Giving In
James lay curled up on the soft mattress covered only by a wool blanket when Voldemort entered the room a satisfied smirk on his lips. “Are you going to keep fighting me, or do the smart thing and give in,” his raspy voice echoed in the small room.
The dark haired wizard lay silent for a moment. “What other choice do I have,” he spoke suddenly in a weak tone.
Voldemort grinned triumphantly. “I always knew you were intelligent. So you’re going to be mine willingly?”
James nodded fighting down the bile that was rising in his throat. He had to keep reminding himself that it was the only way he was going to get out of this mess. “Are you still going to keep me locked up in here?”
“Yes, for now. I want to see just how much your attitude has really changed before I give you the keys to my castle.”
The dark wizard rolled James over onto his back and leaned over him, lowering his head down to kiss him softly. Everything inside James wanted to tear himself away, but he closed his eyes and returned the kiss. Voldemort sat up and smiled down at him. “I finally have my prize,” he hissed.
He stood and made his way toward the door. “I’ll send a house elf in later to help you clean up. Then I’ll be back after dinner to claim you fully.”
With that he left locking the door behind him. James sighed softly and prayed that he could get through this with what was left of his sanity in tact.

Lucius had looked everywhere for a craftsman who could make him a slave collar, but he wasn’t having much luck. Slave collars were a thing of the middle ages. No modern wizard really had need for them. Modern wizards who owned slaves owned house elves who were bound by a different kind of magic. The blond did get one lead however. And that was how he found himself walking down the cobbled streets of Falas Dar’.
Falas Dar’ was a small elfish village on the southwestern coast of England. It was also the one and only sea port of Atlantis in Britain. If a wizard wanted to buy elfish goods that was where they had to go.
Lucius kept glancing down at the directions in his hand as he made his way through the crowded streets. Most of the elves around him only came up to his chest making him feel like giant. He couldn’t help but laugh when his thoughts drifted to the Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid. ‘Now I get to see things from his point of view’, he thought.
The blond wizard sighed deeply when he saw the sign for the blacksmith. He opened the door and banged his head on the frame as he entered. Muttering a few curse words under his breath he stood inside the dimly lit room and looked around.
It wasn’t long before he was approached with a sturdy looking elf with soot smudges on his face and chest and his chestnut hair pulled back in a tight braid. “What brings you here today wizard,” the blacksmith spoke in a less than friendly tone.
Lucius had to bite his tongue and compose himself before he could speak. “I was told that I might be able to purchase a slave collar from you.”
“A slave collar…” the elf repeated. “I haven’t had a wizard come in to my shop asking for a slave collar in a good hundred years or so. May I inquire as to why you want one? I don’t want the Ministry of Magic pounding on my door.”
“I understand completely. But this is a very special circumstance.”
“Just tell me it doesn’t have anything to do with Lord Voldemort. And remember, I’ll know if you’re lying.”
“It does, and it doesn’t. It’s hard to explain. But I can assure you that if you make it for me it will be used against him.”
Lucius stood still for a moment while the elf studied him closely. “I suppose that’s good enough for me,” he said finally. “Did you want a plain collar or something fancy?”
The blond reached into his robe pocket and pulled out a drawing. “This is what it needs to look like.”
The elf took the drawing and studied it. “I suppose that won’t be too hard. I can have it for you in two weeks, and it won’t be cheap.”
“Two weeks! I need it sooner.”
“It’s two weeks or nothing. I’m going to have to order special materials for this.”
“Fine then. I’ll be back for it in two weeks.”
As he turned to leave his ears caught the words “stupid ichnalee”. He ignored it and continued walking. James had once told him it was a word that elves used for humans; wizards especially. It was along the same lines as calling a muggle born a mudblood in the wizarding world. Loosely translated it meant ‘he who bows to dirt’. It was quite obvious that elves didn’t have a very high opinion of humans. James told him once of a great war fought thousands of years ago where humans, elves, and dwarves came together to defeat a common enemy. The blond wizard sighed again and apparated himself back home.

A/N: I know, this one was short even by normal standards. It’s kind of a transition chapter I’ll call it. It didn’t really fit with anything else, and I wanted to post something since it’s been a few days. I hope you enjoy it anyway. Please leave a review. It’s painless I promise.
