(Draco's P.O.V)
I stand nearest to my mother, watching as the corners of her mouth twitch. I know she is belated to see him. I know that she would love nothing more than to rush forward and wrap her arms around his neck and speak of special nothings in his ear. Tell him all is forgiven and all is ok. But she won't. Not here. Not now. I know something is different, I know something has shifted. My father is relaying information to us as fast as his bruised and damaged body will allow him. We can see how much it pains him, none of us are quite sure whether or not to trust him. No one is sure of his motives. This is Lucius Malfoy for Merlin's sake! He sought only to appease himself.
"How many, Lucius?" Arthur asked as he sent word to the members of the order. We would need as many people as we could gather if there was any hope to defeating the hordes of evil incarnate that were coming. I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my waist and I leant back, by smell alone I knew that they belonged to my mate. "When this all goes down, I want you hidden and out of harms way." Immediately I tense. "No." He growls in my ear, obviously not the response he had been seeking. "I will fight by your side." his breath ghosted over my neck as he spoke. "With you in the line of fire I will be distracted." I smirk and tilt my head to face him awkwardly. His green eyes blaze volumes at me and I sigh. "But with you in the line of fire I will do everything to get to you." His fingers flex over my stomach and my skin twitters to life.
"I don't know Draco..." I turn in his arms, turn my back on the interrogation and look him straight in the eye. "I will fight by your side my love, If I die- then you shall be the last thing I see." Tears glitter in his eyes and I wipe them away with my thumbs as they spill delicately down his soft cheeks. "You die, I die." He mumbled sadly. I kiss the corner of his mouth and hold him closer to me. "I know. But we fight together or not at all." He takes my face in his hands and examines my expression, trying to gather the information he needed from my eyes. "We fight together." He states finally. Bringing his lips down to meet mine. I feel my knees weaken, he merely strengthens his grip on me and kept me flush against him.
"Draco" My mothers soft and intrusive voice brings me crashing back to reality. I look around to her and notice the room is suddenly very full, all remaining members of the order are standing about the room. All eyes in our direction. "Your father has suggested that we start preparing now- they will be upon us soon." I nod and pull away from my mate reluctantly. I was surprised that the youngest Weasley had be allowed to fight with us, but I think that had something to do with Sierra. I stand with my family as Harry stood with his. It was going to be a long night. I prayed that we would all walk away alive.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The order took the lead- Albus, Arthur, Molly, Remus, Shaklebolt, Tonks, Bill, Charlie, Fluer, The Twins which had been inducted a few hours ago, Severus, Ariana, Uncle Alexander, Aunty Connie, many of the professors from school, my mother and my father. Behind them stood myself, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Sierra, Xenia and Lydia. Behind us, the D.A.- which were vast in numbers. Many had not even reached puberty. We would give them a great shock when they arrived. We were armed and ready for a war which had been promised to us for a long, long time. Many sought revenge for families that had fallen, love ones that had been taken from them- most simply wanted to help take down the darkness that plagued our world.
I glanced around me and beamed. We were an army. A well formed- partly trained- army. We would give them hell before any of us fell to our graves. I feel Harry take my hand and make his way to the front of the crowd towards a make shift podium and we climbed it together. I would be his strength as he would be mine. We surveyed the masses before us and Harry pressed his wand to his neck. I smiled as his voice boomed out towards the many ears eager to drink in his words. "Tonight shall be our night!" He cried, the cheers rang out, the hoots and whistles. When it died down Harry addressed them once more. "Do not fool yourself into thinking that this will be anything like training. A practice dummy is not capable of malice or cunning. Nor is it capable of ripping your heart out of your chest with a flick of a wand." He paused for effect and allowed his words to sink in.
"Tonight you will face nightmares that your mind can not begin to drum up. Tonight you will face pure evil and tonight we shall stand VICTORIOUS!" The cheers were so loud that once they began to die down, my ears were ringing. "Please be on your guard for any attack. We want to keep our casualties at a minimum. I know and care for each and every one of you and when this is over- I hope you will all attend my wedding to Draco Malfoy." His arm circled my waist and drew me against him. I place my right palm flat against his chest and smiled. The crowd clapped and roared in approval and excitement. In the distance there was a rumble and the earth shuddered. "They have come. Let's take them down." We jumped from the podium and headed the army before us.
Strategies were in place and a large section of the group pealed away and headed for the forest and became seemingly invisible. Muggle army tactics had been a great tactical idea. "The rest of you fall back behind the welcoming party- be ready to go when we lead the rest here!" Harry was in war mode. His face was flushed and his eyes were focused. For him, this night would be the night that ended an era of pain and heartache. A chance for him to finally end the surging rage that was now consuming him. He looked down at me, brought my face to his and kissed me with a fervor that I had never experienced before. His tongue battled with mine, as tears fell between us. I didn't know who's tears they were- nor did I care. He pulled away but kept holding my face in his hands.
"I love you. With my everything, with my all. Without you I cease to be. I am held together simply by loving you and by being loved by you. We will get out of this in one piece. We will marry, bond and have our own family. Tonight the darkness ends." I cried in earnest now and held him tight to me. I was scared. So scared. I needed him to come back to me. I needed him to survive. Not for anyone else's sake but my own. "I love you." I whispered lamely back. I had no speech, no other words than that. Which seemingly was all he needed. we pulled away and looked toward our army again, who had taken my lover's cue and were hugging and talking amongst themselves. With a simply flare signal from the tip of his wand, Harry had their attention once more. "Let's move out." He squeezed my hand tight and kissed my cheek. A goodbye- for now. I was to stay with the back up team, he was leading the attack team. "Be safe" I whispered to the tense breeze as he disappeared into the forest.

(Harry's P.O.V)
I pray that leaving him alone would not lead to be my biggest mistake of the night. We knew that there was bound to be at least one attack on the house, hopefully with Draco at the lead they would all survive. Xenia and Lydia had remained behind with him. I looked around me and saw my support. They would be there to take down the minor inconveniences- the death eaters. I would be going after Voldemort. From behind us there were screams of absolute terror and pain, for a moment I froze before I forced myself to move on. This was a war. I had to remind myself of that. I couldn't save everyone, fight a whole army of darkness AND take down Voldemort. Everyone knew of the risks. We walked deeper and deeper in the forest, It was common knowledge that he wouldn't be in the first or second wave, he would stay behind with that last group and attack when he thought the masses had dwindled and their spirits weakened.
We breached a clearing in the forest that was big enough to sit us all and across the clearing they stood. At least three hundred death eaters or more. In front of them stood Voldemort and his right hand rat, Pettigrew. They would both fall, by my hand tonight. "Mr. Potter. So lovely to see you." The sarcasm dripped from the hissing voice. I smirked the smirk that I had learned from my lover and stepped forward. "You had to know I would seek you." I called. My fingers twitching around my wand, patience. The screams around us were loud and fearful. War had definitely begun and I had no idea which side was winning. "Of course Mr. Potter, how could you just sit by and allow the others to seek me? Of course you would be the one to find me. Please do not flatter yourself into thinking that you will be the one to walk away to tell the tale though."
Small movements caught my eye and I noticed that the death eaters had begun to circle us in. My group had started to square up and fan out. Our numbers slightly uneven. But a good match none the less. "It ends tonight you scaly bastard and please trust me that I will walk away." The confidence in my voice was strong. In my mind and heart- I knew I would be the one to walk away from this. "A promise to a lover perhaps Mr. Potter? A lover we have been successful in capturing?" I didn't blink. No. They couldn't have. A fluttering squeal from my side distracted me- Narcissa. Her hands were at her throat as she stared across the clearing. A tall death eater had entered carrying a lifeless white body in his arms.
NO.
My mind was screaming by now. It can't be. It took me several long breaths to regain control. Acting out of anger now would be pointless. We would lose. I smirked and bowed slowly, my eyes never breaking their hold on his deep red ones. "Congratulations." Was all I said. I knew straight away that it had thrown him off. The anger radiated from him, he didn't like that I hadn't risen to his taunts. I forced myself to have faith that the blonde across the clearing was not my mate. After several moments of silence I signaled slightly and inconspicuously to my group. They made no show of seeing, but I knew they had. With a careful but violent flick of my wrist I shouted "AVADA KADAVRA!!!!" The curse flew across the clearing and hit Pettigrew smack in the middle of his chest. The silence was booming as everyone stared at the still standing man.
It took a second before his knees buckled and he collapsed on the ground with a thud. His crumpled and lifeless body the first warning. "I see you mean business Mr. Potter. Shall we?" No sooner had he finished, the curses flew through the air. The night became multi coloured. I fought through the crowd of death eaters. Seeking my target, he was elusive, well hidden. Eventually a path was cleared and he was in full view. His wand raised he shouted a curse and flung it at me, I blocked it and sent one back. Stalemate. We circled each other, flinging curses, blocking them. Never losing sight of our goal. The clearing fell silent after an hour of battling. Hesitantly we looked around us. Bodies lay scattered everywhere. I gasped, looking to see which side had been victorious. I saw a few groups of Death eaters tied up in the centre and saw Lupin standing gaurd, he flashed me a grin and motioned that some of the pack had gone to help the others. I turned back to face my foe. Voldemort was cringing, but still confident.
"What of your troops now Tom?" I hissed. The white body lay metres from me and I refused to look. Refused to confirm what I was so fearful of being true. His head snapped towards my direction, fear and revulsion clear in his eyes. "This still isn't over Potter." He hissed, flicking curses at me again. I blocked them all. "He is too strong Harry! Let us help!" Tonks called to me from the side lines. "No! Stay where you are!" I called back strongly. I didn't need them here, I didn't need the distraction. "With your lover gone Potter, you won't last more than a week. So why don't I end it for you now?" My heart thudded violently in my chest. Surely he had to be lying. He had to be. I risked a glance at the body not to far away from us and froze. It was him. Draco lay dumped on the dirt. Blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. His eyes wide open stared at me, his clothes torn and soaked with blood. His pale skin covered in bruises. No. My mind shut down. It was over.
"See?" Voldemort whispered happily in my direction. I clenched my fists and turned to him once more. "So be it. But trust me Tom. I will kill you before I die." I flung a curse at him and swerved, trying to get closer. I raised my wand again as he was distracted and shouted "AVADA KADAVRA!" the air clicked and buzzed with the strength of the curse. All I could see was green as the ball blurred through the air at him. From behind him, in the tree line, in the darkness stood a pale figure. I gasped. Had he returned to wait with me until I died? I saw his wand raised and the second ball of green the flew towards the snake creature. Both balls struck him at the same time and for a moment he seemed to hover half a metre off the ground. His face twisted in an ugly mask of pain. Everyone around me watched as his face cracked, his body splintered and finally he fell. Finally it was over.
I looked back to the trees and saw Draco still standing there. Covered in blood. Covered in dirt. I looked to ground and roved it with my eyes, finally locating the supposed body of my lover. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I made my way to him. I struggled to get through the mass of people and to the body. I had to hold him. I had to make things right. A pair of strong arms lifted me up. It was Bill, he was grinning. I glare at him through my tears. How could he be so joyful? I was being carried away, through the forest. I fought and struggled in his arms. Trying desperately to get free. All the time trying to scream to him over the cheers and celebrations that I had to get Draco's body. I had to go back. If he heard me he didn't show it. I struggled with all my might before finally. My mind snapped and I entered into a world of darkness. A world that I prayed was death.
