Trick, Treat or Threat?
“A what?” Cornelius Fudge asked. He had been hurriedly summoned by Dumbledore in light of the circumstances of that day to discuss if there was a threat to the school.
“It was like a Centaur,” Harry said. “But half lion instead of horse.”
“I’ve never heard of such a creature before,” Snape said with a scowl.
“There are many things Underhill you have never seen before,” Dannon said.
“I’m sorry,” Fudge said turning to him. “You are again?”
“Dannon,” Dumbledore spoke up, “is wizard from Ireland. He is an expert on history and legends of the High Elves.”
“Yes,” Fudge continued. “What makes you think this creature is from ‘Underhill’ you called it?”
“As Professor Snape observed, it is unknown in the World Above. Where else could it have come from?”
“Where ever it and the creatures with it came from, they are inside the outer wards around the castle and the forest.” Dumbledore said. “Their presence combined with the images in Professor Trelawny’s crystal ball suggests that the school may be in danger.” Dumbledore said. “That is why I called you here Cornelius, to discuss what to do.”
“Before we get too carried away Professor Dumbledore, there is another far more likely explanation we should consider.” Ms. Goodbody said leaning forward.
“And what would that be?” Fudge asked.
She turned to Harry.
“Potter, why were you in the forest?” She asked looking at him pointedly.
“I was playing with Mr. Coyote and Hanako when they ran into the forest.” Harry said. “I followed to warn them that the forest could be dangerous.”
“I see, so I think it is safe to say you wouldn’t have been there if you hadn’t been following Mr. Coyote?”
“I guess that’s right.”
“And it is possible that Mr. Coyote wanted you to follow him?”
Harry looked confused.
“What are you getting at?” Kit said standing.
“That perhaps Mr. Potter did not actually see what he thought he saw.”
Kit’s jaw dropped.
“Whaa….Wha…What?” He stammered.
“Kit, sit down,” Shippo said putting on his ‘clan leader’ voice. “Perhaps you would care to explain yourself, Ms. Goodbody.”
With an incantation muttered under her breath, Goodbody waved a hand and large colorful book appeared. She quickly flipped through the pages and held it open to Harry.
“Is this what you saw?”
Harry looked at the figure in the book surrounded with text and charts.
“Yes, that’s it.”
“A Lamia,” she said and flipped to another page. “Is this the other ones?”
“Yes.”
“Gnolls,” she said closing the book. “I suspect you recognize this book, Mr. Coyote.”
“It’s the monster manual from Dungeons and Dragons. I used to play the game.”
“Then you probably also know these creatures are fiction and don’t exist.”
She tossed the book on the table.
“Exhibit one. Now consider the other points of Mr. Potter’s story, a Centaur providing a Human with information on the future. How often does that happen?”
“It is not unheard of, if their vision of the future interprets events to show that they must be involved.” Dumbledore said.
“Still it’s exceedingly rare. No I think this was all an elaborate illusion, a prank. It is well known that Coyote is called the trickster, it is likely his children take after him.
“But what about the crystal ball?” Professor McGonagall asked.
“An illusion,” Snape spoke up. “Either set up in advance by Mr. Coyote or more likely by his Kitsune friends who were present. The Kitsune are renowned illusionists.”
Shippo, Toshiro and Kit stood up.
“This is no prank,” Kit said coldly.
“So you say.” Goodbody said.
With a huff, the Canines marched out of the room. Dannon followed.
“Minerva, Severus, would you and Harry leave us for a moment?” Dumbledore said.
“Well…so it was all just a little lark.” Fudge said oblivious to the tension in the room. “I’m so relieved.”
“Endora, was it necessary to embarrass our guests?” Dumbledore said frowning.
“Yes, you don’t understand how dangerous tricksters and shape shifters like them can be. You should never have invited them here.”
“I remember your father well, Endora. Arthur was quite the trickster himself and I never considered him a threat.”
“Perhaps but he was not some coyote half bred that is infected by a werewolf!”
“Werewolf?” Fudge looked alarmed.
“Mr. Coyote was attacked in Diagon Alley by someone or something that bit him.” Dumbledore explained then turned back to Ms. Goodbody. “But it was broad daylight and according to the reports your own physician cleared him of lycanthropy.”
He turned back to Fudge.
“Look Cornelius, all things considered, I think it is only prudent to increase security around the school.”
“Albus, I really don’t want to create a panic over a harmless prank. Tell you what, I’ll send an Auror to monitor the situation for awhile, how about that?”
“Just one?”
“That’s the best I can do under the circumstances.” Fudge said standing up. “I’ll have him out here first thing in the morning.”
He left the office muttering something about ‘cute little foxes’ accompanied by Goodbody.
~~~
Kit slammed the door to his room and stalked round in circles his tail twitching in agitation.
“That…that…BITCH!” He yelled slamming the bed post.
“Here, there is no call for that type of language!” The Victorian man in the picture frame next to him said.
Kit was certain the man was related to the woman at the Cauldron, he certainly shared her prejudices against ‘uncivilized beasts’ and was more than willing to share them.
“Shut up!” Kit yelled at the portrait, a tube appearing in his hand. “I have paint thinner and I’m not afraid to use it so just shut your trap. You don’t want to see me or hear my FUCKING language, go find some other picture frame to haunt. Everybody got that!”
The various pictures around the room nodded hurriedly and wandered out of sight.
Kit jumped with a start as a hand touched his shoulder. He whirled with a growl that turned into a strangled yip at the sight of Dannon’s face.
“Dannon! I…”
“I wanted to make sure you were all right lad,” the dark haired elf said.
“You think it was all a joke too?”
“No, I don’t. Oh, Old Coyote is quite the trickster and you certainly didn’t fall far from the tree as far as that goes but you are also honest and I don’t think you would put young Harry in danger just for a joke.”
Dannon looked thoughtful for a moment.
“That Harry is interesting young lad; I sense great potential in him.”
“Isn’t he a little young for you?” Kit said a bit sarcastically.
“Oh you wound me; I would never take advantage of an underage innocent.”
“That didn’t stop you taking advantage of my innocence.” Kit said surprised and relieved to be able to say it.
“You were a fine lad of 28 and very willing at that,” Dannon said. His smile softened as he reached out and stroked Kit’s hair. “But an innocent just the same, do you really mind so much that I cracked your shell?”
“No…” Kit said quietly, unable to say more in the conflicting emotions Dannon’s touch raised in him. How could he not have wanted that and yet how could he explain the impact it had on him afterward. The constant switching from lover to lover trying to unsuccessfully recapture some measure of that first experience.
He turned away from the Elf and dropped down on the bed.
“My life has gotten so complicated lately,” he sighed.
Dannon sat beside him and started massaging his shoulders. Kit’s eyes closed at the touch.
“You’re so tense lad, relax.”
Kit let out a low moan as Dannon worked the tense muscles in his shoulders.
Neither of them noticed the door opening slightly or the orange colored cat quietly slipping into the room.
Kit slowly relaxed at the touch of those talented hands. The touch that brought back so many memories. He felt the bed move as Dannon shifted. He opened his eyes and found himself looking directly into the brilliant green eyes with their cat like pupils. Dannon leaned forward and kissed him.
“Dannon, I…”
“Shush lad, you’ve changed so much from before. The cares and burdens of this mortal world weigh heavily on you. Come away with me to our special place Underhill, there you can have all the time you need to recover from the cruel lies of these mortals.”
“I can’t. I have responsibilities, Hanako and there is another.”
“They’ll never know you were gone.” Dannon ventured hopefully.
“I still can’t.”
Dannon took Kit’s chin in his hand.
“Then, my precious Kit, at least let me help ease your burden this one night.”
He kissed Kit again and as much as the Coyote knew he shouldn’t allow this to happen, he was overwhelmed by the feelings and memories his old lover awakened in him.
The kiss grew more passionate as Dannon’s hands found their way into Kit’s clothing.
As their growing passionate moans filled the roam, neither noticed the cat leave again.
~~~
The red haired boy moved hurriedly through the halls seeking the target of his hunt. Then he saw it up ahead and broke into a quick jog.
“Mr. Shippo, Sir!” He called.
The Kitsune turned and looked at the boy coming up to him.
“Hello, Ron isn’t it?”
“Yes sir, Mr. Coyote was looking for you.”
“He was?”
“Yes, sir. He went to his room. He seemed rather upset.”
“Yes, he would be.” Shippo said. “I better go check on him. Thank you Master Ron.”
The red haired boy watched as the Kitsune went down hall towards Kit’s room. As the Kitsune passed out of his sight, he smiled.
~~~
Kit cried out in passion as his body arched under Dannon’s attentions. He had forgotten how intensely powerful lovemaking with the Sidhe was and his body ached with the memories of the orgasmic heights he had experience before with Dannon Underhill. The current pleasures were but a fraction of that, but like a taste of an exotic drug it left him hungering for more.
Dannon stroked his hands over the sweat covered body beneath him, the magical energies that made up the Elven Knight’s being interacting with the Coyote’s. The strange and unique nature of Kit was what had drawn Dannon to the half breed so many years ago. While young by Elven standards he had had many lovers--Sidhe, Human and Spirit--before but Kit was such an interesting blend of Spirit and Mortal, Human and Animal, Magic and Earth, Order and Chaos. He was utterly unique and nothing intrigued an immortal Sidhe more than the unique.
Dannon stroked Kit’s hardened manhood as he kissed and slid his bare chest against Kit’s. Kit’s passion neared its peak and Dannon felt his magic interacting with Kit’s more Earthy magics. He felt the bond forming, a mental sharing that normally formed between two Sidhe but he had always been able to form it with Kit during the height of passion. At that moment, their thoughts and feelings were one. The height of shared passion. As Kit cried out in ecstasy, splattering his seed over his stomach and the Elf’s hand, Dannon felt Kit’s climax and added his own to it.
And at that moment, Dannon knew. Knew that his effort to bring some comfort to his one time lover was wrong and may have even made things worse. He felt the love bond Kit had formed with Shippo, the betrayal, the hate and through it all the love that had persisted tormenting both. He expressed his regret through the fading link, felt it accepted and then it was gone.
The gasp brought Dannon’s awareness back to the world around him. He was holding the spent Kit in his arms. Standing in the open doorway, a look of hurt on his face, was Shippo.
