“What are we going to say to Plympton when he gets here? I mean has to know what happened, doesn’t he?” not giving him time to answer the Gryffindor continued worrying. “But if he does know I can only imagine what he will do to us.”
Frowning at the word “us” Draco opened his mouth to retort, but she beat him to the punch. “Don’t worry Draco I won’t let him blame all of this on you.” Rubbing his shoulder absently, “If that man even suggest that it was any way our fault so help me I will…”Unintentionally he began to tune her out, he was much more focused on her soft hands rubbing his shoulders. Damn the notion that made him put on a shirt for breakfast. It seemed as of this morning that their friendship skyrocketed over to level two friendship, the friendly gestures of touch. Oh yeah, he has witnessed it many times over the years when he watched her with those blundering idiots she called mates. The gentle pat on the back after a failed assignment, a cheerful hug after a quiditch victory, or a soft caress when they received depressing news oh yes Draco seen it all. Not anymore though, dear Merlin he could punch the sky with male enthusiasm, he was in the same league now. Hell he just might be ahead, and that would be priceless.Noticing she was working herself into hyperventilation he decided it was time to intervene. “Look Princess why don’t we just play it by ear?”This caught her attention, with wide eyes she turned around. “But what if…”“And if he does say anything we will simply tell the bastard none of this would have happened if we weren’t placed here with criminals.” She nodded in agreement as she placed the world’s largest stack of pancakes on his plate. After eating far too many pancakes one human should consume they headed outside. Draco could only pray that today would be an easy practice. “Hello students.” Damn the bastard they weren’t even out the door yet. Feeling a small grip tighten around his shoulder Draco once again thanked God for level two friendship. Just wait until he saw Potter and Weasel. Hermione followed Draco down to the clearing, his stride was strong while his posture was impeccable, she wished he felt as confident as he looked. At least have her hair blow in the wind as sultry as his did. Grabbing his hand, Hermione was determined to let the professor know that they were a united front. “Today we will be doing something different.” Taking out his wand he pointed it to a shady area of nearby trees, instantly three chairs appeared. Hermione looked up to Draco to see what he was thinking, but his face was set in stone with narrowed eyes as he stared at the professor. “Since the both of you have progressed so much I will give you the final lesson.” Hermione nearly fell out of her chair. “What do you mean I thought we had a few more weeks of to go.”“Well you have been here nearly two months now, thanks to the time-turner, and both of you have learned everything I can teach you. I think it is time for you to leave now.”“Do you think we are ready?” it had to be the first question Draco asked that wasn’t accusatory or riddled with foul words. Tilting his head back Plympton eyed both students for a minute before asking. “Ready…mmm I think you are as ready as you can be due to both of your circumstances yes. But the future will be difficult and you might feel overwhelmed but as both of you were told in the beginning, together the two of you can surpass just about any obstacle.”Silence, the silence was filled with a mixture of enthusiasm and anxiety.“Now for the final lesson. Your lives as Aurors, a special unit consisting of just yourselves, but Aurors nonetheless.” ~*~“Only a week to go, can you believe it.” She was sitting in front of the fire warming her frozen hands when the Slytherin came to sit down beside her on the threadbare rug. What was Plympton thinking making them sit outside in the freezing weather to listen to his lectures.
“I’m happy.” Sitting his coffee mug down he leaned his back against the coffee table behind them as stretched out his legs. “I know I am, and when we leave we still will have enough time to visit our families…oh,” mentally kicking herself in the head she looked over to him, but from her angle she could only see the veil of hair that hid his face. “I’m sorry Draco I wasn’t thinking I just mean that…”“No need to apologize Princess.” When he did look at her way Hermione felt her heart constrict his eyes seemed to have temporarily lost a bit of their usual flame of arrogance. Knowing she should just drop the subject Hermione couldn’t bring herself to do it, “When we leave where are you going to go, back to Hogwarts until school starts?”Staring back into the fire Draco did his best to push down the bitter rage his father caused in his life. Draco Malfoy was an exile from his own damn house. “Yeah it looks that way. So I assume you do not want to go to the village today.”The cloud of fear that quickly settled over her made Draco regret his choice of words, he just wanted to get the subject off of his fucked up situation. “No, but if you want to go, go ahead.” Nodding his head Draco looked deeply into her brown eyes. “No we don’t have to go today but we will go tomorrow.”It was more of a command than a suggestion. Sighing Hermione nodded her head in agreement she couldn’t avoid the village forever.Letting his arm stretch to the length of the coffee table behind him and behind her back, Draco couldn’t help but be satisfied that Hermione’s body seemed to relax in the silent invitation. Her actions just helped to further cement the fact that they reached another level in their friendship. Merlin’s beard, this was good! After a few moments of silence, they began to discuss school and the upcoming load of schoolwork. Hermione was dead set in her belief that Snape would assign a two-foot long essay. Talking about schoolwork effectively pushed aside the fear of the village replacing it with her usual animated flourish when discussing academics. Not once in her years of knowing the Slytherin did she ever fully recognize or appreciate one of his most wonderful aspects. No matter how much she talked about something whether he hated it or not Draco Malfoy almost always gave her his full attention. Not like most of her friends who half way listened while staring at something else, nope Draco looked directly at her.Like the way he was looking at her now as he was explaining, more like defending, his god-father’s teaching habits. Silver eyes were mixing directly with her brown ones, and she knew that he wasn’t going to let his mind drift off. Their close proximity didn’t probably hurt either, but she knew that even if she was across he room his stormy eyes would be on hers always paying close attention. Draco would make a great friend. *~*
Seeing a Slytherin push himself up from the floor and back down, only to repeat the process over and over again was something Hermione was not used to waking up to. Falling asleep to yes, but she was not prepared to see his naked torso gleaming with a slight sheen of sweat this early in the morning.
Hermione’s push-ups were never as controlled as his, it probably had to do with the fact that she insisted on doing girl-push-ups instead of the regular ones. Groaning she tore her eyes away from his performance, the last thing she needed to see in the mornings was a half clad man doing provocative push-ups. Burying her face into the down pillows Hermione let her mind wander to what Ginny would say. Ginny always teased Hermione about her usually dormant sexual urges that seemed to awaken in the dead of night and in the early morning. Sexual frustrations and Draco Malfoy should not be mixing dammit. “I see your awake Princess,” Draco was in the middle of his 88th push up when he heard Hermione’s groan. Without stopping he looked up to see her turn over and bury her face into a pillow. Smiling he lowered himself back down, he wondered if she knew that she was using his pillow to wallow in. “Unfortunately,” she mumbled into the pillow. With a ragged sigh she abruptly sat up in the bed and gave him a hard stare. “Why in the world are you working out this morning?”Pushing his body up Draco paused in the air and gave her a quizzical look. Hermione’s frustration was obvious from the way her wild hair hung down around her to the way her face was scrunched up. Draco had to wonder why? “I workout nearly every morning and every night what’s the matter this time?” he said smoothly as he lowered himself back down. “Besides,” he continued in a smooth tone that seemed to be driving her crazy, “it is such a lovely day out why waste it sleeping.”“What are you babbling about its nearly 20 degrees out…Oh my the weathers changed.” Without regard to her skimpy nightgown Hermione dashed out of the bed towards the window, which happened to be where Draco was. Standing on the tips of her toes Hermione laughed as she looked out the window at the view, obviously forgetting her previous frustration. “Oh Merlin, it looks like a postcard. Its as if it never snowed.” Birds were chirping brightly from the lush green trees, the flowers were in full bloom. Now it was Draco’s turn for frustration, he regretted mentioning the damn weather now. Finishing his workout was impossible now; no hot-blooded man could workout when there was a half clad women standing directly beside him. All Draco would have to do was turn his head and “Hello Granger’s knickers!” What made it worse the woman in question was completely unmindful. “I am going to take a shower.” Pushing himself to his feet he walked towards the door. “Oh Draco wait.” Looking back Draco barely had time to realize Hermione just ran past him towards the door. “The hell you will.” Snaking out a hand he caught her around the middle. The shocked laughter filled the room as she tried to struggle free. “Come on Draco ladies first remember!” the more she struggled the tighter his hold seemed to get. “Ha when I start seeing a lady and not a conniving little Gryffindor you will be the first to know.” Hermione could feel the muscles in his chest and arms start to bunch and tighten and she knew what he was about to do. Draco was just about to throw Hermione’s sweet little arse on the bed while he made a break for it but it seemed his luck ran out. “Stop.” The spell was said so politely that his body had no choice but to obey. Watching her run off giggling into the bathroom frozen in place Draco let his mind wander about with ideas of revenge. Little trollop needed to be taught a lesson. After a few seconds the spell finally released. By all rights he should tear down the door and turn the Gryffindor’s water into an artic rain but the image of a shocked, cold, and very naked Hermione halted his actions and jump-started his imagination.~~
“See I’m done, that didn’t take long at…oomph!” Before she could finish her statement she was pushed against the wall between the bathroom and bedroom. Draco’s tall sweaty form blocked her escape; his smile was probably the only reason why she wasn’t nervous. “Draco I…”“Ssshhh.” Trailing the tip of his finger down the moist column of her neck, Hermione cursed herself for only wearing a towel. Maybe she has gotten a little too comfortable around him. Bringing his lips near her ear Hermione silently prayed he couldn’t feel the tremors that were going through her body. “I want you to make me an omelette, toast with jam, a glass of juice, and a slice of grapefruit.”With eyes wide Hermione pulled herself to her full height of 5’4 and stared him directly in the eyes. “How dare you think that I am going to…” But the feel of his large hand on her towel-clad stomach hushed her immediately. “And I want you to do all of that only wearing this towel.” His voice darkened as she felt his lips just below her ear. This time she knew Draco felt her tremble because she could feel the bastard’s smile against her skin. “Though we are friends Hermione Granger and I would never intentionally hurt you, but I must admit that I feel it is my duty to remind you that I am indeed still a man.” The hand at her stomach started to trace circles into the towel driving her senses crazy. “A man mind you who has had a certain diet, you might say, pertaining to women before we were stranded here. So please do your best to remember that in the future.” “Draco I…”“Starting now.” Before she could protest any further about the man’s audacity her body started to move on its own accord. Heading toward the refrigerator she watched in horror as she started to take out the ingredients for his breakfast. “DRACO MALFOY!!!” ignoring her ground shaking scream Draco entered the bathroom and began to take his shower. Minutes later Hermione found herself in a full-blown panic as she sliced the grapefruit, with each movement she made the towel get looser and looser. Ever since he left she has tried every counter spell she could come up with but her body just kept on working. If that asshole didn’t hurry she was going to be greeting him naked. The thought didn’t help her rising fear any. As she unwillingly set the table Hermione’s heart caught in her throat as she felt the towel give away.“Oh God no.” Closing her eyes Hermione waited for the cool feel of the room to touch her naked skin. What she wasn’t expecting was the warm touch of Draco’s hands holding the towel up from behind. Her bottom was nestled against his pant-clad thighs as his moist naked chest covered her nearly naked back. The sigh of relief was unstoppable as she felt the lift of the curse from her body. Grabbing her towel she stepped away from him, but his arms only allowed her to go so far. Turning her around Draco chuckled when the Gryffindor refused to look at his face. “You’re a bastard.” she turned to get away from him.“Come on Princess you didn’t think I was going to let you get away with that were you.”Whipping her face around to see him her face held pure outrage, “What I did was harmless what you did was cruel you bas…” The grip that was suddenly around her wrist tightened in warning silently telling her not to finish her sentence. “What I did was teach you a much needed lesson,” his face darkened, “Do you traipse around naked around Potter and Weasel.” The rough edge to his voice and the brewing storm in his eyes told Hermione that he was a little angry. Hell she should be the one that was angry!“For your information I am not naked I am in a towel and no Harry and Ron have not seen me in towel but even if they did it wouldn’t matter.”The woman was simply not aware of what male arousal really was and how she would have no control over said guy that directed it towards her. Now that Draco thought about it no one at Hogwarts really thought about the bookworm in a sexual manner, until now. This year was going to be a nightmare. “It would matter, but I’m not going to argue with you about it. Get dressed so we can eat my lovely breakfast that you went through all the trouble of preparing.”“Humph!” Yanking her hand from his loosened grasp she stomped into the bedroom and slammed the door. Yanking her jeans on Hermione realized that her anger towards the prick was disappearing. Dammit she wanted to stay mad at him why was she letting that act of humiliation go. However, the more she thought about it the less she thought it was humiliating more like—awakening. Why? She had no clue. Buttoning the last button on her blouse she stepped out the room. Draco was sitting with his back towards the door drinking his juice; thankfully he put his shirt on. “My omelette was good, I considered eating yours.” Taking her seat Hermione looked up to see that he wasn’t kidding, he was still eye balling her omelette. “Well too bad its mine.” She laughed around a forkful of omelette when he gave her a small pout. “So tell me are you going to drag me to every damn house in the village to say bye?” “Honestly I would be happy never setting foot in that village again,” the shiver that passed through her body was involuntary. Taking her eyes off her plate Hermione looked up to see Draco staring at her, the laughter that was in his eye was replaced by a stonewall giving her little to wonder where his thoughts lie. “Although leaving without saying farewell would be severely rude so yeah I guess we have to go.”
~*~
Pride and a healthy dose of male confidence has always been two attributes that have accompanied Draco, but today they reached an all time high. Since the moment they set foot in the village to say their farewells Hermione’s hand was latched onto his with a firm grip. The fast tempo of her heart told him that fears were still raw even though her face was its usual warm smile.
Gently she tugged him from house to house giving everyone her gratitude and their goodbyes. When they reached some of the last people Draco decided to pay Boleslaw a visit. Draco was curious to know whether the man suspected anything or not about his missing farmhands.Pulling Hermione away from some of the women he let her know of his plans. “I want you to stay here with Agnese and the rest of the women. I will be back in a few minutes.”The worried look she gave before nodding him shouldn’t have made him feel good but… it did… and he was really getting pathetic.Watching him walk over the hill towards the silent farmer’s house Hermione turned to Agnese. “Agnese, do you know where I can find a phone in the village?”Wiping her hands on her apron, which was more out of habit than necessity, the older woman tilted her head in thought. “Mmmm a phone you say? Well I believe Amadeo might have one in that junk shack he calls a shop.”“Oh good,” Hermione looked towards Laura, who was standing near Agnese’s garden, “Laura would you like to accompany me to Amadeo’s store for a minute I thought you said you needed some sugar?”“Oh darn it your right, I nearly forgot about that.” Walking with Hermione down the road Laura continued her usual rambling. “I tell you Hermione sweety, I think I might be losing my mind. I forget nearly everything under the sun.”Walking into the store Hermione headed straight for the front counter the same sandy haired boy was working behind the counter as usual. “Hello Tarr, how are you doing today?” with her frequent visits to the store over the month the shy boy finally started to open up a little. “Hi Miss Hermione,” he beamed, “I finished Great Expectations, you were right it was rather boring.”“Yeah I think I gave that book away first chance I got.” Laughing she looked around the dingy store for any sign of her goal. “Tarr? Does Amadeo happen to have a telephone if so can I borrow it?”“You might be the only person to have ever asked for the thing but I do have one.” As usual the older voice rang out over the store coming from everywhere but nowhere. Hermione would not be surprised if Amadeo wasn’t a ghost. “Its under the counter, Tarr my boy let Miss Granger have a go at the thing.”“Thank you Mr. Amadeo this will be my last week here in the Village I am going back to London.”“I am sorry to hear it my girl you are my best customer. Safe travels to you.” Listening to his fading voice Hermione turned back around to the counter to see Tarr pull out an old black rotary phone. The last time she saw one of these she was five.

Just as Draco expected Boleslaw was impassive about the disappearance to his farmhands. The farmer seemed more affected by Draco’s upcoming departure than anything. “Take care of yourself boy.” Those words must have been tough for the stoic giant. “Thanks I will,” feeling slightly uncomfortable he continued, “Oh and thanks for…you know everything.”“Mmmm” Ending their manly goodbyes Draco walked down the hill just in time to see Hermione walking out of the general store with one of the various village women. Draco saw no point in learning all their names. What he did see fit in learning was why Hermione was looking so happy.Meeting Draco on the main road they walked back into the woods. “I have something I want to tell you but first tell me what Boleslaw said.”“Actually he didn’t seem fazed at all that those two fuck-wads didn’t show up for work. I think he could care less.”“Oh well that’s good.” Hesitating Hermione looked up at the bright blue sky. “Lets have a picnic.”Swiping some hair from his eyes Draco gave her a quizzical look, “Is that what you wanted to tell me?”“No, that’s where I wanted to tell you. But first lets get some food.”Taking a few minutes to make some sandwiches and other snacks, Hermione filled the basket with food and a blanket. Like the other day Hermione followed Draco into the woods where the grotto was located.Their expectations for the secret paradise were not dampened. The grotto was just as captivating springing with life and color than it was a frozen wonderland. There was a small waterfall towards the back of the pond that Hermione didn’t notice the last time. Colorful fish that were once frozen swam merrily beneath the crystal clear surface.“Its so pretty.” Not caring that she sounded like a little girl Hermione started to look around the cavern leaving Draco to unpack the picnic basket.
Sitting on the blanket Draco began to munch on a sandwich. “So what is it that you wanted to tell me?” Setting her nerves to steel Hermione turned from the aquatic scene and went to sit beside the Slytherin. “Yesterday you told me that you were going back to Hogwarts when we leave here, right?” shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly Draco stared at the pond with an unreadable expression, “So I figured I call my parents and ask if it would be ok with them if you stay with me for the last week of summer.” By now all her oxygen was being painfully held in the bottom of her stomach.Whipping his head back around Draco looked at her as if she told him she was having his child or something. Deciding just to press on Hermione continued, “And they said that you were welcome to stay.” Pausing she started to fiddle with making her own sandwich, anything to take her eyes from his unyielding gaze. “So…would you like to stay at my muggle filled house the remaining week of holiday?”Quickly the Slytherin dropped the half eaten sandwich and got up. Walking away from her, Hermione watched him run a hand through his hair. Maybe she seriously offended him. The air she was holding started to make her feel sick when she thought of the warlock’s reaction. “Is this what you do with friends?” The question shocked her like nothing ever had. Not knowing really how to respond she merely nodded. Stopping in front of her Draco pulled her off the blanket to stand in front of him, Draco looked deep into her eyes. “Then yes.” In the blink of an eye his signature smile was spread across his lips flashing her his perfectly white straight teeth before pulling her against his hard body in a tight hug. Hermione could scarcely believe Draco Malfoy was hugging her, but thankfully it allowed her to release the air she was holding. Despite her shock, Hermione could not help but marvel over the shear size of Malfoy. With her head on his chest she felt really tiny in the protection of his muscular arms. The man was just so damn firm, there wasn’t a soft spot on his person. With her arms wrapped around his narrow waist Hermione secretly decided she liked that. ~*That night after another one of her riveting silhouette performances Draco watched the Gryffindor pack her trunks. He was going to miss that damn screen he just knew it. “It’s a little early to start packing isn’t? We have three more days in this shack?” With his head resting in his folded arms behind his head he contemplated the brown haired girl. The offer she gave him today was beyond words, hell he didn’t know how to react when he first heard her. Looking in her eyes though told him she was being earnest. She really wanted him to go and meet her family and stay with her through the rest of the break. Neither pity nor obligation fueled her actions just friendship. It was just too damn good. Hell if he new these types of perks were involved in friendship with the frizz ball he would have done it years ago. “Its never too early to be prepared.”Rolling his eyes at her obvious nerdy-ness Draco let the cool night air from the open window caress his naked torso. Hermione was dressed in a simple black satin nightgown. It was made to be simple and nowhere near sexy but Draco was starting to think it was the most tempting bit of fabric he ever witnessed. Shutting her trunk, Hermione walked over to the bed, scooped up her pillow, and walked towards the door. Confused by her actions Draco sat up, “Where the hell are you going with that?”Gracefully the brown haired girl turned on the balls of her feet and regarded him with a cool look. “I am sleeping on the couch.”Angered now the Slytherin stood up from the bed, “What the hell…why?”Ignoring his obvious anger Hermione smiled while waving her hand casually. “Well you were right, you are a man and I should not forget it. So I am going to sleep on the couch so I won’t impose on your delicate male feelings.” Not waiting to hear his response Hermione walked through the threshold. But that was as far as she got. Grabbing her by the middle, so that she was pressed against his hip and draped over his forearm like a waiter’s towel, Draco carried the protesting woman back to the bed. “Draco Malfoy put me down!” “I intend to.” With that being said he dropped her into the middle of the large oak bed. The flimsy material to her nightgown was bunched around her thighs exposing him a healthy amount of her legs. Grabbing her wiggling form he held her down as he situated himself beside her. “Now now princess don’t try and fight me,” he yawned casually as he tightened his grip around her waist forcing her settle down in front of him. “You know I will win and I don’t want to take any chances on you finding another way of getting hurt.” The playfulness left his voice, Draco was serious, he would not harm her again dammit. He wasn't his father!Quickly her struggling stopped, “I know you won’t hurt me.” Her voice was so soft, just like the rest of her he thought. Pressing her body closer to his, Draco looked over her shoulder to see her eyes slowly close. A few minutes passed before her eyes lashes were permanently resting delicately against the apples of her cheeks. Taking his chance Draco let his hand splay over her soft stomach. Hermione’s body was toned but it wasn’t completely firm and not exactly lithe. Unlike most girl’s in his bed her stomach wasn’t perfectly flat, it was soft and so damn inviting. And as much as he tried not to think about them his eyes were drawn to the pair of soft globes above his hand. How soft would they be in his hand? Groaning Draco buried his face in her soft sweet-scented hair and forced himself to go to sleep before his body started to really catch on to his way of thinking. *~*~*While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
