AN: Neville is with werewolves acting as a prisoner to distract the Order, only Severus,Draco,Harry,Sirius, and two other Death Eaters are in the forest right now. One reviewer didn't know why I used “Marching toward the school” with Death Eaters, they are an army, and to me marching is when a large group is walking the same pace toward something; I am also pretty sure they marched in 4^th and 7^th years. Harry still doesn't have the dark mark.
AN2: I am back from Japan and finally got back to a writing mood, so here is the rest of the chapter!
Harry stood in the Forbidden Forest, glancing at Severus and Sirius, both men talking in hushed voiced to each other. Draco looked worried, his eyes darting around the area, listening for any twigs snapping. The other two Death Eaters kept their wands out, they knew that there were dangerous wild animals and centaurs in the forest; it would be bad if they let Harry get killed by letting their guards down. The ground shook under their feet, the men and two boys, moved closer together, watching as giants stomped through the forest. Trees fell in the giants pathway, Harry and Draco watching, it was the first time both of them had seen real giants, and it was scary. Death Eaters were leading the group of giants through the forest, they acknowledged Harry's group, and continued toward the school.
“How the bloody hell are half-giants even born...” Draco thought out loud.
Sirius let out a small laugh, muttering something about it being like a Chihuahua mating with an Irish Wolfhound, Severus and the other two Death Eaters rolling their eyes, and Harry wondered the same thing as Draco. The fifteen and sixteen year old boys started shifting their legs, they had gone to classes and training for the battle, and all they were doing was standing in a forest, away from the battle. Draco badly wanted to make sure that Neville was alright, that Aurors wouldn't see through their facade of being prisoners, but their orders were to wait in the forest and watch for Aurors or other allies to The Order, that could be trying to come from their direction.
Their group then heard the loud explosions coming from the direction of the school, they looked through the trees and could barely see the flashes of light coming from the spells being cast. Harry looked up at the sky, watching Granian horses fly over head with Aurors on their backs. “Up there!” he called the attention of his companions, the Death Eaters quickly sending hexes into the sky. Harry and Draco watched as the hexes struck the flying horses, the Aurors riding them falling to the ground screaming in pain as they hit, the horses collapsing beside them or in two cases, on top of the already injured Aurors.
“You bleeding bastards!” One of the Aurors coughed, blood coming from his mouth, reaching for his wand, which was only a few inches out of reach, and the Granian he was riding on was crushing his legs. The other horse crushed Auror laid dead under his own horse, his eyes rolled back, and wand held tightly in his hand. “I told them...I told them it was a horrible idea to use these beast as transportation, we should have Apparated, and now this happened!” he continued to pull himself out from under the horse, keeping his eyes on the Death Eaters walking toward him and his coworkers.
“Don't you dare Apparate!” A female Auror cried out, pointing her wand at the horse. “Wingardium Leviosa!” she lefted it off of the man, turning her wand to the Death Eaters, eyes darting to their one other companion, the man had broken his neck in the fall. “It's just you and me Ivati, it's up to us to take these bastards dow-”
“Avada Kedavra!” Rang the voices of the Death Eaters, Ivati having just grabbed hold of his wand to send an attack. The female Auror quickly shielded herself from the killing curse, her heart racing, sending a string of stunning spells at the group of six. The woman's other arm was broken from the fall, but Aurors were trained to apprehend criminals.
“Do you think stunning spells are doing you any good?!” laughed the female Death Eater. “You Ministry dogs, you're all fools! Keeping to your justice in a time of war! You just talk and don't even send a maiming spell? Just to send us to Azkaban? We just killed three of your friends and many more are dying as we continue this little game! Just die! You have no hope of stopping all of us!” as she spoke, she continued to send wordless spells at the Auror woman.
Severus moved through the trees, getting behind the woman, and sending the killing curse at her back while she was distracted by the Death Eater. “Can we stop playing with them and just kill them...watching them try to fight like that gets boring and just waste time.” he sighed. Only the female Death Eater had been actually sending back spells, the other five just stood back watching and blocking the spells sent at them; Harry had been about to step in and finish the Auror, but Sirius had grabbed his arm.
“I'm bored just standing here, lets just go to the actual battle! I don't care if the Dark Lord told you to keep myself and Harry out of the main battle, with such a lame objective as “stay in the woods and watch for Aurors.” I know it isn't some coincidence that myself,Harry,Snape, and Malfoy are part of this little group.” Sirius cracked his neck side to side. “The boys have trained for this, they are ready for the battle, aren't you?” he glanced at Draco and Harry.
“I can't just stay here while my father ...and Neville....are out there doing more dangerous things...I'm with Black, we have to go to the battle, and I don't care what my parents had the Dark Lord promise.” Draco walked passed the dead bodies of the Aurors, his wand out. “I'm not going to be thought of as the spoiled chicken when this is over!”
Harry took in a small breath, pulling his arm away from Sirius. “I've already crossed the line of right and wrong, I don't even know which is which anymore.” he glanced at Severus. “I killed Mrs.Weasley...she was the closest thing to a mother to me and I killed her...ever since finding out about my parents, my mind has been so cloudy, I can't even think straight.” swallowing he, began to move in the direction Draco was heading. “I know they were using me now, that it was all under Dumbledore's orders, but I can't help but continue to think that some of how they treated me was real. I am going to finish down the path I have chosen, be it right or wrong, I am on my parents and lovers side.”
“Stubborn as ever...Very well, you win Black, both the boys wish to go into battle.” Severus pinched the bridge of his nose, following after Harry and Draco.
Sirius looked over at the other two Death Eaters. “Come on then, unless you two wish to stay here and keep guard.” he ran after the group, putting an arm around Harry's shoulders. “I'm sorry all this has had to happen to you...after the war...I promise things will be better and I'll be a proper mum.” he grinned at Harry. “Buy your clothes,cook your meals, take and show embarrassing photos of you around to all your friends.”
“Please tell me you are joking...” Harry shivered at the thought.
“Well, I did get some baby pictures of you and still have them some place, I will just have to show those around.” Sirius laughed as his son elbowed him.
“...The fact you two can joke around at such a time is...unsettling...” Severus mumbled from the other side of Harry.
Draco had stopped up ahead of them, they noticed the other two Death Eaters had decided to stay behind where they were ordered to be. They could hear the roar of battle cries in the distance, see the flashes of spells being cast. “I hope Neville's group is going according to plan....” he felt Harry pat him on the back.
“He will be fine...we will win the war...I just want everything to be over, I want to live a semi-normal life with my dad not trying to kill me, having no one expecting things of me, or people using me.” Harry looked at Sirius, then at Severus, giving them a small smile. “Even if we do lose, I-” he was cut off by Severus pulling him into a hug.
“Enough talk...” Severus kissed Harry, holding the boy close. “We will have more time to talk later, for now lets go.”
They headed out of the forest, Sirius rolling his eyes and laughing at the affection Severus showed his son. Harry's breath caught as he saw the smoke and lights of spells, the yelling of the Aurors and Death Eaters being louder now. He thought that with all the death he'd seen on the path he'd chosen, it would not have effected him to know that the students of Hogwarts were defending the school with all their might, but he couldn't help but feel wrong about them dying in such a way.
“They have placed a barrier around the school, how are we going to get in now?” Draco frowned.
“I know how...We need to go to Hogsmeade. Severus and Sirius, can you guys apparate us there?” Harry questioned the older men.
Sirius put a hand to his face, feeling like a fool. “Of course! The map! How could I forget...there is a secret passage way in the Honeydukes basement.” he groaned. “But it will take at least an hour to get into the school that way and that slide is a right pain in the arse to climb up.”
“It is a way in though, it would take longer for us to try and destroy the barrier and avoid being stopped by Aurors.” Severus grabbed a hold of Harry. “Lets just go, I am guessing not many even know of this entrance?”
“The Weasley twins know about it, but as they think Sirius and I are dead, they would assume no one else knows about it or the map.” Harry put his arms around Severus, Draco reluctantly doing the same to Sirius, and they apparated outside Honeydukes.
Hogsmeade was another battle zone, was, there were dead bodies of Aurors and Death Eaters, as well casualties. The battle had moved back toward the castle, Harry and Severus walked to the door, and noticed Draco and Sirius standing back. “Is there a problem?” Severus asked, looking at his old enemy.
“Malfoy and I are going to take the other way into Hogwarts, the shrieking shack, its best for us to split up here. Just in case one of the passageways were blocked off.” Sirius rubbed the back of his neck. “It will really suck if both are being defended or closed off, but our chances are better if we do it this way.” he smiled and grabbed Harry giving him a hug. “See you on school grounds kiddo.”
Harry hugged his mother back, closing his eyes. “Don't get yourselves killed, not after all this.”
“Same goes for you two.” Sirius pulled back. “Now get going, come on Malfoy!” he ran off toward the shack, Draco glancing back at Harry and Severus, before following after his cousin.
Severus took the lead, his wand out, and they headed into the basement. Harry moved a box off the trap door, opening it, and heading down the stairs. The twist and turns caused Severus to make some complaints about rather having switched places with Sirius and Draco, Harry had only used the passageway once before, so even to him it felt tighter than it had two years ago. It seemed like the castle was trying to keep them out, the walls got narrower as they went on, and it was an hour and a half before they managed to get to the stone slide.
They placed their hands on each side of the wall, shimmying forward up the slide, their shoes struggling to keep traction. They'd made it to the top and behind the statue, both were wary of what they would be seeing in the halls, and Harry tapped the back of the statue. “Dissendium!” he cried out, trying not to be too loud, and the statue moved.
The hall was empty, they could hear students crying from one of the other halls. Now all that Harry hoped for was that Sirius and Draco had managed to get in alright, he and Severus hugged the wall with their backs, and glanced around. When they were sure the coast was clear, they headed toward Dumbledore's office.
