“Hey Hermione,” Harry chirped as he bound out of the Burrow.
It was only ten in the morning and already, she wanted to claw her eyes out. Ron and Ginny were furious with her, Molly and Arthur bewildered, and the twins had to leave to keep out of Molly’s wand reach. Thank the gods that no one else had shown up or she’d be in hot water with her antics.
She’d just managed to hide her gift from Draco when Ginny woke up and fell out of bed. She’d apparently had a nightmare but it struck Hermione hilarious in that moment and she laughed…and laughed…and laughed. She was still laughing when she went downstairs and pretended to eat.
That hadn’t gone well either. She’d only managed to get a hold of herself when Ron knocked a carafe of milk into his lap. The bewildered look on his face set her off again, along with a crude joke about him needing to drink from the cow in order to keep from spilling it on him. Then she’d really done it…and she blamed it all on Melody.
“Then again Ron, you probably wouldn’t know what to do with a tit if it you did get your hands on one.”
The twins had turned purple laughing so hard. It had spurred them on a spree of even more distasteful jokes that she found utterly hysterical. Then again, everything seemed pretty damn entertaining right then. She knew it was the venom and that if she just went upstairs, she could fuck that out of herself. Unfortunately, it would only last a few moments before the euphoria would return. She couldn’t very well lock herself in Ginny’s room twiddling herself the rest of the day, as good as that sounded.
The twins had been chased out of the Burrow at wand point after a cruel joke on Ron’s grooming habits and Hermione decided to high tail it out of there with them. They had congratulated her on a fine morning and promptly handed her their latest flavor of synthetic blood, peach cobbler. It was delicious but it made her think of Nancy, which depressed her to no end. Seeing her darkening mood, the twins handed her the rest of their supply and dashed.
Since then, she had promptly parked her arse under the tree in the front yard and stayed. She could still feel the anger coming from Ginny and Ron. Luckily, she thought to bring a bottle of sunscreen with her or she’d be a lobster by now. Harry bounding over only made her wary. What would he want?
“Harry,” she greeted her best friend glumly.
“So, er-“ Harry hemmed as he sat beside her. “I heard that you were acting a bit…odd this morning.”
She snorted. “Odd. Is that what they’re calling it?”
“Well,” Harry hedged. “They used different words.”
“It wouldn’t happen to be rude bitch, would it?”
“Oh, yeah,” Harry said softly. “The ears.”
Hermione chuckled. “And everything else. Mustn’t forget that.”
“How- um- how are you?”
“Oh, I’m just great,” she said sarcastically. “I mean, if I’m not laughing so hard my stomach hurts, I’m so aroused that I can’t sit still. And if it isn’t one of those, I feel as if I need to get up and run a million laps at top speed or hit something.”
“I assume that’s from the venom,” he said, his cheeks slightly pink.
She nodded. “I don’t know when it will wear off Harry. It’s horrible.”
“Why didn’t you stay then?”
“Severus obliviated everyone,” she said glumly. “No one remembers where I went, remember?”
“Oh yeah,” Harry said as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Why did they do that?”
“That woman Sirius was talking about, the pathetic girl who clung to Snape after Sirius dumped her, you remember?”
Harry nodded. “Yes, you were quite agitated.”
Hermione sighed and brought her knees up, resting her arms on them and brought her forehead to her arms. “That was my mother. No one knows what happened to her after graduation…save Severus. And no one can find out about her.”
Harry’s eyes looked like they might fall out of his head. “He talked about her all night, Mione. He said that he-um-he, well…he-“
“Save it,” Hermione snapped. “He shagged her and ran and she clung to Severus. Sound about right?”
“Well, yeah, but he said that she lied and tried to pin him for knocking her up.”
Hermione’s looked up, suddenly angry that Sirius would reveal such a thing. After all, in everyone’s presence, he brushed it off as an attempt at trying to get him to settle down. Tears welled up in her eyes and she looked straight up to keep them from falling.
“It-it wasn’t a lie, was it?” Harry said softly.
Hermione managed to shake her head. “No. No it wasn’t. Can-can we please not talk about it?”
“I-um-yeah. Of course. But um, what, um, what happened to the-the-“
“Dead,” Hermione said flatly. “She really did try to join Myrtle in the loo. She lost the baby…but was saved before the poison could claim her as well.”
“Wow,” Harry breathed.
Hermione snorted. “Can we move on now?”
“Sure. Um…how was…um…Derik?”
Hermione cackled, a true witches cackle at his change in topic. It was like hopping out of the frying pan and into the fire. “Oh Harry, do you honestly want to know?”
Harry blushed furiously. “Well, not the details but…did he treat you well?”
She giggled again. “Vampire claimings are violent Harry. I’m pretty sure he broke most of the bones in my body.”
“What?” Harry yelled and started to get up.
“Easy Harry,” she said soothingly and pulled him to sit beside her again. “It isn’t like I didn’t return the favor. I didn’t even feel it. The venom…it makes you impervious to pain for a while. He really did try to hold back, but it’s damn near impossible. We heal fast though, so don’t worry about it.”
“I don’t get it,” Harry said after a long and awkward silence. “Sirius said he…well, he shagged some vampires. He didn’t get broken.”
“They didn’t claim him as a mate though,” Hermione said softly. “A claiming is done with venom and any venom is a one way ticket to vampirism. Therefore, no mortal has been subjected to that kind of…pairing.”
“And lived,” Harry added.
“Yes, I suppose so,” Hermione mused.
After all, there wasn’t anything that said they couldn’t claim their human and use that bite for the turning. Then again, that would be a very small window to consummate the binding and their mate would be in agony the entire time. It would probably appeal to someone like Zander, but not to her.
Hermione felt a pulse in her nether regions and shifted. Her knickers were soaked again. She growled in aggravation at herself…and Draco. She’d been wondering what his special toy would do ever since she’d received it but hadn’t had a chance to use it. Ginny had holed up in her room, refusing to even look at her. She had to get in there and bring herself off, at least so she could function normally for a little while. Suddenly, she got an idea.
“Hey Harry, I need some time to myself and Ginny is in her room, still mad at me no doubt. Could you, I don’t know, challenge her to a game of quidditch?”
Harry quirked an eyebrow but quickly looked away when he saw her scoot around uncomfortably. “Um, yeah. I’ll just…go.”
Hermione smirked and watched her friend scamper off to coax Ginny out of the room. It would serve two purposes really. First, she would be alone, and second, she knew Ginny and Harry were hot for each other. Although Ginny was dating Dean Thomas, she always had her eye out for the Chosen One. She just hoped Harry realized it before it was too late. Moments later, Harry and the two youngest Weasleys left the Burrow and headed toward the broom shed. Only Harry spared her a look, a cheeky grin at that. Sirius came out a few minutes later. Now was her chance. She palmed the powder and called out.
“Good morning, Sirius!”
“Hey Hermione!” Sirius chirped. “How are you?”
“I’m good, I guess. Just a bit of allergies today.” She made a show of sneezing rather loudly and forcefully in her hand, allowing the powder to drift over and settle before she dared take another breath.
“Oh goodness, Sirius. I am so, so sorry. Please excuse me.”
Sirius took out a handkerchief and wiped down his face. “It’s alright, Hermione. Are you okay?”
“You know, I think I’m just going to have a lie down. I really haven’t been feeling well lately. Um-have fun with everyone. And I really am sorry.”
“It’s nothing,” Sirius said with a casual flick of his hand. “You get to feeling better.”
“Yes, of course. Good bye!”
“Bye Hermione,” Sirius said.
She made a show of sneezing a few more times and announced to Molly that she was going to take a potion and lie down. Molly, seeing that she was sick, immediately dismissed her earlier behavior and went into overprotective mother mode.
“Do you need anything dear?”
“Oh no! Honestly, I’ll be just fine. I just need a bit of rest. That’s all. Just a bit of rest I-I haven’t been sleeping well.”
Molly didn’t look convinced but nodded all the same. “Alright dear. I’ll make sure no one bothers you.”
Hermione gave her a pitiful smile. “Thank you Mrs. Weasley.”
“It’s quite alright dear. Feel better soon.”
“I’ll try,” Hermione said breathily.
She was hanging on to her last visage of control as she walked up the stairs at a normal pace. Once she was inside Ginny’s room, she quickly locked and silenced the room, adding a warning ward just in case Molly decided to check on her. It wouldn’t do for the Weasley matron to find her daughter’s door magically locked. When she was sure the room was secure, she drew the blinds and started breaking her own wards.
The black case almost burned in her hands in her haste to open it. She hadn’t experimented with many toys before, but she knew what to do with them. Her eyes took in the elaborate dildo lying innocently in the case. She knew every ridge and vein on it, having gotten quite an up close and personal inspection of its model the night before. The image of her mate’s cock was burned into her brain for eternity. This dildo, however, was Slytherin green with silver streaks in it. What other color would it be? She laughed at that thought and took the tool into her hands.
It was warm to the touch, but nowhere near the temperature of the hot steely rod she’d handed the night before. Perhaps she could warm it up. She inspected it thoroughly and found that there was a hole in the bottom where the balls were. She looked back into the case and picked up the vibrator. It was a perfect fit. So, he’d decided to add a bullet to the apparatus. That should be fun. The lube was a no brainer. Now for the incantation.
She drew her wand and tapped the dildo. “Locomotor Draconis!”
Hello Granger. I thought you’d never try this out.
Hermione shrieked and dropped the green tool. She knew she’d just heard Draco’s voice. How in the hell did that happen?
Pick it up Granger. That’s no way to treat your mate’s cock.
“What?” Hermione whispered and gingerly picked the rubber cock up again.
That’s better. I like your hands on me, so delicate.
“M-Malfoy?”
That’s the one, Granger.
“H-How?”
It’s charmed to connect us. We can hear each other as long as the spell is activated. I can feel every touch with this and you, my dear sweet witch, will feel everything my cock wants to do to you.
Oh dear sweet Merlin. How in the hell had he managed to do that? At the present moment though, she didn’t quite care. The thought of having her mate again caused a gush of fluid to flow from her pussy, making her knickers soggy. She tossed them off in aggravation and lay back on her back. Hmmm, what to do next? He said that he could feel every touch. Well…she needed to lube it up anyway. Despite her copious lubrication, this rubber toy was hardly Draco.
She squeezed a fair amount of the lube on the toy, noticing that it smelled sort of like his cologne. It was too bad it didn’t smell like his blood though. Had she even told him what he smelled like? No matter. She’d tell him later. Right now, she focused on the dildo. She ran her hand down the toy, rubbing the lube all over.
Fuck Granger, what your hands can do to a man.
Hermione smirked and rubbed a bit harder, making sure not to miss an inch of the toy. She already had a hundred ideas as to what she was going to do with this bad boy but for right now she was going to have fun. She heard Draco’s sexy moans and muttered swears as she prepared the dildo. Then she scourgified her hand and slid the toy into her ready entrance, savoring Draco’s groan of approval.
The first thing she noticed was that the toy had heated up. Whether it was the charm or the friction from applying the lube, she didn’t know. All she knew was that it felt amazing. She pushed it all the way in, loving the full feeling she got. She slowly slid it out, feeling every vein along the way. She wasn’t going to last long. She groaned as she pushed it back in a bit harder.
Let go of the dildo Granger.
“Why?” Hermione asked bewildered.
Trust me. Just let go.
Hermione let go a bit cautiously. What good would it do if it just stayed there? She got her answer when the dildo promptly slid out of her and thrust back in without warning. She cried out in shock and then pleasure as it repeated this motion. Over and over, it thrust into her with abandon, reminding her of her time spent with her mate.
Like that Granger? Feel my cock inside you. I want you to pinch your nipples. Pinch them and think of my hands on those luscious tits of yours.
Hermione did as she was told, unbuttoning her blouse and yanking her bra down so she could feel her nipples, abusing the buds as she was directed. She pictured those long nimble fingers of her mate’s in place of her hands. She was practically writhing on the bed, lost to the pleasure and ever so glad for the silencing charm she’d put up. Moans were ripped from her as the green cock tilted and hit the perfect spot inside her to make her clench. She was right on the edge and desperate to go over.
Take the vibrator Granger. Turn it on. It’s been charmed to work with magic. I want you to place it on your clit.
Hermione blearily opened her eyes and groped for the little silver bullet. She fumbled with it to turn it on and then placed it on her clit. The vibrations shot through her, throwing her over her peak and leaving her bucking on the bed, trying to both get away and closer to the device.
You aren’t done yet Granger. Keep it there.
She noticed his voice sounded hoarse in that moment but couldn’t be arsed to find out why as the dildo pounded into her mercilessly. It changed angles again and she cried out in shock. How was he doing that? A few more thrusts and she found she didn’t care just as long as he didn’t stop. She was quickly topping her second orgasm when she heard his strangled cry. The dildo seemed to swell within her and then shudder, still thrusting strongly until she came down. It slowed to a stop and then stilled, still inside her.
“Wow,” she breathed.
That was fucking amazing, love.
Hermione raised an eyebrow at the term of endearment but realized it was silly since he couldn’t see her. That was the second time he’d called her that…and she liked it.
“How did you do that?” she decided to ask instead.
Melody is quite gifted in charms.
“I’ll have to thank her tonight,” she said breathlessly.
So will I. You okay?
“Oh yeah. But…I think you’ve ruined me for any other toy."
She heard him chuckle darkly.
Don’t worry Granger. We’ll still have lot of fun exploring. Get some meditation in before you’re bothered again.
“How do I stop this thing?” She asked, pulling the now still dildo from her overly sensitive channel with a groan.
Gods Granger, you’re going to kill me! Use a finite. You can also scourgify it if you don’t fancy a trip to the loo.
“Not in this house,” Hermione muttered and ended the spell before cleaning the handy little toy. “Bye Malfoy.”
She waited for an answer and then smacked herself for her stupidity. Of course he couldn’t hear her. She’d ended the spell. What a brilliant little charm it was too. She put all of her new toys away and redressed, flopping back on the bed and closing her eyes as comforting bliss consumed her. She would most definitely be doing that again.

Hermione’s eyes snapped open as the alarm ward rang. She quickly took it and the other wards down, not wanting to get caught. What time was it anyway? She cast a tempus and nearly swallowed her tongue in shock when it read six at night. How on earth had she been meditating the entire day? Well…that wasn’t all she had done, but a good majority of it.
“Hermione?” Harry called from the stairs.
She smiled at his thoughtfulness and made sure she was decent. “Come in Harry.”
“Hey Mione. You looked like you were asleep in the window. I...um…I thought you didn’t sleep.”
Hermione shrugged. “I don’t. But I meditate. Wait, the window?” She turned to make sure the blinds were still drawn.
Harry blushed beet red. “Uh, well… you see…um…Ron didn’t believe you were asleep and so Sirius cast a reveal charm before I realized it. You looked asleep though. We didn’t see anything else. Honest!”
“Oooh,” Hermione seethed and made for the door. “Just wait until I get my hands on him! I’ll kill him!”
“NO!” Harry shouted and ran in front of the door before she could run out of it. “No Hermione. You could hurt him.”
She stopped dead in her tracks. Oh gods, what was she thinking? This wasn’t her. The only person she’d ever physically attacked was…Draco. It was then she knew that there was another facet of her condition that she wasn’t aware of. Her anger was never an issue, an easily squelched thing that she could scream out later into her pillow. What had she become? Two pink tears cascaded down her cheeks at the thought of her becoming violent…and against her friends.
“Hermione?” Harry asked softly. “Are you okay?”
She shook her head ferociously. “No. What’s wrong with me Harry? I’ve never wanted to-to physically- Oh gods. I am a monster. I-I have to get out of here.”
“Hermione!” Harry called after her as she rushed down the stairs, careful not to use her vampire speed. “Hermione wait!”
She flew past Sirius at the bottom of the stairs and tried to get outside. She hit something hard that made her stumble back and smack her arse on the floor. In her panic, she almost flashed her fangs until she realized that it was Remus that she’d hit. His face was set in a frown as he reached down to help her up.
“I-excuse me,” she said softly and tried to get past him.
“No, not this time,” Remus said softly and waited for Harry to reach them before they all three made their way outside.
Remus and Harry both ordered her to sit down on the bench and not move. She’d never considered Remus a dominant, his demeanor too soft to be one, but his orders hurt if she didn’t obey. Harry’s order on top of it made her decide it wasn’t worth it. Instead, she drew her legs up and buried her head in between them while Harry recounted the last few moments. Each sentence made her feel even worse.
“Hermione,” Remus called softly. “Look at me.”
She cringed and peeked up from behind her knees. He didn’t look angry; instead there was a sympathetic look there. If she dared to breathe in his scent, she could smell the understanding from him. Why wasn’t he furious with her?
“Being a creature,” Remus started quietly, “means that you must deal with new instincts. Anger is common among the cursed like us. Do you think I don’t have problems with it?”
Hermione cocked her head. “But you’re so calm.”
Remus raised one eyebrow. “You did see me turn, didn’t you?”
Hermione’s mouth turned up in a tiny smile. “I did…but you were in pain. I was just…mad.”
“And you had every reason to be,” Remus said softly. “I’ll have a talk with Sirius about respecting your privacy. We were lucky all they saw you doing was meditating.”
Hermione snorted. “I’ll say.”
Remus smiled. “The point is, you are not a monster unless you let it control you. Fenrir Greyback, the werewolf that turned me, has embraced the curse. He purposefully stations himself near houses with small children to infect them. He is so thoroughly immersed, he stays in a constant half transformed state. He is a true monster. You just got a little aggravated…but Hermione, you stopped. And that is what sets us apart from other monsters, the will to control it. Understand?”
Hermione nodded jerkily. She did understand but she still couldn’t see how Remus could lose his temper. He was the epitome of calm and gentle, except during his turning. Still, he’d made her understand that while she was the stuff of nightmares, she controlled her instincts, not the other way around. She felt Remus lean in very close to her ear and mutter under his breath.
“You should study how your father remains in control.”
Hermione froze, her breath coming in short frightened pants. Did he know?
“He wasn’t wearing a scent charm last night,” Remus explained so quietly that Harry couldn’t have heard.
“I-“ Hermione shook her head in fear.
“I won’t say anything,” Remus said quietly. “Despite our pasts and our differing natures, I understand the need for discretion. He’s the best chance we have against Voldemort.”
“Don’t say his name!” Hermione hissed. “It’s cursed!”
Remus nodded in understanding. “Still…I’ll keep his secret.”
“I-I’ll need an oath,” Hermione said softly as she fingered her wand.
Remus nodded and patted her hand. “I think we’re alright now, Harry. Why don’t you go inside and get a bite to eat.”
“Are-are you sure?” Harry asked in concern. He knew they were speaking so softly he couldn’t hear but he was still worried.
Hermione managed a weak smile. “I’m okay Harry, really. I’ll see you in a bit, alright? Just…make some excuse and pretend to smuggle me some toast.”
Harry shook his head with a grin. “Sure thing Mione.”
When he was in the house, she and Remus made their way down to the river where they would be out of eye sight from the Burrow. Remus took a deep breath and nodded to take her hand. She placed it in his, noting that he was quite a bit warmer than the others. She supposed that was a werewolf thing.
“Now then,” Remus said softly. “I agree to keep the knowledge of Severus’s vampirism to myself and not to divulge it to another soul.”
“Forever Remus,” Hermione said. “It has to be forever.”
“Forever then, against my better judgment.”
Hermione nodded and completed the movements to help him seal the oath. Just as the magic dissipated, she heard her father apparate in.
“Fuck, he’s here.”
Remus spun, wand at the ready. “Who?”
“Severus.”
As if his name was a beacon, he appeared. “What in the bloody hell is going on here?”
Hermione felt his anger hit her so strongly, her knees buckled. She hit the ground with a cry, putting her face as close to her knees as possible. Merlin had she messed up. She should have just obliviated Remus, not made him take an oath, but she was terrified.
“Easy Severus,” Remus growled. “Don’t be hard on the girl.”
“This is none of your concern!” Severus hissed.
“It is!” Remus snapped. “Is this how you treat your own daughter?”
Severus paled a few shades and stepped back. “What are you on about?”
“I know what you are Severus,” Remus said softly. “You neglected to wear your scent charm when you retrieved Melody from the house yesterday. I’ve already taken an oath never to reveal your condition…mostly because I don’t fancy Hermione taking my memories away.”
Severus rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Not that she could.”
“Quite.”
“What?” Hermione squeaked.
Remus knelt down to her level. “Werewolves are resistant to many spells, memory charms being one of them. So, I took the oath, which will hold. Hermione, I have no wish to out you. I never did. I just…didn’t trust you. Now that I’ve seen who your actual father is, I understand why you have such control. But why? Why did you agree to this?”
Hermione snorted and looked up, cringing when she realized she’d broken her position. Severus sighed heavily and helped her off the ground. She nodded her thanks and turned to Remus to explain.
“I didn’t agree to…to being a vampire. I really was attacked Remus. Melody destroyed my sire and she and Severus stepped in.”
“No,” Remus said shaking his head. “I could smell it clearly. You are the daughter of both Severus and Melody. I can smell their bond, a true familiar bond.”
Hermione shook in fear. She wasn’t going to say anything further on the matter. All she wanted was to get out of there. She’d already mucked up everything. What more could she destroy?
“Child,” Severus drawled. “Go back to the Burrow. I shall pick you up later…once I’ve explained a few things to Lupin.”
She looked back and forth between her father and her friend, fearing what would happen. “P-please d-don’t hurt each other.”
Severus’s severe scowl softened in that moment as he glanced at her. “We’ll be fine. Run along.”
Hermione nodded and scampered to the Burrow, keeping her ears open for their conversation. Much to her disappointment, her father placed a muffling charm around them as soon as she was out of human earshot. He was taking no chances.
She didn’t spare a glance for anyone as she ran upstairs, parking herself on the bed and shaking in fear. She had to talk to someone but the floo was out of the question. An idea came to her but it was insane. She quickly took out the dildo, laid it on the bed, and said the incantation.
Again, love?
“Oh Draco,” Hermione moaned. “I’m sorry but no. I just…I needed to talk to you.”
What’s wrong?
Hermione noticed that concern had now leaked into his voice. “I really fucked up Draco. Remus…he-he smelled Severus last night. He knows…and I made him take an oath. I was going to obliviate him but it turns out that you can’t do that to a werewolf and-and…FUCK!”
Calm down Hermione. Severus hasn’t survived all these years because he is ignorant. In fact, yesterday was probably the first slip he’s ever made. Lysander’s attack was a surprise. Just calm down and we’ll discuss it when you get here, okay?
Hermione nodded and then realized he couldn’t hear her head shaking. “Yes, of course…you’re right. I’m sorry.”
Draco chuckled heartily. Never thought I’d hear you say that. See you soon love.
“Thanks Draco,” Hermione breathed and ended the incantation.
It wasn’t much, but she did feel better. Of course Severus could take care of himself. She was just overreacting. That was it. She jumped when footsteps hurried up the stairs. A whiff of the air confirmed it was Harry and she relaxed, but only minutely. Then she realized that she still hadn’t put away her toy. Scrambling at top speed, she’d barely put it in the case and kicked it out of sight before Harry barged in.
“Hey Mione!” He said happily…and a bit too loudly for Molly’s benefit. “I brought you some toast. I know you aren’t feeling well but you’ve got to eat.”
Hermione chuckled at his grin. He was really enjoying pulling one over on Molly. “Thanks Harry!” She called. “I’m feeling a bit better now but I think I’ll turn in early tonight.”
“Mind if I eat this?” Harry said in a softer tone.
Hermione eyed the buttered bread he’d brought her and wrinkled her nose. As good as it looked, she knew it would taste horrible. “You go ahead Harry. I couldn’t even if I wanted to.”
“It is awful to watch me eat?” Harry asked after he’d polished off his bread.
Hermione shrugged. Truth be told, she was quite envious. She wished she could just pluck some delicious looking pastry from the table and indulge. She had to eat it second hand…even if it tasted better than it would have the first time.
“I won’t eat in front of you if it’s bad,” Harry amended.
Hermione laughed. “Don’t worry about it Harry. I’m quite used to it already. Besides, it isn’t like I cared all that much for food before.”
Harry grinned and nodded. “So, when are you leaving to see your new beau?”
She sighed sadly. “As soon as Severus and Remus get done fighting.”
“What?” Harry asked in shock.
“They um…don’t exactly see eye to eye when it comes to my care. Anyway, they’ll work it out; I’m sure of it.” A loud bang echoed through the house. Hermione pointed to the door and nodded. “And there they are.”
“Come on then,” Harry snickered. “Mustn’t keep the great bat waiting.”
They walked down the stairs cautiously, trying to figure out how this meeting was going to go. Both knew that Molly and Sirius’s knowledge of Melody’s ill-fated visit had been wiped clean. Therefore, there would have to be one heck of a story as to why Severus was visiting.
“Severus, what in the world-“ Molly started.
“I apologize for my haste,” Severus drawled. “However, I must collect Miss Granger. She is dreadfully late for an appointment.”
An appointment? Hermione and Harry shared a knowing look which made Hermione blush a bit. They continued on into the kitchen and stood just out of sight as the argument got started.
“What do you mean an appointment?” Molly huffed.
Severus’s whole body was tense as he answered. “She has an appointment to see a private healer.”
“This late at night?” Molly shrieked.
“Yes,” Severus snapped. “She’ll stay for an overnight visit.”
“What-“
“Sorry Professor Snape!” Hermione chirped and rushed into the room. She didn’t want a huge fight to ensue. “I completely forgot about my appointment today. I must admit, it has come at an appropriate time. I haven’t been feeling well lately.”
Severus merely pursed his lips and gave her a curt nod before pointing her out the door.
“Sorry Mrs. Weasley,” she continued. “It completely slipped my mind but I’ll see you in the morning. Hopefully, I’ll be good as new. Bye now.”
“But you haven’t gotten any of your things!” Molly protested.
“Oh, I um, I won’t need them,” Hermione said a bit rushed and bolted out the door.
Severus kept pace with her all the way to the wards. He was unusually quiet and she could feel the tension radiating from him. It made her jumpy and ashamed of herself all at the same time. She should have called him immediately. She should have-
“Stop with your incessant self-deprecating monologue!” Severus snapped, effectively interrupting her next thought. His countenance relaxed as he took her into his arms. “You did the right thing child. Unfortunately, I had to tell Lupin the truth. He is…bewildered…but has agreed to keep the secret. So…thank you.”
“I’m so sorry father,” Hermione whispered. “I should have called you immediately.”
Severus hummed. “Under the circumstances, I believe your actions were the most efficient. You successfully wrangled the werewolf into an agreement before the rest was revealed to him. Well done. Now, are you ready to see your mate again?”
“Oh yes,” she breathed, unable to hide the wanting from her voice.
Her father chuckled. “Your young mate has been driving me insane all day. Although, I do recall hearing that you enjoyed your gift very much.”
Hermione turned red. “Yes. It was…lovely. I must remember to thank Melody for the idea.”
Severus smirked and drew her closer before disapparating. She managed to find her feet much quicker this time when they appeared in the living room. Draco let her find her bearings before sweeping her off her feet and snogging her silly. She barely glimpsed her mother before she was thrown on a bed, completely nude.
“You can say hi later,” Draco growled before testing her readiness and entering with one thrust.
Her eyes rolled back into her head as she felt the welcome fullness. Oh how she had missed her mate. That green dildo might be shaped like him, but nothing could replace the feel of his hot length plowing into her. And plow he did, harder and faster and deeper than she could have ever imagined. It felt amazing, better than the night before. It was surreal that it had only been a day since they’d been together and already she felt like she’d been doing this a lifetime. All too soon, she broke, bliss flooding her veins as she heard her mate scream out above her.
Wonderful peace descended as she came down from her orgasm. Draco had collapsed beside her, drawing her into his comforting embrace. She never figured him for a cuddler but he was certainly doing so now. His hand was idly stroking her hair, something she’d come to love over the weeks since her turning. Something about it soothed her, made her feel safe and loved.
“Reacquainted yet?” Melody asked from the doorway.
“Yes, thank you,” Draco growled. “Now go away.”
“Sorry, no can do,” Melody sighed. “Unfortunately, we have to work tonight.”
Draco released Hermione and sat up in bed, his eyes narrowed in suspicion. “What do you mean work?
Melody’s face was sober as she looked at her children. “You’re mated now. There are two things that you must do. The first is to present yourself to the coven. Since daddy is the coven leader now, that’s already considered done. The second is a condition only because you are both magical. In settling your bond, you also combined your abilities. We already told you that your magic would be stronger since your turning. However, after your mating, it will double. You feed from each other now.”
“So…” Draco drawled.
“So,” Severus said as he appeared from the hallway. “You will both go with us to Hogwarts to hone your magic.”
“How long will it take?” Hermione asked curiously. She’d sat up beside Draco, unabashed at her nudity. She’d long since grown accustomed to it.
“It will depend on your ability to focus,” Severus answered. “I realize that you are both still under the influence of the venom. However, it is better to start from the very beginning rather than have an utter blow up later.”
“Voice of experience?” Hermione asked softly.
Melody smirked. “To say the least. There is a reason Bellatrix’s hair has a permanent white streak in it…and it isn’t from old age.”
Draco chuckled. “I always wondered about that.”
Severus wore a nasty smirk. “Yes, Bellatrix might be a powerful witch, but she is no match for mine.”
Melody blushed prettily as she suddenly found something interesting on the floor. “Yes, well…that was the last time she ever laid a hand on Severus. Shall we go or do you need another go. Mind, I said need and not want.”
“Bloody Slytherin,” Hermione grumbled and slid out of bed to find her wayward clothing. She pointedly ignored the chuckles and slid into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt at human speed. By the time she was finished dressing, her family was waiting for her downstairs, along with Alex. She was shocked, to say the least as she hugged him.
“I can only stay for a moment,” Alex said softly. “But I had to see you two with my own eyes. Quite the pair, you make. I must go to Nancy but study hard.”
Hermione couldn’t believe how worn her father looked, much older than he appeared at first. She remembered how drained she was as she waited for Draco to wake up. She couldn’t even bring herself to feed, too afraid that the darkness would come on him when she wasn’t there. After he’d won, she still couldn’t tear herself away until his eyes opened. She almost cried with relief when she’d seen those silvery grey orbs staring at her.
“Come,” Severus said softly and handed them an old tin cup that gave them a jerk behind their navels.
Hermione caught herself just before she fell face first on the ground. She didn’t think she would ever get the hang of port keying. She shot her mate a grateful look when he steadied her. It irked her that he was so sure on his feet but she couldn’t bring herself to care at the moment. She was too worried about entering the castle. What would they come upon?
The first thing that assaulted her nose was the smell, fire and copper and sulfur and lightening. It made her gag and choke, the thick cloying metallic smell that clung to every molecule in the air. Even while holding her breath, it singed her eyes and nose, drying out her lips.
“That’s the magic,” Melody coughed. “It takes a few weeks to get used to it. Since you were reborn here, Hermione, you didn’t notice it when you first awoke. The Burrow is teaming with magic but it isn’t near the caliber that Hogwarts is. We decided that we’d get you two used to it now so it wouldn’t be such a shock when you return here for sixth year.”
“Well,” Draco croaked and cleared his throat a few times. “Thanks for that…I guess.”
“You’ll thank us when you aren’t choking like a moron when you get off the train,” Melody growled.
It took more than half an hour before Hermione could breathe anywhere near regularly. Draco was still having a hard go of it. She supposed that was because the Burrow was held together by magic. Still, it was extremely difficult not to tuck tail and run. She was glad Severus had dragged them to his private chambers. It made it harder to escape, for one. Another, the air didn’t feel quite a stifling. She remembered the dungeons being quite damp and cold but now they were quite comfortable.
“Shall we begin?” Severus asked.
“With what?” Hermione asked curiously.
“First, we’ll teach you to cast wandlessly,” Severus said softly. “Once you have the hang of it, we’ll move on to non-verbal. Then we’ll work on the strength of your spells. For this lesson, I propose we go to the Room of Requirement. It should hold the power of your spells since you will require it.”
The walk to the seventh floor was painful, the air becoming thinner and more magically concentrated on the way up. It made the magic sting and burn the lungs, like tiny pin pricks all over. It was a good thing they were getting used to it now. They wouldn’t make such fools of themselves when they returned. Finally, the door appeared, allowing them entry.
Hermione gasped as the room presented itself as an exact replica of the old Dumbledore’s Army headquarters. The training dummies, the padded walls, everything was as she remembered…even the picture of the old Order remained. She noticed Severus staring at it and felt horrible but didn’t dare say anything, less she invoke her father’s wrath.
“Shall we?” Melody asked softly and walked to the middle of the room. “No wands please.”
Hermione reluctantly walked over with her mate. Her eyes were still focused on her father though. Sadness and regret radiated from him in waves as he continued to stare at the picture. Nevertheless, she forced her attention back on Melody, who seemed to shrink inside herself a bit. Her heart ached at the thought.
Melody cleared her throat uncomfortably and began the lesson. “First, we’ll try the first charm you ever learned, the levitating charm. You’ll notice that hand movements are the same as wand movements. The point is done with the index finger. Swishing, flicking, and circular work are all done with the wrist. For figure eights and the like, you’ll use your fingers. Spells for light and fire are easier to perform with a snap rather than a flick. So, since wingardium leviosa is a swish and a flick, you will swish and flick your wrist and fingers in turn, like so.”
Hermione watched as Melody’s hand made an elegant arc through the air, index finger pointed at a training dummy before she flicked her hand forward, finger extended. The training dummy rose gracefully through the air and hovered a few feet above the floor. It held for a moment before Melody murmured Finite Incantatum and curled her hand into a fist. The dummy fell with a thud.
“Any questions?” Melody asked with a raised eyebrow. She nodded when neither Hermione nor Draco spoke and motioned for Hermione to start. “Now remember, it’s just like holding your wand except you will concentrate on willing your magic through your fingers."
Hermione took a deep breath to steady her nerves and ended up having a coughing fit. Draco gallantly patted her on the back and gave her a sympathetic look. He knew exactly how she felt. Magic, even though they had been there for a while, was still tough to breathe around. She finally calmed her lungs and raised a hand, carefully mimicking Melody and willing her magic through her fingers. The dummy shot straight in the air and smashed into the ceiling. She hastily jerked her hand down and called out the end spell with a closed fist. They all had to take cover as shards of flooring billowed out in waves.
“Well,” Severus said, once the dust cleared. “I believe that was sufficient.”
