Well...I've been bored which means I did a lot of writing. So here's the next chapter, a bit earlier than planned =)
Hermione woke up the next morning and immediately realised she was naked and sitting almost upright. She blushed as memories of last night raced through her head. Would her and Lucius ever get tired of each other? It couldn't be normal to feel the way they did all the time, could it?
She stopped her thought process as she felt Lucius' arms tighten around her waist and felt him press a soft kiss to the top of her head. "I didn't mean to fall asleep on you", she whispered to him, lifting her head to see his beautiful grey eyes filled with a warmth that he only revealed to her.
His eyes, she had noticed, revealed most of his thoughts when he kept his guard down but she knew he only did that around her. Because he trusted her. She almost laughed at the thought she had gained Lucius Malfoy's trust but then again, he had gained hers too. In a way, they had always trusted each other, even before they had acknowledged their bond.
"Although I have a slightly sore neck this morning, I don't think I have ever been happier in my life", Lucius whispered back, bending down to kiss her, his mouth moulding against hers as she returned the kiss feverently.
"Sorry about your sore neck", Hermione panted out once he let her pull back for air, "Any way I can make it up to you?" She batted her eyelashes with laughter in her eyes, feeling a sense of satisfaction when Lucius crushed his mouth against hers, his hands caressing her body and causing her to melt into his embrace. He finally pulled back, resting his forehead on hers and staring into her eyes, his blonde hair falling around them like a thin curtain, shielding them from the realities of the outside world.
"Don't tempt me witch", he breathed out, pulling her closer to press one more hard kiss to her lips before pulling back and letting her get up.
"I love you", Hermione causally added as she located her clothes. She loved saying it out loud. It made it more real somehow.
She leaned back against Lucius' strong chest as his muscular arms wrapped around her from behind and pulled her against him again. "You really want to make me lose control don't you?" he murmured gruffly against her neck as he nuzzled it, causing her to mewl in pleasure.
"Of course not, my lord. You're always in control", she didn't bother hiding her smile as he roughly turned her around to face him and kissed her again, leading her backwards until she felt the cold wall behind her. She could only moan into his mouth when Lucius' ground his hips against hers, her hands trying to pull him as close as humanely possible. Their mouths moved against each other, as in synch as their bodies and Hermione knew without the smallest doubt that she belonged here with him as he thrust into her, roughly, claiming her as his own over and over again as she called out his name in sheer bliss.
When they had both recovered, Lucius pulled out of her and took her hand, apparating them upstairs. "I know you're still shy around the house elves", he said in explanation to her startled look, "I thought you would prefer not to run into them". Hermione bit back her smile at the way he unconsciously adjusted his routines to suit her. She couldn't resist giving him a quick peck on the lips before going to get ready for the day.
Today was the day she had to face her oldest-born, Rose. She wasn't sure how she would take the news. She had already owled McGonagall and asked for special permission to meet Rose at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. Lucius had, of course, agreed to come and arranged matters with Draco so that he was free from his business commitments for the morning.
Once they were both showered and ready (Hermione changed her outfit three times out of nervousness, prompting Lucius to comment that she acted like she was going on a blind date), they apparated to Hogsmeade, arriving a good twenty minutes early. "I hate this place", Lucius muttered quietly as they made their way to one of the back booths of the Three Broomsticks.
"I spent almost all my Hogsmeade weekends here during Hogwarts."Hermione began, " If I wasn't here, I was at…"
"The bookstore. I know", Lucius finished for her, chuckling and catching her hand as she attempted to hit him.
"You can be really aggravating, you know that?" she teased him playfully as he pressed a soft kiss to the inside of her wrist.
"But that's what you love about me", he pouted back, drawing a reluctant smile out of her. It made him feel better, knowing that her nervousness was abating slowly. They ordered their drinks and fell into conversation as they waited for Rose to arrive. She walked in, right on time, chilled from the cold and stopped dead in her tracks as she saw her mother with Lucius Malfoy, holding his hand across the table and talking to him animatedly.
Rose knew all about Lucius Malfoy. Even before she had started Hogwarts, she had been a curious child, getting her hands on anything she could read. She had stumbled across an old box of stuff under her mum's bed when she was eight or so and looked through it, curiosity overcoming her guilt.
Most of it were paper clippings from her mother's Hogwarts days. There were a few crazy articles by Rita Skeeter that her mother had marked as 'TRASH' and many pictures of the events that unfolded during that time frame. She had first seen Lucius Malfoy's name in an article about fires set at the Quidditch world cup, saying that the suspected Deatheater had gotten box seats for his family at the same tournament. Of course there was no conclusive evidence that he had taken any part in the rampage.
She saw a small photo of him in a suspected Ministry attack, during her mum's fifth year at school and then had seen a large amount of clippings about his arrest after the war and his subsequent release. She had wondered why her mother had so many pictures of the man but had been afraid to ask her mother since she would have to explain where she got the name from and Rose had never been a good liar. So she had asked her dad instead and got a stern lecture on never mentioning that man's name, pretty much telling her he was evil as were the entire Malfoy clan. "Cares about nothing but blood, the whole lot. They're the kind of people we have nothing to do with!"
Rose had later understood that her father was talking about the cause the Malfoys had stood for at the beginning of the war rather than the family itself, but she had always been wary of them. After meeting Scorpius, the annoying Slytherin who made her life a living hell, she had come to completely agree with her father's evaluation but now, here her mum was sitting with…Rose could hardly comprehend it and she walked over to the table, in a daze.
Hermione looked up as she saw the girl approach and waved her over with a smile, patting the empty spot beside her. Rose noticed she had let go of Lucius' hand but there was no point. She had already seen. "Does dad know?" was the first question she asked once she had reached the table, perching at the end of her seat with a wary expression towards Lucius and an accusing glare towards Hermione.
"Rose I…"Hermione began and then rested her head in her hands as she stared at the table, "I left your father", she said quietly once she had composed herself again.
"What?" Rose whispered, not believing she had heard the words correctly.
"Rose, I…haven't been honest with you. Or Hugo or your dad. I never…I loved him as a friend my entire life and after the war, times were hard, I was confused and I clung onto the things and people that were familiar to me. Your dad and I were great friends but…that's all we should ever have been", Hermione finished off quietly and Rose glared at Lucius when she saw him take her mum's hand from across the table, squeezing it for support.
Lucius stared back at the girl, seeing the same spark of courage and fire Hermione had, in her eyes. The eyes that were currently trying to dissect every aspect of his character.
"Hermione…maybe you should…"Lucius trailed off as Hermione looked up and caught onto what he was saying.
"Oh yes. Rose this is…"she began but Rose cut across her, "Lucius Malfoy. A convicted Deatheater. I know", her words held more menace than he could have believed and he heard Hermione gasp in shock.
"How did you…never mind. That is a horrible thing to say! He was never convicted for anything and…"Hermione trailed off, looking at Lucius to make sure he was alright. He smiled back and gave her a nod. He had a feeling this was Rose Weasley's way of putting on a brave front. She wasn't the type to accept this new change in her life quietly like her brother had.
He had to admit, although grudgingly, that he respected her for it."Rose I love him", Hermione whispered, her eyes still locked on his.
Rose stared at them both before asking one question, her voice not showing any discernible emotion, "How did this happen?"
Hermione reached into her small beaded back and pulled out an envelope. She had written the letter sometime back, for this specific occasion. She knew Rose wouldn't stay long enough to listen to the whole story so she had written it all down. From the first time she saw Lucius Malfoy in her second year to who she had become with him by her side, now. She handed the envelope to her daughter, taking her arm and giving it a quick squeeze before letting her get up and leave, with a sad smile. Hermione knew Rose would contact her when she was ready to talk again. She was growing up. She had to respect her decisions.
She looked at Lucius, at the concern that was plain in his eyes and smiled, leaning over and giving him a soft kiss.
"Let's go home", he said, knowing exactly what she needed without her having to say a word and she nodded, linking her arm with his as they walked outside and apparated back to the Manor.
