Title: The Law of Horus

Summery: Takes place during Harry�s 6^th year. A new law during the summer places Hermione in situation that she doesn�t want to be in. It�s called the Law of Horus, a marriage law to try to save the wizarding world. This law takes her to places that she�s never been before and she finds hope in the most unusual places.

Chapter Thirteen: Severus Vs. Lucius

The next day Severus and Hermione went to the Ministry. It wasn�t Hermione most favorite place to be because of what they had done to Harry.

� Severus welcome back,� said Fudge. Severus glared at him, but it seemed that Fudge didn�t notice because he continued. � Lucius Malfoy wants to duel you for the right to his son to marry your wife. His wife was unable to give him an heir so-.�
� He wants my wife instead,� Severus finished. Fudge looked at him and she knew that he was still not useSeveSeverus tone.

� Well if you win then you keep your wife.�

� And if I lose my children are corrupted and made less of a human being.�

� Now I�m sure that nothing will happen to them.�
Severus looked at him as though he didn�t believe him. Lucius would do anything to make sure that his son got what he wanted, even if it meant killing him in the process. However he knew that he couldn�t back down from a wizards duel and when Fudge left he turned to Hermione.

� I want you to send a message to Dumbledore. Inform him that I�ve been challenged to a wizards duel and I need a second.�

� Very well.� And Hermione turned and left.
Dumbledore chose Harry and when Harry left he arrived and soon joined Hermione and Severus.

� Him!� Hermione looked at him, narrowing her eyes.

� What�s wrong with me. I want to get my revenge on him for laughing at me while Voldemort tortured me.�

� But Lucius is a fully qualified wizard and he knows more spells then you do,� Severus protested. He turned to his wife. � Couldn�t he pick someone else?�
� Nobody else will defend you,� Hermione explained. � It was either Harry or no one.� Severus sighed, resigning to the fact that he had no choice.

� Potter I want you to do something for me,� he said suddenly, all his sneering and cold tone gone. It was sharp and demanded attention.

� What is it Professor?�

� I want you to marry Hermione if I should die. I can�t bear to think of Draco touching her. He would make her less of a person and you know how he was during your second year.� Harry looked at Hermione and then at the Professor.

� Very well.� He patted him on the shoulder and then Fudge appeared, looked shocked to see Harry, and then opening the door he led them inside.
The room in which the duel would take place was a large round room with nothing inside it. Harry and Hermione saw Lucius, wearing his Azkaban robes talking to Draco who were both plotting something.

� I don�t like this, I don�t like this at all,� said Hermione, repeating the same words that she had used when they were faced with the giant chess set back in their first year.

� I agree.� Fudge closed the door and walked up to them.

� Now the rules are simple. Each of you will attempt to cast your spells in order to defeat the one another. Now the outside is shielded and Aurors are standing by if any of you cast the Unforgiveables.� Severus saw Moody and Tonks and from their looks thookeooked like they didn�t care uciuucius was killed by Severus and it gave him some hope.

� Do you have your second?�

� Yes Fudge,� replied both Lucius and Severus at the same time.
� Good, now come forth.� Both men walked up and Hermione bit her lip. � Wands at the ready.� They brought their wands out and put them in front of them.

� Three-two-one.�

� Stupefy,� yelled Lucius. Severus dived and he avoided the spell. It bounced off the shield and disappeared.
Severus pointed his wand at Lucius and yelled � Expelliarmus.� Lucius was hit and his wand went up in the air. Severus grabbed it, sneering at him.

� Severus has won,� Fudge announced. Hermione and Harry both cheered.

� Thank you Minister, but now I would really like to return home. We only have a few months before they arrive and I would like to enjoy it with the people that care about me.�
Fudge smiled at him and then Tonks and Moody led Lucius away. He didn�t say anything, which for Severus was a first. The Professors were all pleased when Severus returned with Hermione and Harry. Dumbledore was glad that he hadn�t been hurt and those that supported Hermione and what she had done so far with her life, joined the staff in the staff room to celebrate.

� I thought for sure that it would be a trial,� said Professor Sprout. Hermione nodded her agreement.

� I didn�t think that Lucius would have the nerve to do that.� Harry looked at Ron, but said nothing.

� So how much longer?� Asked Professor Flitwick. At those words both Hermione and Severus smiled.

� Well counting this mouth, four months,� answered Hermione. � I can�t wait to, you know that I now have stretch marks!�
Ginny and Lavender both laughed at that, but Severus didn�t get what was so funny. The next morning when Severus woke up he saw that his wife was gone. Must have gone out, Severus thought as he got bathed and dres How However the sheets started to move and Hermione appeared, the size of a doll.

� Oh no,� squeaked Hermione, looking at herself. � I�m a doll.� She found her wand and muttering a spell she fitted herself into a dress and shirt, then she walked out. The world was much different in doll form.
It took her forever to get up the stairs and when she finally did she found a world of giants. She had to keep from getting stepped on. Finally she caught sight of Lavender and knew that she was heading to class. She grabbed hold of her robes and followed her wherever she was going. It turned out that she was heading for advance Herbology. When Lavender settled in her spot Hermione climbed up and landed on the table.
� Lavender,� Hermione called. Lavender looked around and then down and when she saw her, she gasped. Professor Sprout looked at her, an eyebrow raised.

� Is there a problem Miss Brown?� She asked. Lavender ld upd up.

� Um Professor I have to go to the bathroom,� she lied. The Professor sighed, but before she could say anything else Lavender took Hermione and raced out.
When the Headmaster saw her, he chuckled. Hermione had her foot tapping against the oak desk looking just like Severus did when he was around Dumbledore.

� I don�t know what you think is so funny about all this,� she hissed. � But I�m finding it running a little thin.� He chucked again and Hermione had to put her hands over her ears.

� What are we going to do Albus?� Professor McGonagall asked.
� Well first of all we have to figure out how in the world she got like this. I�ve never heard of a student being able to shrink herself. It usually takes a potion to do that.�

� Should I get Severus?� Dumbledore nodded and McGonagall swept from the room. Severus thought that whole � doll� thing was just as funny as Dumbledore thought it was. Hermione started to get red, but with her being such a small size it didn�t scare him.
� Well aren�t you going to help me?� She asked, going even redder. He sat down and looked at his wife.

� Well let�s see-um I don�t know.�

� Severus you will change me back to normal or so help me, I�ll turn you into a toad.� He grinned at her, but in the end promised that he would.
