would please, bring your wand and activate the spell."
"Harry, no! What if it's a trick? Maybe he's made it so the second spell turns the thing into a portkey that drops you right in You-Kno…Voldemort's clutches!" Ron was in a panic; he jumped up and roughly grabbed Harry to keep him away from the globe.
Harry had had just about enough of Ron's stupid paranoia. "Ron, I wish you'd just let me live my life as I see fit. And if that life includesR…Draco, then I want you to respect that." Ron just stood there, totally gobsmacked as Harry wrenched himself out of his grasp and walked over to the globe with his wand drawn.
"All right, here goes nothing!" He pointed the wand at the base of the globe and uttered the words that were written on the parchment. "Acclaro Âme Soeur…" The incantation slipped from his lips as fervent as a prayer and he closed his eyes, almost afraid of what might happen. Ron's loud gasp caused him to snap his eyes open in an instant and look intently at the globe.
What he saw in the globe thrilled him more than even he thought it could. He turned to Draco and smiled, and then he walked into strong, waiting arms, Draco's arms. "It really is you," he breathed.
"You doubted me?" Draco was prepared to be hurt, but Harry shook his head.
"No, I didn't doubt you. I'm just so glad that it really is you." Harry reached up and snaked his arm around Draco's neck, pulling him down until their lips touched. Draco wrapped his arms around Harry's waist to pull his body in closer, and then he parted his lips to allow Harry's tongue access to his mouth. Harry's other hand reached forward and tangled in the silky blonde hair as he pulled out of the kiss, resting his forehead against Draco's.
Harry leaned back and looked up into Draco's eyes. "It's always been you, you know. From the moment we met in Madame Malkin's shop, I knew that there was something about you that…well, besides you acting like a spoiled prat…I felt drawn to you." Harry smiled at the memory. "Even when I was writing to Glenn I couldn't get you out of my mind, and believe me, I felt absolutely horrible about betraying Glenn when my thoughts kept returning to you. I'm just so amazed that you might have the same feelings for me…"
Harry was interrupted when Draco brought his lips down again to claim Harry's in another passion filled kiss; his lips and tongue explor's 's 's mouth with renewed ardour. Draco's hands twisted in Harry'ld hld hair, then one hand spread down Harry's back, sliding over lightly muscled shoulders. Harry leaned into Draco's body, intensifying the kiss as his own fingers found their home again in Draco's hair. Both of them moaned at the pleasurable sensations they were experiencing at the hands of the other. They were so involved with one another that they completely forgot that Ron was even in the room until they heard a choked-out sick groan, and what sounded like a hard aga against the dorm room floor.
Harry pulled back to look at Ron, who, in an obvious state of denial, was sitting on the bed staring down at the floor where the globe had dropped from his hands. He had clearly been looking at the second figure that had appeared there shortly after Harry had activated the spell.
It was a miniature version of Draco Malfoy, grinning madly with his hair flying loosely behind him as he streaked amongst the stars, side by side with the miniature Harry Potter. The look on his face was of pure happiness and adoration.
Draco glared at Ron, who had turned an unflattering shade of green and was desperately trying not to be ill. "You'd better count your lucky stars that I placed an Unbreak Cha Charm on that globe, Weasley."
Just as Draco was about to give Ron the third degree, the door to the dormitory flew open and Hermione made her way over to the trio. She grabbed Ron's hand and pulled him up toward her. "Dean told me what was going on in here, and I thought I'd better come and get you before you make too big a fool of yourself." She turned her attention to Harry and Draco, who were still holding on to each other and smiled. "I take it you finally told him the truth, and he was all right with it?" Draco nodded and Harry gave Hermione an odd look. She laughed and looked at Draco. "Well, it's about time!" Tugging on Ron, she made her way to the door. "Come on!"
Ron's eyes were bugged out of his head, he wasn't sure if he had heard Hermione correctly or not. "You knew?" He squeaked.
Hermione sighed. "Of course I knew, silly. I figured it all out this summer." She gave Draco a conspiratorial wink. "How do you think Draco got in here last night? Now come on, let's leave them alone for a while. I always like my love stories to have a happy ending." With that, Hermione left, dragging a very shocked Ron behind her. Harry and Draco were once again on their own, to their utter delight.
Harry gaped in bewilderment after Hermione had left the room. "I can't believe she knew all this time and didn't even tell me. Why do you think she did that?" His forehead wrinkled as he tried to understand why one of his best friends kept something as important as this from him.
Draco bent down and pressed a light kiss on Harry's lips. "I asked her not to tell you. Although if I hadn't told you last night, I'm pretty certain she would have." Harry decided that he would forgive Hermione…this time.
"Anyway, I have to agree with Hermione. I like my love stories to have a happy ending as well. What about you, Harry?" Draco's words whispered past Harry's ear, tickling the sensitive skin there.
Harry raised his eyes to meet Draco's. "Is that what this is Draco? A love story?" Draco was silent for several moments, causing Harry's stomach to do flips in anticipation of the answer.
Then he opened his mouth.
And Harry was left with no doubt that this was going to be one love story that would come to a very happy conclusion. As Draco kissed him again, their doubles in the globe smiled, streaking across the night sky, and all were happy in their universe.
