The three lovers were just that; in love. And nothing short of a dastardly plan (hint, hint) could separate them. Too bad for them such a plan was in the making. Lucius had decided since he had never legally filed disinheritance papers that he had every right to take Draco out of Hogwarts. Which is what he fully planned to do, once he could get everything legally in order. Meanwhile, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was, at that very moment, holding a meeting with young Malfoy and his lovers.
“Draco, I have some paperwork here that I need you to sign. It’s nothing of great importance, but I feel it would be a good idea to get this taken care of just in case,” Dumbledore said softly.
Draco blinked and looked at him like he was insane, Harry looked thoughtful and Severus’ brow was raised and he had a suspicious look on his face; nothing the Headmaster ever did was out of the blue. He always had a reason.
The blonde eyed him wearily then looked to the roll of parchment on the desk, “Nothing of great importance? Then why aren’t you telling me what it is?”
Severus smirked and mentally patted his young lover on the back, nothing pleased him more than one-upping the Headmaster, “Yes, Albus, tell us what’s in this so called paperwork.”
Harry was still slightly confused, no surprise there, but Albus wasn’t giving in, “Oh, for Merlin’s sake, just sign the damned papers and get this over with so I can rest easy…” He almost slapped a hand over his mouth after the words spilled out but retained his composure as if his outburst never happened.
Of course, now the Gryffindor was just as suspicious, if not more, than Severus and he was eyeing the Headmaster, “Go ahead, Draco. Sign them so we can get out of here…”
Severus was about to speak but Harry shot him a look. Draco looked back and forth between them then rolled his eyes, sighed, and leaned over to sign the bottom of the scroll, “There, can we go now, Headmaster? We were in the middle of making plans for the weekend then for Christmas.”
“Christmas?” Albus said, “But it’s still a bit away. What were your plans?”
“Oh no, old man. We’re not telling you! You can suffer in the ninth ring of hell wondering what we’ve planned for our Christmas break because none of us are going to divulge it without Veritaserum,” Severus told the older wizard with conviction.
Harry snickered and Draco opened his mouth to say something then snapped it shut. The green eyed Gryffindor tugged on Draco’s arm then walked to the door, Severus following.
“Have a good planning session, my boys!” Albus said cheerily. After they left he muttered under his breath, “And I will find out what it is they plan on doing.” He snorted, “Suffer in the ninth ring of hell indeed.”
So Lucius was off in his manor in Wiltshire, planning his little, shriveled black heart out, and the lovebirds were planning a winter getaway while Albus schemed to find out what said getaway was. All of them were oblivious to what the others were doing.
It wasn’t until about a week before Christmas, the students were leaving in two days for break from Hogwarts that Lucius, Lord of Malfoy Manor, Death Eater Extreme, Supreme Arsehole, showed up at Hogwarts to have a ‘friendly’ meeting with the Headmaster. He, of course, had ulterior motives. As usual.
“Ah, Lucius, and what can I do for you, dear boy?” The Headmaster said kindly, though his mind was screaming for him to throw the man out on his aristocratic arse and have him banned from the castle.
Malfoy snorted inelegantly, “Cut the crap, old man. Where’s my son? Call him forth to me, I would like to speak to him then pull him out of this wretched school where he seems to learn nothing but cowardice.”
Cowardice indeed, Albus though to himself. But he couldn’t do anything just yet, “Of course, Lucius. Give me but a moment and young Draco will be here.”
The blonde nodded curtly, smirking inwardly at his plan which had already been put into action. What he didn’t know was that Dumbledore had made a preempted strike and foiled his dastardly plan in one foul swoop.
The Headmaster grabbed a pinch of floo powder and threw it into the fireplace, calling out the address of Harry and Draco’s chambers. Lucius sneered at the fact that his heir was living with the God forsaken Boy-Who-Lived.
“Draco, could you please come up to my office?” He asked kindly then closed the connection.
On the other end of the floo, Harry and Draco knew something was up and looked at each other worriedly before sighing and leaving the room, after notifying Severus of course, then made their way to the Headmaster’s office. When they arrived, the sight that greeted them made their breath catch in their throat. There, sitting before them, was Lucius Malfoy in all his glory, sipping a cup of tea and chatting almost amicably with the esteemed Headmaster. Draco paled and Harry tensed, putting a protective arm around him lover.
“What did you want to see us about, Headmaster?” Harry asked tightly.
Lucius sneered, “I don’t believe you were called here, Potter. I’ve come for my son. He is to leave with me this instant and I can promise you he won’t be returning to his sham of a school.”
Harry practically growled and Draco clung to him tighter, “You won’t be taking him, Malfoy! I won’t have it! Draco is fine here. And you disinherited him, anyhow! You can’t take him!” Harry said triumphantly.
The older blonde smirked, and it was a scary sight indeed, “Actually, I didn’t file the paperwork. I figured I would need to rescue him, as it were, from this type of situation. So, you see, I can andwill take him because, as his parent and legal guardian, I have every right to remove him should I see fit to do so.” He paused and his face got even more frightening, “And I see fit.”
The young Gryffindor snorted, “As if you care for him. I saw that letter you sent him, Malfoy! Don’t you even care that you caused him to attempt to kill himself?! When I found him he was nearly dead. And all because of you and your poor parenting skills! You’ll take him over my dead body, you piece of shit!”
“That can be arranged…” Lucius ground out.
Throughout the whole ordeal Albus was just sitting there watching the proceedings with a raised brow as Harry and Lucius fought and Draco clung to Harry as if his life depended on it. Of course, it most likely did. The Headmaster knew Draco wouldn’t survive one day without the green eyed youth.
“Fortunately, that won’t be happening; today or ever. I’m afraid you have no right to take Draco, Lucius, for he has emancipated himself from you and you are, therefore, no longer his guardian and have no legal right to him whatsoever,” Albus said quite smugly.
Lucius sputtered, Harry smirked and Draco stood there looking dumbfounded, “I have? When did I….”
“See?! The little shit doesn’t even know what you’re talking about, you old fool!” Lucius shouted.
But, then again, Albus always had something up his sleeve. He pulled the scroll out of his desk, ignoring the fact that Lucius had just called his ‘beloved’ son a little shit, and unfurled it, showing it in its original form to all in the room. Harry had now figured out what Draco had signed back when they’d had their meeting and Draco was just about catching up when Lucius grabbed the parchment from the Headmaster’s hands and read it. He waved it angrily in Albus’ face, his own face getting redder by the moment.
“This is preposterous! I demand to know what right you have to do this! I’m a Malfoy for fuck’s sake! You can’t take my son from me, you have no fucking right! The Ministry and the Board of Governor’s will hear about this, mark my words!” He spit out, just as Severus entered the office.
The raven haired Slytherin smirked at Lucius’ outburst, “I promise you, Lucius, that if the Headmaster is the one who did this, it’s all legal and binding by now. So you better save your breath before you have an aneurism,” he pretended to ponder for a moment then continued, “On second thought, please, continue. Perhaps if you do, you’ll rid the world and us of your filthy existence.”
Now Draco was smirking, along with Harry and, quelle surprise, Dumbledore was smirking as well. Severus snorted as Malfoy sputtered more then threw the parchment down on the desk.
“This isn’t over, by far. I’ll get him back, you doddering old fool!” He spat as he stalked out of the office and out of the castle to the gates where he apparated back to the Manor to drink himself into a stupor and come up with another plan.
“Well, as interesting as that was, I would like to go now,” Draco said with a hint of laughter in his voice.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Harry said softly as he nuzzled Draco’s neck and kissed him gently then whispered, ‘I love you,’ into his ear.
Draco smiled and kissed Harry back, leaving Severus to wonder just what would eventually happen. As much as he loved them he didn’t think it would be fair to bind them to him when he knew he would die way before their time, and that would inevitably shorten their lives. Once you have a life bond with someone, your death affects them and causes them to also die. The Potions Master knew his days were limited, what with all the Death Eaters still around and Lucius in particular. He had to do something to stop the insanity of it all.
With that thought in his mind, the three left the office and went their separate ways; Severus to his office to finish grading papers and pack up his work to bring with him on vacation and Draco and Harry to their rooms to finish packing, among other things. It was quite odd how they felt comfortable without their older lover. They felt just as comfortable with him, but they were ok with just the two of them. It should have been a sure sign that something wasn’t right, that perhaps something was amiss, but neither thought on it much, if at all, and they were more than content to just think everything was ok. What they didn’t know was that’s a sure sign that he wasn’t truly meant to be with them, at least not for long. The two were soul mates, and he was along for the ride. Until something happened to fix that. Severus Snape wasn’t meant to bond with Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter, but he was meant to be their lover, if only for a little while. Only time would tell what would happen to their little love triangle and how long it would truly last. Not to mention the outside influences that were trying to break it up sooner rather than later.
