Saturday Adventures
Harry groaned when he felt someone shaking him and calling his name. He swatted in front of his face and burrowed deeper into his pillow. He thought he heard a small chuckle, but in his half-asleep state, it could have been anything. He felt the shaking again which prompted him to roll onto his back and throw his arm over his eyes.Go away, you disembodied whatever. I want to sleep. It’s a Saturday. I should be asleep, Harry thought.Harry felt the covers being pulled away, resulting in his body producing large tremors from the cool air. The bed dipped down beside him and he felt a hand trail over his side, drawing a small giggle out of him. He nearly jumped out of his skin when a warm pair of lips pressed a kiss to the scar on his lower abdomen. His free hand came up, coming in contact with soft hair.As the kisses continued along his scar, Harry thought it may be Draco. The blonde seemed to delight in kissing him every chance he got. Except the deep chuckle against his skin most definitely was not Draco’s. Harry pulled his arm away from his eyes and confirmed his suspicions when he looked down into a pair of obsidian eyes.Severus smiled at him as he brought his hand up to pull Harry’s hand away from his hair. He linked their fingers together as he brought their joined hands down to kiss Harry’s hand. Harry couldn’t help, but return the smile.“It’s time to get up, Harry. You’ve slept in long enough,” Severus told him, gently.Harry closed his eyes and leaned his head back with a yawn.“WhYYY?” Harry said, yawning at the end.Severus slid up the bed so he could sit up against the headboard. He pulled Harry’s fatigued body onto his lap and swept the hair out of Harry’s face.“We’re going into town today and it’s already getting late into the morning. If you don’t get up now, you may never get to sleep tonight,” Severus explained.Harry smiled against his shoulder before turning said smile upwards.“Is that really such a bad thing?” Harry asked.Severus surprised him with the small snicker that escaped him. He buried his face in the thick brown hair and kissed the lightning bolt-shaped scar.“You’re getting as bad as Draco.” Chuckle. “I see our Slytherin side is wearing off on you.”Severus frowned when he felt Harry’s grin through his shirt.“Or maybe it’s my Slytherin side finally coming out to play. After all…the Sorting Hat did want to put me there.”Severus threaded a hand through the back of Harry’s head and gently pulled his head away. He made sure emerald green eyes were looking up at him before he spoke. With his other hand, he reached up to tap Harry on the nose.“You will be explaining that on our way to town. Now, if you do not get into the shower in ten seconds, I shall throw you in…with freezing cold water.”Harry whipped around, sliding himself off Severus’ lap and off the bed. He bolted into the bathroom and slammed the door shut. Severus shook his head while standing.“Come downstairs when you’re finished!” Severus called out to him.“Okay!” Harry’s muffle voice through the door.Severus walked out into the hall and down the stairs. As he went, he rolled his shirt sleeves up to his elbow. His jacket and Harry’s were snatched from the closet near the front door. He carried them into the kitchen and laid them down on the counter. Severus proceeded to fix up a small breakfast plate for Harry which he set down at the island when Harry came trudging in.“Don’t even think about it,” Severus warned him when Harry opened his mouth.Harry’s mouth snapped shut. He picked up his fork, speared a piece of fruit, and put it in his mouth. He had been planning to protest about eating, but then Severus had reminded him that he had missed dinner last night. Plus, his stomach was growling something fierce. Harry speared some more fruit and shoved it in.He was surprised by how quickly he devoured his breakfast. It turned out he had been hungrier than he had originally thought. He stood up with his plate, but Severus calling his name made him pause. He glanced up at the sink where the older wizard was standing.“Levitate your plate to the sink,” Severus told him.Harry sat back down on his stool. He stared down at his plate before glancing back over at Severus. He recalled, before the Hufflepuff moment last night, that Severus had advised he use magic with several breaks in between. It was supposed to be a way of helping him to expand his usage of his magic.Harry put the plate back down and lifted his hand towards it. Severus held his breath as the plate lifted into the air in front of Harry. The young wizard moved his hand forward, almost as if pushing the plate across the air. The plate floated softly, wavering just a little bit, but not dropping until it was hovering over the sink. Harry winced when he judged the depth of the sink wrong and the plate clattered loudly.“It’s all right, Harry,” Severus assured him.Harry managed a small smile as Severus walked around the island to stand beside him. He swept some hair out of Harry’s face before dipping down to place a soft kiss on his mouth. Harry tilted his head back while returning the kiss. When they parted, Harry couldn’t help but think of his parents. More in particular, his mom.Did his older lover see his mother when he looked at him? Cupping Harry’s cheek, Severus brushed his thumb across his bottom lip. This brought his attention back up to the Potions Master.“When I look at you, I see parts of your mother…and your father. But you are your own person, Harry. Your mother knew I cared for her like a sister,” Severus told him.Harry let out a small chuckle.“That’s cheating, Severus,” Harry said, the taste of his lover’s name still foreign on his tongue.Severus gave him another peck on the lips.“Contrary to popular belief, I do not use Legilimency that often. It’s called knowing your lover and being able to read them without the need of such means,” Severus whispered to him.The smile that broke out across the young lion’s face was worth the mushy moment. Severus reached out and snagged Harry’s jacket to hand it to him. Harry stood up from the island and yanked his pullover down over his head. Severus reached up to flatten his hair down after the yanking down messed up his hair. With that done, the two left the house for town. They stopped for a moment to let Harry water his flowers. They were looking nice and Harry was taking good care of them. They were full of bright colors, a variety of colors that lit up the patch of the yard it lay in. While he was watering the flowers, Harry explained what he had meant earlier on about the Slytherin comment.“And Draco’s the main reason you told the Sorting Hat not to sort you into Slytherin?” Severus asked, lightly.Harry flashed him a guilty smile.“Draco was an ass,” Harry said, plain and simple.Severus barked out a laugh. He caught Harry’s hand when he stepped back over to him. He threaded their fingers together before tugging Harry towards the path.“Yes. I’m afraid a younger Draco was a bit of a brat. And Draco is well aware of that,” Severus told him.Harry snickered. He imagined Draco didn’t like being considered a brat. They walked along the path where Harry had once gathered potions ingredients. Along the way, Harry discussed the court case with Severus. He told him what Lucius had reported from the opening arguments and they discussed the court favor Harry had been granted.Like Lucius had said, Severus was able to explain how the court favor could work to his advantage. He listed off a few ideas which Harry recalled being on the suggested list Lucius had given him. Harry told him a few more ideas in which Severus provided him a second opinion. By the time they reached the fountain entrance leading into town, Harry had made his decision.“What do you think?” Harry asked.Severus quietly chuckled.“I think you’ve made a wise decision, Harry. A greedy man would have thought of money and a man thinking only of the end would have thought of not allowing retaliation as a possibility. Your decision is well thought out and I know Lucius will agree,” Severus answered, truthfully.Harry blushed before looking around him. It was a small, countryside town that reminded Harry of an old children’s movie with this Hermione-like character. The thought of Hermione made Harry quirk a little smile. He thought he might compose a letter to her later that day with a photo of Daniela’s drawing hanging up on the fridge. The town was bustling with people both muggle and wizard. The only difference being that everyone was dressed in muggle clothing. Harry was nearly bowled over by a small blur of blue and red. The only thing that prevented him from falling over backwards was Severus’ hand keeping a tight grip on him. When Harry snapped his head down, he found a very familiar face staring back up at him.“Mister Quie’ Man!” Connor smiled.Harry squeezed Severus’ hand which released his. He reached out to pick Connor up and hold him up by his waist with Connor’s legs wrapped loosely around it.“Hello, Connor. Where’s your mom?” Harry asked.“Mommy’s over dere,” Connor said, twisting around in his arms to point.Standing outside one of the shops, Connor’s mother was discussing something with another woman. She smiled over at Harry. It seemed, like her son, she recognized the young man. Connor twisted back around and bounced happily in Harry’s arms. Harry was surprised when the young boy’s gaze shifted to Severus and his smile brightened.“Mister Snape! You know Quie’ Man?” Connor asked.Severus was truly a surprise. He reached up to pay the little boy on the back and greeted him in return.“I do know him. But it seems you had not asked his name. Connor, this is Harry,” Severus introduced.Connor threw his arms up to hug Harry around the neck.“I like Mister Harry! He finded me when I got lost at da hostical,” Connor told Severus.Having been around the boy several times, Severus knew Connor was prone to getting away from his mother. He surmised that Harry must have come across him while he was at Saint Mungo’s. He glanced up and greeted Connor’s mother as she approached.“Hello, Ilene,” Severus said, reaching out to shake her hand.“Hello, Severus. Thank you for those pepper-up potions. They did just the trick,” Ilene replied.“No complications, then,” Severus hinted.Ilene shook her head. “No, no. Nothing of the sort.”Her smile shifted to Harry and, like her son, her smile lit up even more.“Hello. It’s so nice to see you again. I want to thank you again for helping Connor,” Ilene told him.Harry told her it was no problem. Blushing, Ilene apologized for not asking for his name before.“I’m afraid I was still quite shaken up by the broom accident and Connor running off on me,” Ilene replied.Harry smiled shyly.“That’s okay. My name’s Harry.” Harry paused. “Harry Potter, mam.”Ilene’s eyes widened a bit as she glanced from Harry to Severus. Connor, having heard the name before, looked up at the barely concealed lightning bolt scar. With no one’s attention on him, Connor brought his hands up to hold Harry’s head still. A startled Harry stayed still as Connor gently pulled his head down. The small child leaned forward to press a soft kiss to the lightning bolt scar. His scar tingled, but the small gesture brought a smile to his face. Connor hugged his head while murmuring, “Nice Mister Harry.” Ilene smiled at her son’s kind nature and whispered an Amen to that.Severus and Harry spent a few minutes with them chatting about this and that. After that, they parted ways in opposite directions. Severus took Harry over to the pet shop where there was a large assortment of animals, small and big, mammalian and aviary. They even had a back room full of magical creatures that witches and wizards could look at.Harry felt sad hearing the hisses of the snakes. He wasn’t yet ready to have another snake living with him. There were plenty of nice and cute pets, but none that really piqued his interest. Sensing this, Severus pulled him from the store and down the cobblestones to a different shop. The sign outside read as CD’s Shop. Although it appeared to be small from the outside, the shop was wide with a variety of things adorning the shelves. There was a couch and some armchairs serving as a reading area in a corner by a fireplace. A young woman that bore a strong resemblance to Draco was shelving some books when she heard the bell above the door jingle. Her face lit up when she saw Severus.“Sevvy!”All the sudden, Harry burst out laughing. He let go of Severus’ hand and threw an arm around his stomach as he laughed. Severus glared at the young woman before turning a less lethal look to his lover as he straightened himself. There were still a few shakes from Harry as he came down off his laughing high.“Are you quite finished?” Severus asked. That did it. Harry broke out into another peal of laughter. Shaking his head, Severus drew his wand out and tapped it against the back of Harry’s head. Harry grew sober real quick, especially after the young woman broke out into laughter. Snapping his wrist at his side, Harry conjured a small mirror and held it up in front of him. He pouted at what he saw.Severus had spelled bright pink highlights weaved into his dark brown hair. And, if he wasn’t mistaken, there were small silver specks into the strands, too. Harry shrugged while pocketing the mirror. He supposed he was asking for it by laughing at the older wizard. He was fortunate the man hadn’t done far worse.“If you are both done with your laughter…Harry, this meddlesome squib is Casey Malloy. Malloy, this is Harry,” Severus introduced.Casey threw her hand up and shook hands with him when he walked over.“Pleasure to meet ya, Harry,” Casey said.“Likewise,” Harry replied.Casey put the last book away and turned back around to face the wizards.“So another wizard, eh old man?” Casey teased.Severus shot her another lethal look, but to Harry’s astonishment, it melted into a smirk.“Yes, brat. Harry is staying with us,” Severus told her.Casey raised an eyebrow while tilting her head to the side.“Staying as in staying or staying as in staying?” Casey asked.Harry’s head took a spin over the female’s wording. What the Hell was she talking about? Evidently, Severus knew what she was talking about as he told her, “Yes.” Casey clapped her hands together excitedly and spun around.“How exciting! You’ll have to come by for dinner some time,” Casey told them.“It will not be any time soon. Draco is working later hours and it is a busy time for me to restock potions,” Severus explained.Somehow, Harry found the strength and words to tell Casey he would like to join her for dinner. Both of them looked surprised at him, but it was Casey that broke off first.“That’s fabulous! We’ll work out the details later. Now,” Casey said, turning back to Severus. “I assumed you came here for a reason.”“I did. We are looking for an animal to accompany Harry,” Severus told her.Casey grinned. “Brilliant! Seizures? Diabetic?”“Magical overload.”Casey winced. She flashed Harry a sympathetic look.“That’s harsh. Well, come on to the back, then. There’s where they all are.”Harry frowned as Casey led Severus and him into the back. He understood when he stepped in back. There was a large group of puppies, ranging in sizes, colors, and breeds. They were in a big area room in the back, shielded by a baby gate. An open door led to the gated backyard where a couple of older dogs were. With Casey’s prompting, Harry stepped over the baby gate.Harry made himself comfortable in the doorway between the inside and out. The puppies all clambered around him for attention. Casey and Severus watched with equally big smiles on their faces. After a while, a few of the smaller puppies laid in Harry’s lap, curling up for their nap. Some of the bigger puppies curled up on either side of Harry. Harry leaned his head back, closed his eyes, and relaxed.Casey tilted her head to the side while turning her gaze to Severus.“A triad, huh?” Casey murmured.“Mm hmm,” Severus hummed, his gaze steady on the puppy-covered wizard.“I always wondered if maybe you two were missing something. He must be something special,”/……/
Harry had enjoyed playing with all the puppies, but none seemed to be a good fit with him. Or old enough. Casey and Harry made plans for Harry to come over to her home later for dinner. She mentioned wanting to show him something there. After having lunch at a little café that served the best smoothies, Severus and Harry returned home. Without being prompted by his lover, Harry headed straight for the couch and fell asleep before his head even hit the pillow.
Severus laid a blanket down over him and let him rest. It had taken a lot out of Harry in between the pieces of the day that he used magic. When he woke up later, he wandered upstairs to shower. Draco wasn’t home yet when Severus gave him the apparation points to Casey’s home. Not long after arriving, Harry determined that he had been right to accept Casey’s dinner invitation. The blonde was a great cook and a wonderful conversationalist. He found himself smiling and laughing with ease while conversing with Casey. Spending time with her got his mind off of the court case, the decision of being a Godfather for Neville and Luna, and life in general. After dinner, Casey showed him where all the puppies were sleeping. It was a nice air-conditioned room with plenty of space for them. Casey surprised him by calling over a dog he hadn’t seen before. This particular canine stood tall with his head level with Harry’s stomach. It looked like a police dog, but was he was pure white instead of beige/brown and black. His ears were perked up and alert, but he only sniffed at the back of Harry’s outstretched hand. The dog’s tail immediately started wagging and the dog seemed to take an instant liking to Harry. He knelt down on one knee to scratch behind the canine’s ear.“I was hoping you two would hit it off,” Casey smiled.Harry looked up at her from his knelt position.“What do you mean?” Harry asked.“This is Kasper. He’s a rescue dog. He’s a really special case, actually. Some moronic witch decided she would inject his mother with some magical blood when she was pregnant with puppies.”Harry learned that Kasper was one of three puppies that were born out of the litter of twelve. The other survivors only lived for a few months before dying from complications of the mixing of blood. Kasper was only three, but Casey believed he could live a lot longer than your average dog.“It wouldn’t take much to train him to help you to detect when your body and magic is running on empty. I would just need to work with my business partner for a few days. All you would need to do is leave something of yours behind,” Casey explained.Harry asked if the scarf he wore would work. Casey nodded. They stood up and left Kasper with the other dogs. They trudged back downstairs to where Harry had hung up his scarf and jacket. Casey encouraged him to stay a little longer and wear the scarf. In the meantime, they went back into the kitchen to get some dessert. Harry sat down at the island while Casey bustled around the kitchen gathering the fixings for ice cream.“Why do you call him Kasper?” Harry asked.Casey giggled.“Are you familiar with the muggle ghost known as Casper?” Casey asked.“The Friendly Ghost? Yes, a little bit. So you named it that since he’s white like a ghost?” Harry guessed.Casey grinned big as she placed a bowl of nuts and the chocolate syrup down on the island.“Not even close. Kasper.”Harry tilted his head to the side with a frown when Casey whispered the canine’s name. He nearly fell off the stool when the aforementioned canine suddenly appeared beside him with a small pop. Casey laughed at his reaction as Kasper stood up on his hind legs with his front paws resting on the island countertop. He scooted to the side a little so he could bump his head against Harry’s arm.Harry couldn’t stop from laughing as he reached up to pet the dog. Casey was right. Something just clicked between him and Kasper and he knew his new lovers would agree. After a little longer of petting the canine, Harry watched as Casey sent him back to the canine room. They sat down with big bowls of ice cream and enjoyed the rest of their evening. Before he departed, Harry handed his scarf over to Casey. Harry was pleased to find that Casey’s fireplace was hooked up to the floo so he was able to floo right out. Unfortunately, in a reminder of his first time flooing, Harry came sliding out of the fireplace covered in soot. He coughed and sputtered as two pair of hands grabbed an arm each. They hauled him up to his feet as he hacked up a lung.“Honestly, Potter. Every inch of you is covered in soot,” Draco said from his left.“It wasn’t exactly my *cough* idea,” Harry replied.Suddenly, a familiar tingling itched at the end of his nose. He tried to hold it, but it started building up until he couldn’t hold back. Seeing the Gryffindor’s nose twitching, Draco and Severus seemed to realize what was happening.“Potter, no!”“Harry, don’t–”“A-A-A-ACHOO!”The dirt flew everywhere, covering the former Slytherins, the coffee table, and parts of the couch. Harry appeared apologetic, but the evil looks from both older wizards made him burst out laughing./……/
After scrubbing the dirt away and donning boxers, Harry laid down in bed nestled up against Draco’s side with his head resting on his chest. Severus was finishing up in the bathroom while Harry spoke softly to Draco. Draco combed his hair and smoothed the tangles through with his fingers. The pink and sparkles highlights were still there, but Draco assured him Severus’ spell would wear off over night.
“He sounds like a great puppy for you, love. I can’t wait to meet him,” Draco whispered back.“You haven’t met him before?” Harry asked softly, gently scratching at the skin above Draco’s navel. The scratching produced a small shiver in him, but it still felt nice to Draco.“No. We haven’t had dinner at Casey’s in a while and I don’t think she’s had Kasper long,” Draco answered.“She looks lot like you,” Harry smiled against his chest.Draco chuckled, gently jostling Harry’s head.“Yes, it’s true. I like to think of her as my long-lost twin. We’ll have to invite her to come by the Manor sometime.” Smirk. “I’d like to see Father’s reaction.”Harry smiled. He couldn’t even imagine how the Malfoy patriarch might react to the blonde squib’s appearance. He turned his head away from Draco’s body and opened his mouth wide with a big yawn. Draco pulled his head back and smoothed a hand down the side of his face and around the back of his neck.Harry felt the bed dip down behind him and a familiar body curl up to his back. A warm kiss was pressed to his shoulder. With his eyes closed, Harry turned his head to accept a small kiss on the mouth. He felt Severus settle down behind him with a warm, strong arm wrapped around his waist to touch both Harry and Draco.“It’s been a long day. Rest, Harry.”Just before he fell asleep, Harry surprised his lovers when he mumbled, “I like little lion better.”End of Chapter ThirteenSaturday Adventures
