Dumbledore couldn’t be more pleased with himself. Although the year had not gone how he had wanted, the results were still the same. Harry was feeling isolated and would come to him when the time was right. He smiled as he pet Fawkes.
“Any day now he will write me asking to leave his relatives early and I will send him to Grimauld.”
He was lost in his thought when he felt a painful tug on his magic before something snapped.
‘What was that?’ he thought as he looked around his office. He stood from his chair and reached for his wand only to find it was gone. He couldn’t believe it. The only way his wand would leave him is if he lost it in a duel to a stronger wizard. He paced his office thinking. As he did so he fell a new magical signature being added to the school wards.
‘What in Merlin’s name is going on?’ He did a quick diagnostic spell on the school to find that all the wards had shifted. He was no longer the primary hold of the school! He sat back down at his desk. Quickly he wrote two letters.
I will get that wand back no matter what.
He cast a locator charm on the letter to have it go wherever his wand was. The second letter was to the board of school governors.
Something has just happened to the school. Someone has replaced me as the primary holder of the school and put their magical signature into the wards. I do not know who it is and this needs to be rectified immediately.
Albus Dumbledore
He sent the letter off with Fawkes and waited patiently for a response. He knew it would take them a while to respond so in the meantime he would work on his plans to win the coming war.
He knew that Harry would be the key to winning, even though it would cost him his life. Dumbledore also knew that Harry was the light sides financial backer, even if Harry didn’t know it himself. Dumbledore looked at the paperwork on his desk and smiled. All he needed to do was get Harry to sign it and the Potter properties, lands, and vaults would go to the Order. With all the empty land and houses, the Order would have multiple places to hide and fight. Dumbledore gave a contented sigh and sat back. He had time still. He had nothing to worry about.

Harry was exhausted. It may have been his first lesson, but Mrs. Malfoy was ruthless when it came to proper manners. He could hear Draco laughing under his breath as he showed Harry to Lucius’ study.
“Father, we’re done for the day.” Draco walked in and sat in a plush leather chair by Lucius’ desk. Harry followed suit and sat next to him.
“Very well. Lord Potter, you and Miss Granger have done very well so far. Her detailed noted made going through the properties lists that much easier. I know a wizard who specializes in looking over family homes that have been without an heir living in them who could look over all of our housing assets and give detailed assessments of what would be needed to repair them.”
“Thank you Mister Malfoy, I would appreciate it. Did you make it through the vaults yet?”
“I did and I’m thankful that the bank keeps such detailed records. It looks like Dumbledore has been draining you main Potter vault for years. I compared the lists that were left in all the vaults with the ones the bank gave you and it looks as though several family heirlooms were “donated” to the school. One being the sword of Gryffindor and another being most of Slytherin’s personal library.”
As he spoke, all Harry could do was see red. His mind started to seethe and he could feel the magic under his skin wanting to break free and seek retribution. He took a few deep breaths and got his magic under control.
“What do I need to do to have this fixed? I’m not too worried about the sword and the books since they are at the school, but the money that was taken from my father’s vault has me seeing red.”
“All you have to do is contact they bank. Goblin’s are very good about writing any wrongs, especially if the person wrong is unaware of vaults that they have. In one section, it is listed that Dumbledore is you Wizarding Guardian and is to have full access to all your accounts. Since most were left to you in a will, he only had access to you Potter vaults.”
Harry grit his teeth. He couldn’t believe the man he trusted was using him behind his back as a personal piggy bank. He wasn’t that surprised really. Dumbledore saw him as a pawn. Well not anymore.
“May I? I have a letter to write.”
Lucius handed him some parchment and a quill and smile as Harry wrote his letter to the bank.
“Mister Malfoy, I would like for you to be my financial advisor. You know what you’re doing and have been upfront and honest with me. Also, I would like to try and remove your mark once I find a way to do so.”
Lucius couldn’t have been happier. He knew that Harry felt the same way he did about being someone’s personal war bank and agreed.
“Wonderful. I want a full list of what is missing from all my vaults written up and sent to Master Griphook at Gringotts. I will inform him that you are helping me get my affairs in order since I will be back in school shortly. Oh, and would you have your man who does property inspections to look over the Potter Manor first? I’d like it to be my main residency once school starts.”
Lucius nodded as he made note of what his business partner asked of him. He saw Harry no longer as a child, but as an adult stepping up and demanding to be heard.
“Lord Potter, it would be an honor to work with you in these matters. I hope we can call ourselves business partners from hence forth?”
Harry smiled, “Since you will be managing all of my properties while I am at school I would hope that we could call each other partners. I would like a business contract written up for us before Draco and I head back to school. This way I can put you down as a co-owner for said businesses.”
“Agreed. I will contact my solicitor today and have him draw up the paperwork for you to read after your next lesson.”
The two stood and shook hands.
“I am so glad I decided to write to you when I did.” Harry said as he sat back down.
He saw Draco grinning from the corner of his eye. The rest of the afternoon was spent going over Harry vaults and discussing how to get missing items back if they had been sold or stolen from his vaults. Harry left after dinner a very happy guy. He couldn’t wait to see how much his life was going to change now that he was taking control. His grin grew even wider when he thought about how Dumbledore was going to react. He no longer worried about it, but was overcome with a wild type of joy when he thought about Dumbledore finding out he was no longer in charge of Harry or had access to Harry’s money. Harry drifted off to sleep that night praying that the interview with Miss Anderson would show soon for his approval.
